I haven't been on this site for years and would like to get updates when people post to threads....

Thanks for the help.

[tasnam1] Wednesday, October 02, 2013 2:41:15 PM

I fully agree with J.D. prior post.

This album is the defining moment for them and me.

I have stuck by them for decades and I am tired of the antics (for lack of a better word)

If the album does not delivery, I will no more be interested in the band going forward;

I am ready to move on.

I have NEVER felt this way, but this is the limit for me.  I just don't care anymore to support them if they can't change and deliver at this juncture.

A)   He is busy working on the album alone during these 5 days (my concerns are raised)

B)  He is not interested / can't be bothered to mingle with the fans for some "camp"

C)  Both A & B

[tasnam1] Sunday, June 30, 2013 7:06:44 AM

Challenge for you:

I remember in the 80's during the Fuel for Life tour, Hit Parader magazine (I think) showed a pic of Rob OUT of his Fuel for Life costume garb.

It read i.e. Rob had fallen into the audience and the crowd ripped his outfit to shreds.  So he had to wear regular clothes for this show.

I remember he was wearing a Stetson Cowboy hat for the show!!!!!

Anyone have those pictures from that show?

That would be cool to see those shots from that specific show.

Think Heavy Metal Lady Gaga crossed with Manson with a spray of a pop sex look like Kei$ha.

The story IS:

#1   Support DRUMMER (not guitarist) on Turbo - you can check out the drummers website and letter http://www.jonathanvalen.com/judas.html
(Could this ALL be a lie?   Sure, but why go to this extent and open yourself up to a lawsuit?)

#2  KK (Not Dave) said regarding drums on RID:
Question:  "How much drumming did Dave do on RID?"
Answer: "Not a Lot; and let's just leave it at that."

#3  Memphis is Live. Period.
Did they touch it up?  Sure.  Like most live concerts
Halford has been transparent on his solo stuff - "studio magic" to spice up the show.

#4  YES on RITE you can see ROb using the teley often.

Nupe is quite correct.

When you play a song "live" you do not have to pay royalties as you are simple playing your "interpretation" of the original song, but alas not that actual song recording itself.

Once you play the actual recording, then people want their share because you are broadcasting the original recording.

(It gets complicated and I am by no means an expert in the industry, I just know some people who have written and recorded their own material and explained it to me)

Folks just because John is the sole member of the LLC that may have nothing to do with the "rights" of Halford's material.

It could just be a legal Company that was established for legal protection, but Halford most likely kept rights to many of his other Companies listes in the suit.

An LLC is set up for legal protection and some tax benefits - that can be very different that ownership of material.

At this point we don't know.

The fact the John is trying to "pierce the corporate veil" shows he is trying to prove that Halford and his other legal vehiles have becomed blurred in their separation.

Sorry to hear this...

A two and a half hour headline set would be a lot for any band, but for Judas Priest – it’s just not worth it. The density and passion of those at the front made for a pretty great gig, but the telltale signs of apathy were to be seen around the edges where scores of tired and hungry rockers were ignoring the music in favour of bratwurst and a sit-down.

Acting every bit the metal gods they are in music history, covered in as many spiked studs as can fit on an entire suit made of leather and sporting some natty head tattoos, frontman Rob Halford spiralled about the stage swishing his fringed arms at the crowd during newer song ‘I am Nostradamus’. The on stage flames and laser displays weren’t enough to make this the epic headline performance it should have been, despite the talent and sheer classic metal high regard in which they are held.

Halford screamed into the night “Are you ready for Judas Priest style heavy metal?” to which one sleeping metal-head lifted his hat to say ‘Nein’. Fans perked up for ‘Breaking The Law’ and arrival of the huge black motorbike on stage. Ending the show wearing German flag, Halford sang them out in style.

Judas Priest played a great set, for Judas Priest fans. For everyone else, it paled in comparison to Ozzy’s previous nights’ performance.

[tasnam1] Wednesday, July 13, 2011 5:57:12 PM

Some of the questions were contradictive in nature i.e.

"Would you prefer":

A) Previously unreleased material
B) Material from the past that has not be released

(I am parapharasing of course)

You had to decide which was the better of the two.

Personally I DO NOT WANT MORE BTL-LAM-YGATC in live versions

I only want concert tours/songs that are LIVE but rarely have (if ever) been recorded at a show and released.

Glenn had mentioned in an interview that there really is not much studio stuff that has not been released.

I believe him.
I will tell you why.

If some of the "bonus" materail that was released on the remasters was the "best" of the unreleased, then we are not missing much.

We have not agreed on much over the years but nice find.

KK is NOT the most popular member of the band.

And you are making it seem as if the band is going to fail with out him.

Thank you for the comments HRMG & AuntieB!!!
Nice to have some postive feedback in this turbulent time with Priest.

I am flying over to see them 2x...along with some other stuff i have planned...

I picked Wolverhampton for a reason.....Here is what I also believe will happen.  (Hope, hope, Hope)

Wolverhampton is basically their back yard....if things settle down a bit by then, maybe KK will be honored with a guest appearance onstage that night.

Let's see if that happens.

Feed back requested:

I am in Section:  Right Balcony Row B

It is listed as "potential partial obstruction".  The women at Civic Hall claims "if" the staging is not too elaborate they can be some of the best seats in the hall.  Otherwise I am screwed and will have to walk to some other place.
So I took a chance.

I like being on Glenn's side and this tour specifically I don't want to be Left stage!  (Sorry Richie!  I do wish you the best though!)

Anyone have experience at this location and Right hand side Balcony Row B?

Thanks

My thought process went like this:

Phase one:
Denial and disbelief - I can't beleive this is true!  No it is just a spat...the will get over it.

Phase two:
Reisistance - This will rip the band apart, it can't work, this tour will flop and I can't stand to watch it!

Phase three:
Acceptance - OK well this has happened to them and other bands before, and many have survived (and many have not), but they still are going to tour.  I do agree a guitarist is less noticable than a lead singer in a band.
You know Scott Travis came and somehow Painkiller become one of their best releases will new found energy.  Why couldn't the sme be true with this new guy?

Phase four:
Commitmment - I will go see them!!!  I am going to support my favorite band like I support my favorite team even though they also have team line up changes!!!!!!
Just bought my tickets to Wolverhampton on Friday!!!!  I believe a new guitarist will add to the fresh sound to future albums.
I am committed to seeing them this last tour.  Who knows after this Glenn and/or Rob could retire and the band could continue.  (I do not know if I would support the band then/but maybe I would - don't know)
But one thing I do know, I would feel miserable if I did not go see them this last time, then the end for good!!!

I am committed - tickets in hand.  Let's go new guy, make us ALL RE-committed!

KK Thank you for everything!

I have to agree with JimmyJames,  Priest has tons of gay "under-tones" (or is it over-tones?) in al LOT of their songs.

TRUE they are written for both sexes, but with a "slant" toward the gay preference.

Not sure about Starbreak.....though it would surprise me.

TONS of songs, just read the lyrics while listening and pretend you are Rob writing.

Daniela,

I have a great interview that is a "panel" discussion of the 5 band members from 1986 during Fuel Foe Life Tour.

They answer 20 questions from an audience.

If I can upload it from the VHS tape I will email you.

Glenn mentions if he was not in a band he would be a gynecologist.

(Wonder if he took that idea from Alex Van Halen at the end of the Hot For Teacher Video?)

PLEASE PEOPLE we have most of these same songs on DVD from:

Brisitsh Steel 30th
Electric Eye
Two Ripper albums
Priest Live
Vengeance Live 82.

(and they are all great)

Let's request Songs that we do not have on DVD.
You know they will video tape the shows do we really need another Turbo, YGATC, or Living After Midnight played live?!?!?!?!?

Please request songs never played like:

Reckless, Hard as Iron, Demonizer, Persecution, Pain & Pleasure, White Heat Red Hot ect.....

Let's get these on DVD - remember this is the start of their final days as JP on tour!!!
TOPIC: EPITAPH Tour Setlist requests
[tasnam1] Tuesday, February 15, 2011 8:59:51 PM

I know I will get a LOT of flak for this but……
….I am going to take a different tactic.

Most people post the set lists, and as I read through them I got lost because of the sheer volume of variety of opinions.

So as I said I will take a different tactic.
I love all of Judas Priest songs – even some of the more controversial ones!!!

So my recommendation would be to avoid the “more traditional” great classics
(i.e. Metal Gods, Breaking the Law, Living After Midnight, The Ripper, You’ve Got Another Thing Coming, Victim of Changes, Turbo Lover, Dessert Plains, The Green Manalishi, Prophecy, Touch of evil, Beyond the Realms of Death, Hell Bent for Leather, I’m a Rocker, Diamonds and Rust, and a few others)
NOTE: ALL of the above songs are AWESOME.

But if you want to make this tour SPECIAL, change the set list to make it MEMORABLE!!

My reason for stating this, is because, we have the DVD’s and Videos of these great classics to watch over and over again already.
This is not to say these aren’t GREAT, but let’s get some new classics played this tour and when they video-tape this tour in Blu-Ray 1080p HD quality we can all watch new tracks.

We need the following on DVD & Audio* :
Cheater
Tyrant*
StarBreaker* (Yes with Extended Drum intro by Scott)
White Heat, Red Hot
Delivering the Goods* or Before the Dawn (Both!!)
NOTE: Since all of BS is on DVD and Audio as of last year, why not skip in place for another track
Don’t’ Go (would be a great "groovy sounding" track like The Rage was Live)
Pain and Pleasure (Freakin great under-rated track!!!!)
Heavy Duty/DOTF* (Great ending track for crowd to chant)
Reckless (It is obvious to almost everyone THIS ONE MUST BE PLAYED. IF you don’t play this it would seem you are not listening to us…with all due respect to the gods of metal themselves)
MUST PLAY RECKLESS GUYS!!!
I would pay $100USD just to see that one song live!!!  Seriously I would!

Hard as Iron or Blood Red Skies (read above comments about this one too)
One shot at Glory (Again same applies to this track)
I assume you will skip Jugulator (Burn in Hell)
I assume you will skip Demolition (Close to you)
Demonizer
Persecution or Alone

 * Yes, I am aware that these songs are Live on Unleashed in the East and in the Metalogy box set, but not video taped in 1080p for a DVD release.

Thanks guidogodoy - we seem to think alike.

Heartless seems to have "soul", and is a MUCH better Heart of a Lion.  Although the name is almost cheesy.

Heartless, Fire and Ice, Thunder and Lightnight - Sound like I and reading off an 80's record.

Heartless - "walking the streets now baby" ?????  Rob can do better than that

Thunder and lightning after the guitar intro listen to it and then listen to Bon Jovi - You give Love a bad name intro.

Anyhow these are the thoughts.

Not saying I dislike the album.

Thanks for the comments Budred.

I also forgot to add to my original post the following:

Matador is also another "anthem Theme" -

After listening to the album for another two days some fine tuning thoughts:

I think the album musically is GREAT.  But, lyrically, it is just off; i can't explain it.  I love Rob, he is the best on this planet.  It just seems his song writing lost creativity a little.

Take Made of Metal.  GREAT music in the background.  Fair lyrics.

Matador,  GREAT music and style.  Lyrics are "just okay".
Made of Metal, GREAT musically.  Lyrics I go back and forth on.  (I feel like I am watch Disney's CARS!!!!)

Ect, ect, ect.

I really like Speed of Sound and the track after it Like there's no tomorrow (although "like diamonds in the sky" is a little cheesy), Hell Razor is just plain COOL.
Of course Mower.

I seem to ALWAYS Skip over Fire & Ice and Thunder and Lightning - I believe these were filler tracks for him.

Undisputed is good musically, but the fact it is about a boxer, just seems to rub me the wrong way.  Almost like he was trying to hard to fit a song around an industry.

Undisputed
Made of Metal
Matador

These songs just "seem" like he was trying to hard to fit the "events" around these lyrics.

If they become great anthems.  I will be the first to admit it worked.

I don't post much, but here is my take on H4.

First of all I will preface my comments with the fact that I am a Halford/Fight and of course Priest fan through and through - so my comments are not negative, just analytical in nature.

The Mower song itself is worth the whole album - exceptional in everyway.
I like Speed of sound.
Hell Razor sounds like Stained Class/Sad wind era, which is cool - nice work.

Heartless is like a 2010 remake of 1986 Heart of a Lion, but much better - (now I can stop listening to HOAL (which was tough) and replace it with Heartless)

Made on Metal and Matador - I my opinion - are just ok tracks musically.  My belief, challenge me if you want, is that Rob is trying to create an anthem style song to be play at Nascar and Bullfighting arenas.  He is a reasonalby smart marketing guy from a 60 yeear old metal bands point of view.  Think Gary Glitter (pedophile), and other rock anthems at sports events.  The become timeless and of course push the popularity of the creator of the songs, long after the band is even alive.

As far as the lyrics, overall yes they seem a little superficial/simple in nature, I agree.  For what ever reason that would be my most critical comment.

Overall I like the album so far and will listen to it even more now.  I will like this album more over time.  Now I give it a B+ maybe even soon an A- .

But again Mower is worth the album.  I would pay $15.00 for that one song.  And I mean that.  I feel it is that good; even a challenger for Painkiller!

Thoughts?

Spapad,

Not sure if your post was in response to my question or the question regarding Crazy Bob.

But if it was mine, I actually do not remember the article, but his comment stuck with me.

I believe it makes sense.

That was right around the time Rob quit chemicals (per se).  I LOVE DOTF.  But I does have "kind" of a depressing theme.

I personally could get real mellow listening to Night comes down, Heads, HD/DOTF even sentinel.  Not that the music doesn't have power - it does.  It is just emotional. (Especially AFTER a few scotches ;-> )

So I think that Ian could feel that way.

Ian Hill said this right after finishing the "Defender's of the Faith" tour regarding the album.

BTW - This Outlook/view from Ian and IF shared by the rest of the band, (and what ever chemicals they may have been involved in), could have been an influence as to why Turbo was so "UPPY" in content.

As I said in my post.  "It is about the money".  which is the reasons why these bands change.

I never said I agreed or supported it.

It is simple about the money so most (if not even all) bands adapt and change to meet the demands of the business.

Example:  (Note I am not in the business so these are my assumptions)

#1  Band makes first album sells 10,000 copies - no food to eat, hand to mouth
#2 Fronted $50,000 to make second album.  Sell 100,000 copies - get money for booze, drugs, girls & food.

#3 Fronted $125,000 to make third album.  Sell 500,000 copies - get first sports car, real apartment and more excesses.

#4 Fronted $250,000 to make forth album.  Sell 1,000,000 copies.  Buy house, Fararri and lots of girls.

#5 Fronted $500,000 to make fifth album. Sales Suck.  sell only 450,000 copies.  Indebted to record company even more.
HAVE to sell more albums to keep up with lifestyle and pay back fronte money.

Need money for excesses that they have become accustomed to.

#6 Company puts even MORE pressure on them to top the past sales and the band concedes.
They HAVe to; in order to keep up the pattern of growth.

#7 You know the rest of this story.....

This is the way of the REAL Music world.
You and I know that many bands start with the intent of putting music first but they get caught in the corporate trap.

In fact almost no way around it.

IT IS A BUSINESS!

BTW - I have had a few scotches tonight so sorry for typos........Cheers!

The NEW DVD will be a little bit of a let down because of .....NOT JP they showed up and did pretty well.....the crowd in FLL SUCKED!!!!!!!!!

That's right - sorry FL I know i am making some enemies, but you guys were the worst...soo.boring!!!!

This is my 4th JP show THIS TOUR!

FYI - July 9th Toronto, Aug 5th SDSU, Aug 6th Costa Mesa, Aug 17th FLL.

The other crowds were loud, crazy, sang out loud, and for GOD's SAKE stood up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I was in section 201 right off of Glenn an out of the 1/2 full section (which is another problem) I was one of the few standing.  everyone sat the whole time.

I think Glenn even got frustrated at a few points when his camera panned over to the 1/2 empty section.

Some other issues.....(Not fault of JP or FLL)

People did not know that JP was playing alone.

the arena was virtually 50% full at 15 minutes to show time.

If they Had not delyed the opening no one would be in the crowd scene.   This was a result of Whitesnake and popeevil BOTH not playing tonight.
the guy next to me, like others assumed JP would go on at 9:00PM.

Guess what the show started at 8:12PM and i think that caught unsuspecting people by surprise. (which lead to a lack luster audience)

Same set list.
Eddie Truck and his two guys said a few words to open the show.
the guiters seemed to get more feedback when they started each song, more then the other shows.
Rob's voice was on par with SDSU show (IMO Toronto #1, Costa Mesa #2)
Glenn a little off like the SDSU show
NOTE Scott was INTO this SHOW!!! he was going nuts compared to the comments I've read from others about his blank stare.

I do wish they would have extended the setlist for  the DVD.

Rob did a lot of sing a longs where he hel the mic for the audience to sing the words for him.....not my preference.

we will see how much studio magic they pull off to make this a winner.

I saw 5 cameras (1 boom by KK, one way back, and three in the front.  there could have been more, but i couldn't find them.

The security was asses.  they would not lt anyone really move around - that is not fun.

I have a question about the song off Demolition:   Close To You

I read one time the Glenn's dad was quite ill and sadly passed away.
After listening to this song I seems like it would make sense that he wrote this for his dad - a very emotional and touching song.

Then at the Priest show this past week, when talking with some folks, someone mentioned that Glenn lost his wife in death (rumor perhaps?) and the song was written as a memory to her.
(Then someone else mentioned that he divorced her three years ago)

Does anyone know the true story (or stories)?

I know this is a very dumb question but I will ask it anyways.....

Do you think BOTH KK & Glenn can read music notes?

I am NOT a musician, but I have read many famous musicians can only play based on sound and not by reading notes.

After watching this video I just wondered why after demonstrating the cords of the songs Glenn did not say "so to play BTL press note A, B, C G-flat and repeat"? (or something like that)

(Obviously from my Mickey Mouse notes above you can tel I do not know what I am talking about)

Totally agree.

But why then was Ian Hill present?

I think it is because he is part of the "corporation" you mention.
