I still cannot beleive that Arturo Gatti has died... exactly he was murdered. He was one of my favourite boxers, true warrior, fought with passion and brave. If he was knocked down he always got up and didn't surrender... He was the quintessence of valour and honour - a real boxer, real spectacular person! He has took part in four "fights of the year", and many of his fights were also very great and very interesting, he has several WBC and IBF champion belts and three unbelievable fights against Mickey Ward. But now he's gone... 37 years old... RIP. Sorry that I posted it here, just haven't found needed thread. Everyone who likes professional boxing must knows this great guy and remember him.

Of course, I respect your opinion too... But when someone says the next phrases "How can anybody disagree that "Turbo" is Judas Priest's worst album?" or "Grade this album an "F" for "failure" I cannot pass it by. It sounds like your opinion is only the right one and cannot be wrong. You said it with certainly, that's why I told that you should write "IMO" in your post. Sorry if I wrong... No worries my friend.....everybody has an opinion. I've seen someone post a while back that they "hated Painkiller" album.....and I've seen a post where
someone hated "Screaming For Vengeance".......I've seen a post where someone couldn't stand "British Steel"....so there are many different opinions in here
and there is not one of them that is "wrong" because its up to the individual to decide what they like obviousy as you already know......
Judas Priest are the best band in the world...that is something hopefully that we can all agree on!
| | Russian Priest wrote: | | J.D., I've read this post and cannot agree. I like "Turbo" too much, it's one of the most favourite albums to me. It sounds perfect and has wild energy, always blows my mind away. Yes, there is some glam-rock sources, but it's not a problem for JP - every album they do something special, and do not plagiat from themselves.
Turbo lover - great song with great atmosphere created by good-choosen sound effects, perfect refrain that sends shivers down my spine! Perfect work!
Private property - I like this song executing live! Good choice to head-bang "Hands up! Ooo-ooo!" When they played it in Moscow 2005, I think it was the best their perfomance on that show.
Rock you all around the world - great fast song!
Out in the cold - a masterpiece! Unbelievable song! Great mix of hopelessness, male firmness, unrequited love and coldness that reproduces in every sound, in every note. One of the best priest's songs ever.
WIld nights - good riffs, good lyrics ;) perfect refrain to sing together! Real rock-hymn of 80's!
And all other songs are also very-very good! Don't understand why you think so, but you should write "IMO" in your post, no doubt.
About "Nostradamus":
Every time I enjoy this album. I think JP showed us how old-school heavy metal music should develops. They didn't make anything new with song's compositions, it were the same classic riffs, but they did new approach to songs: new arrangements, new ideas, new sounding, new sences, new instruments, new vision... a lot of "new" in old genre. They've opened our eyes to see "Heavy metal has not died and there are too many horizons in our favourite genre". That's why I like this album. My respect to JP for it. Hope in next album they will do big work and we'll see something special again Edited at: Friday, July 10, 2009 10:00:54 AM |

Yes, I read on the site how he has lost the mask, but still cannot beleive! :) Since he has lost the mask, he stands lower mystery person and also not so charming... There was a riddle, a mystic wrestler, but now it's not. Earlier I thought "Wow! What is it?! A big red machine! Unbelievable man!", he riveted my attention, but now he stands like many others wrestlers (excluding Kane is very big man ). I thinks this reason will decrease his popularity and quntity of fans. But I could failed...
The Undertaker
I could also be wrong, but he is the most experienced and "long-living" wrestler now. Really charismatic person! Stone Cold Steve Austin had to retire because Owen Hart did a piledriver on him & Steve's head was too low --had 3 neck surgeries & decided to retire
When I was younger I liked The Rock N Roll Express--Ric Flair--Dusty Rhodes & I was madly in love with Nikita Koloff
Bruno Sammartino -My dad & I met him in Baltimore --we stayed at the same hotel he did --got pics & autographs & he was just the nicest person ever
Kane lost his mask in a match against Rey Mysterio--mask vs mask--that's when I discovered Kane was bald & it was just a wig--Kane had a meet & greet about 10 years ago when he still had his mask --Got my pic taken with him & his autograph for $20 --me & 3 of my nieces went & we had the time of our lives --of course all he could do back then was grunt--many nice memories--sorry for babbling but I could talk about wrestling for years !! |

Yes, I agree, there are professional wrestling and amateur wrestling as well, but it is not a sport competition, it has no sport contest, because it's only a show, good-looking show with perfect stage direction. I have nothing against wrestling (approx 8-10 years ago I also watch it on TV sometimes , it was the age of Rock, Rikishi, Stone Cold and reunioned brothers Kane and Undertaker - I remember, wow! ), but I say with confidence - WWE wrestling is not a sport. Professional sport implies that sportsman earns a salary (or bonus) for results he makes, but wrestlers are not. They make a lot of many with their show, charm and tricks, not to victories or any other sport achievements.
But I have no any complaints to you if you will continue to discuss it there, I just was surprised at first time when I saw WWE wrestling in this thread! ...if every time when you hear the first song from any album of any band you prepare to get the special Rob's scream before the first verse begins
P.S. I still cannot forgive to Rob that he didn't scream in the begining of "Prophecy" song! :) When I heard it at first time I wait it too much! |

Guido? Does he (she?) like art-rock?))
Yes, it's really very special band with very interesting music. I like them too much, hope some people here will like them too. 99% of rock and metal bands in post-USSR countries were not original, but Piknik has took its own way and every new album impresses me. That's why they got my respect! This band has jusy only one negative moment - their lyrics is very difficult to translate
Of course I posted them here, because when I created this topic I didn't mean that we will discuss only metal bands here. You may post here all you want! Even R'n'B and Rap
If I got a little time today evening I'll post here something else. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by J.D. DIAMOND from Monday, July 06, 2009 10:58:25 PM) | | J.D. Today I would like to introduce you with one russian non-heavy band. It's called "Piknik". They plays art-rock with mystical, gothic, symbolysm and phylosophic themes in theirs lyrics since 1979. Their music charmes by mysterious atmosphere, specific vocals, folk instruments and special sound effects. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piknik

Aria are pretty cool. I heard a couple of songs from them. I prefer Arkona, tho (Sila Slavnih is a bloody great song).
My contribution: Bosnian (or at the time Yugoslavian) band Divlje Jagode (the name literary means "Wild strawberries"...) and the song "Motori" ("Motorcycles"). Video quality is crap, but you can hear the song at least...

I'm starting with the most famous Russian metal-band, that's why sometimes we call them "Russian Iron Maiden". But the true name of them is Aria. It was formed in 1985 in Moscow. Since it was formed it had many staff changings therefore only one person stayed there from the time the band started to play - guitarist and leader Vladimir Holstinin. As Aria started Valeriy Kipelov was the vocalist (one of the best Russian voices in metal ever) but in 2002 he left the band and started his solo-project. Arthur Berkut changed him and now Aria produced 2 albums with new frontman: Baptism by the Flame (2003) and Armageddon (2006). 90% of Aria's music was written by Vladimir Holstinin and Vitaliy Dubinin (bass-guitarist joined to band in 1987) and also 90% of their lyrics was written by their friend - rock-poetess Margarita Pushkina. Now Aria has 10 studio albums, several concert DVDs and of course many fans in Russia and all around the world)))
