Hey Priest Fans,
Been a hjuge Priest fan since 1981 (at 11 years old). My first two priest live experiences were at US Festival 83' and Defenders of the Faith tour in Portland Oregon. Just joined this forum for the first time from herein Oregon USA.
I am on a search for one memoribilia item I don't have, a genuine RIAA Gold or Platinum award for a Priest album, Stained Class through Turbo if possible. Although I do enjoy the new stuff I grew up on the 80's Priest collection.
Like many fans I'm sure experienced, I wanted and learned to play guitar based on my love for the dual-axe Judas Priest experience. Now I own a Sound Rental business and design high-end Audio/Video systems is about all I do in teh industry, although I maintain a nice collection of Guitars and Basses.
Bummed that Judas Priest's date in Washington was all General Admission, I have some physical problems that makes General Admission a problem (if they had suites or a reserved seatng area where people like me can be comfortable I so would have been there with my Son and Nephew, both recent Priest fans.

While a fine review, it is also a misnomer that the stand-out number of the night was "Nostradamus."
They played "Prophecy."

Epitaph: Rest in Priest
Johnstown, PA – 11.19.2011
Massive chains adorned steaming smokestacks. Colossal pyro singed the first four rows. Smoke cannons belched to the rafters. A thousand lasers dazzled our brains. And none of it was necessary once the first note of unbelievable volume reached our ears.
If they’ve lost a bit of agility, the initial number proved Judas Priest has lost no talent, skill, or edge in four decades. Rob Halford’s vocals rang crystal clear and strong; high notes carried to the furthest reach of the stadium seemingly without amplification. His ability to sustain would shame a distance runner’s wind. Glenn Tipton’s quiet confidence carried his skilled lead notes in waves over the floor. The refined candor in that smile we so easily recognize engaged every fan near the front.
While Ian Hill held post at the rear, his bass came through powerfully, as did percussion from Scott Travis. Richie Faulkner, new to the line-up this year, supplied athletic antics, riffs, and a huge grin. Obviously having the time of his life, he gave us the time of ours.
The chronology led us through 40 years of heavy metal, from its birth to present with JP there every step of the way. Sure, the most hard-core Priest fans know every song from every collection from every decade, but this history of album covers on the big screen and insightful commentary between songs brought all of us into the creative mindset.
Despite several bogus set lists circling the World Wide Web, the night included all the crowd-pleasers:
· A tongue-in-cheek, “Turbo Lover.”
· “Hell Bent for Leather” replete with obligatory chrome.
· Full fan lead vocals in “Breakin’ the Law” (but that’s okay because everyone from veterans to Biebers knew the lyrics).
· Raucous crowd response in “You Got Another Thing Comin’.”
· High energy “Livin’ After Midnight” as a closer.
Halford bestowed upon “Diamonds and Rust” a haunting ballad lead-in, and equally haunting credit to writer, Joan Baez.
But the stand-out number of the night could only be “Nostradamus.” From sound quality to cadence to glam reaper costuming, they nailed it, hands down.
Epitaph is defined as a phrase written in memory of someone passed. It’s a misnomer in this case – Judas Priest will never be past-tense. |

I have to know if the U.S. tour will continue in 2012 after the leg in Japan?
Us fans in the state of Wisconsin sure hope you make it somewhere further north than Hammond Indiana some time before you end the Epitaph tour. I've seen the band in the city of Milwaukee, outdoors at the Alpine Valley Ski Resort (west of Milwaukee, also famous as the site where we lost Stevie Ray Vaughn) and I've caught the band a couple of times in Green Bay, Wisconsin as well. But I have to see the Epitaph tour.
By the way, I'm a 55 year old guitarist/vocalist that still covers some of my personal favorites like "Victim of Changes", "Beyond the Realms", & "Dreamer/Deceiver" in my band and at every appearance we make in my statewide area.

I've been a Priest fan since I was 9 years and was deeply fascinated by their music and style as I turned 11
I was raised up with heavy music in the background and it was my father who always played Judas Priest. I salute Priest playing their songs on youtube.
I have all their CDs DVDs (even rare) concert T-shirts and LPs and a pick from glenn. But unfortunately I have only seen one of their concerts and it was the farewell concerthere in Denmark to Copenhell.
I stood right up front along with the guys and we drew so much attention from the stageso it ended up glen and rob walked to the edge of the stage right in front of us (this was just after a song) pointed at us and said "you guys fucking rocks "
It was the wildest experience and I look forward to read about all your experiences with Priest
Hard rocking greetings from Denmark

I agree completely. I realize that huge world tours have to pick and choose their sites but... No shows within 1300 km of Winnipeg? Not even Minnesota?! For an idea of the scale we're talking about, put a circle with a 1300 km radius over the British Isles... How could the heart of the continent get left "out in the cold" like this?
Meanwhile St. Louis and Chicago are only 475 km apart. There's one show in each and one (Springfield) in between.
Why not one show in the Grand Forks Alerus Center or the Fargo Dome? That would give fans in Manitoba, North Dakota and South Dakota and chance. I'm sure there would be many in the crowd from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Iowa too.
Priest has given me a lot through the years, and I'd love one more chance to 'pay my respects' as it were.

I'm sad and disappointed about the lack of US / Canada dates.
What about Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada - eh?!
No Minneapolis date either!? Com'on man!
Going to all corners of the planet...I don't think so...
I have to travel to Calgary 12+ hours from Winnipeg or Edmonton 15+ hours from Winnipeg in order to see you guys!?
Here is to wishful thinking that you may still come to Winnipeg. I saw you for your Nos and Angel tours. It would be awesome to see you one last time.
Hey we got our NHL hockey team back the Jets...go Jets go...
No disrespect intended, I'm just disgruntled.
See you on the road, RedCooper |
