Please excuse my ignorance, but without knowledge of your circumstance, this doesn't make a lot of sense. There are very few instances where the person being punished is truly ignorant of why they are in the wrong. In those cases when this is true, I agree that it is a diabolical injustice. Unfortunately, Murphy's Law is not a defense or excuse for anything. It's just a little joke. Death penalty inmates should be limited to a 5 year appeal process after which, if nothing has changed, the sentence would be carried out within 48 hours after the 5th year conviction date! No need for extra costs to the state and anguish to the families.
