I have been enjoying the posts in this thread. I personally do not care how the discussion develops. I'd like it to be very open. It has also been quite educational. And best of all, I get to know more Priest Fans !!!
History and culture (environment) does influence people's mind. It also affects how people express their taste in art and music. So as faith and language we speak affect how we behaive. Do you guys think UK is more group oriented culture than the US ? If so, this may be the reason why UK bands seems have developed in the way they did... (got together, exchanged ideas, influenced each other, etc)
Bible is an amazing book. Unfortunately, people has twisted things around for centuries which sometime lead it to a terrible violence. Of course this can be said to any other religion. I am not bashing down on Christianity at all. I also understand that the US constitution was founded based on a Christian faith. Then, gradually it was taken away by their own government. So many freedom has been taken away since then. It seems everything is under the Government control now. Everything is enforced and limited. The Government, enemy of the State, and people are voting for them.
This is how I see it in my own selfish way. Please correct me if I am wrong ?

I think in America, music was real and alive in the 50s. Then the 60's hit. British Invasion came. These guys were all friends and exchanged ideas. Americans panicked (well not exactly), and tried to COMPETE with the British. That is where it went wrong....
They started to make music for a wrong reason. imho. Competition seems to be EVERYTHING in America. More so than any place else on the planet. I think defining identity is very important for American people especially since they are young country. They want AMERICA to be the best (whatever that means to them...) , and be the center of the world attention. They have done well in many ways, but sacrificed in quality a lot .... A LOT.

I would say most people in WV wear shoes, and at least 85% of them under the age of 60 can read and write. I live just a couple miles from the WV border and also work there. I can honestly say I hate the way the media portrays WV. Anyone out of the area deliberately seeks out the most uneducated idiotic person they can find to interview. That's not truly representative of the large majority of the population but everyone in the US thinks that all West Virginians are inbred, backward, gun toating, morons. Makes me so happy I live in Virgnia.

I'm kidding of course about the hillbilly thing but West Virginia has such a reputation in other parts
of the country.
True story: When my mother moved to Nebraska(to drop me)(lol) she was in a store and the clerk noticed
an accent so she asked where she was from and my mother says "West Virginia." The clerk stepped
around the counter and looked at her feet then stepped back around the counter. So, my mother was like
"what's that all about?" and the clerk said "I heard people in West Virginia don't wear shoes."

Well, Section 118, Row 10 looks good. I have had similar seat before and I have to say thse are one of my favorite. If you went with the floor section, a lot of times you will be obstructed by people infront of you. I once had a 5th row on section LF (not the exact same venue). I was pissed entire time because people held up big stupid signs every time my 'hero" looked toward us. We were completely blinded. I got the 4th row dead center for the Priest, I am thinking its gonna be fine.
How far are you from the stage do you know? If its too close you may have some obstruction, but less likely. Secion 109 / 118 would be my favorite ~!!

If it helps, its directly to the right side of the stage, section 118, row 10. (I don't know if this will mean anything unless you are familiar with the layout of the Air Canada Center. But thanks for your advice, Bud. I just want to have a great time. The Spousal Unit () was afraid to get anything higher up in a balcony, because then he runs the risk of me stage-diving, landing in the drum kit and getting arrested.....hmmmmm.......still could happen if I play my cards right...
Budred wrote:
I'd say that there are a few things to consider. First how close to the stage are the seats on the side.
Too close on the side gives you an obstructed view of the stage. Assume there are 5 sections on the side.
The second half of sec. 2 and sec. 3 would be ideal. You would be over top of the crowd, you would be close
enough to the stage to see everyone in the band clearly, and you would be back far enough to enjoy the
stage show. If you take the floor seats is it festival seating or reserved. If it's festival take the floor seats and
arrive early and you'd probably end up next to the stage. If it's reserved try to get in the first 5 or 6 rows or
you'll probably be constantly on the move trying to see overtop the people in front of you.If this turns out to be
the case stick with the side. You can rest, have a great view, and have a more enjoyable experience. This was today's babble from Budred. Peace!

Got a bit of a dilemma - have what I am assuming are good seats - lower level, to the right of the floor seats - possibly a good view of Ian LOL....but now a friend has asked if we want to go in on some floors instead.....and sell my tickets.....don't know if I should - rows 7, 12, 20 & 29 are still available according to the ticket info, but it'll cost a bundle. I figured that since it's my first Priest show I should go for it, but I don't know which will be a better spot to be in...

At first, I kept it all the original inserts and plastic cases. As my collection increased, I decided to go minimum space saving. So, I got myself few CD organizer and just kept the insert and disc. Then tossed away all the plastics. But now I am back to keeping all the original with plastic case on newer purchase.
I have about 300 Cds now. How about you guys ??? How are you keeping them ? any photos ???

I think if you have a good company, you will enjoy the show regardless. Lower seats are great, but some time if its too close your neck will be stiff next day for sure. lol
I got 4th row dead center from the stage, but not sure if its the best seat. I could go bit far from the stage like VIP area. which venue are you going to ?

Been a while since I drug that one out. Would rather play the album I want to hear. I bought it for the cool box most of all. (Quoting Message by metal12 from Saturday, September 03, 2011 1:07:40 AM)

I think their 5th show may be the best, cause they are all warmed up by then, but still have tons of energy. I do not know. May be THE last show... cause this is their last tour unfortunately.
I hope its gonna be with one of the show I am going ~!!!!!! and yours ~!!!!!! GIVE THEM LOUD FEEDBKACK YEAH !!!!! ~!!!!!~!!!!!!!!
Hey Metal12! I was wondering the very same thing...this will be my first Priest concert too, also been waiting twenty-something years for this! It could go either way - by the end, they could be warmed up and really rocking, or worn out. I'd think somewhere in the middle would be the best. But I'm thinking that the whole tour will be AWESOME!!!!! I'd suspect they get their energy off the crowd, too, so everybody GO NUTS and fire them up!!!
metal12 wrote:

the VERY first show of the tour ? the VERY last show of the tour ? or middle of the tour ? or depend on the Venue, the band decides to get into real rockin' mode ??
I'd suggest getting the Electric Eye DVD. It has some BBC performances from 1975 to 1980, all music videos from 1980 to 1990, and most importantly the Dallas '86 concert (aka Priest...Live VHS) in remastered form. If you're not too irritated by the Turbo-era songs and stage clothes, it's a nice concert to see.
If you're in for a more classic performance, get Live Vengeance '82. As the name suggests, it's from the time they peaked in America, and has a much different setlist to Dallas '86. It's currently the earliest full concert video that has been officially released.
Those two are the most essential ones for any Priest fan.

JAPAN TOUR DATE 2012 I am wondering if they are really coming to Japan. Tokyo date which has just announced 2012 - Japan: 16th february Budokan / Tokyo is not for Judas Priest concert, said the Venue(Budokan) Artist Other than Judas Priest is going to held the concert at Budokan. I have 2 currently
1) The Essential Judas Priest
2) Metal Works '73 -'93
I used to have Metalogy but ripped the first 3 discs and sold it. (I do not remember why / how I did not rip the 4th disc as i just found out it was missing)
But anyway, why do I need the other two if I already own most of the studio albums?? Should I also sell the two as well and get rid of the complation albums ?? or which is the keeper (including the ones that is not lised) ? Would you buy the single cuts ? I guess complation are for fans who just wants a little bite.

British Steel, Defenders Of The Faith, Hell Bent For Leathe, Painkiller, Point of Entry, Sad Wings Of Destiny, Screaming For Vengeance, Turbo, .......... dunno actually. LOVE THEM ALL.
Ok, help me out then... in which order do you like your priest album ??
I am originally from Tokyo, Japan. But has been a long resident of Florida, USA. I love both some things are better than other. I miss Japanese authentic quality food, neat and clean city. But I enjoy multi -culture that offers in Florida. People come from all over the world here. I wish I was connected with people tho. Has traveled to entire Eastern and Western United States. I liked New York, and San Diego. Would love to visit England, Ireland, Italy, Belgium, France, Germany, .. pretty much any European countries. Also, Scandinavian countries. haha.
Thank you thats a good point. These days there are lots of re-master this, re-master that to boost up on the sound. But I always thoguht re-master means up grade. Then I realized some of the review was not good while some were excellent. Confusing. Its amazing tho, how people can really tell so clearly how its better / worse. I do not have ears for it !
I don't have the original CDs, but I do have most of them as original vinyls...
A lot of the remasters suffer from the so-called "loudness war", i.e. the dynamic range (difference between the loud and silent parts) has been compressed to make the CD sound louder. Which is utterly stupid, because AFAIK everyone still has a volume knob or slider in their CD player. It also tends to make the albums sound more "piercing" (i.e. the higher frequencies are louder). In fact, if you listen to the CDs loud enough you can hear the distortion this practice causes. Also, sometimes there's an over-application of noise reduction, making the records sound somewhat muffled at points. The only good reason to keep the Remasters is the bonus tracks.
So yeah, if you can afford and find the original CDs, get them if you want better sound quality (in my opinion). But you should do just fine with the Remasters as well, it's your call. I wouldn't suggest replacing the whole catalog, you could buy one original CD that you also have as a remaster, and then compare yourself. You guys probably has the original CD release from 80s ??? do you think its worth replacing them to re-master version thats are now out ??
I have pretty much all the new remaster versions, but I was wondering if original release were better ?
WOW that's really messed up !!! and SUCK BIG TIME !!!! After all these songs belong to the Priest. I hope I do not have any GULL labled albums... let me go check..
Okey, I have "KOCH Records label (http://www.kochrecords.com) on my ROCKA ROLLA and SAD WINGS OF DESTINY album. Bought these two form official Amazon web site (not market place in the US). I hope its an authentic or whatever...
I am all new to the details of the Band history, so thank you so much for explaining it to me.
The reason both Sad Wings and Rocka Rolla were not released with the Remasters is very simple. Gull Records owned the rights to the first two records, but due to the fact the company (Gull) did not really back the band and left them pretty much no better off from the sale of those to records, Judas Priest broke their contract with Gull and came to Columbia Records? in the U.S. way back then. Lawyers were involved, but the results were basically Judas Priest is not allowed to perform any of the songs from Sad Wings of Destiny, or Rocka Rolla without having to pay a sum to Gull. The one exception is Diamonds and Rust because it was a remake of a Joan Baez song, therefore no copyright infringment. They just pretty much abandoned any performance of those songs since they had zero desire to pay money to Gull, who offered them no support in their formative years. That is why there a bazillion resales of the Gull label songs with so many different jackets...........They are just trying to make a buck off a band they exploited many years ago.

SUPER ~! Thank you so much. One more thing ... why "J" start with SIN AFTER SIN album instead of their official first album ROCKA ROLLA, and also skipping? SAD WINGS Of DESINY ? [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Vaillant 3.0 from Tuesday, August 30, 2011 9:01:25 PM)

TURBO album songs in the mid 80s in Japan. I just bought this album again for the first time in 27 ? years. I have been actually collecting entire albums. About 5 more studio albums to go. Not sure if I would go Live and Competion albums (I have METALOGY and Unleashed in the East.
I love both of them. I started to listen to Maiden more in the recent years. I have been more familiar with the Priest music much longer even tho I have heard the band name Iron Maiden aboout the same time. Waaaay back in the 80s. Both are great band IMHO, really can not compre the two as they offer different presentation style. I am in the Priest site, so I guess I am supposed to say PRIEST ~!!!
