I know it Ron! I would love to see them tour alot less even if it means I never get to see them live again over here....I would much rather have a new LP every year!

I lay money on that the next LP will be totally awsome old school heavy metal because if they don't .....there will be alot less fans at the shows.

J.D., I agree 1000000000%!!!

Remember when they would put out an LP every year (or sooner)???

You laid it out perfectly from DOTF to now...Not even the new Live CD is going to come close to satisfying my need for some new Priest Metal!!!!!!

Well.....yeah Ron I guess I can see your point........but if they are going to create an experimental album like Turbo,Demolition or Nostradamus........

I wish they would make "2 albums in the studio"...and release them 6 months apart from each other.....that way us rivit headed iron dogs that  crave

heavy metal can get our fix from our favorite band!!!    I just hate it when they do an experimental album because its going to be about a 3 year wait

before the next album comes out and I freaking hate that!   They released Defenders Of The Faith in 1984 and it was 6 years before we all got an

album that was a what I like to call a "normal heavy metal album" from Judas Priest when they released Painkiller in 1990.........................

Then they release "Jugulator" in 1997 and even if some don't like the album it was a heavy metal album in the vien of Painkiiler.......

And then it took them 4 years just to release the experimental "Demolition" album........then Rob comes back and releases "Angel Of Retribution"

and then it takes 3 years just to release the experimental "Nostradamus"?   Thats what bothers me the most.  Judas Priest's next studio album

HAS TO BE one of thier best records ever or else they will not be filling concert seats for very much longer.......thier heavy metal fans want some

traditional classic oldschool blood pumping fist raising screaming heavy metal mayhem just for our forum member and my good friend THE HELLRIDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But isn't it a testament to Priest that they have created such a variety of music that there's something for everyone??

You know me J.D., I feel just about the same as you do and your opinion of that era and Turbo (and Ram It Down isn't rated much higher IMO).

Being that as it is, at least Turbo brings Priest music to an otherwise uninterested fan, who then gets the pleasure of hearing all the other goodies that Priest have to offer

LOL! Yeah I know.....but you have to realize the level of hatred I have for "Turbo".(lol!)  You are right what you said....its up for opinion......but I can't help an  O.C.D.(obsession compulsive disorder)

I just can't refrain from bashing the Turbo album.  I think also why is that in 1986 they were coming off an album in 1984 title 'Defenders Of The Faith'.......meaning defending the faith of heavy metal's spirit...

.....and then they did a 180 turn and dropped everything they were defending and joined the other team...meaning..they sold out to the mid 1980's hair band era style of commercialism...............................

And the songs they wrote for Turbo to me were not and still are not "quality Judas Priest songs".    So my opinion is just that..."its my opinion" and I'm not saying that everybody has to agree with me.

It is what it is............I wish Turbo never would of been born!     (LOL!) Russian Priest! LOL!!!   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Russian Priest from Monday, July 13, 2009 3:17:17 PM)

Of course, I respect your opinion too... But when someone says the next phrases "How can anybody disagree that "Turbo" is Judas Priest's worst album?" or "Grade this album an "F" for "failure" I cannot pass it by. It sounds like your opinion is only the right one and cannot be wrong. You said it with certainly, that's why I told that you should write "IMO" in your post. Sorry if I wrong...

Thats cool Russian Priest.....very good post and I respect your opinion.   Turbo for me is....................well ,lets just leave it at that! LOL Russian Priest! LOL!

No worries my friend.....everybody has an opinion. I've seen someone post a while back that they "hated Painkiller" album.....and I've seen a post where

someone hated "Screaming For Vengeance".......I've seen a post where someone couldn't stand "British Steel" there are many different opinions in here

and there is not one of them that is "wrong" because its up to the individual to decide what they like obviousy as you already know......

Judas Priest are the best band in the world...that is something hopefully that we can all agree on!

J.D., I've read this post and cannot agree. I like "Turbo" too much, it's one of the most favourite albums to me. It sounds perfect and has wild energy, always blows my mind away. Yes, there is some glam-rock sources, but it's not a problem for JP - every album they do something special, and do not plagiat from themselves.

Turbo lover - great song with great atmosphere created by good-choosen sound effects, perfect refrain that sends shivers down my spine! Perfect work!
Private property - I like this song executing live! Good choice to head-bang "Hands up! Ooo-ooo!" When they played it in Moscow 2005, I think it was the best their perfomance on that show.
Rock you all around the world - great fast song!
Out in the cold - a masterpiece! Unbelievable song! Great mix of hopelessness, male firmness, unrequited love and coldness that reproduces in every sound, in every note. One of the best priest's songs ever.
WIld nights - good riffs, good lyrics ;) perfect refrain to sing together! Real rock-hymn of 80's!

And all other songs are also very-very good! Don't understand why you think so, but you should write "IMO" in your post, no doubt.

About "Nostradamus":
Every time I enjoy this album. I think JP showed us how old-school heavy metal music should develops. They didn't make anything new with song's compositions, it were the same classic riffs, but they did new approach to songs: new arrangements, new ideas, new sounding, new sences, new instruments, new vision... a lot of "new" in old genre. They've opened our eyes to see "Heavy metal has not died and there are too many horizons in our favourite genre". That's why I like this album. My respect to JP for it. Hope in next album they will do big work and we'll see something special again

I can understand why people dont like it as much as other Priest albums, but Nostradamus (IMO) is a truly epic album, when you listen to it all the way through without skipping songs its even better. The way every song is a perfect chain to the next song is very amazing, and the way some songs build up much anticipation for the next like Dawn of Creation does for Prohecy and Sands of Time leads Into Pestilence and Plague (best song on album IMO) is just amazing. i love this album no matter what people say.
[sygy] Tuesday, June 30, 2009 7:48:37 AM
I still love the whole Nostradamus Album and I'm listening it very, very often.... AoR was a great Album, but Nostradamus is a Masterpiece...probably one of the best Albums in the Rock history...
[Trashcan Man] Monday, June 29, 2009 8:23:01 PM
A year later and I'm still listening to it. It's Priest. Granted it's not a straight ahead Metal album, fair enough however I like the opratic parts and orchestration. It gives the Metal some musicality. The blues driven grinding quality of their earlier albums isn't there in every song however their muscisianship is well advanced from the early works. Whatever, the concept album for me as an older fan works. Judas Priest could do a Christmas album and I'd buy the collecters edition too...
[J.D. DIAMOND] Thursday, June 11, 2009 5:41:27 PM
I could'nt   "agree"  more with you here Electric_Eye.    I give the band an  "A+" for effort and originality for Nostradamus. But for me as well as you,the song writting is the key to why I do not care for it.

In my opinion...Angel Of Retribution is Judas Priest's 5th best album out of 16 studio albums they have now. And 3 tracks from it I would say are in the top 10 Judas Priest songs of all time with

"Judas Rising.........Demonizer......and Hellrider".   Nostradamus has nowhere near the song quality that these tracks have to me.  It just proves that they are not a band that should be taking on

these kinds of projects.  Judas Priest does best while creating "heavy metal"........not "opera".

[Electric_Eye] Thursday, June 11, 2009 8:56:23 AM
While I give Priest credit for the time and dedication that was put into creating Nostradamus  --I just did not like it.  It is for me the most disappointing album that my favorite heavy metal band has ever put out.  Back in 2005 I was elated when Angel of Retribution came out.  It had been 15 years since a Rob Halford-lead Judas Priest had put out a studio album and to give you an idea of how much I liked it  --at the end of 2005 most of the tracks from AOR had the highest play count on my iPod that year.

As for Nostradamus, the pace of the album for me just doesn't cut it.  I like to listen to music while working out and just found myself skipping over too many tracks that i just didn't like.  Again, A for effort, but low marks for end result.  I cringed when I heard the tour would include a complete rendition of the album live  --fortunately for me that tour didn't stop in Atlanta because I would not have gone and that would have just not felt right  --sitting at home while the Priest was in town.

Now here in 2009 Priest will be here in part touring to celebrate the 30th anniversary of British Steel --and playing that great album in it's entirety.  I cannot tell you how stoked I am to hear 'Steeler' and 'Rage' live.  I love this band  --have since I first heard them  --and I've enjoyed just about everything they have put out (minus the Ripper years) during their long and stellar career of waving the heavy metal banner.  So it pains me to be critical of something the band put a lot of effort and energy in to produce  --but critical of Nostradamus I am.  I had an uneasy feeling when I first heard about a concept album of the life and times of Nostradamus  --and unfortunately, IMHO anyway, my fears were realized.

Looking forward to seeing the Priest in 2009 @ Verizon Wireless Encore Park in Alpharetta GA!
[J.D. DIAMOND] Wednesday, June 03, 2009 4:54:44 PM
Nostradamus is etched in stone forever more. There are a couple of tracks on this album that are ok in my opinion, not to me but to others it may be thier best album.

But now I feel it should be time for the band to move forwards. As Hellrider mentioned a while back...they took approx. 3 years creating Nostradamus(2 and a half)and another year touring it.

With this British Steel tour they are doing right now,......after this tour it would be interesting to see what the band does next......I would like to see them take some time off for a change

and rekindle some next studio album thoughts.  The next Judas Priest LP is going to be very critical for the band's career.
[ron h] Monday, June 01, 2009 4:53:37 AM
I will say that I enjoy it more now than when I first bought it...a funny thing though, my Metal friends are mixed on it, but my non-Metal friends like it more than they do...I wonder why??

Rocka Rolla,Turbo & Nostradamus are all kick ass albums, priest never puts out any thing bad imo.

I dont like RR, never have.  its just boring.  that and nost, I dunno, I could give nost another try sometime, RR, nope.  if they re recorded it or played bits live, fine and well.  but, perhaps turbo works for me as I was right in the target audience when it came out, think I was 13 when I got it.  dunno, but I would in a total ranking put in probably close to the middle.  there are a few other discs below it, if I realy think about it.  POE, its all good stuff, but on the disc I dont care for it as much, live is beter.  sounds very restrained on the disc, lacking energy

that RR cover is awesome though.

Wow  Head Banger...Turbo better than "ROCKA ROLLA"?????   Man,the hardest thing for me to do at this website is having to realize that we all have different opinions.....

But man, my ears Rocka Rolla's song writting and an album as a whole knocks the socks off of Turbo so much I can't begin to post how !! LOL!!

And "way" better than Nostradamus...I have to go with Nostradamus....I still believe to me that the songs on Turbo are the very worst of Judas Priest.

If there was an album called " The Worst Of Judas Priest" and it had 10 songs on it....7 of them would be from!

What do you call it when a Turbo album is smashed and it still plays afterwards?      .....     "A Shame". LOL Head Banger!!!!! J/K

LOL! But to each his own man,its still cool to see different opinions even if you don't agree with them.If we all had the same thoughts,it would be boring right?

How can anybody disagree that "Turbo" is Judas Priest's worst album? Man Maple Syrup this album reeks of terrible songwritting."Turbo Lover and Locked In are two of Judas Priest's worst songs they have ever written
and in my book is an embarrasment to fans of Judas Priest and the entire heavy metal community. YUK! LOL!

Well it strikes me as very strange that they stated that they were going to perform the whole of Nostradamus live and they've decided instead to do an album that is not that far off 30 years old instead.

In London they played 2 songs from Nostradamus.  They hardly plugged the new album did they?!

So if they want to play it so very very very much, why not do it on the back of the release?

Oh well maybe they will in 29 years.

Overall, I really like the album. Lately I haven't listened to it as much, but that is normal. When it was first released I don't think I took it out of the cd player for months. While I do think it is inferior to AOR, there are still some strong tracks on there: "Prophecy", "Death", "Persecution", "Exiled", "Nostradamus", and "Future of Mankind".

Maybe I will appreciate this album alot more when Priest releases the next album.

That's the way JD. And although Nostradamus may not have hit as hard as AOR did...the Priest Feast is one of the best tours this band has made, never before have they been so hungry to blow us away with such amazing shows. Plus, as far as Nostradamus album goes...hey at least you can say we got a new bone crunching essential Priest song....Death. Other than that, one of my favourite Priest songs has also come on this record...Visions. I'm sure their next album will be something bone crunching. Nostradamus isn't bad...they gave us something very epic which when listened to from beginning to quite amazing. Now let us see them do a mini Nostradamus tour after the US tour and then back to a true Priest record.

Right on man.  I still don't have any "faith" to keep. Since the year 2000....9 years have passed with 3 albums under thier belt ...the experimental and terrible(in my opinion)"Demolition" from 2001....
.....the killer album of true British Heavy Metal in "Angel Of Retribution" from 2005 .....and the again "experimental" album of Nostradamus from 2008......... There is no telling "what" the band will do next....

Thats "one" album in the last 9 years that is a worthy Judas Priest album in my opinion only,I know we all have different opinions here,I'm just giving mine thats all.So to "me" I have no faith in the band returning to it's "roots" here.
I want a killer album like Retribution, but I don't have any faith in them delivering one.  How can I?

If I am wrong,I will log on here and admit it in front of everybody. But I don't think I'm going to be wrong here,I think with Rob's slow stage movement and with Deep Freeze's posts about how he just does'nt seem to be "into it" anymore...makes me think that the band should just retire after this British Steel set list-tour.

In my opinion,Nostradamus should of been the time when the band should of pulled everything together and tried to create the best Judas Priest album they could possibly create, like they did with Angel Of Retribution which may not be Priest's best album, but they sure as hell came me its the band's 5th best album. But I just don't see them "returning to thier roots". Thats just my opinion. Call me a pessimist, and I "am" but I  "may" be right here folks.
