Everleigh - when I saw the photo you posted on 03/04/2012 at 7:54 pm of Rob & Glenn I about fell out of my chair laughing.
Might have spit out a beverage if I'd had one.  LOL
Their facial expressions in light of their"positions" are frickin' PRICELESS!!!!

As for the pics you have - please share all the Scott photos you can.
I shall never tell you to stop

Nice to see (most of) the usuals are here ... and to see the new folks too.

Rock on all!!!!

He looks familiar but I can't place him.

Anybody going to see the guys in Hammond, IN Nov 12 or Detroit, MI Nov 13?

TOPIC: KK Downing Has Retired
[MetalPixie] Monday, April 25, 2011 10:30:39 PM
Greetings all.  Been eons since I've posted ... and the last time was due to the "farewell tour"announcement
(or possibly a request for Scottie pics!).
Just read through all the posts on this thread and it's amazing how "entitled" we all feel.
For as much as everyone says they appreciate the 40+ years of music he's given us -
many of us seem to have turned on him just because he made a decision we don't like or understand.
While it saddens me that KK has chosen to retire he doesn't "owe" us anymore than he's told us.
We have no idea what's gone on behind the scenes.
Heck - anyone who's even been in just a local cover band knows there can be a huge amount of turmoil among members - even if you are like family.
At least KK isn't bashing the guys individually or the band as a whole.
This band has ALWAYS presented a professional front ... unlike most of the train wreck bands in the industry.
And he's confirmed that his health is fine.
Would we really want him on the tour if his heart isn't in it?  For us OR for him?
How many of us have initially agreed to do something and then had second thoughts ... for whatever reason?
What a bunch of fair weather fans we are ... KK won't be there, so screw the whole band?  Makes no sense.
By the way - I don't disagree that this really should have been made public prior to tickets going on sale IF THEY NEW ABOUT IT and IF KK was ok with announcing it at that time.  But it shouldn't make that big a difference.  This is still a BUSINESS for the guys and their management team ... and we all know that not all business decisions are popular.
Perhaps KK agreed to tour until the band found a suitable replacement?  Who knows.
Priest survived even when Rob left (...and here come the anti-Ripper folks' comments...). Priest will survive even without KK.
Priest is a BAND ... it is greater than the sum of its parts.
Before you jump to conclusions - hear what they release.
Seriously - if you're willing to turn your back on the band that has done so much for you over the years, stay home.
You'll leave better seats for those of us who truly appreciate and respect this band for what it's been, what it is, and who each person is who has EVER been a part of the band and for those of us who want to celebrate that.
Take this for what it's worth to you ... the music world is watching us cave in on ourselves.  What an embarrassment to the band.

OMG!  I take a three-month hiatus and there are OOODLES of new people on here!!!
Okay - now that spring is supposedly around the corner, I can come out of hibernation.
I have landed a new band gig!!  Check out www.thecrunchyfrogs.com
My first gig with this veteran 12-year band is April 23 ... and I AM PSYCHED!!!
Once new photos get taken (and I figure out how to POST the darn things) I'll toss a few up here.
Check them (and me) out on facebook and myspace too ... I gotta get more computer savvy ... *sigh*
Miss you all ... GREAT pics DF.  I'm taking you up on your offer to sing with ya in Vegas ... one of these days.
TOPIC: Farewell Priest
[MetalPixie] Thursday, December 16, 2010 12:51:21 PM
HeadBanger, I agree totally.
THIS is the place where details and explanations should be found ... not in one-member interviews on his solo tour or in snippets from other on-line heavy metal music news sources.

Do the guys "owe" us an explanation?  No.
Not anymore than Guido "owes" an explanation as to why he wears the shoes he wears.
(Sorry - Guido - had to pick on you a little bit).

Using the guise of a "big" announcement in December was pretty crummy though.

I don't fault the guys for wanting to retire ... I cannot imagine how hard it is to leave your families for months/years at a time ... BUT there was a better way to do it.  I imagine this is how it felt to get Rob's "fax" when he wanted to pursue his solo career (again ... that's the story of how he left - I'm not putting any real credence into it).

Nobody's self-sites are saying much either (obviously).

Unfortunately, I remember the JP site when Ripper was in the band ... and there was no love for Ms Andrews then either.  Heck - I don't even SEE any of those folks on this noticeboard...unless, of course, you're using aliases now.

Sad.  Still deeply saddened.

I joke about why my cover band broke up ("creative differences" ... I know, in a freakin' cover band?!) - but I wonder if there is some thread of that throughout the albums many of you gripe about.  You've got a writing team solidly built of 3 people - with different perspectives, interests, agendas (not meant in a bad way) and personalities.  Could that be why "we" aren't getting the exact music "we" think "we" want?  Do we really know how much input Ian and Scott have on the new songs?  How about the in-studio producers/engineers?  I love most of the stuff Rob has done on his own ... and Glenn too.  And I love the RacerX stuff Scott's done.  But not EVERY song is my favorite ... we've all just got different tastes.  I don't know - just a rambling.

Grieving.  We're all just grieving ...

Oh ... for the opportunity to meet many of you on the upcoming tour ...
you all sound like you have had a blast hanging out together -
I'm envious.

I still cannot get over all the negativity from some of you.
So the Priest released "experimental" albums ...
that's what being innovative, creative, and leaders in something means!!
It means you aren't afraid to try something new-ish while staying grounded in your roots.

These 5 gentlemen have poured heart, soul and sweat into giving us AWESOME music and concert experiences for DECADES!  Heck ... ANYONE who's EVER been lucky enough to be in this band is part of that legacy.

If you're ready to move on from this band - do it.  It just leaves more room for us truly appreciative fans to show them what we're made of!

I do find it interesting that the announcement came out in the midde of Rob's 'Halford' project touring.
[And NO - I am NOT accusing him or JP mgmt of anything ... this is just an observation.]
Not that it will hurt his draw or anything ... just interesting timing (as I continue to sit here pondering this whole ordeal).
(Kind of reminds me of when Mike Holmgren announced he was leaving Green Bay for Seattle ... WHILE the Packers were still playing and still had play-off hopes)
It's allllllllllllllllllllllll about the delivery ...

TOPIC: Farewell Priest
[MetalPixie] Wednesday, December 08, 2010 12:17:35 PM
Icecreamman, you slightly perked up this extremely saddened Metal Pixie!

Yes - I too understand that the guys have earned the right to retire. It is just very difficult to fathom saying goodbye right now ... a few years after Rob re-joins the band ... knowing he still tours! ... and when bands like the Stones are still touring at what - 100+ years old?!

However, I would like to see the slamming on AOR and Nostradamus stop.  From a musical, creative, theme perspective, Nostradamus was awesome.  Was it as hard-driving as earlier albums? No.  But it is still a phenomenal artistic piece in it's own right.  We all have our favorites ... and just like the guys have a right to retire or limit their touring, they have a right to write albums THEY want to write.

I'm trying to figure out how to make it to Sweden for the June kick-off (a week before my birthday) ... I have ALWAYS wanted to follow the guys around for a week and will figure out how to do that too (once they're back in the States).

Funny ... my son cannot understand why this bums me out so much.  I've determined that if you didn't live through the 80's you cannot understand the effect Priest (or any band) has has on a person.  I now understand how Beatles fans felt ...

Hoping and praying for strength to get through this.  Whether in 2011 or 2031 ... there will NEVER be another band as great and mighty and the beast that is ... Judas f**king Priest!!!!

Long live the beast that is Priest.

bigger than U2, Gaga, Bieber ... whoever.
This is OUR chance to show the world what an impact Priest has had on the industry
and on fans.

Ok ... how about one (1) song from every album (all the way back to Rocka Rolla AND including the Ripper-era albums) ...
and NOT the "hit" tune(s) from any of them.
Get a true overview of the band's history and hear songs that rarely [if ever] got live play.

And, while they're at it ...
how about including stuff from the guys' non-Priest projects?
"Scarified" by Racer X
Anything off Glenn's solo albums
Anything off Rob's solo stuff
Get the band KK just produced to open for them

I don't know ... mix it up a little bit - I think these guys are at a place now where they could do this and it would WORK!!!!

I love the usuals ... but there is so much more meat to this band!!!!!

Just a ponderance -
is Painkiller the "standard" to be compared to because it was the first to feature Scott ...
who remains Priest's drummer extraordinaire?
So people feel it's "the bar" for the current line-up??

So many people lost "faith" when Turbo came out ...
and Painkiller not only returned to the driving power Priest was known for BUT it also incorporated current hard rock/metal trandsat the time.

Not sure why ANYONE feels the need to compare albums.
One album isn't supposed to sound like another otherwise you're likely stagnant and not evolving.

2. we played in a town with a population of less than 1000
3. and the nearby campgrounds (which "opened" this weekend) decided to have bands too.

Thanks for the Travis Tuesday photos, Joe!!
Hey, since you're married ... could I request your asistance in getting ME that close to him?
I gig too - so looking at someone the morning after a gig doesn't bother me in the least.
Especially when it's Scottie!!  WooHoo!!

Sorry Nikky ... not sure why Travis Tuesday bugs you so much - but it is a little slice of heaven for some of us.
TOPIC: MTV DISRESPECTS JUDAS PRIEST
[MetalPixie] Friday, February 12, 2010 12:19:10 PM
and the funniest thing????  MTV posts an article about Snookie's first interview being Priest - and how they are FANS of the SHOW!
Now, I listened to the "interview" - and that is NOT the impression I got at all.
It's called sarcasm.  And it was beautifully doled out by two professional gentlemen.
Criminies ... even I know who she is and I most definitely do not watch the show.
However, I guess we can all be accused of being "fans" of train-wrecks at one time or another.
sheeesh ...

I L-O-V-E-D Scott's happy dance!

I recall a telephone interview Scott did ... he kept referring to Priest as a 3rd party -
the interviewer mentioned it and Scott responded that he was a fan before he was a member ...
and so he keeps talking about "them" like that.

His happy dance is EXACTLY what I would have done ... as an over-the-top freakingly ecstatic Priest fan!!

WoooooooHooooooooo!!!

Amen, Eddie!!  About the Grammys AND the ProBowl!!  Question (because I seriously do not know the answer) ... is there ANYBODY on the Grammy voting committee UNDER the age of 55 and who EVER listened to hard rock/heavy metal??

Congratulations to the Grammys for FINALLY giving the greatest metal band of all time the respect you deserve!!
Rob - class and professional as always ... and quite dapper in the outfit (love the razor necklace!!).
Scott - how fun to see you sprint down the aisle and up the stairs ... yet defer to Rob for the acceptance speech.
Love you all - and so proud to be a Priest fan!!!
See you 'round the next tour!!

Amen and hallelujah!!!!!

Brick House ... the Commodores
(don't deny it ... you all start be-bopping when you hear this one.  Regardless of the die-hard metal fan you might be.)

Reminds me of one of the Muppet movies (I think it's "Muppets Take Manhatten") from when I was a kid.
Miss Piggy's theme at the beginning of the flick.

I would LOVE So.Cal. (not sure how I feel about earthquakes and typhoons, but they sound better than freezing my arse off!!)
Coming home from my band's gig at 2am this morning, the temp was a balmy -4 degrees Fahrenheit.

Maybe - once the kid is grown and out of the house and I no longer have to deal with his dad -
I can hightail it outta the geting-more-frozen-every-year-tundra commonly known as the midwest.

*sigh*

Okay ... I know it's officially winter and all, but for cryin' out loud!
Northern Illinois s-u-c-k-s!!
Cold.  Snow.  Wind.
Should have learned to ski or snowmobile or something when I was younger.
And, could a girl get at least a little sunshine when it's 20 degrees outside?

Lived here my entire life ... and cannot get used to it.
Maybe I'll move to someplace warm(er) in 5 years or so - when the kid's 18 and off at college.

*groan* ... and just wait until January/February hit.

Guess I need some 5W30 oil in my veins instead of blood.
Can't layer enough clothes to stay warm without looking like the freaking Michelen Tire Man!

brrrrrrrrrr ... know any nice warm bodies that like to snuggle?!

TOPIC: Scottie Married?!?!
[MetalPixie] Sunday, December 27, 2009 3:36:49 PM
Alright - now I'm "cornfused".
TODAY's myspace page is back to "in a relationship".

Is he or ain't he?!?!
BTW "in a relationship" can mean a world of different things -
so I'm less concerned with the drool/guilt continuum ... teehee

I am (selfishly) saddened to report that, according to a recent update to Mr. Travis' myspace page, it appears our Speed Demon hotter-than-Hades drummer managed to get himself married in the recent months [at least, he only updated his page within the last month or so].

While I wish him and the new Mrs. the best of luck  ... I am heartbroken.

Wonder if I can still drool over him without feeling guilty?
