So is this the Farewell Tour or what? Talk of a new album, that probably means a new tour.  Rob taking 50%?? LOL this can't be true. KK is probably upset Rob promotes himself so much at the expense of Priest.  And I will say right now that anytime any of these guys has strayed from the originals, all that has resulted is a 3rd rate version of Priest. I liked the first Fight album's direction and it should have been a Priest album, even more than Painkiller, which was actually a step backward, writing wise.  Demolition I became fond of, just because of its pure tenacity.  But these guys should never, ever split, it's like The Jacksons going out with a replacement, can't be done.  The only way I would go to see this tour is if they got Eddie Van Halen as a guest.  These posts that are giving in to this show a real lack of Priest acumen.

I think that this resembles the Beatles split, with a lot of rumours, victims, guilty guys and the rest. The best is to let it go, maybe we would never will capable of knowing the whole story but the 90 per cent of the band is comfortable with the tour, the music and the money question. But there would be a post tour album or something? Would KK return for a final farewell in England ? Magic... Nostradamus would tell

I don't believe that Rob is taking 50%. No way in hell the other 4 guys agreed to that!!! And secondly, if that were true, which I completely doubt, then why is KK the only one pissed off to the point of quitting? Obviously Glenn and Rob still have a good working relationship and I highly doubt that would be the case if this were true. Ian wants to continue and so does Scott. Why does everyone want to blame Rob for this?

And one more thing, IAN HILL is also a founding member of Judas Priest! Why is everyone forgetting that? We wouldn't have Rob in the band if it weren't for Ian Hill dating Rob's sister Sue and suggesting to Ian that they give Rob on audition. So let's give credit where credit is due! This is not KK's band, this is a group of 5 members that don't always agree on everything. KK didn't want to compromise or felt he couldn't compromise when it came to the direction the band was going in. Obviously, the other 4 members of the band DO AGREE. I believe they are agruing about the new album and the direction Glenn and Rob want to go with it. We'll see when it comes out.

Thanks for the support Spapad.

I guess I just feel that If I don't see them this time, it will be the last time!!!

A new guitarist may breath new life after all...I keep coming back to Scott Travis and Painkiller.

The way the dates are working out, I don't think JP will start the tour of U.S. until Jan of next year. They always take the hollidays off, as they should. One of the many things we shall wait and see.
Taz, nice post. About how I felt about it to. I tried to restrain myself from posting through the pissed off phase.
All true Priest fans will get there eventually.

Thank you for the comments HRMG & AuntieB!!!
Nice to have some postive feedback in this turbulent time with Priest.

I am flying over to see them 2x...along with some other stuff i have planned...

I picked Wolverhampton for a reason.....Here is what I also believe will happen.  (Hope, hope, Hope)

Wolverhampton is basically their back yard....if things settle down a bit by then, maybe KK will be honored with a guest appearance onstage that night.

Let's see if that happens.

Feed back requested:

I am in Section:  Right Balcony Row B

It is listed as "potential partial obstruction".  The women at Civic Hall claims "if" the staging is not too elaborate they can be some of the best seats in the hall.  Otherwise I am screwed and will have to walk to some other place.
So I took a chance.

I like being on Glenn's side and this tour specifically I don't want to be Left stage!  (Sorry Richie!  I do wish you the best though!)

Anyone have experience at this location and Right hand side Balcony Row B?

Yes I agree Bev, I enjoyed reading this as well because it sums up exactly how I feel as well. Well done Tasnam! It seems some of us have gone through the grieving process quicker than others and gotten over our anger quickly while others may be stuck there for quite some time. I hope most fans can get to the acceptance phase before Priest comes to their town. But don't worry, they will come to the US, I'm just not sure if it will be this year or next year.

Why can't he wait into the final tour?

[\~AuntieB~/] Monday, April 25, 2011 6:54:42 PM

With the exception of having tickets, my sentiments exactly!

I hope the fans who believe the band might have been obligated to inform ticket holders sooner so they could alter their plans or return for refund/re-sell their tickets, give it some time.  It is my opinion, telling the truth about this situation is about as difficult as finding Atlantis - lol  I don't really want to know.  I'll leave that nonsense to speculative reporters / journalists.  If the band did not show up for a gig I would expect a refund.  A new guitarist might mean a quality 'Priest gig after all!  But hey.  I might not get that even.  Other than Mexico, there haven't been dates posted for North America.  But I'm spiralling.  So I'll leave my remarks at that, for now.

Cheers!  It was nice reading your thoughts.

What a terrible terrible shame. This is the guy who founded the band. Strong rumour has it that it was finance related. Rob has allegedly insisted that he took 50 % of the band's income since his return (ego.....)  and this caused huge fractions within the group.

I am very very skeptical about it being a health matter. Or if it is, ill helath has been caused by the strife. It must be very very very bitter departure and KK would not take such drastic action lightly. .
[tasnam1] Sunday, April 24, 2011 9:21:21 PM

My thought process went like this:

Phase one:
Denial and disbelief - I can't beleive this is true!  No it is just a spat...the will get over it.

Phase two:
Reisistance - This will rip the band apart, it can't work, this tour will flop and I can't stand to watch it!

Phase three:
Acceptance - OK well this has happened to them and other bands before, and many have survived (and many have not), but they still are going to tour.  I do agree a guitarist is less noticable than a lead singer in a band.
You know Scott Travis came and somehow Painkiller become one of their best releases will new found energy.  Why couldn't the sme be true with this new guy?

Phase four:
Commitmment - I will go see them!!!  I am going to support my favorite band like I support my favorite team even though they also have team line up changes!!!!!!
Just bought my tickets to Wolverhampton on Friday!!!!  I believe a new guitarist will add to the fresh sound to future albums.
I am committed to seeing them this last tour.  Who knows after this Glenn and/or Rob could retire and the band could continue.  (I do not know if I would support the band then/but maybe I would - don't know)
But one thing I do know, I would feel miserable if I did not go see them this last time, then the end for good!!!

I am committed - tickets in hand.  Let's go new guy, make us ALL RE-committed!

KK Thank you for everything!

Man, don't say that until you've seen them.
Those kind of comments sometimes have weird ways of backfiring.

i'm just happy I saw him live before he left. I'm just happy I'm going to see Judas Priest again before they're all dead!
[GuitarGirl013] Sunday, April 24, 2011 2:27:34 PM

Sad to see KK go. He was a great guitarist but he has served his time. Stiil if Judas Priest come to Tulsa, Ok I'm going.

[Rik_] Sunday, April 24, 2011 7:08:39 AM
Agree with soccer stars sentiments. I'll be at Newcastle regardless. Although you identify with all the members of a band that has been around as long as this one, and it's sad to see anyone leave, this isn't going to affect the sound enough to justify NOT going to see them as much as it did when Rob halford left in my opinion. A lead singer with a distinctive voice is hard to replace and are usually the first way you recognise a band when you hear them and watch them, with a few notable exceptions like Angus in AC~DC and the like.
For example, I remember having a Halford CD playing in the car and the person I was travelling with , unfamiliar with Halfords solo stuff wanted to know which Priest album the song was off as he'd never heard it before. He didn't say, (without being able to see them) that's not Tipton/Downing/Hill , He just assumed it was Priest when the singing started.

Admittedly the songwriting contributions of the members is another matter.

HRMG,  I'm with UDO, regarding your post in the main discussion thread regarding KK's retirement.  I certainly hope those who have made plans to follow the tour do not change their plans.  Someone got me a set of various cocktail glasses and some margarita making ingredients - LOL  And of course - to Ken, if you're out there watching ; ) - IF the tour happens to come to the States, and you happen to be at a show near us, drinks are on me this time!  Cheers AxeGod

And now, AuntB must be off to do the laundry : )

Happy Easter!

It is sad that KK Wont be doing the tour and he will be missed but Priest isn't all about KK Downing..
Priest will be coming to Wolverhampton (UK) In July and i WILL be going!! I do want to see Glen,Rob,Ian and Scott one more time and not even KK leaving will change this.

What i would be interested in knowing is if KK has contributed to the new songs for the new album ?
He is an important part of the songwriting team and to lose him would surely be a blow to the band.
