First Gary Coleman, then Dennis Hopper and now Golden Girls Rue McClanahan
NEW YORK — Rue McClanahan, the Emmy-winning actress who brought the sexually liberated Southern belle Blanche Devereaux to life on the hit TV series "The Golden Girls," has died. She was 76.
Her manager Barbara Lawrence said McClanahan died Thursday at 1 a.m. of a stroke.
She had undergone treatment for breast cancer in 1997 and later lectured to cancer support groups on "aging gracefully." In 2009, she had heart bypass surgery.
McClanahan had an active career in off-Broadway and regional stages in the 1960s before she was tapped for TV in the 1970s for the key best-friend character on the hit series "Maude," starring Beatrice Arthur. After that series ended in 1978, McClanahan landed the role as Aunt Fran on "Mama's Family" in 1983.
But her most loved role came in 1985 when she co-starred with Arthur, Betty White and Estelle Getty in "The Golden Girls," a runaway hit that broke the sitcom mold by focusing on the foibles of four aging — and frequently eccentric — women living together in Miami.
"Golden Girls" aimed to show "that when people mature, they add layers," she told The New York Times in 1985. "They don't turn into other creatures. The truth is we all still have our child, our adolescent, and your young woman living in us."
Blanche, who called her father "Big Daddy," was a frequent target of roommates Dorothy, Rose and the outspoken Sophia (Getty), who would fire off zingers at Blanche such as, "Your life's an open blouse."
"It's a European shoulder bag." <--- Gotta love those Progressive commercials.

This was the weirdest gift I received, A woman I was associated with through work, who I hated, and she knew it, tells me a week before Christmas I got you a Christmas present, but that doesn't mean you have to get me one" which means you have to get them a gift. She got me a very nice basket with shower gels and a pair of underwear in the basket, I was really freaked out by this. I said thank you and went into my office and picked them out with a pen and in the garbage they went.
I knew it was a scam, I didn't know if she should just tear it up or bring to the police, she has a good friend who is a cop and she is going to call him tomorrow. I always get emails saying I won or I'm entitled to millions of dollars, I just deleted them without opening them.
My sister just recieved a check for $5,000. It is from a man in Los Angeles, drawn a bank in LA. It came in an airmail envelope mailed from somewhere in England with no return address, in the memo section of the check it say "service". I think it's some kind of money laundering scam. I think when they see the check cleared they contact you and say you recieved the check by mistake and need to return the money. Do you think I'm right and she should give it to the police?
Wendy Dio, the wife and manager of legendary heavy metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW), has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:
"Ronnie has been diagnosed with the early stages of stomach cancer. We are starting treatment immediately at the Mayo Clinic. After he kills this dragon, Ronnie will be back on stage, where he belongs, doing what he loves best, performing for his fans.
"Long live rock and roll, long live Ronnie James Dio.
"Thanks to all the friends and fans from all over the world that have sent well wishes. This has really helped to keep his spirit up."
Ronnie James Dio, 67, has performed with ELF, RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH, and his own band DIO. Other musical projects include the collective fundraiser "Hear 'n Aid". He is widely hailed as one of the most powerful singers in heavy metal, renowned for his consistently powerful voice and for popularizing the "devil's horns" hand gesture in metal culture. He is currently involved with HEAVEN & HELL, a project which also includes former BLACK SABBATH bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice. Their first studio album, "The Devil You Know", was released on April 28, 2009.
DIO cancelled its European tour last week after Ronnie was taken ill. The band's lineup for the trek was supposed to include WHITESNAKE/ex-DIO axeman Doug Aldrich due to the fact that the group's regular guitarist, Craig Goldy, had prior touring commitments with BUDGIE in Australia.
DIO's last release was the "Holy Diver Live" CD, featuring a performance of the classic "Holy Diver" album in its entirety, from start to finish, recorded live for the very first time in 2005 in front of a sold-out London crowd.

Good day to my friends on the Board, I hope all has been well with all of you!!
I normally keep you all up to date with the happy going ons of my family and I...today will be no different but it doesn't involve my kids. This weekend I visited a wonderful friend of the Board as well as a person who really means a lot to me, and that would be Bev. The controversies about his birth certificate to to the lies about his church, its crazy because ive seen so much different opinions on the guy from him being the greatest man in recorded history to some going as far as saying that he is the Anti-christ. Many americans i talk to are sure of some kind of revolution or civil war is in the near future.
I know this could have been left to the political thread, but i think this deserves a little more light than that. Rumors are getting crazier everytime i hear them. A friend showed me a video of supposed "death camps" being built in cities across the country. The video ends with a really big message "LEAVE AMERICA NOW!" I cant help but think this is just nuts trying to scare the crap out of gulible people, but at the same time certain things going on i can honestly say are kinda freaky. All citizens are going to have to go through military training for 3 months, mandatory? Free speech being limited to free speech "Zones" I really would like to know what some people think on this subject.

Since letting on about my small, distant, connection ... I have had this uneasy gnawing in the back of my mind that folks somehow hold a grudge toward me by association. That they don't believe I am a fan, because I am good friends with the woman that married Ian after Sue. Lots of hardcore Halford fans may see this as an afront, maybe not. Some may know more than I do about the years I missed while my friend lived in England. She had her own group of friends. I only heard from her on holidays, etc. So I am serious when I say, I don't know anything and am really another fan like the rest of you. She is still very guarded about those years, refuses to talk to anyone, more out of concern for her daughter's privacy than anything.
So I hope we all can start fresh with that understanding. I am here to contribute my small bit of politeness, pride, and protection. And in return try to learn from you all, fill in the gaps that the years that passed have left gaping.

I have to agree with you 100%. This woman is unemployed, recieving food stamps and govt. benefits with 6 kids, so how do you get on your feet again,You go and have 8 more kids. NOT. Now she wants people to donate money to raise her kids. AOL has a poll, and it seems most of the public will not donate, they feel she and the doctors are irresponsible (you think!). I guess she is hoping for a TV shows, like ones on TLC. DON"T BITE OFF MORE THAN YOU CAN CHEW! Maybe people will donate to have her tubes tied. I am SO friggin sick of hearing about "Octo-Mom". I am sure you all know of whom I speak. The woman that recently gave birth to eight kids and already has six others, yet has NO job, NO insurance and NO husband! Nice. I suppose I could follow the lead of countless others and complain about the obvious but, that would not be nearly enough!
It is bad enough that this woman has blatantly abused the social-support system in this country but it goes much deeper than that. Clearly, she has done an incredibly foolish and disgusting thing but , as I am now very intimate with the "system" and trying to get aid , which I have PAID for over the last twenty years, she is basically the poster child for all that is wrong with people who milk our social services. Moreover, there is the matter of her parents that are forced to assist in raising 14 friggin kids at a time in their lives where they have paid their dues and should be enjoying the peaceful existence they worked so hard to earn.
It is not just about having kids, or "loving" kids. I truly believe there is a case for abuse here, as this person cannot support what she has and yet is burdening her parents, AND YOU, with her offspring! Then there is the matter of the "doctors" that allowed this to happen. The list goes on and on and, the more I type, the angrier I get.
I have been a very fortunate man. I had a good education. A great career and great insurance when the worst happened to me. Yet, I have had to fight , tooth and nail, to get the support I have earned and I did not do it by exploiting babies. And make NO mistake! As far as this woman and her actions, it is pure exploitation for personal gain. For FACK sake, they are even comparing her to Angelina Jolee!!!(sp?) WHAT!!?!??!?!??!?!?! Whatever.
All the do-gooders and liberal bleeding hearts deserve this walking, talking human fecal matter. She is a troll and a social leech. If there is any justice in this world, those kids will be removed and given to homes where they are properly supported and not used as money makers. As for the woman, jail is not even good enough. I say bring back crucifixion.... THAT'S RIGHT! I SAID IT!

Hey, have you guys been keeping up with Rob's video diaries? Haha, someone needs to tell him to hold the camera right side up
I love watching them though.
I was at both of these concerts, The flying cushions were wild. I think that MSG can forgive and forget, they were paid for damages. and it was almost 25 yrs ago. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by VICTIM OF METAL from Wednesday, September 10, 2008 6:41:57 PM)

Thanks for posting scorion01. Thinking back to this show i remember K.K. Dowing while coming down the stairs on his side, slipped and fell/slide down the steps. This happened before the so called "cushion incident", does anyone remember this? If the Garden (M.S.G.) doesn't allow them to preform there before they hang it up for good, it will be their loss( the Garden) .

VICTIM - I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET THESE PICTURES SCANNED. I TOOK THESE SOMEWHERE BETWEEN THE HELL BENT FOR LEATHER AND SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE TOURS. I USED TO LOVE DEVELOPING MY OWN PHOTOS.
NOTICE THE ONE WITH THE SEAT CUSSIONS AROUND THE BIKE. THAT WAS THE ONE TAKEN AT THE MADISON SQUARE GARDEN SHOW THE LAST TIME THEY PLAYED THERE. WHEN HALFORD SIGNED IT HE TOLD US THE STORY ABOUT KK AND GLEN GOING BACK TO THE GARDEN FOR THE TENNIS MATCH.
CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO MAKE THESE PICTURES LARGER. I'M NOT QUITE THE COMPUTER WIZ.

Years ago I had a job in a small office, just me and the boss, he sold computer hardware, he would stand behind me and tell me what to type on the invoice, I can't type with someone standing behind me. Well he said hard disc, my brains heard hard disc, but my fingers typed hard dick, he went hyterical laughing, I was sooooooo embaressed.
