And you can wander around with a beer! ... instead of being pinned to the barrier and not being able to breathe or move or risk having the drink knocked out of your hands.. . I love that about small venues. And yeah definately a good way to meet new people. I miss that about arena gigs - it looses the social element.
What do you guys think about them performing Nostradamus as a complete set ?- there was mention of it being performed in theatre halls and opera halls.. etc. You reckon they's be able to sell tickets to people who dont ordinarily listen to JP? I'd love to see it, definately a different experience. But then i think would it be appropriate to scream out Priest Priest Priest!! during the intermission?.. hhaaha [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Soylentgreen4u from Monday, September 29, 2008 10:07:25 PM) | | Soylentgreen4u wrote: | | WELL WE SEEM TO BE IN AGREEMENT ON THIS, ....ANOTHER POSITIVE I NEGLECTED TO MENTION IS, IN A CLUB MORE OFTEN THAN NOT,YOU CAN WANDER AROUND TO MEET AND TALK MUSIC WITH OTHERS,THAT'S ONE OF THE THINGS I REALLY LIKE. | | devils_child wrote: | | Having been to a gig at a smaller venue also (holds about 2500 i think) i know how much better the atmosphere is. I have no idea who calls the shots, wether its the band or the mangement, but i think they need to look at it on a country / city by city basis. 1300 I FIGURE AND IT WAS A GREAT ATMOSPHERE,NO MATTER WHERE YOU WERE YOU FELT REALLY CLOSE TO THE STAGE...SAME WITH MOTORHEAD A FEW DAYS BEFORE AT ANOTHER CLUB IN MONTREAL,ABOUT 2000 THERE,BUT AGAIN MUCH MORE INTIMATE AND A BETTER PARTY ATMOSPHERE. | | devils_child wrote: | | i was wondering too how ticket sales affect later possible tours. I know the 2 shows i saw here in Australia didnt sell very high, but the gigs were amazing, the atmosphere was great. So does i band like priest feel the love from the audience and think that will suffice for a good reason to tour again or do they look at the numbers and go.. well maybe its not worth it. i think It comes down to doing it for the fans or doing it for the money, but obviously they have to at least break even for costs.. so why do that when they know they can tour America or europe and make more money / profit.
I wonder why it took them so long to bring their show down here to Australia... ? same with a few other bands that have toured recently. Edited at: Monday, September 29, 2008 8:24:16 PM |

I tell you, while this last tour was probably the most memorable just because of how close we were and still a full stage (ribs healing nicely, thank you..lol), another one that ranks really high in my mind was seeing Halford in that very small venue in Detroit. Were the stage not 12 feet high, I could have smacked Rob in the foot. Probably would have gotten smacked right back and booted out by the big ol' bouncers but still...raw!
While I would miss the big Priest set, I bet it would have been like that Eddie Trunk show. Can't compare the two as noone called to give ME tickets to Eddie's b-day party! I know some on the board here who were so lucky.... |

The thought of that arsehole wanker P Diddy covering the Metal Gods makes me want to vomit

They were in Winnipeg, and they did not sell out as opposed to Iron Maiden which sold out. I wonder if that means anything in the greater scheme of things. I like both bands. I am a little bit more of a JP fan than IM, in the sense that I listen to more JP on my MP3 player.
I also think that JP music is better to cover to get a crowd pumped. I am just waiting For Kanye West or P-Diddy to re work JP's Breaking the Law/YGATC.

Iam in Winnipeg.. They will be back.. I think alot it has to do with timing.. and the fact of who is opening for them.
When Testament was on 1/3 of the people left to go stand up stairs, by the concessions, and to buy thier concert products. I hope they bring a better opening band with them.... That will help..
