As Bud strolls down the street he looks up and notice's a sign hanging on an old haunt that he used to like to visit. He was going to keep going but decided to stop and have a look inside to see what's up. He noticed it's kind of quiet now but still a few regulars around just hanging at the bar having a discussion. He smiled to himself thinking that no one here would believe that he thought this might be their best album yet. Bud holds up his drink and unknowingly to those still around sends cheers from the back of the Cafe. He finishes his drink and quietly slips out the door unnoticed.

Hello everyone. It's been awhile. No negativity just a quick comment.

I went to the Youngstown show. It's a totally different sounding Priest now. Great musicians just different. Rob is sounding great though. I planned a second show so don't take that wrong.

After multiple listens dare I say I think this may now be my favorite judas Priest album. Thank goodness for Tom Allom and Andy Sneap. This is the first album by Priest that I actually like every song. I really didn't think Priest was capable of a release this good. I bought a signed limited edition(500) Red/black swirl lp that came with a disc and digital download. The second lp is yellow/black swirl. They look really cool. I'd post a pic but I forget how here.

I probably won't bother you fine folks again for awhile. Can't wait for Detroit. Peace!

Budred thought for a second as he walked away. "Freakin' undesirables always tryin' to ruin a good time". He thought it must be the reason for the inactivity. "Way of the world" he proposes. Nothing going on in your own life you may as well try to drag down others too. "Ignore them" he thought. "Mindless people can't help themselves". He couldn't help but think of the old regulars like "Val", HB, Guido, and that guy who's name starts with an A that I can't never remember how to spell when I'm writing and a couple others and how they just keep moving forward even with the undesirables trying to hold them back. Budred thought about how he wouldn't mind visiting the "Priest Cafe" from time to time again but times change and idiots persist so he figures it's best to just keep it a memory. Bud's not really a good writer anyway he just liked the idea of this thread. Kind of fun trying to be imaginative. As he walked away he  saw a billboard for  an Ozzfest show. He thought "Wow" "Didn't even know Ozzy was still doing them". He couldn't attend because he was heading east to Pittsburgh. Ironically he was going to a Sabbath show too. Zakk Sabbath(Zakk Wylde Sabbath tribute). They were opening for Clutch. Anyway in his mind he wished everyone well and thought maybe another time. Take care.

 Budred opens the front door of "The Priest Cafe" and notices the place empty. He steps through the doorway and closes it behind him. He see's some empty glasses at the bar and he can hear some "Stained Class" playing on the jukebox but not a soul in sight. During his last visit he couldn't help but notice all the undesirables hanging around the place and hadn't been back since but it looks as though they may have gone. No evidence what so ever that they were even here. Everything strewn about appears to be from some of the old regulars. As Bud turns to exit he notices a chalk board behind the counter with the day's specials on it. He turns back and walks toward it. He picks up an eraser and wipes away the special and then grabs a piece of chalk. Bud wanted to leave something clever or amusing but his mind was blank. He simply drew a smiley and wrote "Hope all are well". "Cheers!" and signed it "Budred".  He was ready to leave when suddenly he remembered the "Ignore" button. They're still here just invisible.   He sigh's and leaves.    
                                             

I recommend buying it for the two live discs that come with it. 21 tracks from 1984 Long Beach Arena show.

I'm sure it got some treatment but to me it has a raw live sound like it could be the actual recording. It's really good.

I was like you about buying it and for similar reasons but I don't regret getting it.

I bought it for the live disc. To me that was Priest at their peak live so I absolutely love it. (My opinion, only matters to me)

I did listen to Defenders today in my work truck but it was the remastered version that I have on my iPod. Probably sounds the same as the new one.

If you guys aren't already there you really should go to Facebook. They post everything there that get's posted here and more. There is a Judas Priest group with about 19,000 members that is really cool too. Most are friendly there and the admins get rid of the idiots. You would not read near the crap you have to here. Not everyone agrees but it's nothing like what goes on in here. You guys have about 5 people in here that actually like to communicate. The facebook group gets tons of old pics, videos, and so on. There are some newbs who don't know crap about old Priest but it's still cool. Being a part of that isn't much different than being a part of this except you have so much more participation and so much less drama. And there are so many people besides myself there you won't even need to pay attention to me.(or be bothered by me :) .)

...not sure if this is going to be the video or a link but it's "The Eagle Has Landed" by Saxon in Pittsburgh PA Thursday night. My wife took it. It doesn't sound too bad but she's right next to the speakers so there is some distortion. It's worth listening to or I wouldn't post it. She did mess up a little on filming the solos but you guys should still like this.

Since you mentioned me I'll chime in. The thing is I can't really comment on new Maiden. I"m guessing you might remember a post of mine a few years back about a show I went to that had Halford opening for Maiden back in 2000. I mentioned that Bruce went on an anti-gay rant and all I could think of during is Rob backstage maybe hearing this shit. Never liked Bruce Dickenson since. Some here doubted that happened but I can say in all sincerity that I've never lied about anything on here. I've been wrong or mistaken but never lied. It's been 15 years since that happened and I still refuse to purchase, listen to, or acknowledge anything Iron Maiden because of it. Also (and on a different note) ... @ JD specifically, sign up for facebook. Just do it for the Saxon page. I know what you think of them and I'm telling you you would love it. The band is always on there and constantly interacting and posting. I went to the Pittsburgh show last week. I am not saying this for you I'm being serious. I was totally amazed at just how good they were. It had to be close to as good as their early days. They said they haven't played Pittsburgh since 83' so that helps explain why I've never seen them. After the show I was bummed I've never seen them before especially in their prime. They concentrated on three albums(my favorites) for the most part but did play other stuff. Crusader, Battering Ram(new), and others. Biff took a video from the stage to post on facebook. My wife is on it but you have to know where and hit pause to see her but it was still cool. She took some awesome videos for me. I'll post 2 or 3 of them here for you. She got a drumstick and I got a guitar pick. They didn't throw much out so both of us getting something was cool. I think Led Zeppelin was the first band accused of doing this. Believe they even had a term for it. Backward masking. I think I'm finally going to a Saxon show. I told HRMG a few weeks ago that I like Saxon and have listened to them since Denim And Leather. Got called out on that as a liar(basically). Here's the truth. I started listening to them during that time. I liked them a lot for about a 4 album period including Demin..., Wheels Of Steel, and Strong Arm Of The Law. I loved their live disc also and I still have my original copy of it on vinyl. I lost interest after that. I didn't care for nor have I cared for anything since. I missed the only show I knew they played in the area a couple of years ago and wasn't interested enough(even though I did want to see them) to leave the main stage because of my spot on the rail at Rock On The Range. I'm glad I missed those shows now because this tour is a highlight from my favorite Saxon LP's so  this is the best time for me to see them. I'm only going to hear stuff I already know and like. @JD. I know you hate Facebook(and me) but you really should start a Facebook account just for Saxon. They always post, they're constantly putting up vids and interviews, and they'll interact with fans. Very infomative. You don't have to do the facebook thing to be on facebook. Just don't send or accept friend requests. Priest has a good page too but they do quite a bit less and almost no fan interaction. Give it a thought and don't blast me for suggesting it. I just know how much you like these guys and I think you would dig their facebook page. Take Care all!!

@Vail. I'm not sure of the dates and I know it's different than ROTR but  at ROTR much of the info isn't released until a few weeks beforehand. They need to get everyone's days and settimes down. Probably a bit much logistics wise. Did you ever hear why Priest wasn't televised on ASX? I'm still betting it was Priest themselves.

@Guido, I don't read all the posts anymore. I used to do it without signing in but now it's post after post after post and it isn't worth the effort if you know what I mean. My wife and I took a walking trip through Pittsburgh Sunday. Walked up on this by accident.  It's called the "Benedum Center" now but it used to be called "The Stanley Theater". This place holds a special place in my heart. It's where I saw Judas Priest for the very first time. Judas/White Snake/Maiden 1981. (Maiden's first U.S. tour). I saw Ozzy Osbourne here the first time(w/Randy Rhoads) in 1981 also. Def Leppard opened up. Their first U.S. tour also. Can't imagine I'll ever forget this building.

I always forget to look for that. Maybe next time.

We stayed in a hotel. The first two years we bought the hotel package. You end up in a nice hotel (Hyatt, etc.) but the amount of time spent there doesn't really justify the cost for me. I just go on Kayak.com every year about a month or so prior to the event and look for something (comfort inn, holiday inn, and check the reviews.) I get a room for about $69.00 a night each year that way. Never more than 10/15 min drive to the stadium. No matter anything that I may have commented during the Epitaph tour I really have enjoyed the two shows since. Agree or not Richie changes their sound and I think the first time out that was a little tough for me. He also puts his own spin on the solo's but that's OK it's his style I just wasn't used to it. I do feel that there best is behind them but that's not ripping them it's just that they're getting older. I feel like you do as far as I'm just glad they're still doing it and doing it pretty well at that.  Whether we ever get anything out of them again or not I got my final wish from them and will expect no more. I just wanted them to give us one last quality cd and a good tour to go with it. I feel I got it. Not backing off my production comments but like I copied and pasted here from my first post on it I think it is a very good cd. Hope Mr. Francis cleans up a little in here for you guys. Take care.

I thought Rob sounded good on "Painkiller" and most everything else also. I liked them a little better back in October in Pittsburgh but I think that just had to do with them being inside and better acoustics. I was worried about how they would sound @Rotr but overall I thought the sound was pretty good. Really loud and didn't fade in and out like some bands. I also liked that the crowd for the most part was enjoying them. Some headliners @ROTR get a mass exodus during their sets and It happened to Priest too but a good portion stayed so I was glad for them on that one. As for K.K. and his comments maybe he was referring to the band as a whole. I thought the tempo slowed a bit their last few tours. (That's not ripping them either it's just a fact of life and aging). Maybe he had trouble dealing with that. Personally I thought B.S. was really good but it was Epitaph that disappointed me. Maybe subtle changes were taking place that he was noticing more than the fans were and he figured the best was behind them and maybe they should let it go. I know I felt that way. I think they stepped it up a little on R.O.S. tour and CD but I don't think we're ever going to hear Priest of old again. Maybe that was K.K. was thinking and maybe he felt a better legacy for them would be to end it rather than to go on and tarnish it. Only guesses because I surely don't know.

A whole new level of crazy in here. With me it's more of a "we just don't agree" thing but this is nuts. This site is pretty much dead anyway but this makes it impossible for anyone to actually want to participate here. Doesn't Mr. Francis see this? Surely he could stop it? Probably Maiden fans trolling their asses off. ...or just freakin' idiots!

I'm not liking it as much as the last two releases but there is some good stuff on it. They're taking a bit of a "pop" direction with this one.

When I checked in this time I knew full well to expect stupidity from you so I threw the Saxon and Poor production comments out there just to give you ammo because I knew that shallow little brain of your's wouldn't allow you to just  say nothing. I know your going to come back with all your cursing and name calling and you're going to think you're king but really your nothing. Just an old Priest fan stuck in the 80's with a shallow and closed mind who's too arrogant and too dumb to understand how unimportant this really is. I've quit posting stupid shit on here quite a while ago. The last time was July of last year and then now and yet you still persist. Let it go man, life is short.

Except for the production quality I don't get all the bashing either. I thought I was one of their most critical fans and after the first song released I thought that's what I was going to do. After listening to it though I was so happy. I really don't know what people want or expect but I think we got a quality Cd out of them. My personal opinion is that this is their highlight since Rob's return. The older fans have to appreciate this album.(you would think). The younger crowd I would give a pass. It's hard for young people to like anything old. All I know is that for the first time since "Demolition" I am thoroughly enjoying a Judas Priest release and that makes me so happy. If others don't like it so be it.

....this is what I said about R.O.S. The only thing I said after was that I'm listening to it less because I think the production is poor. If you want to call me retarded for this that's a pretty lame reason but I guess unlike me you are entitled to your opinions. Take care sir!

@HRMG, I'm glad you went just to experience it. When you listen to the bands talk during their sets or read anything they say after it's obvious this festival is a major U.S. event each year. Totally understand about maybe not liking a lot of the music but this show is more than just the music. What I do like is the diversity. One it allows people to spread out a little because everyone doesn't like the same thing. They're usually pretty good about mixing up the side stages so that they almost always have two different styles of music so it's easier to find bands to pass on. They have 40 to 50 bands for the weekend and I usually catch around 20 of them.(on average). 23 this year, 22 the year before and some years just under 20. Each year I only have to miss 2 or 3 that I wanted to see. Considering bailing for future shows because it's getting pretty costly but I said that after year 2 and this was year number 6 so we'll see.

@HRMG, surely you should have known that was just to get the resident loudmouth going.(lol) I like Saxon. I've listened to them since the Denim And Leather album. I would have watched them at ROTR but I stayed at the mainstage for the first 4 bands that day because I was right up front against the rail and wanted to experience that madness. You saw how nuts it gets on the field and trying to get up front when all that craziness is going on is nearly impossible so I couldn't leave. ROTR is a blast and the craziness is one of the reasons. Missing Saxon was one of only 2 or 3 regrets that weekend.

Went to ROTR this weekend. Had a blast as usual. Really dug the Priest performance. I took a few videos I'll post if anyone cares to see them. Agree with HRMG about weight limit on crowdsurfers and the chick in the wheelchair had a blast doing that. I have a really good pic of her I'll post. So glad they have a festival like this here. I've heard a few bands over the years, this year included say that this was "California" style. I loved most of the bands I watched with a few exceptions. I was going to watch Saxon but didn't really care about a band with such non relevance in the music world and stayed at the mainstage to get up front for "In This Moment". Rob must have liked them also because I have a video of them w/ Rob watching from the side of stage. I thought that was cool. As for Priest not playing You've Got Another Thing Comin' I was so glad, the one song that I am so sick of hearing. I noticed a lot of the younger people around me giving props to Priest and i thought that was cool. After the first show w/ Richie that I saw I thought Priest was finished but I have to say he's fitting in well and even though he changes Priest's overall sound I think he is good for them.  I hope we get at least one more cd and tour out of them. (I just hope they get someone that can actually produce the thing this time).  I heard it wasn't televised and I thought that sucked. We have a "Country" music fest here that they televise each year and sometimes the headliners are left out. They say it's the artists and or their management and contractually they aren't allowed to be televised so maybe that was the issue for Priest. I'll put a few videos up and maybe a pic or two and then I'll leave you good folks alone again. Take care!

It's hard trying to come up with words when when I have a way of saying things I shouldn't. It's sad to read this but I completely understand and support your decision. It's easy to say it when your not dealing with something but I believe I would make the same choice. I don't think I could have been brave enough to deal with everything that you already have. You're obviously a strong person and have great courage and I would guess that you don't deserve everything you've been forced to deal with. I would like to apologize for my first ever comment in this thread. No malice intended just didn't think it through. I liked this thread and I thought it was cool when people would actually role play. It was kind of fun writing from a 3rd person viewpoint and I only wish I would have done it more. I just sold my tickets to "Louder Than Life" festival. I'll still be attending the Pittsburgh show but the more I hear this album the less I'm liking it. I think it has some great songs on it and I agree with JD with the Painkiller comparisons but I guess I'm just one of those trendy idiots because I think the production is almost as bad as the production on "Jugulator". This album has so much potential but for some reason whoever did the producing held them back. Not sure if Glenn is afraid to let Richie showcase his skills or what the deal is but the guitars sound so low they sound weak. Then they turned the bass and drums up too much. You need to crank it to get good sound but then the bass and drums are too much. The first couple of weeks I couldn't get enough of this CD but now I have trouble even putting it on. I can't see spending close to a grand and not really enjoying who I wanted to see the most. I know Korn will kill it and so will a few others but I've seen more than 75% of the acts scheduled this or last year already so it still wouldn't be worth it.. I bought the new Avatar, Gemini Syndrome, Mushroomhead, and other (current band's) new discs and everyone of those CD's have better production quality than the new Priest cd. I think Val had a perfect review of "Redeemer". A few less songs would make it easier to listen to. In closing I'd like to say this may be my last post here. I won't mention names but I believe I drove at least a couple of people away from here and I know this will probably draw criticism which normally(for me) starts back and forths that no one wants so leaving will keep the peace amongst the remaining regulars. Becks, I'm glad you are finally getting to see "Priest". Soundwave would be an awesome experience even without them so you should get off on that. Guido, still not sure how you felt about me but negative or otherwise thanks for anything you helped me with. I think I may have gotten lucky. There are only two pricing options available. I checked for 2 seats at the higher price and they are the same section I'm already in row d. Quite honestly I think I made out. I spent nearly $40.00 less per ticket and I'm only 4 rows farther back. I'm guessing that I am 8 rows back.

Looks like they're playing bigger venues than I thought.  The Pittsburgh show has a capacity of 12,000. I got floor 1 seats row H.  Probably asking to much on my part to only be 8 rows back. I really don't have a clue how good or bad though. I doubt they sell 12,000 tickets so I may have a little flexibility. Tickets were $57.00 and $95.00 plus ticketmaster kickbacks. I got the $69.00 $57.00 tickets (lol) I'm basing that ticket sales guess on last tour's ticket sales. They may do better this time with the new disc out.

Unless your getting something extra's that's not available with the in-store sale I wouldn't pre-order a cd. They usually don't mail until release day so you're guaranteed to get it a couple days later than everyone else plus you pay shipping. I'm sure you're getting something else with the disc and I'm not criticizing you it's just something I quit doing. I can't wait sometimes and in this case it's got to be driving you crazy.

To each his own and I could probably do it if I had no choice but that's a little pricey for me. If I had to pay more than a hundred dollars to see Priest I wouldn't do it. They just released a Pittsburgh date today and after seeing ticket prices for the other shows I may pass. I'm paying 100.00 for two days @ Louder Than Life Festival and I'm going to see about 10 bands that I want to see and the opportunity to see more if I feel I can stomach them. The venues that they're playing at are midsize to small so realistically any seat should be fine. If I can get a ticket for less than or around 50.00 I'll do it, otherwise I'll need to seriously consider skipping it. I'd rather not blame Priest but I think whoever is setting the price it's a little much. I skipped Van Halen's first re-union tour with David Lee Roth because the cheap seats were $90.00 and that's one of only two bands I regret not seeing in my life. I'll probably be at the Pittsburgh show but I know it won't be up front.

Except for the production quality I don't get all the bashing either. I thought I was one of their most critical fans and after the first song released I thought that's what I was going to do. After listening to it though I was so happy. I really don't know what people want or expect but I think we got a quality Cd out of them. My personal opinion is that this is their highlight since Rob's return. The older fans have to appreciate this album.(you would think). The younger crowd I would give a pass. It's hard for young people to like anything old. All I know is that for the first time since "Demolition" I am thoroughly enjoying a Judas Priest release and that makes me so happy. If others don't like it so be it.

It's day two of listening and I stand by my review but I do want to make one tweak. I still don't like "Redeemer Of Souls". It's listenable and it sounds better on disc than the pre-release but it just doesn't do anything for me. Most of these songs either get you to want to headbang or just move with the beat. Some have slower starts and then buildups. "Redeemer" just kind of goes on monotonously. I really love this disc though. Out of 18 songs only 4 I would pass on. The two on the bonus disc I mentioned aren't that bad either. I think it's just hard to keep me interested for that many songs and one is just because it makes me feel bad. I would have thought it was kickass if it had 10 good songs, but the majority? I'm loving it! Thank You Judas Priest!!!

I knew this site was dying but I didn't think it was dead yet.  It's release day and I'm the only person in the whole country that had time to come here and post? I'm shocked. Facebook finally killed JP.com. Sad day.. (lol)

Had to post one more, ...there's two discs.

Two of the songs I really didn't care for, "Tears of Blood" and "Bring It On". Not terrible songs just not quite me. Both discs are finished up with ballads. "Beginning Of The End" (disc 1) I like the vocal style and the guitar sounds really good. I think it makes a nice contrast to the rest of the CD. "Never Forget" (disc 2) I don't like the vocal style as much and reading the lyrics it's too damn sad. I'm probably taking it the wrong way(1 listen) but it sounds like a farewell to the fans and for someone who has listened to them for almost 35 years and saw them countless times it's quite crushing to think (even if I suggested it myself previously) that they may soon hang it up. Lastly (for now), for a total of 17 tracks and for not liking only two of them I would have to say that this CD is pretty badass. Once again THANK YOU!!! JUDAS PRIEST!!! for such an awesome CD. I can be proud again.

For the first time since I've been on this site I am truly excited about something Priest has done. I'm loving this Cd. In my opinion it's on par with some of their early releases. I can't even find anything to bash. Rob's vocals are more than sufficient. The screams aren't as high but who cares, he's in his freakin' 60's and sounds f**kin awesome. The guitar work is top notch and I like the uptempo songs alot. Richie's style has a little more flair/flash to it than KK's but I'm used to that now and it doesn't really change the "Priest" sound. Some of the songs have a pretty good beat with them, kind of gets you bouncing around with them. The drums and bass are turned up a little more than I'm used to from Priest but I like it. I haven't listened to the bonus disc yet but I'm on my third listen to disc 1 and it gets better each time. It is such a good day to be a Priest fan. You guys know I'll bash if I don't like it so believe me when I say this is not a fanboy review.

"Redeemer Of Souls" by JUDAS PRIEST

I'm digging this CD. I learned from the MRH release that the pre-release tracks didn't have the production quality of the CD. That was the main reason for not wanting to hear more. Good choice and it held true for this disc also. Even "Redeemer of Souls" sounds pretty decent. Some tracks are quite heavy and I truly feel like I got what I was hoping for. It's heavy, It doesn't sound like "Painkiller", It has a modern sound(production) but maintains a classic Priest sound. It more than follows a formula like A.O.R. (my opinion) and it destroys that other CD they released after. Listening to "Halls of Valhalla" and I'm getting goosebumps. Thank freakin' goodness for this CD. Thank you Judas Priest for a quality effort. I know it only matters to me but I'm very pleased with this.

@HRMG. The LTL festival should be pretty cool. If it's set up like ROTR they'll have bands overlap each other on the side stages so you won't have to watch every band. They usually have contrasting styles at the same time so you'll usually just miss bands you don't care to see. There will be someone you'll have to miss but it usually works out good. I'm no expert on festivals (ROTR only) but if you haven't been to one and if they do this right you'll have the time of your life just watching the craziness. This is the inaugaral event and I've already read complaints of two lanes in and out for traffic and possible parking issue's so it may have it's drawbacks. I thought you would be happy to hear a Detroit date. Nothing else close to me and I really hate Steel Panther so I'm thinking the festival will be enough for me. You'll probably get a longer set in Detroit so I'm a little jealous of that though. Lastly, I've went to ROTR 5 years in a row. With few exceptions there is always a large exodus of people before the headliner and it will probably happen to Priest. The crowd will be younger and spent from the craziness (pits, crowdsurfing, etc) and will cut out before or during Priest. It will happen to Kid Rock the next night too. Just telling you this so your not shocked or upset seeing it. I think the organizers set it up this way to ease people out. Have a blast.(at both)

As for the tickets I'm guessing you mean LTL Festival tickets. Ignore the seat numbers. ROTR does that too. Maybe to keep track of tickets sold?

I'm so glad Priest is playing smaller venues on their fall U.S. Tour. Half empty arenas aren't the ideal concert atmosphere. HRMG, looks like a Detroit show, should be easier for you than going to Kentucky. When I saw the dates I thought I may have jumped the gun but no local shows so I'm glad I bought LTL Festival tickets. They probably have a link here but I didn't look. They have a link on Facebook to stream the album if anyone cares to listen to it. Sounds crazy but I'm going to wait until July 8th. I'll listen to it when I buy it. I've liked most of what I've heard but I'm still a little nervous about how good it will be. Too many songs like "Redeemer of Souls" would ruin it for me. I really hope that if this is the last hurrah it's a good one. (fingers crossed!)

I just voted for Priest for Noisecreep's "Most anticipated release of the month". That other band I like won for the month of May but the competition wasn't as strong. Priest is tied with Guns N' Roses (DVD/BD). If they win it gives them exposure for the month. This is probably a good poll to vote in so vote.

I liked it too. I love In This Moment and Maria Brink and thought she did good. I thought it was funny they did it so well. It sounded a little out of whack when it first started and figured Brian would laugh thinking they f**k'd it up. If he's not too biased he might dig it. They are one of the reasons I want to hit that festival.

I was just on Priest's facebook page. I'm noticing two things. One cool and one not so cool.

Cool: They have an ad for their appearance on Rockline. The photo attached has a photo of MRH. (Sorry, my two favorite bands, I love it)

Not so cool: I try to not  let the criticism bother me and commented to J.D. to try to do the same but I spent twenty minutes reading comments and the majority seem so critical. I'm not really sure what people are expecting from them. It won't be a highlight from their career but it sounds like a good effort to me and a good way to go out.(if that's the case.)

Saturday's line-up seems a little weaker. I would only want to watch 4 of the final 6 bands. (Priest/Korn/Limp Bizkit/Alter Bridge)

Sunday has some newer bands that I really like (Avatar/In This Moment) and Five Finger Death Punch in the evening (I love those guys) and a few other good bands throughout the day to make it interesting. I will be honest though, if it weren't for Priest I would probably skip this. I've already seen half of the line-up @ ROTR and it will be a long drive but you never know when it will be the last time for Priest so I can't take the chance. I've only missed one tour since the 81 "Point of Entry Tour". This may not technically be a tour but I still can't chance missing them.

There is a band that I saw at ROTR called Avatar. I started following them on Facebook and just got a message about a Festival they are playing in Louisville KY in October. Guess who Saturday's Headliner is. Judas Priest. Others are Korn, Alter Bridge kid Rock, Five Finger Death Punch, Avatar. Now I gotta plan another freakin' festival!!!

 Oh well, it's pretty much dead here anyway so why not? Alot of people have stopped coming here since I started. Coincidence?  Maybe I'll go away for awhile so JD doesn't have to be so bent. (lol)

J.D.. That's what I did. Except for reading what people post here I quit going to facebook or anywhere else to see what people are saying. I'll make up my own mind and it won't be based on what someone else thinks. That's why I commented to you a couple of times about not worrying about people ripping them for the first track released. I didn't know people were bashing the other two because I wasn't reading and not that I care but if people really are bashing the other two I doubt that they are longtime fans. I would guess younger fans hoping for a more modern style of music because it sounds like we may get a decent effort out of them based on what I'm hearing and what I think most people expect out of them. Don't stay away this site is already too dead. What is there, like six people that post here now? I never interact on their facebook page because I like this better but it seems like Facebook may be the only way to interact at all if you or any of the remaining few stop posting.

I can only speak for myself and no one has accused me of it but when I've been listening I haven't tried to compare the new tracks to any other Priest. I don't want any other Priest just the heaviness I've come to expect. Not every track has to be that way and I know I've never liked every track on a Priest album so I'm not expecting to now. No one asked but I'll mention that my criticism of the first track is that it's just a steady monotonous beat and I really don't like the vocal style. I know Rob isn't going to scream like he did in his youth but the style on that song becomes irritating to me rather quickly. It reminds me of stuff like "Prisoner of Your Love" or "Red White and Blue" or stuff off Rob's last Halford cd. The other two tracks have tempo changes and better lyrical style and it keeps the songs from getting boring as you listen. To me the other two tracks are a continuation of a long time trend of releasing new music that sounds different from the previous effort but retains that overall Priest sound. I think this stopped with Demolition. That's why I say 15 years and I may finally get what I wanted. It would be a fantastic last hurrah. Let's see.

I think "Bloodstone" blows away "Redeemer of Souls". That's one of my favorite Priest tracks. J.D., you seem to be pretty angry that people don't like "Redeemer...". I haven't gone to facebook to read what anyone is saying but here it seems like more praise than not especially on the latter two tracks. There isn't anything wrong with saying Priest released a weak track if they did. When I heard it I was thinking I didn't even want to hear anymore but after the other two I can't wait. The second two songs are more Priest like and now I'm pretty stoked for it to come out. I'm thinking they are finally after 15 years going to release something that harkens back to the Priest I used to know. I really can't wait for this!

"Hail The Apocalypse" by AVATAR

Another Jim Breur video I took @ ROTR. "Heavy Metal Man". The fella's in their forties should get a kick out of this. It's comedy but this is pretty heavy. I think it almost has a Priest feel to it.

I'm not sure what anyone is hoping for but for me personally I might get exactly what I was hoping for. I didn't want "Painkiller ll" or "British Steel ll" but just wanted something that had that "Priest" sound and showed a progression forward with a more modern feel to it  and not something that followed a formula like I feel A.O.R. did. I think they started with a weak track but followed up with some decent stuff. I never expected to lke every song (I never have) but was hoping that the first track released was not the norm. Sounds like probably not. I'm looking forward to this. I can't wait to hear it all.

@Jerri, sometimes when I click on a video shared from youtube the sound is muted. Try clicking the speaker symbol under the video. A bar should pop up showing sound level. You can turn it up if it's all the way down.

I'm hoping all the regulars here will watch this. It's funny as hell. Jim Breur doing a children's classic "Bingo" metal style. Each letter he impersonates a different singer. Ozzy, Halford, Hetfield, etc. You guys will love his Halford.

The weather sucked but it was probably my favorite as far as band sets go. I watched 26 bands and only 3 of them i wasn't into. Saw a couple of new bands I'll be checking out. (Avatar and Gojira.) Some surprises. The Pretty Reckless was probably my biggest. She was awesome. Loved Jim Breur's set. Gemini Syndrome (the band that hit my wife in the head with a drumstick). I loved them. They have to be my favorite new band right now. Check them out you may be suprised. Lastly, if you are even remotely interested you must go next year just to experience it. I've been to 260+ shows since 78 and ROTR is by far the craziest and funnest shows I've been to.

Thanks for answering HRMG. I'm glad you posted because I'm hoping you see this. I went to ROTR in Columbus this weekend. Jim Breur was there with a band and Metal Mike was his guitar player. They did a metal version of the children's song "Bingo". Jim did a different metal "voice" for each letter. Ozzy for B and Halford for I (?) etc.. I couldn't help but think of you because of Metal Mike.. I took a video that i'll post here because I'm sure some will get a kick out of it. It's funny as hell.

They should have released this song first. At least this one sounds like they were trying to be heavy. Songs like this will make me like this CD, the other song makes me not even want to hear it. I pray it is more in the vain of the second song. As for the new sound I'm not sure I ever ask for anything but that except that it be heavy so if it doesn't sound like "Painkiller" I think that's great.

Ok cool. I had no clue. I never really payed attention to anything Priest before Rob, KK, and Glenn. I knew of Al Atkins but none of the others and didn't know anything about any riffs between any of them. I was going to go see Al Atkins last year in Pittsburgh but passed. Now I'm glad I did.

I read about that online yesterday so I didn't click your link but online they posted an Al Atkins post. I noticed he couldn't help but bash K.K. Downing calling him amateurish compared to Chataway. I didn't know there was any kind of riff between the two. Anyone have a clue what Atkins beef is or am I reading too much into his post? Anyone?

@JD, I just posted that to play around. You seem to be a little bothered by the negativity but it's getting praise also so don't worry about it. I'm not bailing on the album yet. I know one song doesn't make a CD and every Priest CD has at least one track I don't like. I wish this song was heavier but I'm not trashing them over it. I'll wait for the disc to come out and I'll buy it and listen and if I like it I'll let everyone know, if not, I'll post about that too. (lol)

Of course Priest has weak songs. Every band does. Priest has 10 strong songs for every weak one though and people have learned to expect more from such a Metal band. It doesn't matter if they are 60 or not you can still make heavy music. This song has no power to it whatsoever it's mediocre and nothing in this song grabs you and says wow this is heavy. It just goes along with a steady non exciting beat with a little guitar work in the middle and then a lackluster finish. I think the majority of people who don't like it also admitted that this could still be an awesome album as long as this "is" one of the weaker ones and not similar to the entire cd. The comparisons to "Made In Metal" and sounding like one of it's leftovers to me is perfect. Exactly what it reminds me of. I just hope the rest of it is good.

Sorry man but I think you are misunderstanding me a little.

Just for clarity, I am not hurt by what you said. I temper my comments not because I'm worried what others will think of my opinion but because I do "not" want to be confrontational anymore. I try to word my posts so i don't sound that way. I am not trying to force myself to like this track, I just wanted to make sure in my head that I didn't like it before I said so. I don't think it is a terrible song I just like heavier stuff. When I commented about not influencing others based on my opinions that was just humorous sarcasm because I know that most here do not share my views and I'm not trying to get anyone to. My goals here (now) are to post occasionally, speak my mind without offending, And no more confrontation even if it means backing down from it. I don't try to force myself on anyone like I used to either and more than a few posts in a day make me slow it down so I don't saturate a thread. I'll probably make this my last post for awhile because I feel I'm overdoing it now.

just saw I didn't erase @everyone when I edited my post to JD. I was expressing displeasure with a track (now 2, heard another last night I didn't care for) from another band I like. I didn't name them last night or now only because I didn't want to detract from the Priest discussion. I was checking out the comments on Facebook. They seem fairly split as to whether people like it or not. I think on here HighwayTerror summed it up pretty good and that's why it's a little boring to me. A little guitar work in the middle but other than that it just goes on. The comment I made about it lacking punch seems to be a common gripe on facebook. One guy said pretty much the same thing I did here and he got 44 likes in a couple of hours so I don't think I'm alone on this one (other than in here). I listened to it twice more before I came here to post this so I wouldn't write something I regret. My personal opinion is that this isn't that great of a song and I really hope the rest of it is better. I understand the age thing and I'm not anti-Ritchie and I don't expect 70's/80's Priest but they can surely do better than this.

@JD I'm not ready to say I don't like it yet I haven't heard it enough to be familiar with it and many many times over the years my initial reaction to music isn't always my final reaction. About Painkiller. This will sound like Blasphemy to the Priest camp but that's not one of my more favorite Priest cd's. It has three of my favorite Priest songs on it (Painkiller, All Guns Blazing and Nightcrawler) but if you remember awhile back when I posted about Priest cd's and skip tracks "Painkiller" had the most for me maybe(?) followed by Demolition which I praise. Go figure.

I'm starting to saturate this thread with the comments so I'll stop after this. I put on some decent headphones that have a fuller sound and deeper bass and it helps. That and a break between listens. It's not a bad song. I'm really not ripping it I just wish it was a little heavier, maybe emphasize the drums a little more or a little more crunch I don't know. Rob's vocals are good enough and I know the first track released won't be the best so come on July 15th.

@ JD. I don't think everyone will be bitching. Different fans like different styles and it isn't too bad of a song so it will get some praise. You know I'm a hard head but I don't think the others will be. I wish they would have called it "Taker of Souls". Redeemer makes it sound like they are waiting for one's soul I would rather them just take it. (lol)

I just gave it three listens in a row. Have to give myself a break and try again later. My initial reaction is that I really hope the rest of the cd has a little more punch to it. This reminds me of some of the bonus tracks on the remasters. A little boring and not heavy enough. If they wanted to feature Ritchie it doesn't really sound like they are. I wasn't super big on him during the tour because I thought he changed their sound and I wasn't used to it but I could tell he was talented and I think a worthy replacement so I was expecting a change and ready for it but I'm not hearing it on this track. It's only one though and that doesn't make a cd so we'll see. My opinions only matter to me and aren't meant to influence anyone.

Was getting ready to leave for work and decided to check again. Looks like I won't have to wait after all. I'm not going to say too much negative or positive until I listen a few times but my initial reaction was complete excitement hearing a new song. It started to lose me toward the middle and end but I can't judge on one listen so I won't say more until I'm sure how I feel about it. The title doesn't do much for me but that may grow on me. July 15th isn't too long of a wait so that part of it is cool.

According to Facebook we should get to hear a new track today. Like I don't want my work day to go fast enough already.

I have a question if anyone wants to guess, confirm or deny. Someone posted it was going to be called "Metalizer". Someone's wish???(I don't know). Anyone hear any rumors?

Yeah, change is good, usually. I just meant the surprise of it and not knowing what to do for a minute. I used to check in without signing in sometimes. Looks like that is gone. It guarantees I don't see some of the crap though so it's all good. It's probably stupid to go by this and I only do because of their ages but I can't help but think that if Black Sabbath can still put out such a quality cd then Priest should be able to also. I'm OK with the colors but it is hard to read the text. My first thought after seeing this was WTF but It's probably just a case of hating change. Hopefully I'm wrong about having to wait 2 months to be told we only have to wait a little longer. Seeing the blue and smoke as a header gives the impression of a hidden album cover just below. Kind of increases the anticipation. I so hope this is a good CD.

I love the story, that's great. One of those moments you hate going through but the memories and story after make it so worth it. Thanks for sharing that.

I saw the Stones in 89' also. "Steel WheelsTour" at 3 Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh.(since torn down)(actually I was there when they imploded it.) I never cared much for the Stones until that show. I was hanging with a friend that day and he said he would scalp us some tickets if I rode up with him.I thought they were pretty badass. Not on the heavy side but just quality musicianship and a pretty spectacular show. I like the Stones(64'-74'era) alot now and saw them again in Columbus Ohio on their "No Security Tour" in 99'. Not sure if that was a play on their "Altamont" show or not.  

@Guido and Val. I haven't been here for a few days so I missed the posts. Thank you. I miss everyone's birthday now so I wasn't expecting anything. Val, I get why you would do that but I do hope that people here understand I'm not trying to push them on anyone and I'm not comparing them to Priest in anyway. I talk about them so much because they are the band that I have the most access to. They routinely play shows in this area and I go see them every couple of months it seems, sometimes 2 or 3 times in a month. I would've done the exact same thing with Priest but obviously I can't. I try to post here about things I do and MRH is a big part of what I do. I saw Ventana two weeks ago and Xfactor1 last night and I post that as well. Before those two shows MRH was 4 out of my last 5 shows so when I post here about shows it's clear who's name is going to pop up most. I know they'll never get support here and I'm not trying to purposely annoy anyone. ...oh' and my next show is May 10th. MRH in Columbus. Peace!!!

I'm sure no one cares about my tax situation and I wasn't expecting to comment on it this much. Probably my explanation more than you not understanding. Up until 2 years ago I worked a regular job that took money each pay for taxes. At the end of the year I still had to pay each year. 2 years ago I became an independent business operator (sell product to stores). I get a check (or a bill) each week for product received and sold. I save 20% when i get a check and at the end of the year go to an accountant with all my expenses and figure out what I made and what I owe. Both year's I saved more than I needed.

You misunderstood my post. I said I never had to pay in the thousands but I've always had to pay. My bills generally ranged 250.00 to 700.00. This was when money was taken automatically. I'm not trying to go back and forth but I guess technically now I do pay in the thousands but that's because I don't have anything taken out of my pays. I save more than I owe so I give myself a refund after I pay them. I get deductions but they're all work related. Truck repair, supplies, etc..

I never had to pay back in the thousands but I paid yearly for over a decade. Had a brief stint of about 3 years of refunds and now with my job (IBO) I deduct the taxes myself and save it throughout the year and then pay an accountant to tell me what I owe. He suggests I send money quarterly and collect a refund from them but I save it and send what I owe.

An accountant for me also. Give him $175.00 so he can tell me how much I can now graciously (sarcasm) give to my government. I save a percentage throughout the year that so far has yielded me a little back. For many years I had to pay, it sucks. Technically I'm still paying but I save more than I need so I'm refunding myself.(lol)

It starts a little weak but overall I think they did this pretty good.

Age will take over eventually so I've decided that I'm not going to say anything about slowing down on the shows anymore. I went to see a Cleveland band last Saturday called Ventana. No it's not MRH  ...but the keyboardist is from MRH. (lol). I like them. They wear gas masks so they (slightly) resemble the MRH look but the music is quite a bit different. More industrial sounding. I'm going to see a Columbus based band this Saturday called "Xfactor1". I think some of you guys might like them. No masks and a little more basic metal. They have a song or two with a few rap lines but they're metal for the most part. I'm surprised that they're not bigger than they are. They do a really good version of "The Stroke" by Billy Squier. I'll post a video. These two bands help me realize that there are some local talents that put on fantastic shows with no fanfare. The show next Saturday is 3 bucks. How can you beat that? Also have a couple of MRH shows next month, ROTR next month, and Mayhem in July. You only live once so I'm trying to live. (if that makes sense)

I can't wait but seeing that header is a little bit of a drag to me. We'll probably have to see this for the next two months so that they can tell us then that it will be out by fall or for Christmas or some sh*t. I just hope it's a good one.

Bought tickets for Mayhem today. I can't wait for this one, MRH is on the bill. I saw them in March in Cleveland, I have tickets to their cd release party in May, I'm also going to see them in Newport Kentucky May 24th, and I'm considering a Columbus show in May also. Then I see Mayhem line-up and guess which band got me most stoked. MRH(lol).

I'm too forgetful to remember the names of those places and I'm too poor to do that much visiting but the ruins with the laser show and music sounds like a really good time. My traveling the last couple of years has been inside the state of Ohio with one road trip to Detroit (Harpo's). Actually it's pretty much Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia for my travels. I live right in that corner. I can hit all three states in about a twenty minute drive.

My favorite two bands are set to release new albums this year. I'm pretty anxious for both. I just hope Priest actually releases their's. Being their 40th makes me think it will definitely come out this time. Rob says it will rock but every band says that so we'll see. I hope they made something that shows they tried to put out a metal album that seems a little current, something like they did back in the day when their next album was always different from the one before but still had a Priest sound to it. They were always moving forward. They did this (with mixed reviews) until Demolition. (Sorry I'm not counting Nostradamus) I don't want to hear Painkiller or British Steel or any other album I want to hear a "new" Priest album. I hope it's not just a "formula" concept like I thought A.O.R. was. My other favorite is releasing their cd May 13th. It's called "The Righteous and the Butterfly". Don't laugh it had me wondering also. "Righteous" is for JJ Righteous an original member and guitar player who died and the "Butterfly" is for Skinny's (Drummer/founder) wife who died also. I just got my tickets today for their release party in Cleveland. I just saw them Saturday and already got tickets for MRH show number 22. I have alot to look forward to.

@Headbanger. Where did you go. I'm guessing Mexico or a little farther south? Which ruins? I went to the ruins in Tulum, the other's (can't remember name) are supposed to be cooler. The ones I saw were on a hill near cliffs with a beautiful view of the ocean. The original wall (not entire) still surrounds the place. The wife and I strayed from the crowd to a secluded section that gave us a nice view of the ocean. It was kind of cool sitting on a wall that was 1500 years old checking out the view  thinking about Mayans doing the same thing back then. May have been short but probably still fun.

@Headbanger. Only bringing this up because you brought up CFL in the past and I ask you about Zach Collaros and if you had any info. I finally got to read about him in our local paper. I guess he's doing OK up there. He played (back-up QB) for Toronto Argonauts. He did get playing time and they did get a Grey Cup. Last year he got to start 7 games because of an injury to the starter and went 5-2 and set a CFL record for being first QB to win four straight road games. I'm not sure how good the Hamilton Tigercats are but they like him and signed him with a promise to compete for starter. I hope he does well. I can't guarantee my facts, our paper has been a little off before so if you ever hear about him please share.  Thanks.

Has anyone ever seen these before?

We've been having some crazy weather around here. It was -10F this morning. Near 50 last week. I was riding around in my work truck today freezing my ass off, toes were hurting, legs were cold, but I was loving it. I got to see a few things not normally seen around here and I try to find beauty in all the seasons. It was so cold this morning that all light sources, (poles, headlights, etc.) were shooting beams of light straight up into the air on top of what ever direction they were pointing. I've seen it before but not very often. When you saw multiple lights it was a really cool effect. Especially with the mist from the cold air. Can anyone explain this? Also got to see blue ice. Not alot but tints of it here and there. I've seen that before also but again not often. It's actually quite pretty to look at. I live next to the Ohio River. One of the bigger rivers in the country and it rarely freezes over. It's about 3/4 frozen and looks awesome as hell. I haven't seen it like this in more than a decade. Lastly I got to see something today that I didn't even know existed. They're called "snowrollers". I guess a rare weather phenomenon that needs several things to happen for them to occur. An icy surface, a layer of snow, really cold temperatures, and high winds. The winds catch a piece of snow and blows it across the ground. It collects snow and looks like rolled padding or thick white blanket. Some are real small, some pretty big. Some say they are like snow tumbleweeds. I'll post a few pics.

@Guido. It's cool. I didn't know how much you guys spoke so I thought that a couple of questions wouldn't be a bother. I love Marilyn Manson. I've seen him 11 times and I've noticed just how much of a dick he is with bandmembers and crew. I've seen him completely tear up the stage and storm off. I've seen him bounce water bottles off of crew members adjusting mics. I've seen him throw mic stands at guitar players and I really think John 5 was the one. I know I've seen him throw stuff at Twiggy. It makes me curious as to how he feels about that whole experience. Rob Zombie seems so much cooler so he has to be in a better situation now. As for the MRH inquiry my guess would be that he wouldn't even watch them but I know he understands the theatrics side of the music biz and would judge them more than just on their look or act. I really am curious to hear what bands that play with them have to say about them.

Here's a video my wife took Wednesday of In This Moment doing a Nine Inch Nails cover of "Closer". This is more for the fellas even though on facebook a couple of females commented so maybe the ladies like it too. It's camcorder shot so the overall sound isn't great and unless you know the lyrics or some of them she is a little hard to understand but I love this. Provacative and it was a good version of this song. I'll post a video of N.I.N. w/ lyrics in case anyone can't understand her and might want an idea of what she's singing.

I was thinking to myself "How did I not hear about this?". Opened the email and clicked on to see where. It was San Diego California which unless you're from China is nowhere near me (3000+ miles away) the show was already canceled. WTF?!!

I joke too much about slowing down on the concert thing but I have to be honest about one thing. Age is becoming a factor. I will be slowing down soon even if not by choice.

@Guido. I'm not sure how well you know him or how often you exchange emails but maybe you can ask something for me. How much of a pain in the ass was it working for Marilyn Manson and what does he think about that experience. Secondly they are doing a couple of shows with MRH(openers) and Korn next month in Australia(?). MRH usually doesn't play the bigger shows. Good opportunity for them. See if he has any feedback after. "They sucked", "They were different", he liked them, hated them, whatever. I would like to hear what someone of his caliber has to say about them.

Went to see In This Moment Wednesday night in Pittsburgh. Going to see MRH in Canton, Ohio next month (8th) and today I just ordered three day passes for Rock On The Range in Columbus, Ohio. After that I'm definitely slowing down.     ...probably. (lol)

I never watch the Simpsons but I just caught the clip on youtube. Guess I would have to see the whole episode to completely get it but from the comments on youtube I would guess some don't care for it. ...Budred knew that he promised not to return here but since his mind changed about as often as the release date for the new Priest cd he figured why not. The first thing he noticed when he opened the door was the silence. He walked in and there was nothing. No music, no people, nothing but the lights. Kind of eerie actually. "The Music Hall Of Fame" isn't worth the time, gas money, or shit.  ...and if I did shit on their steps they would just induct it in the Hall anyway to go along with all the other shit they're putting in.

I think I got here just in time to help start the fall. Unintended of course. I used to want to participate and get others to also but anymore it's just check in, see if there is anything to comment on, laugh at the ridiculous, then go to Youtube or Facebook. There's not much to try to participate in.

He was the quarterback for Steubenville Big Red (Ohio Highschool) going 30 - 0 as a starter with back to back state championships. Local hero of course. I saw him play his last game in college in Pittsburgh. Come from behind victory over the homestanding Pitt Panthers. Great game.

I guess those "higher feelings" are leaving me. I still love Priest but quite honestly it's for what they've "done" not what they're "doing". Let me stress though that my disappointment stems from wanting to hear something out of my favorite band. I also want to stress that I understand their standpoint. These guys are getting up there in age. In the early years they gave everything they could. Every year it was album, tour, and no breaks. They earned the right to take it easy on themselves after a certain point. Something every single one of us hope to acheive. They have a life to live also and as the years pass it gets harder and harder to do what they're doing and find time to enjoy life also. I'm not angry at Priest even though that comes through in some of my posts. I'm just greedy and want as much as I can get out of them. I need to realize that they've given their all and at this stage I just need to be happy that they may give anything. I'll always love these guys but I still need to be entertained and there are others that do that for me so more of my attention goes elsewhere. I thank Priest for what they've given me and I'm OK if there is nothing else.

It's would probably narrow a little quicker if Rob fans would quit voting for Ronnie (lol) but it's 60/40 right now.

I never vote in these "Vs." polls/contests but I decided to throw a vote towards Rob for the latest one mentioned here. I don't think Rob has a chance against a dead man. Not trying to be callous but every dead musician is remembered as greater than he was so I expect that to boost Ronnie here. I've seen Ronnie James Dio many times since 1980 and he isn't any better than Rob yet he is killing him in this poll/contest. (76% to 24%)

I bought tickets to see Gemini Syndrome in early December. I messaged them on facebook and ask them if they would place the wife and I on their guestlist and they said yes just to remind them closer to the show. I'm starting to love their disc and I really appreciate how these guys stick to their word. A good band and it seems like they're good guys also. Some here may like some of their disc, it has hints of Nu Metal but  for the most part it's not. They have clean vocals most of the time but his singing style may not appeal to all. If I had to label them I would call them Nu Progressive. Yeah I made that up lets just hope it doesn't stick. To me it's all metal. I never really try to break it down anymore.

Overall the experience was pretty cool. I met a couple of Canadians who said they came over from Ontario across the bridge to Canada. They were telling me that they have been going to Harpos for at least 25 years. They said everyone has played there and named quite a few that they went to. Tesla, Run DMC, Kid Rock, Lamb Of God, Wasp, and others. They mentioned things about the club, like it used to have a lit dance floor and giant monitors. I forget other things they told me. They told me they used to come over to America to drink all the time. I don't know if they were telling me the truth or not but they said something about coming over with Canadian money, buying drinks and getting change with American money, and exchanging that when they got back to Canadian currency again and making money out of it. They laughed about coming here to drink and getting money back. Can anyone explain this or let me know it's not possible. I'm skeptical but I don't know. I probably wouldn't go back. Any big shows with no parking would freak me out up there. I've been in the City at night, Miami, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and a few others but this had a different vibe to it. Then I read today about Detroit getting a white mayor for the first time in decades and one of his first issues is dealing with how dangerous and violent Detroit is. I got in, I got out, I'm good! (lol)

a couple of corrections. I said on ramp and meant overpasses and I said to the right of the stage and it was to the left.

@Guido. I finally made it to Harpos. Seedy neighborhood? OMG. I got a little nervous when about a mile from the exit I started to notice graffitti all over the on ramps. Nothing new but then about 1/2 mile to go and now I'm seeing the poles covered and graffitti on the highway signs and I was like "great", freakin' gangs, or at least "the hood". Took the exit and when I got on the street leading to Harpos all I saw were "brothers". I am not a racist but I do care about my well being so I wasn't liking that. Then driving by Harpos I didn't notice parking and drove to a supermarket a couple of buildings away. Looked at the clientel and thought my car will be gone by time I get back out here. I drove back towards the club and turned in next to it and saw parking in the rear. So glad the crowd was small so I didn't have an issue parking. I may have just left if I would have had to park anywhere else. I was amazed at how big the inside is once you get inside. That floor though (in my mind) sucks. Raise your hands all the way above your head and your wrists hit the stage. I got a spot at the rail above the floor to the right side. Perfect view and I got some great videos. I may post one for you just because of where it is from. I have a cool pic from outside I'll post when I get it to my computer. That was my 19th MRH show and sixth this year. I may get one more chance this year, depends on the weather. Their Xmas show is next month. I may skip it though. 6 times in one year is good I guess.(lol) Take care.

I got bored pretty quick listening to the same thing over and over but you can't deny the guy his skill. I've never seen or heard anyone play that fast. @Guido�� ...for me it's pretty much just effect. They only use them part of the time. Here's a video I took from Pittsburgh Thursday night. It's from the balcony and the stage is so small it's a good shot of both drums. I'm not expecting you to like the song just watch the first 2 or 3 minutes. If you do watch the whole song the second part of it is the best.(to me). The song is "43/Kill Tomorrow". This is one of my (more)�favorite songs from these guys. (my last video of these two shows)

Hey guys. I went to see MRH Saturday night in Cleveland. I'm sure not too many care about that so don't worry there are no reviews. I'm posting a video though and I'm hoping some here will take the time to watch the first two minutes. The song is "Empty Spaces(pink floyd)/Born Of Desire". The first two minutes (Empty Spaces) features a 7 or 8(?) yr. old kid playing one of the water drums. The kid is so cool and watch him work the crowd. I think this is good stuff. Hope some agree.

Just read that again, ...what??? Confused myself with that one.(lol) Not that it matters but basicaly going uphill the handrail was 6in" lower at the botttom than at the top yet it appeared just the opposite and gave the illusion that the ball was rolling uphill. I really don't understand it.

Went to Laurel Caverns (east of Uniontown Pa.) with my wife yesterday. We were heading for "Cooper's Rock" in West Virginia, saw a sign for "Laurel Caverns" and headed there instead.Turned out to be pretty awesome. The biggest cave in Pa. I've been in caves before but never a mile in. They have more than 3 miles of cave open for exploration. One reason for this post is because of something I have a little trouble understanding. Supposedly in caves you don't have complete control of our senses. An incline may not seem as steep as it is or a hole may be deeper than it appears and so on. At one point we were climbing an incline upwards and came to a hand rail about 8 ft. in length. From the lower point, the handrail looked lower at the upper point and higher at the lowest point. Our guide placed a golf ball at the top (lowest point) and the balled appeared to roll upward to the bottom point. He told us that it was just an illusion and that the rail actually went downward but only appears to go upward. I still don't get it. Had a great day none the less. Anyone?

Went to the "Carnegie Science Center" in Pittsburgh yesterday. The place was much cooler than I anticipated. One of the highlights for me was the "Imax" movie theatre. Watched somthing about a trek of a polar bear and her two cubs. Got bored with that pretty quick but the overall experience was pretty intense. You're sitting in reclined seats in a giant dome theatre. The entire dome is the screen. You focus on the center but so much more is going on. You look above, to the sides, and down to see everything. The sound system booms and some scenes you actually feel as though you are there. I had the sensation of riding in a helicopter over the artic near icebergs and cliffs and you could feel the pull on your body as it backed away or that feeling in your belly as it tilted forward. I have to go back when something�good is playing there. It was too cool.

Did you go on one of the "Maid Of The Mist" boats? I didn't think I would like it but my wife wanted to do it so we did. It turned out to be pretty awesome. When you get up close from the bottom you really get a sense of just how powerful the falls are.

Republicans don't want anything that helps people that can't help themselves. If you are a billion dollar corporation they will give whatever you need (for political contributions of course). Democrats on the other hand (even though still accepting contributions from billionaire corporations)(for favors) try to help the poor in this country also. This is one reason for our class wars and why the two sides can't get along. Republicans will spend hundreds of billions on unnecessary wars but do not want to help anyone with healthcare. It's an entitlement.

The shutdown isn't really a shutdown. The government is still functioning they just won't fund anything deemed non essential. I'm not completely convinced that's a bad thing. No matter who's side you're on the spending has to be cut. That's why these idiots have to work together. We need compromise from both sides. Neither side can have everything their way but neither side will budge. How can a citizen support this kind of government? Fuck em' both!

@Headbanger. I agree. That's why I'm not too concerned about what's going on. Maybe (even though logic defy's it) the two sides will actually work together to figure this shit out. I'm so distrusting of our government that I don't even know who's side to take. Both sides lie out the ass and the GOP is waging such a fear campaign against "anything" Obama that it's impossible to make judgemet or decisions as to what's right. I hate our goverrnment right now. I hated republicans after G.W. but now it's just goverment period. I never thought highly of our government but right now it's just hatred and distrust.

Seeing the shape that Ozzy is in and the fact this particular line-up hasn't put out an album in decades and they still released a classic sounding album tells me Priest should have the same ability. I'm not hoping for "Painkiller" or "British Steel" or whatever but there is a Priest "sound" that I would definitely like to hear again. Rob doesn't have to sound like he did thirty years ago and Richie will definitely change their style some but I know they can release a quality album. I think A.O.R. they just followed a formula and went through the motions, Nostradamus I'll never understand, but I think they still can do it. I'll still call them my favorite band but if the new disc is a bust I'll never look forward to anything from them again. They're too old, I'm too old, and life is too short. I'll enjoy other stuff.

"13" (cd) by BLACK SABBATH

I had no interest in this CD whatsoever and I consider myself a big fan of Sabbath. To me Ozzy is finished and I haven't heard what I consider to be a "Sabbath" album since "Sabotage". When I went to Dio Disciples they were playing some new Sabbath before they came on and I was a little surprised by how it sounded. I downloaded it because I'm sorry but I wasn't taking a chance on Ozzy with my cash. I've been listening to it this week and I gotta say I think I'm buying it. I was shocked at how much it sounds like old Sabbath. It sounds like they just reworked alot of the old riffs and you can hear influences from multiple old songs but I still like it. Nice heavy crunchy guitars, deep bass and drums, and unfortunately subpar vocals (but with the studio magic they have they made them sufficient). I would probably give it a high 6 or low 7 on a rating scale. It starts out with a lot of good tracks then weakens at the end. Just my opinion, only matters to me.

Glad to hear HRMG got to enjoy Saxon in Michigan. I left for the Cleveland show but I didn't make it. Ended up driving an hour for no reason. Stopped in Boardman and had dinner with the wife. Listened to Saxon all the way home which did nothing for my depression (lol). I still can't believe I haven't seen them yet. I'm not their biggest fan, I never thought alot about Biff's vocals but some of their music is heavy as hell and I can see why some like them so much. I did like their first three albums alot and from HRMG's brief description it sounds like they may have done a bit of the older stuff. If there's ever a next time maybe then. I decided to skip the Otep show next month and at least one of the MRH shows. I joke about it alot but I really do need to cut back a little.

I've already mentioned this but I remember the first time I heard that song. It was on the radio and I didn't catch the name and I thought it was new Priest. I was a little disappointed.(lol) After I figured out it wasn't Priest and I was able to hold it to a lower standard I started liking it. The first time I saw them live they were touring "Operation Mindcrime" opening for Metallica.(1989). I started liking them less from that point forward. They were good live and I saw them a few more times after and still liked them I just didn't care for their music much after "Mindcrime".

Believe it or not I beat out a guy about a foot taller than I am. He even told me when the lights came on that he had that stick I got but that I was just a little stronger. Here's the funny part. I jumped up to grab it and came down on some woman's foot. I caught her out of the corner of my eye grabbing her foot and moaning. I apologized to her. She laughed it off. Had to share that because of your comment. The pick I got I saw him throw when the show first started. No one saw him throw it so no one went for it. When the show was ending I moved over to where I thought it might be. I looked down but couldn't really see anything and then I noticed small white lettering and bent down and touched it and it was that pick. I couldn't belive I found it.

I really liked the Dio Disciples show Sunday. Ripper isn't Dio of course but in a live setting with former Dio bandmates playing with him it's a pretty kickass show. My fourth time seeing them and I loved them everytime. I got a guitar pick from Bjorn Englen(bass) and a drumstick from Simon Wright. The bad thing about the drumstick is that I have 11 total but 6 of them including last night are the exact same stick and now I forget who they came from. Should have written on them as I got them. Here's "Killing The Dragon/Holy Diver".

I didn't fall, I jumped! (lol)  ...now I need to decide whether I want to go see Saxon next week, I have VIP for MRH's Halloween show in Cleveland. Will probably hit their Pittsburgh show a couple of days before that one and possibly Detroit a couple of days after. Otep is coming back to Pittsburgh in Oct. and I'm considering that one too. Too hard to beat an addiction, just keep going until it beats me I guess.

@ Val   ,,,if you'r checking out "Rainbow" cd's I highly recommend "Rising". Everyone has their own opinions but for me this is their best. The one you got was second best.(also my first "Rainbow" album)(assuming it's you're first).

Get to see Ripper tomorrow with Dio Disciples at "Ripper's Rock House" in Akron Ohio. Dio Disciples uses two singers but Oni Logan isn't doing tomorrow's show. I like Ripper better so I'm glad. Small venue and only 200 tickets sold with a meet n greet after for anyone who wants to stay. Can't wait, it should be pretty cool.

I saw Halestorm at Rock On The Range in Columbus this summer and two years ago. Not bad two years ago but i didn't care for them at all this time. they tried Dio's "Straight Through The Heart" this year. It was cool because it was Dio but I hated hearing her sing it.

@Headbanger   ...I like Killswitch's "Holy Diver". At least no one can say they tried to copy him, it's definitely their own, butchered vocals and all. (lol)

Finally bought the "Epitaph" DVD on Saturday. Put it on yesterday and only made it through one song. The editing was driving me nuts. Every half a second they were changing camera's and camera angles and none of it was smooth at all. Too jumpy for me and annoying. Someone please tell me the whole DVD isn't like this. I would rather have kept my twenty bucks if so.

...not trying to go on and on here but I was checking out 100 Years Of Broadway and there is no way I could sit through that. I'll go through your suggestions and look online. I'll figure it out. I really liked the look of that theatre though and thought that would be cool. I've been to Detroit before I just didn't search out anything to do. Went to Cobo Hall to watch Ultimate Fighting and stayed at the Renaissance Center and checked out the Detroit Zoo the day after a Priest show(DTE) but that's it.

I was checking out The Fox Theatre. That place looks cool as hell. Love the decor.  On Nov. 3 they have "100 Years Of Broadway". Not for me but my wife loves that stuff. We went to a couple of shows on cruise ships and she had a blast. She taught dance for 15 years so it's kind of her thing. Her Birthday is that week so maybe I'll see if I can get tickets and surprise her. Mushroomhead on Saturday and 100 Years Of Broadway on Sunday. Now if that isn't a contrast in taste I don't know what is. (lol). Maybe do the riverwalk early in the day. Thanks for the suggestions.(again)(lol)

@Guido, thanks. I'll check the theatres you mentioned for a Nov. 3 show. The riverwalk may be a good idea. We walk every Sunday(5miles) anyway so that would be cool. I'll read your post again and look into some of your suggestions.

@Guido. What would one do in Detroit in November to have fun. May go to Harpo's and would like to find something to do the next day. Pittsburgh has "Station Square" and Cleveland has "The Flats". Entertainment districts with restaraunts, bars, nightclubs, etc. Does Detroit have such an area. Any suggestions. Open to other things also. Nice State parks, etc. Just looking for ideas.

...i was watching "Pawn Stars" a couple of weeks ago and one of the owners was given tickets to this camp as a birthday gift and he got to sing with Roger Daltry of The Who.(his idol). This was the first time that I've heard of it. I told my wife it would be pretty wild if Priest would do it and about two days later I saw Demonizer's post. Very cool!!!

28 years total. (not religious)(lol). I can say with all sincerity that our relationship is as strong now as it ever was.

I found Joe's so I'm not sure how I missed the Beer Barrel. Did see the Roundhouse but didn't go in. I rarely drink. I had some mixed drinks at the Boardwalk and a couple of beers at Joe's. Most everything else was checking stuff out. I have to get back to this place it was too cool.

...about Sabbath.(Ozzy).

I totally expected this one and that's why I made no effort to see this show. I didn't even look up the dates or locations. I love Sabbath and Ozzy (2nd only to Priest) so it's not something I hoped for just expected. Glad to hear a couple of you got good shows out of it.

We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary this weekend. Went to "Put In Bay"�(island) on Lake Erie. I never realized Ohio had such a gem. The lake is like being on the ocean and the island was awesome. Some refer to it as the "Keys" of the North. It definitely had the feel of a little sea town. Tons of Entertainment and plenty to see and do. Major mode of transportation was golf carts. It was a little freaky at first sharing the road with cars while driving a golfcart but once you got used to it it was fun as hell. Kind of weird though with about 75% of traffic being golf carts. I have more to tell and maybe some pics to post but I don't want this to be too long so I'll go through my pics (and thoughts)(lol) and share a little more. It was probably two of the most fun days I've had.

...Faygo "Red"  ...when I drank that stuff. I rarely drink pop now but when I do it's sprite.

...as for the term "pop", yeah i know it's soda but back when I was drinking Faygo we called it pop. The first time I heard someone call it a soda I thought they were referring to a float(soda/ice cream). (lol)

My best memories of "Faygo" pop are because of Insane Clown Posse. I did buy the first disc but I'm not a fan. I took a friend's kid and his girlfriend to one of their shows. The first thing I noticed were people in the lot with the Faygo pop cans. Then I noticed a mosh pit at the entrance. (outside). I saw a case of Faygo sitting in the middle of the lot that very quickly became projectiles hurled towards the mosh pit (along with coins, tree branches, and anything else laying around that could be thrown. Once inside after ICP took the stage I noticed two big fridges on stage. Of course they were filled with two liters of Faygo which ICP used to drench the crowd with. Probably the craziest show I've been to. (Top 3 at worst). I think I shared this here before. Anyway, everytime I hear "Faygo" I think of that concert.

That's funny. My wife wanted to see that yesterday before work. It came on TV and she was doing something. She turned around as it was ending and she was like "Shit!!!" "Shit!!!", and I was like "what?", and she said she just missed that commercial so I went to youtube and brought it up so she could watch it. We think that commercia is hilarious. Then I come here and you have it posted.

I got to ride on a zip line Sunday for the first time. My wife has been telling me about this park near us that offers it but I never thought it would be much fun so I didn't give it any thought. We take 5 mile walks on Sundays and we were heading out for that and decided to have breakfast first so we drove past where we were going to find something. On the way we saw a sign for the park she was talking about and after we ate decided to ride by it. On the way to that I ended up on the wrong rode and didn't even know it but I saw a sign for a car show and we decided to hit that. I turned around and going back towards the car show I saw the sign for the park. The car show was at the park. After we checked out the cars we saw that they had walking trails so we did one called a 4 mile loop. Got lost at the end and did some extra walking so we probably got our whole five in. (lol). During the walk I saw them zip lining and it looked a little more fun than I thought so we did one called "The Ride". 2200 ft. downhill over the trees. It was a little scary because I had to go first and didn't see anyone else do it so launching myself off a platform more than 50 ft. off the ground was a little shaky. It was fun as hell though once you realized you weren't falling towards the ground. I let go of the bar and leaned back and rode it like that. It made you go faster. At the end it seems like you're going too fast to be able to stop in such a short distance and that scared me a little. It was so much more fun than I thought it could be and the way our day worked out without any plans and just winging it was perfect. Sorry so long. I just thought I would share.

I know most here don't care for "Five Finger Death Punch" but I love them. (especially live). The reason I'm posting this is I wanted to share something. @Mayhem Festival during Five Finger... Ivan was introducing this song and he was talking about and naming people who guested on their record and then he was like "our absolute favorite was the "Metal God himself" and then said "Rob Halford". Also in Revolver magazine they mentioned that Rob was quoted as claiming Five Finger... to be a favorite of his among new bands (exactly how I feel)and they contacted him not thinking he would accept. When he did they were stoked. I think it's cool that they mention Rob in this way. A little exposure from people that may not pay attention otherwise. To me that's cool and I say "Props" to Five Finger Death Punch for it.

I need help! I've relapsed. I said no more shows "this year" after Aug. 20 but I was online yesterday and saw "Dio Disciples" playing at Ripper's own "Rockhouse" and only 200 hundred tickets being sold and I told myself "No" and then...

...I ordered two tickets (gotta keep the wife addicted also) so it looks like Sept. 15 I'll be getting my fix at Ripper's place with Ripper's band (not technically his but anyway).

...and now Saxon in Cleveland is saying "Dave, ...Dave"    .....aaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!! I have no control. (lol)
