Why does every time a new album come out, people have to compare it to previous material, They wrote this to be NEW not OLD, Listen, enjoy and move on.

Downfall?  I don't think so, Tim.  Priest comes out with a concept album, and people think they are headed for the shitter?  Makes no sense to me.  This album is brilliant.  Granted, it's not Screaming For Vengeance like, but it's a work of it's own.  Give it time, and it will grow on you.  I myself can't wait for the next priest album, but in the mean time, Im going to crank the shit out of this one.  GO PRIEST!!  July 22, Seattle.. Can't wait to see you again!!!!

I make Dpk right there! I think the thread 'Review of Nostradamus' is a better example though, If you look at the first thread and so on, you can draw your own conclusions.

i think that nostradamus is masterpiece.this album contains feelings like malincony with dark e epic elements.i disagree with who  say this is not  priest sound,if we look  back  there are many elements with albums like sad wings of destiny or sin after sin(for example the acustic part of alone remainds me to sad wings atmosfere)mixed with some dark elements of defenders of the faith(propechy e pestilence and plague)or heavy sound of painkiller album(nostradamus and persecution e death)plus new  elements.this is another wonderfull evolution of judas priest the eternal metal gods

Good point about that outside producer. Just like many things in life, it often helps to have an outside person critique.

I feel JP could have trimmed some of the slow intros and made this into a 'trimmed down' 1 disk cd to keep the total cd tempo up and have as good or better product to enjoy. This isn't my favorite JP cd but I really appreciate and like some of the songs. it's my opinion that Priest would have been better served to have brought in a top producer to add a quality 'outside imput' and guide the cd to more success. If you notice Priest had Tom Allmon, Chris Tsangarides(Painkiller-last sucessful JP cd) and then went down and ultimately away from a quality outside producer. KK and Glenn are good but I think they got too 'tunnel vision' and miss important opportunities because they wanted to save money.

Motley Crue had Bob Rock on their latest cd and it's doing well, Metalica has always used a quality producer and their success speaks for itself.  A quality "outside"producer isn't everything but sure helps. Lack of radio airplay has always been a killer for priest tunes!

Great White, no one is going to bash you for making an intelligent posting (whether it's agreed with or not).  If you state something in a nasty manner or out of plain ignorance, then yes, bashing will occur.  A great example of why bashing would occur is by looking at the beginning of this thread.  Read the first couple of pages of it.  There are a ton of good reasons why the person who started this thread got bashed for their comments.  On the flip side, people here do seem to in fact, respect those who do not care for a particular JP album(s).  For example, I refuse to listen to any of the Ripper-era material b/c it's not Rob on vocals.

J.D. Diamond, I have to agree with you ever so strongly about not hearing Rocka Rolla on the new album.  I made myself listen to it just to hear if there was any sound similiar to the early material.  I don't what they're hearing, but there isn't anything remotely similar to the early Priest on the new album.  Queensryche, another Metal band that I enjoy, tried the metal opera stuff too, too much in fact.  So much that most of the fans they had quit listening because they went off the deep end.  I don't mind Priest trying new and inventive material, but I pray they don't continuously pump out metal opera's from now on.

Even though I don't like this album it doesn't make me any less a fan than I was before this album came out.  I didn't get the bands name tattoo'd on me for the hell of it you know.  Funny, I remember back in the early eighties going to priest concerts and it seemed to me that I was the only female fan there, all until Turbo came along, then every chick that was out there jumped on the wagon and went to the concert.  I was disgusted because they were all fake fans and sure shit, when Priest went back to the style they were really known for all the "fans" that came with turbo, with the odd exception, all of a sudden weren't fans anymore.  Priest could put out any sort of album and I'd still stand by them, I might not like it, but I'm such a hard core fan, I'll never fall by the wayside.

Live it will be awesome. I don't think any fan will disagree there, like the album or not. Wait and see.

Faarrr!!! Downfall is a bit drastic!!!  We all love JP or we wouldn't be here wasting our time and energy reading and posting comments about them and their music.  The Downfall of priest won't happen from an album being good or no no...not while all us dedicated fans are here to buy the next album and the next!  ...cos you know what.....we all will!!!  And many if not most of us have little people who now cherish JP my 13 year old son who is coming with me to the concert! Yes Yes Yes.
