@Vail yeah 100% no way Glenn or Rob would allow Andy playing a solo on the album,no way so it's most likely Ritchie's solo. The 5 tracks in a row in the middle of the album are definitely Glenn's solos in there,it's his signature style.
But the rest is too hard to figure out because some of Ritchie's solo style has a little Glenn influence in there especially the 2nd half of the Firepower solo and especially the No Surrender solo sounds exactly what Glenn would of done,but not in a bad way,it's understanding being Ritchie had Glenn to learn from for the last 7 yesrs.
Glenn's 5 solos mentioned are incredible considering his Parkinson's. I wonder if he'll even be able to play on a next album. Idk,doesn't matter if they ever make another album. Budred I couldn't agree more. I like AOR but never have I ranked it past #6 all time in Priest's discography....but this Lp for me has to BEAT AOR knocking it down to #7 and with the new Lp at # 6....the 5 Lps I don't think they can top are Sad Wingd, British Steel, Screaming For Vengeance, DOTF and Painkiller. If they don't beat AOR then they are done right then and there for me man. I too will never be looking forwards to ANYTHING they do from here on out.
Its actually the most critical time now for them to DELIVER THE GOODS or hang em up.
And it is not only this Priest DVD.......it seems to be the tread of producers lately.....way too bad....once again stupid decisions so I will be buying less DVD's in the years to come.
Unfortunately it is like that throughout the DVD... a real shame because the concert itself is good, but the jump-cut editing makes the DVD not that desirable to watch.

So, as I posted earlier, I finally got my Single Cuts limited edition boxset. And. after some listening and generally going through the contents, I felt that a short review would be in order.
There's a lot of good sides in this boxset. Most importantly, many of the B-sides featured have never been released on a CD, or were only released on the out-of print release Priest, Live and Rare, which is not endorsed by the band. Also, the audio quality seems to be somewhat better than on the 2001 remasters. And I also like the idea to have the singles in sleeves that mimick the original single artworks, although it means that there is a whopping 20 CDs with only 2-4 tracks each. But it wasn't too much trouble for me to copy the CDs on my computer (both in WAV and mp3, mind you) and burn three CDs of my own that contain all of the tracks, except the duplicate versions of Evening Star, Starbreaker (live), United and Better by You Better Than Me.
However, there's also quite a few errors that decrease the overall score I'm going to give for this:
Liner notes/track listing:
Sin After Sin is named as the band's fourth album in the notes for the Better By You Better Than Me and Evening Star 7" singles, and BBYBTM and Invader are claimed to come from SAS as well.
Starbreaker, the B-side for Evening Star 7", is erroneusly claimed to be the studio version in the liner notes (the track list has it down correctly), however it's actually the same live version that also appears on the Take on the World 12".
The liner notes for the Take on the World 12" have Starbreaker and White Heat, Red Hot in the wrong order, and they also claim that the live version of White Heat is over seven minutes long (which is correct for Starbreaker, instead). The actual track listing has the correct order, though.
"Burnin' Up" is erroneusly listed as being part of the "Judas Priest Audio File".
Locked In 12" is listed as being released in May 1986 in both the liner notes and track listing, however this is impossible because the live tracks come from the May 23rd St. Louis concert (Desert Plains, ie. it's the same version as on the Point of Entry remaster) and June 20th (Freewheel Burning, recorded at The Omni, Atlanta and released on Priest...Live). Either the date is wrong or then they have wrong live tracks.
Artwork:
Take on the World and Living After Midnight are missing their distinctive artworks. Evening Star 12" could've used the picture LP artwork.
All of the 12" singles with artwork actually use the 7" artworks (Hot Rockin', Freewheel Burning, Some Heads Are Gonna Roll, Locked In, Painkiller, A Touch of Evil, Night Crawler).
Single contents:
The Freewheel Burning 12" is an oddity. Instead of having a version of Freewheel Burning with an extended intro and live versions of Breaking the Law and You've Got Another Thing Comin' (both from US Festival 1983) as it should have, it has the ordinary 7"/album version of Freewheel Burning, the live version of BTL from US Fest, and the studio album version of YGATC.
Live songs (not so much of an error by the producer, just some nit-picking):
The live tracks on the Hot Rockin' 12" (Breaking the Law and Living After Midnight) were recorded at Jaap Edenhal, Amsterdam, Holland on 14th February 1981 .
Exciter's live version, the B-side for YGATC, comes from Unleashed In the East.
As stated before, the Locked In 12" live tracks come from Kiel Auditorium, St. Louis, MO, 23rd May 1986 (Desert Plains, also featured on the Point of Entry remaster) and The Omni, Atlanta, GA, 20th June 1986 (Freewheel Burning, also featured on Priest...Live!).
The live version of You've Got Another Thing Comin' featured on the A Touch of Evil 12" comes from Priest...Live! and was recorded on 20th June 1986 at the Omni, Atlanta, GA.

Cannot say enough about the show last night in Jersey. Priest played flawlessly and my personal faves were: Blood Red Skies, Nightcrawler and Beyond the Realms. They are a well oiled machine 21 songs in all and what can you say except they brought it to the house last nite. Loved too when they did the Black Sabbath jam for about 2min. Also showed the old school Priest in them, in so many ways. Halford delivering on many highs and his mid range screams brought the roof down OMG. Richie is really blending in nicely with the band, and his solos were spot on. Tipton is still the master ripping and shredding the whole night. Ian was as steady as ever, the backbone of the rythym section with Scott. Great Pyro and Light Show too certainly brought this long-time Priest fan back to the old days and the set list kicked ass too. Full House &The sound was terrific with the double bass of scott travis pulsating all night. If you are on the fence I suggest you go and not miss this one. Thank you JP for a great show! MPleSyrp
Folks just because John is the sole member of the LLC that may have nothing to do with the "rights" of Halford's material.
It could just be a legal Company that was established for legal protection, but Halford most likely kept rights to many of his other Companies listes in the suit.
An LLC is set up for legal protection and some tax benefits - that can be very different that ownership of material.
At this point we don't know.
The fact the John is trying to "pierce the corporate veil" shows he is trying to prove that Halford and his other legal vehiles have becomed blurred in their separation.
On one of the final crowd shots we see the Ferris Wheel in the background from Victoria Park which is where the "High Voltage" festival was filmed this summer.
I remember that most bands were sellig live concert discs which could be picked up after the show that night. But Priest was not selling theirs. Hopefully we have the DVD coming as Glenn Mentioned in an interview!!!
Bing! Actual answer to my question was Missle Command. If you watch the vid, there IS somenone actually playing the game. It only appears in a couple of frames while Pole Position does, indeed, dominate the while vid itself.

A two and a half hour headline set would be a lot for any band, but for Judas Priest – it’s just not worth it. The density and passion of those at the front made for a pretty great gig, but the telltale signs of apathy were to be seen around the edges where scores of tired and hungry rockers were ignoring the music in favour of bratwurst and a sit-down.
Acting every bit the metal gods they are in music history, covered in as many spiked studs as can fit on an entire suit made of leather and sporting some natty head tattoos, frontman Rob Halford spiralled about the stage swishing his fringed arms at the crowd during newer song ‘I am Nostradamus’. The on stage flames and laser displays weren’t enough to make this the epic headline performance it should have been, despite the talent and sheer classic metal high regard in which they are held.
Halford screamed into the night “Are you ready for Judas Priest style heavy metal?” to which one sleeping metal-head lifted his hat to say ‘Nein’. Fans perked up for ‘Breaking The Law’ and arrival of the huge black motorbike on stage. Ending the show wearing German flag, Halford sang them out in style.
Some of the questions were contradictive in nature i.e.
"Would you prefer":
A) Previously unreleased material
B) Material from the past that has not be released
(I am parapharasing of course)

I only want concert tours/songs that are LIVE but rarely have (if ever) been recorded at a show and released.
Glenn had mentioned in an interview that there really is not much studio stuff that has not been released.

I will tell you why.
If some of the "bonus" materail that was released on the remasters was the "best" of the unreleased, then we are not missing much.

My first JP concert was in 1979 when they supported for AC/DC in Amsterdam. At that time I was 20 years of age. Yesterday I saw JP for the 10th time in Tilburg/Netherlands accompanied by my 16-year old daughter who is a huge fan and she received Glenn's plectrum after the show. I sure hope to see this great band more often.
Look I am NOT a fan of Idol, but HELL YEAH Priest has FINALLY made a decent marketing decision that puts them out in the eyes of the world to gain traction!!!!

Well, they continued on without Rob in the '90s and I personally think that Rob is the most popular member of the band. This is a group of 5 people. They will not always agree on everything. It's like a marriage or any other type of relationship - you must compromise. So I'm not buying this idea that everyone agreed on Nostradamus. Let's not forget, Ian Hill is also a founding member of Judas Priest. If Ian wants to continue without KK, then that is his right to do so, along with the other remaining members of the band. Obviously KK was the only one ready to retire which is his decision to make. The rest of the band is carrying on whether some people like it or not. I want a KICK ASS HEAVY METAL album!!! If they can't make one without KK, then I welcome new blood that will help deliver that to all the fans that still believe in Judas Priest. I'm sorry you feel the way that you do. I don't think it's Priest either without KK, just as it wasn't Priest without Rob. But they survived then and they will survive now.

I don't know where this idea that KK was to blame for Nostrodamus comes from, but whether or not the album was any good, rests on the shoulders of all 5 band members. If any one of them didn't like it, they could have spoken up. Also, it doesn't quite fit with the image of KK (and the content of his own website) to insist that they make an album that isn't "metal" or "Priest".
There's something not quite right about selling the tickets for the farewell tour in these circumstances and if I'd bought tickets, I'd be asking for my money back. JP have a long standing, poor record of dealing with their UK fans especially and the handling of this latest problem doesn't exactly cover anyone in glory.
The band need to be dignified and call an end to this now and walk away.

It is listed as "potential partial obstruction". The women at Civic Hall claims "if" the staging is not too elaborate they can be some of the best seats in the hall. Otherwise I am screwed and will have to walk to some other place.

Yes I agree Bev, I enjoyed reading this as well because it sums up exactly how I feel as well. Well done Tasnam! It seems some of us have gone through the grieving process quicker than others and gotten over our anger quickly while others may be stuck there for quite some time. I hope most fans can get to the acceptance phase before Priest comes to their town. But don't worry, they will come to the US, I'm just not sure if it will be this year or next year.

I've been digging through some really old cassettes and found some of my old Rob Halford-interviews.
One of them is from Swedish national radio 1984, a rock-show called Rockdepartementet, where Rob begins with "I'm 32 years old...". Talk about stepping into a time-machine...!
The next interview is an "as-is" interview from the Painkiller tour back in 1991. It's about 45 minutes and not even I have heard the whole thing since it was done!
I used to record everything so that I wouldn't forget what had been said when it was time to write my article. This particular interview was also aired on a small Swedish radio station, Radio MCB once - but only about 50% of the whole interview.
It's as exclusive as it gets for those who are collecting Halford-stuff. I can guarantee that you've never ever heard this one.

Most people post the set lists, and as I read through them I got lost because of the sheer volume of variety of opinions.
So as I said I will take a different tactic.
I love all of Judas Priest songs – even some of the more controversial ones!!!
So my recommendation would be to avoid the “more traditional” great classics.
(i.e. Metal Gods, Breaking the Law, Living After Midnight, The Ripper, You’ve Got Another Thing Coming, Victim of Changes, Turbo Lover, Dessert Plains, The Green Manalishi, Prophecy, Touch of evil, Beyond the Realms of Death, Hell Bent for Leather, I’m a Rocker, Diamonds and Rust, and a few others)
NOTE: ALL of the above songs are AWESOME.
But if you want to make this tour SPECIAL, change the set list to make it MEMORABLE!!
My reason for stating this, is because, we have the DVD’s and Videos of these great classics to watch over and over again already.
This is not to say these aren’t GREAT, but let’s get some new classics played this tour and when they video-tape this tour in Blu-Ray 1080p HD quality we can all watch new tracks.

Incredible. I think that you are spot-on with this post as I feel almost exactly the same way. Right down to the "diamonds in the sky" line. That phrase just sticks out like a sore thumb, doesn't it? Caught my attention right away.
While I also like the album as a whole, I do flip-flop about the lyrics as well. Some, along with the guitars and drums for that matter, are simply too predictable. While I like the guitars / solos in Made of Metal, I find myself counting how many times "Supersonic silver flying machine" is repeated. I'll have a count when I get some free time.
Don't get me wrong, I love the album as a whole (I can really get into most songs, even "I Know We Stand a Chance" has a catchy little riff) but can't help but wonder if the absence of Patrick Lachman had an effect here. Roy Z is certainly no match on guitar and, when I compare earlier Halford shows both by memory and DVD/CD, it is even more noticeable. The become timeless and of course push the popularity of the creator of the songs, long after the band is even alive.
As far as the lyrics, overall yes they seem a little superficial/simple in nature, I agree. For what ever reason that would be my most critical comment.
Overall I like the album so far and will listen to it even more now. I will like this album more over time. Now I give it a B+ maybe even soon an A- .

I think the album musically is GREAT. But, lyrically, it is just off; i can't explain it. I love Rob, he is the best on this planet. It just seems his song writing lost creativity a little.
Take Made of Metal. GREAT music in the background. Fair lyrics.
Matador, GREAT music and style. Lyrics are "just okay".
Made of Metal, GREAT musically. Lyrics I go back and forth on. (I feel like I am watch Disney's CARS!!!!)
Ect, ect, ect.
I really like Speed of Sound and the track after it Like there's no tomorrow (although "like diamonds in the sky" is a little cheesy), Hell Razor is just plain COOL.

I seem to ALWAYS Skip over Fire & Ice and Thunder and Lightning - I believe these were filler tracks for him.
Undisputed is good musically, but the fact it is about a boxer, just seems to rub me the wrong way. Almost like he was trying to hard to fit a song around an industry.

I thought the exact same thing. My problem is that over half of the CD has tracks like that. I do not like
that song and that is why I'm struggling with this album. 100 percent agree with Mower comment.

Agreed. I would rather they have an additional release in Blu-Ray.
Also I don't mind the blood/razor change, but wish they just put that new style on the inside as a bonus change, and kept the outside cover as traditional.
It appears that the Making of BS is the same as the show that is on VH1 -Correct?

I personally could get real mellow listening to Night comes down, Heads, HD/DOTF even sentinel. Not that the music doesn't have power - it does. It is just emotional. (Especially AFTER a few scotches ;-> )

It is simple about the money so most (if not even all) bands adapt and change to meet the demands of the business.
Example: (Note I am not in the business so these are my assumptions)
#1 Band makes first album sells 10,000 copies - no food to eat, hand to mouth
#2 Fronted $50,000 to make second album. Sell 100,000 copies - get money for booze, drugs, girls & food.
#3 Fronted $125,000 to make third album. Sell 500,000 copies - get first sports car, real apartment and more excesses.
#4 Fronted $250,000 to make forth album. Sell 1,000,000 copies. Buy house, Fararri and lots of girls.
#5 Fronted $500,000 to make fifth album. Sales Suck. sell only 450,000 copies. Indebted to record company even more.
HAVE to sell more albums to keep up with lifestyle and pay back fronte money.
Need money for excesses that they have become accustomed to.
#6 Company puts even MORE pressure on them to top the past sales and the band concedes.
They HAVe to; in order to keep up the pattern of growth.
#7 You know the rest of this story.....
This is the way of the REAL Music world.
You and I know that many bands start with the intent of putting music first but they get caught in the corporate trap.
In fact almost no way around it.

Re previous posting - joined a couple of weeks ago. Bought 2 audio cds from Amazon website (new, I don't buy second hand). Glenn Tipton's 'Edge of the World'
p.2006 and 'Baptism of Fire' reissue p. 2006. Delivered within 2 days. To my liking, money well spent, thanks.
I saw the show last night at Merriweather Post, here are some notes:
-The weather was bad as thunder storms were forecast; it did rain on and off and it was quite humid in the pavilion area. The Post holds about 17,000 and I would estimate the crowd to have been about 7-8,000; the pavilion was ¾ full and the lawn area about ¼ full. I know the weather had a negative influence on the attendance but the numbers were still strong.
-Popevil opened – I missed them
-Kix - opening again for JP as they did 30 years ago in Baltimore. The lead singer was very excited to be playing at Merriweather in front of a large and home crowd. The band drew a nice number of fans and they gave the band a good “pop”.The lead singer was very outgoing but a little juvenile; he repeatedly grabbed his crotch and made sexual remarks, which was a little weird coming from a guy who has to be pushing 60. I will give the guy credit for keeping in shape as he had zero body fat and looked like Iggy Pop.The band had some technical issues but it didn’t keep them rockin’ out. They played well and gave 100%, and the lead singer hasn’t lost any vocal range at all, has he even aged?
-JP – of course, the crowd was here to see JP and they let the boys know it as soon as they set foot on stage with loud cheers. Rob forgot the structure to the 1st song (Rapid Fire) and KK was looking around trying to get the band back in synch. Rob also appeared to be having some sort of problem as he had to leave the stage after every song. He would only re-appear when the lyrics started and after the song he would exit again. The band even took a short break right in the middle of their British Steel set; I wonder if Rob had some back problems which required rest or treatment throughout the show. Besides this, Rob sounded great and hit all the high notes with piercing clarity.KK took an ended solo during Victim of Changes and Glenn even teased the crowd during Victim as if he was going to do his solo. What can I say, the band was awesome, the crowd was wild and JP are the true masters! You can never go wrong seeing JP in concert!
Regarding the merch - shirt sales were strong, the most popular was the one with the British Steel logo on front w/ tour dates on back, all of the XXL and XL sizes were gone when I bought mine during Kix's set.

I was in section 201 right off of Glenn an out of the 1/2 full section (which is another problem) I was one of the few standing. everyone sat the whole time.
I think Glenn even got frustrated at a few points when his camera panned over to the 1/2 empty section.
Some other issues.....(Not fault of JP or FLL)
People did not know that JP was playing alone.
the arena was virtually 50% full at 15 minutes to show time.
If they Had not delyed the opening no one would be in the crowd scene. This was a result of Whitesnake and popeevil BOTH not playing tonight.
the guy next to me, like others assumed JP would go on at 9:00PM.
Guess what the show started at 8:12PM and i think that caught unsuspecting people by surprise. (which lead to a lack luster audience)
Same set list.
Eddie Truck and his two guys said a few words to open the show.
the guiters seemed to get more feedback when they started each song, more then the other shows.
Rob's voice was on par with SDSU show (IMO Toronto #1, Costa Mesa #2)

NOTE Scott was INTO this SHOW!!! he was going nuts compared to the comments I've read from others about his blank stare.
I do wish they would have extended the setlist for the DVD.
Rob did a lot of sing a longs where he hel the mic for the audience to sing the words for him.....not my preference.
we will see how much studio magic they pull off to make this a winner.
I saw 5 cameras (1 boom by KK, one way back, and three in the front. there could have been more, but i couldn't find them.
The security was asses. they would not lt anyone really move around - that is not fun.
