TOPIC: Discuss the new Album
[iamnostradamus88] Monday, February 15, 2010 6:30:33 PM
I really respect and enjoy Nostradamus. Would I personally just like a flat out classic priest style record next? Of course. They experimented and pushed boundaries like they always do and in my opinion it worked. Now get back to it. And I disagree with Nicky as well. AOR was excellent classic priest record and "most" know it. Will they ever make a Screaming or Steel ever again? Probably not. But these guys still got juice left and they'll still deliver the goods. Even if they did make an album as incredible as Screaming or something it wouldn't get the props anyway. The music biz is so fucked nobody would ever know. I mean we the die hards would but Screaming and all that was at a time when they were in there prime.

don't get me wrong J.D i'd love a new Priest record too. that would be my first wish above all else. Infact even though I fully enjoyed Nostradamus(obviously) I would rather a new record then them going all crazy for the whole Theatre show they were talking about for said mention nostradamus. But i'll take what I can get. It's the Priest!

TOPIC: Godsmack
[iamnostradamus88] Thursday, February 11, 2010 7:23:58 PM

I disagree with you to a certain extent. Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park? okay I couldn't agree with you more on your beliefs. Godsmack and System of a Down no. I've spoken about Godsmack earlier in these posts. Alotta people say "generic" and "Alice in Chains ripoff" and what have you and I get it. Personally I don't see it and to each his own dislike them if you may thats fine, but either way,  Godsmack and System of a Down shouldn't have been put into the category of all those other bands of the time. If you call System of a Down processed or label made crap you obviously didn't hear Mezmerize and Hypnotize which in my opinion were very excellent records and the musicianship between them was quite excellent. Godsmack was a band that got really big because they made catchy heavy groove based songs that could be played on the radio(another reason metalheads frown upon them). There popularity started decline a little bit around 2003 and what did they do? Released an older school "rock" based album and an acoustic record. Sounds like a rock band just tryin to do what they want. Thats not exactly a trend of that time. Both records in which still had top radio songs even after there popularity dimmed a little.  Neither of those two bands will fade away because believe it or not they have long extended fanbases unlike Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park who have faded away which I agree with you on. Many people I talk to cringe at the fact that they once liked Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park which says something. I am yet to see someone who liked or likes godsmack or system cringe ever.  Having a dj and making mixed beats and bullshit is not really something i'm into with heavy music. Neither Godsmack nor System of a Down have that. System experimented a little bit with synths and what have you but it was done with a few songs and in a very tasteful manner. Also Godsmack is notorious for being a tight rock band to put on a hell of a show and System of a Down has been on hiatus since 2006 and people are constantly asking and waiting for the reunion. Both bands are passed there prime but they won't fade away in the way that you put it. Godsmack's prime ended around 2003 and there 2006 album went straight to number one in its first week. Like I said "passed" their prime. But at the same time thats just my opinion as you are entitled to yours and i've said it before I get people not liking them. I agree with you on Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park. Disturbed and Slipknot I can't stand but even they do there own thing and I know they are just bands doing what they do because if they were processed crap they wouldn't have continued to put out records like they do now(and they are successful). But I personally just hate when Godsmack and System of a Down get thrown in with the other bands you just mentioned. Neither deserve to be there but they all came from the same time so understandable I guess. It just sucks. lol. Actually those are pretty much the only two bands from that time I like which most certainly says something about that time haha. Maybe there just guilty pleasures lol

spot on J.D. Calling Peyton overrated doesn't necesarily mean we are really putting him down. He's accomplished alot man. Have a super bowl win in itself means he is an Elite QB and will always be remembered as one. The jets also are going to have Kris Jenkins and Leon Washington back. If they can keep the injuries at a low, who knows. And does anybody know the Ladanian Tomilson deal? Hes getting trade or hes a free agent or something? Either way, Thomas Jones ain't too happy with the Jets at least financially so hmmm.......i know thats probably ridiculous but ohh man LT on the JETS? HAHAHA i'm sucha dreamer.

I hear what your saying about the guitar sound. Theres a certain raw attitude missing from that record. Like that Motorhead raw attitude and I do believe it lies in the guitar. Good album, but yes I would recommend a shitload of other motorhead records to people before that one. And oddly enough March or Die is one of two motorhead records I don't own. March or Die and Snake Bite Love are the only two. What is so bad about March or Die? From what I saw Ozzy, Slash and Zakk Wylde play on it.

[iamnostradamus88] Monday, January 11, 2010 3:09:09 PM
2009 I definetly saw some concerts. Saw Metallica 4 times, Living Colour 5 times, this rock band called the toadies, Crue Fest 2(went for godsmack, saw them and motley crue), Testament, Between the Buried and Me, 3 Inches of Blood and yeah maybe a few others I can't think of.

2010:
American Carnage: Slayer/Megadeth/Testament
Overkill
Judas Priest(maybe the nostradamus thing will finally happen)
Godsmack
Toadies
Soundgarden
Red Hot Chili Peppers
and yea. This is of course if all of these bands play, i'll be there. Now let the bashing begin because I know some of these names aren't "METAL" but there are certain bands I've never had the chance to see or bands I never saw headline but yea.

TOPIC: How long have you been a Priest fan?
[iamnostradamus88] Monday, December 21, 2009 10:26:10 PM
i'm a new fan or a NU fan as some of you folks like to call us. It all started back in 2003. I was 14 and a buddy gave me Edward The Great(Iron Maiden hits package) and Living After Midnight(obviously Judas Priest hits package). The priest hits I enjoyed so much more and listened to it all the time. The maiden one pretty much became a novelty on my shelf at that point(i started appreciating maiden about a year later). Around that time I was working at a White Castle fast food joint with a Tower Records right nextdoor. On saturdays i'd go to work, get paid and on my break i'd go and spend it all in Tower. Pretty much every classic priest album I bought there. Good time to get into priest too being they were just about ready to reunite, tour, and put out a kick ass new record. That Tower records has long since been shut down :-( God I miss that place. So i've been defending my faith since 2003!

j.d diamond i couldnt agree more. Patience is needed with sanchez because lets face it, it was a gamble. I think with more experience he will get better. I think hes a bit nervous and some of his mistakes have been mental(but alot have been typical rookie mistakes) and benching him will just make it worse. Its nice that the jets are finally making some smart draft decisions lately.

J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS! Ohh man we actually won a game that I watched!!! Maybe not a great win but a win nonetheless. I'm just hoping the Jets can pull a 500 by the end of the season. If we go 8-8 i'll be satisfied after the beatings we've been taking. I still have faith that Mark Sanchez will be okay as well. I feel its better he makes the mistakes he makes now than later and I do believe the kid has good stuff. Then again this is the Jets we are talking about so ya never know. We've been jinxed with QB's since Namath. Also in addition losing Leon Washington sucked hard even if our rushing game is still awesome(it kinda has to be) and I feel this season also went to crap after Kris Jenkins our nose tackle went out for the year. He was the foundation of that defense and I think they feel naked without him. But like I said, 8-8 with a rookie QB who nobody was completely sure of and a few injuries and a pretty bad losing streak? I'd say that a START. I just wish to god I never became a jets fan lol. To anyone reading DON'T DO THAT TO YOURSELF!

TOPIC: like Megadeth? Discuss them here.......
[iamnostradamus88] Thursday, November 26, 2009 1:14:01 AM
Megadeth is awesome. Mustaine hands down is probably one of the most talented songwriter/guitar players of that brand of music. You can't go wrong with Rust In Peace or Countdown to Extinction. These are metal essentials for anyone getting into metal for the first time. His last three records have been some his best work in years and the new lineup is the best since the classic mustaine/ellefson/friedman/menza lineup. My only beef is Mustaine's personality is not an attractive one. Judging from videos ive seen and interviews i've read he is a whiny, arrogant baby where one minute hes fine and loves everyone and everything and the next minute he hates everyone and everything. But between all of u people and this messageboard, Metallica is my all time favorite band haha so maybe thats why I feel this way.

I very much like the new slayer record. Ya see to me Slayer is a personal preference. I know people will disagree with this but I think that alot of there records have to do with what songs and albums as a whole standout to you yourself. Like to me for example Motorhead doesn't have any bad records. At least the records I've heard(good luck ever hearing all 5000 of them haha). Granted I like them all but I can say that I like Kiss Of Death more than I like Motorizer because the songs on Kiss Of Death do more for me not to say i'm putting down Motorizer because I think thats a fine little record. So with that said the new slayer record sounds like bread and butter slayer but I think it's there best since Seasons because I really think that Dave Lombardo makes a big difference. You want him on your slayer records and in no way am I dissing Paul Bostaph(rock on TESTAMENT!!) or John Dette but Lombardo is the drummer for slayer. Christ Illusion was to me the best since Seasons at the time especially once again with the return of Lombardo but world painted blood to me was a tad bit more thought out, the songs STANDOUT more to me, and this record is also alot shorter than Christ Illusion. I think slayer records are better when they are shorter. This record has a little bit more of a classic feel to it than the last few. Plus I dig the lyrics on this one. I'm much more a fan of Araya and Hannemen writings than I am Kerry King. Ironically enough the weakest songs on the record to me are the Kerry King self penned tunes. This however is just my opinion.

TOPIC: New live Priest CD

I think the new live priest is an excellent live record and also quite a unique one in its own right. I'm sure the things i'm about to say are already known but I think its great that they made a live record with songs that have never been on live records in the past. That immediatly made it feel warm to me. They weren't just dishing something out to earn a buck or something. They put that out for the hardcore priest fans. Plenty of old priest and new priest to go around. my only beef is it could've been a bit longer. But what can I say? I get greedy! I love the priest and I can't get enough!
