That was a knee slapper. I remember that. The problem with the health care reform debate here in America was that it was split into two artificial choices-let people die and go bankrupt, or insure everyone! This does not make sense. The "solution" does not address the problem, but adds more to our national ills. Every gov't agency is bleeding out of every orifice, and it is getting worse with each day (or bill) passing.
Been reading "The Creature From Jekyll Island" lately. Anybody read it? Talks about the Federal Reserve, bailouts, our money. The more one finds out about our federal reserve, fractional reserve banking, bailouts, and our debt backed currency, the more one begins to wonder how long this will all last.

It might have something to do with the fact that the last two are bonus tracks. As guidogodoy mentioned, the original (I think first 20,000 copies according to metal-archives.com) had the fifteen, the rest do not include the last two tracks at all.

For everyone getting an mp3 player, I'd recommend a case. The screen gets scratched the second it's out of the box. Worth while investment, especially if you plan on viewing photos or videos.

Well, if Ram it Down, Hard as Iron, Heavy Metal, Blood Red Skies, I'm a Rocker....were all leftovers-makes me wonder what all the other left overs from other discs were. That "leftover" on the Turbo remaster edition was also pretty killer. Priest's "left overs" I'll take!
I've known tracks off of RID were originally slated for the "Twin Turbo" double album, but not the exact tracks. Anyone know which ones? I know some of the drumming on that album is machine. Anyone know the breakdown of the tracks that were left off Turbo? Ram it Down, what an interesting album- spawned of Turbo, and yet bringing the fastest Priest songs until the very next album-Painkiller!

New industry ideas is where the most benefit lies as far as I'm concerned. To make anything faster, cheaper, better, or more efficient requires a "need," the finger that does the prodding. Nobody innovates without a motivation. These kind of times spur some creative thinking, that's for sure. This is where the recession "helps" business and consumers in the long run.
That which doesn't kill you may become a festering infection. Stealing away needed energy.... If too many are forced to cut to the bone, and market conditions do not improve, what next..?
some get more, some get less. hopefully new directions emerge, new industry and ideas, and more people end up in a stronger position.

Your previous post explains perfectly why science is not a religion-it is the stark differences between scientists and clerics. Facts=/=Faith. No way, no how.
The differences in approach is what defines each.
Can a cleric who claims things based on a book be called a scientist?
The emotional attachment that scientists have to their specific area of study, and who are part of hot button issues (like global warming) might be similar to a cleric's attachment to their religion. But that attachment is simply a by product of their persuit. The fervor of clerics and scientists is based on two completely different things. An imperfect analogy would be to compare the fervor between a Priest fan at a Priest show and a tween at a Hannah Montana show. The tween is not a metal head, despite the similarities in enthusiasm. The cleric is not a scientist. Both seek answers, both are defined by their method.
could science be a religion then? explaining that which can not be understood?

Jeez, greatest metal album ever? Half the time I can't even decide on my favorite Priest album...
I'm a huge Priest fan, but I think most any metal fan can agree that Painkiller has to be in the running for that title. That album embodies everything metal from start to finish. There is no flaw, heavy to the core, and relentless in it's aggression.
I'm a youngun', so I wasn't around when SFV or BS came out, wasn't a part of the time of those albums came out unfortunately. Had I been there, I'm sure my opinion would be different, so I can't argue against anyone saying British Steel, or Screaming was the best.

Why is you reason? It is the lst damn show of the tour!
Plus that is your opinion. If we do or don't want to know theset list we could choose NOT to read it.
Please since this is JP fan site, I'd say that you are the odd man out in thinking that we do not want to know the "different" set list.
99.8% of the people on this site want to know set lists.

Science and religion are in conflict so long as religion stands in the way of science. The fact that there are religious scientists points to the fact that they are not necessarily in conflict.
If there were a scientific way to prove God existed, I'm sure scientists would discover it, publish the findings for all to see, and celebrate. The main goal in science is to establish fact. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Head banger from Thursday, August 20, 2009 8:15:34 AM)
Way back when, rumors were swirling that Angel of Retribution was going to be a double disc because while interviewed, they stated having enough material for two discs. We all know it was one disc, so I'm wondering where the material went. If it didn't end up working it's way into Nostradamus, perhaps we have a head start already. Priest (or I think Jayne) said the reason for all that material was so they could release another album faster... Here's hopin'! [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by J.D. He was screaming his way through the songs better than he has in years.
The only dissapointment was that they did not play a longer set. They went on stage an hour earlier than usual because of the departure of Whitesnake ( I was happy about that considering I had an hour and a half drive home following the show).

Let's say I don't agree with Strat on Western global policy, how am I to understand (or respect) his point of view if I've never had to walk in his shoes? So, he would need to explain to me how he came to that point of view, what facts support or relate to me something he went through himself. It happens way too often that opinions are given when the one who gives it can't substantiate it...if they even know what they're talking about. That above all else really gets to me and I admit...get's extremely frustrating...especially if I can substantiate mine. That was just example Strat, nothing more!!

Well, Id say that its because we all have our opinions that we value a lot... And especialy in this thread those opinions touch things like patriotism, religion, ethnic backgrounds etc. Which are usualy very personal, and its easy to get into a situation where someones opinion insults someone else.
I dont know... I usualy try not to be insulting, especialy towards regular members, although I guess I have slipped from time to time. Anyway, if I have an opinion on something I will say it, and I have been attacked for it before. Anthing from my critic of religion, opposing ethnic and national pride, opposing the Western global policy... And I guess some of my responses could be considered attacks as well. IDK. I think that above all we should keep in mind that just because someone says something we dont like, its not because that person wants to attack us or hurt us, but because that person really does think that way.

I'm with you on Metallica, a fan, but what the hell?!
It sounds like you're describing a type of casual music fan, one that has a band list ranging from Metallica to Miley Cyrus?! My brother's similar, he likes rap to metal, most of the metal he likes came from my speakers, hehe. Whatever "sounds cool" for him at the moment is what is on.
I've never seen the Enter Sandman video, but "hair-sprayed curls"?! This was the band that would mock Motley Crue for wearing make up and grandma's jewelery...
Heh, is Metallica a bigger disappointment than Anthrax even? LOL.
Ooooh Metallica! I'll admit, I am a Metallica fan, although I am selective about what I like of theirs I guess you could say LOL! Their first 4 albums were awesome, I enjoy the Black Album, after that for me they absolutely lost their way, with songs here and there that I do like to a certain extent. They did a complete 180 turn and came up with all sorts of randomness, for lack of a better word - Reload anyone? For some reason their popularity has endured - it has nothing to do with quality music, and a lot to do with what it perceived as 'cool' to listen to by certain groups of people. You see it in kids a lot, a couple of them like *shudder* Miley Cyrus, a whole bunch of their friends follow suit cos it must be cool. Bizarre logic but it happens LOL!
True metal fans do not like a band/artist because their mates like them, or because they are what is shown by the media to be the best. I think this mentality is especially prevalent in Priest fans Priest will ALWAYS have an enduring popularity thanks to the fact their fans are loyal, and their music absolutely rocks. Bands like Metallica have shown how wavering popularity can really be when it is not justified.

THAT is an effing cool image, J.D. The Halford montage. (I think that's the proper word, lol)
Anyway, my two cents on popularity: fuck that! Look at bands that "make it" big with the "popularity" thing-one example-Metallica. What the hell is going on with that "band"? There are tons of examples of bands that've hit huge peaks in popularity and then crashed and burned. Metal's not about popularity. Metal is about independence. Metal is a bunch of things, but popularity is mostly a side affect. A band that gets popular does so mostly on the basis of things done BEFORE that band got popular anyway.
On the flip side, in my opinion, a band that's gained huge amounts of fans shouldn't be looked down on for that simple fact. Iron Maiden's more popular with the kids for some reason, I can't explain it. When I heard Dickinson's voice, I had to get more albums. Same with Geoff Tate. For a long time, the classic rock station I grew up listening to would play about half of the songs off of Empire-possibly the most commercial and pop metal album ever. The same with Metallica's Black Album. I grew up with these albums, I loved hearing the songs, but these are the "accessable" albums from bands. Once hearing it, 50 listens later, does it stick? "Run to the Hills" is no match compared to "Still Life." Living After Midnight is a fun song, everyone likes it, everyone knows it, but what of Beyond the Realms of Death? Only a metal head, and more specifically a Priest fan would know and appreciate that song. Popularity has nothing to do with quality, shouldn't be used as a measuring stick in comparing bands.
Here's a funny thing. I had in my possession a tape of Screaming for Vengeance as a freshman in high school. Did I like it at the time? Nope! I was heavy into Scorpions, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Alice in Chains, and Metallica at the time. I heard You Got Another Thing Coming on the radio a zillion times, so I didn't really think anything of it. It wasn't until I was handed a copy of Priest's greatest hits as a Junior that my eyes were opened. What were the songs that "hooked" me? Number one? Turbo. LOL. It was the most unique song off that disc, and I'd never heard it before. A close number two was Metal Meltdown, which had that ripping beginning, Diamonds and Rust had a neat vibe to it, and The Green Manilishi also stuck with me. From there, l was a fan.

What a post. You've hit on something, Head banger.
We are who we are. Not only is our vision colored by our experiences, but also is everyone around's "exterior" colored by their own experiences. It is kind of difficult to see the "real" picture at times, but hey, this is life. It'd be boring otherwise. And if things aren't hard enough, there are those of us who don't know who we are, like you mention about the gay man who marries... Really is a bit to think about there. Is this the reason you're behind, HB?
Yeah, the switching of names that still goes on bothers me, and I think it's dumb to have all those puppet accounts-but who am I to say anything, really! It was fun, but in reality this kind of thing is destructive for the community that we have here...
Recently there were questions about how well one member knowing who another was.Really, how well do any of us know each other?I for example have met 2 board members, but do they really know me?I have 177 friends on the board, do they know me?Some better than others, but who really knows another member.Even in the “real” world people can be close to someone for years, but not know them. You read about people getting divorced after 20 years because the wife discovers the husband is gay.People discover for that they don’t know themselves, how can you know another.
A few years ago our good friend IMP discovered how to change his name to match another member. Now he did it just to be funny, I remember reading an exchange between DF and “DF” which was funny as all get out.Now we have JD. and J.D. which is not so funny, but at least it’s identifiable.People use different names to act like scumbags, but we can usually figure scumbags out.But even those we “know”, do we really know them?I have made over 20,000 posts on these boards, and god help you if you had to read them all, but does that lead you to know me?Ask 10 different members, you would get 10 different versions. You could hear that I am a nice guy, a hateful capitalistic bastard, a nature lover or an enviro hater who wants to pave the world, a family man, or some pervert posting in the thong thread.Which is right?None of them.Want to simplify it more?I could be a good person or a bad person.Which is it?Neither!I am who I am, nothing more.
The people we “know” are colored by our experiences. What can we do?Well, once we recognize that we cant “know” people here, our only option is to do the best we can.Which of course is what we were doing before. But the real question is, not who am I, but who are you?

Don Airey (I believe that's who was keys at the time), and Steve Morse are pretty damn impressive. It was the first time I heard Rapture of the Deep, which I believe was written with Morse. Had to get that CD after hearing it played live so well. The buildup for "Perfect Strangers" is still etched in my mind as the best live performance I'd experienced.

The show I went to just now had identical setlists. Judas Priest set list:

Living After Midnight
The Rage

The Ripper
Prophecy
Hell Patrol
Victim of Changes
---
Freewheel Burning
Diamonds and Rust
You've Got Another Thing Coming
To begin, Whitesnake opened up for the mighty Judas Priest. The show surpassed my expectations. Coverdale's high spirits were buyoed by the show of a pair albums, one of which was Slip of the Tongue, held up by a fan a few rows down from me. He really dug that and announced to us the 21st anniversary. Whitesnake kicked ass all night, a heavy sounding set and blazing guitar skills were on full display. This was my initiation to Whitesnake, aside from the few times I've heard them on the radio. I'll be getting some of their discs on my next trip to the CD shop.
Now onto Priest
I'd like to add that there were three "JP crosses" up on top of the stage, kind of looking down on the audience. The show started with a trippy atmosphere as the Birmingham (I believe that's the city on the curtain) skyline looking quite industrial, was emblazoned with a pair of laser images, super imposed, of millworkers smashing away at their hammers. Wow, never seen that before, what a neat concept.
The album, a real crackler on stereo, is presented here live, HEAVY as a freaking millstone, and as was stated before EXECUTED FLAWLESSLY. I cannot state in enough words how accurate and incredibly strong Halford's voice is on this tour. Quite honestly, this came as a total shock to me, as the live album, A Touch Of Evil-Live, just released weaks ago had disappointed me in the vocal department. While the British Steel album was executed flawlessly, the real challenge came afterward, in which Halford attempts to placate raving lunatic fans with some REAL OLD STUFF, starting with The Ripper. Holy mother of all that is evil!!! I missed the opening scream by a verse (LOL, yes I was embarrased!)-and got to hear Halford absolutely NAIL this one. Unbelievable. Everyone-be on notice-Halford is taking NO PRISONERS! The "tungsten tonsils" have ravaged us here in Orange County-so beware!
Onto the show-I have to say, I was impressed with the "energy" and "vibe" of the band, who played a show as if they had just come off releasing British Steal just this year. This ain't 1980-but they sure have the energy. The "brooding" and "stalking" Halford we got to know on the tour before has vanished. The dude walks around the stage confident as hell, crouching and looking down at times to scream that glorious scream, but is also engages the crowd more, and "moving" around more, even doing some victory laps in You Got Another Thing Coming, hehe. He just looks more bad ass by the day and year.
Ok, jeez, I'll try to keep the Halford worship at bay here, ha! In anycase, the "bored" look of Scott Travis I've heard some people complain about, to me just looks like concentration. While some of the material might not have been challenging for his set of skills, he smashed his kit with heart and intensity this night. Also, the drum sound at the show was superb. While Ian Hill and Scott Travis were laying the foundation and pouring on the heavy metal at their spots, KK and Glenn went roving the stage, ripping men apart with axes so deftly played. Grabbing a shot of KK with my camera proved to be a difficult task, as in the "zone" as he was, my camera could never quite catch up to him enough to take a decent shot. If the shot wasn't blurred, the hair would cover his face, but I got one anyway! Glen on the other hand was quite easy to capture, as I was on his side, but also because the passion of his style is more otherworldly, enjoying every note.
Finishing the show, after Freewheel Burning (a blistering rendition) and Victim of Changes (surprisingly well sung, especially considering the thrashing his voice had there!) was, of course, the classic You Got Another Thing Coming. I felt that if the PacAm's curfew wasn't so stringent, the band could have played another few songs with the way the crowd was revved up and ready to go.
The show was the best I'd ever seen JP perform. The energy emanated from the stage start to finish impressed me HEAVILY. I do believe word is getting 'round that the Priest is back, and with a vengeance, as I purchased a pair of tickets real close to the stage the DAY before the show. I was somewhat worried about the crowd attendance being that I got such good seats on short notice. However, the ampitheater was packed. I don't know how many seats the Pacific Ampitheater can hold, but it looked to my eyes that the Priest filled darn near every one of them.
Didn't mean to write a review, just wanted to share a few observations. I hope you don't mind Maple Syrup, I basically lifted much of the review you posted, phrases and structure... Great review though!

Here is a really awful picture of me and a pretty decent picture of Guid. Combine Rain and me looking like a geek in 90 percent of the pictures I take, and well you have this! HA!!
I made Guid go to the Nashville Parthenon, and actually go inside it, as I have seen the original parthenon and have always wanted to see it's half scale replica. This is what the Parthenon looked like before the turks hid artillery in it and lighting struck it and not only blew it up, but burned it all to Hell. Yet the orginal still stands through earthquakes and time as a testament to the superior engineering those that built it.
My main reason to want to see this place was to see the replica of the statue of Athena that originally stood in the middle of the Parthenon. Designed and built by Phedias, it was a huge statue of Athena clad in ivory and gold. How anything that large disappeared from history without a trace except the ancient discriptions of her, is beyond my comprehension.
OK, history class is over! LOL
I was going to try to sit on this thing but there was a big Hook on it's back, and I didn't want to stradle that! HA!!
Me sitting in front of the capitol of Nashville on the way to the show. The wallyworld bag on me contains ponchos for a rain we were expecting, but with 98% humidity what did it matter! LOL
Now, Guid has told everyone of my quest for Chucks at the mall, here is Guid's Shirne! We spent the same amount of time in this
Store that we spent on ALL my collective Chuck check outs! He talked like my sister in this store! Do I want to get this? Do you think I should get this! Should I get this one, or this one? HA!!! Guitars and tools turn men into complete shopaholics! LMAO!!!

Judas Priest- Well, I have zero complaints and Rob's Highs were longer and clearer. and the band seemed to be just having a blast. there was 5000 ish in a 8000 seat venue. and the crowd was really into the show, it was a "sing a long with the priest" . OK, finally getting around to my review of the show. STILL a bit hoarse from all the yelling but that is just fine..I can type! HAAAA!!!!!!!!
So, I mentioned PopEvil over in their Thread. Enough said about them, except that I remain VERY impressed with the honest and humble attitude they had. As for Whitesnake, it may be a bit unfair of me to try to review their effort as I am a Coverdale fan. I think he has done some amazing things in his career and managed to stay commercially viable even though he has drifted in and out of the music scene on a couple of occasions. He has never really "re-invented" himself..at least not to a noticable degree. He is as he was back in the 70's, a Plant clone that can sing and write very well. He always delivers as far as I am concerned and that is the mark of a true professional. (Granny screams be dammned...HAAAAAA!!!)
Now then, onto the Boys....What can I say?? Judas Priest continue to make it happen and do it the right way..ALL THESE years later! I am glad I had the opportunity to see them twice in less than a month. it was a chance to make a comparison and I was pleasantly surprised. Priest are the Gods. There is NO doubt about it. They are simply amazing. And at their age...I am in awe. Judas Priest sets the standard by which all others are measured. I believe with all my heart.
Glenn and KK are as tight as they have ever been, as far as I can tell. They have been together so long that they just know instinctively. It is a remarkable thing to witness, actually. Just amazing. Ian is such a great guy. He goes to his corner and there he stays. He is in the background doing EXACTLY what he is supposed to do, lay down a foundation with Scott. Those two are great at that. The beat is always dead-on. True professionals.
Rob. Our dear, beloved Rob. I was so happy to see him smiling and enjoying himself. A far cry (I think) from the Vegas show last year at the Palms. He seems genuinely happy. Of course, they are getting near the end of this tour and I can only imagine how badly he must want to get back to that quiet apartment by the ocean! Nonetheless, a brilliant performance! His screams are so cool. Not what they were thirty years ago as far as pitch but OH MAN!! When he lets loose it pierces your skull!!! Love the set list , too. I have NO complaints. They are delivering exactly what they said they would and I do not think they should make ANY changes! It all comes together very nicely.
All in all, a tremendous show. Absolutely incredible. I am SO glad they did this tour at this time. My step-son got to hear some "classic" Priest and THAT is truly special. Would love to catch ONE more show this year but I will settle for the two I did see and say, BRAVO. Well done, indeed. I did not go backstage. I did not get a picture with the Band or hang out by the buses for an autograph but I did get every single dollar's worth of what I spent!! I wonderful evening with THE world's greatest Heavy Metal act....ever,
Thanks for posting that interview Spiderpig, I was at that show in Costa Mesa!
Hey, cool guidogodoy, I'll keep that in mind. From that interview, it looks as if we're going to get a box set to play with!
About the show in Florida, Halford's got a lot going for him, for one he's not smoking and for another the shows are somewhat shorter. I think his voice can hold, he seems to have a lot more energy (to me anyway) these days, feeding off the crowds and such.
I'm kind of glad that they're not taking a "best of" the tour for the DVD, as I like the "completeness" of an entire show, warts and all. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Monday, August 10, 2009 11:42:53 AM)

I hate to sound like an ungrateful fan, but it seems that it'd be real bitchen to play a mini suite off of Nostradamus like Sands of Time/Persecution instead of Death or Prophecy like they're playing now. The build up from Sands to Persecution would be a real killer way to start a show, as opposed to Death, which just seems anti-climatic in a way (to my ears)... Prophecy being played live now-eh...not my favorite, and practically everyone I've talked to thought the chorus was pretty hilarious at first listen.
I think you're right about Halford having trouble at times, especially with Painkiller. However, he's strong as hell right now, only about a 70 minute set (only?!) and some days rest in between really make a difference in his performance. He's kicking ass right now. I encourage all of you metal heads on here to go to the shows. He's ripping good right now. He is hitting ALL of the notes. listen to the song painkiller from a touch of evil live, he struggles hitting the high notes, and his scream sounds weird before the solo, that was from 2005-2008. the chances of him hittin those notes in 10 years are very unlikely. hes an amazing singer, but age takes its tole eventually. and metal meltdown has some very high notes in it as well. and the opening to all guns blazing? he wont be able to do that in 10 years. im not tring to criticize him, if thats the way its coming off. im just saying he might not be able to do that night after night, touring also taes a tole on your voice.

Rob didn't struggle last night at Jones Beach Theater in New York at all. The British Steel tour is sounding GREAT. They played Hell Patrol from Painkiller to the tee, and Diamonds and Rust was rocked back up to the way they used to do it. Victim of Changes with all its high notes, He hit them all. GREAT SHOW!!!
