Thank you very much Metal Goddess :)
How wonderful must have been that tour shows, you have been so lucky! Marvellous audio and visual performances... Out in the Cold must have been also a beautiful, touching opening.
And yes, I knew about glasses and K.K. accident. I have to say, he turned a bad, dangerous accident into a nice, pleasant show ingredient :)
I really like Priest leather jackets and general clothing style in Fuel for Life tour. That's one of many ways in which they've always changed and are always renewed over time.

Turbo was the first Priest show that I ever went to. I remembered thinking, why didn't KK take his sunglasses off??? He never wore them during an entire show before so I thought it was really weird. So when I saw this interview with him and he talked about it, it stuck with me. OUCH!!! Can you imagine how much that must have hurt?! Rob stayed further away from KK's guitar after that he said! I bet Rob felt really bad. But definitely a Spinal Tap moment - just like Rob tipping over the bike a couple days ago.

I love this story, on one side OUCH for KKs eye, but it also makes me laugh cos it's a bit of a spinal tap moment!

I remembered an interview with KK talking about this and just found it. Here it is:

Sunglasses hold a lofty perch atop the list of rock-star accessories, but for Judas Priest guitarist Kenneth “KK” Downing, they also helped hide a nasty secret. When I interviewed KK in 2005 for the San Antonio Express-News, he came clean regarding his seemingly sudden fixation on eyewear.

“Yeah, that was a bit of a horror story,” he said regarding JP’s 1986 “Turbo” tour. “I had this guitar tech who cut my guitar strings off (at the tuning pegs) and left them sticking out about a quarter-inch. (Vocalist) Rob (Halford) was onstage and he twirls around and hits my guitar neck with his arm, and two of these strings punch me in the eye. My eye turned all green and I looked like something out of a horror movie. So, I wore these sunglasses, which was even worse, because the sweat from my forehead steamed up the glasses. Instead of not being able to see out of one eye, I couldn’t see out of either!”

Damn, he still looked good, green eye and all!!

Welcome to the Board Crista!

The glasses were because he broke a string and it hit him in the face. Black eye = sunglasses. lol

I love Priest... Live! stage clothes, K.K. glasses as well ;) They were so... eighties, but with a strong personality.

Stunning video performances, both of  them.

I'd suggest getting the Electric Eye DVD. It has some BBC performances from 1975 to 1980, all music videos from 1980 to 1990, and most importantly the Dallas '86 concert (aka Priest...Live VHS) in remastered form. If you're not too irritated by the Turbo-era songs and stage clothes, it's a nice concert to see.

If you're in for a more classic performance, get Live Vengeance '82. As the name suggests, it's from the time they peaked in America, and has a much different setlist to Dallas '86. It's currently the earliest full concert video that has been officially released.

Those two are the most essential ones for any Priest fan.
