@Vail yeah 100% no way Glenn or Rob would allow Andy playing a solo on the album,no way so it's most likely Ritchie's solo. The 5 tracks in a row in the middle of the album are definitely Glenn's solos in there,it's his signature style.
But the rest is too hard to figure out because some of Ritchie's solo style has a little Glenn influence in there especially the 2nd half of the Firepower solo and especially the No Surrender solo sounds exactly what Glenn would of done, but not in a bad way,it's understanding being Ritchie had Glenn to learn from for the last 7 yesrs.
Glenn's 5 solos mentioned are incredible considering his Parkinson's. I wonder if he'll even be able to play on a next album. Idk,doesn't matter if they ever make another album. Firepower Redeemer Of Souls and Angel Of Retribution are 3 elite albums we have so I'm just Glad we even get to have an incredible album in 2018. Edited at: Saturday, July 28, 2018 11:25:54 PM
Also it is better then the first two clips.... so far the GOOD news is each clip has gotten better than the first....let's hope the trend continues.....
Budred I couldn't agree more. I like AOR but never have I ranked it past #6 all time in Priest's discography....but this Lp for me has to BEAT AOR knocking it down to #7 and with the new Lp at # 6....the 5 Lps I don't think they can top are Sad Wingd, British Steel, Screaming For Vengeance, DOTF and Painkiller. If they don't beat AOR then they are done right then and there for me man. I too will never be looking forwards to ANYTHING they do from here on out.
Its actually the most critical time now for them to DELIVER THE GOODS or hang em up.
And it is not only this Priest DVD.......it seems to be the tread of producers lately.....way too bad....once again stupid decisions so I will be buying less DVD's in the years to come.
Unfortunately it is like that throughout the DVD... a real shame because the concert itself is good, but the jump-cut editing makes the DVD not that desirable to watch.

Every half a second they were changing camera's and camera angles and none of it was smooth at all. Too jumpy for me and annoying. Someone please tell me the whole DVD isn't like this. I would rather have kept my twenty bucks if so.
Yeah I always liked reading "behind the scenes" stuff like that.

Sorry but Rob now-a-days reads most of his lyrics and remembers only a few songs.....and of course NOS would have to read 85-90%(guess) of them. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Pepe2 from Wednesday, October 03, 2012 12:21:41 PM)

That's a good point because some singers actually do that, read the lyrics while singing, or at least keep an eye on the lyrics in case they forget something. But Rob? No I don't think so, he writes his own lyrics and somehow I just think he remembers every word in both old & new songs.
But If they would ever perform the whole Nostradamus in concert, then maybe Rob would need some help with the lyrics. And I would like to see that by the way, Nostradamus is a heavy metal opera and it should be performed live at least once. Like most fans I like British steel more than Nostradamus, but I still think that hearing the whole thing live would be awesome.
When you play a song "live" you do not have to pay royalties as you are simple playing your "interpretation" of the original song, but alas not that actual song recording itself.
Once you play the actual recording, then people want their share because you are broadcasting the original recording.
(It gets complicated and I am by no means an expert in the industry, I just know some people who have written and recorded their own material and explained it to me) [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Nupe The Ripper from Saturday, September 15, 2012 4:04:58 AM)

They wouldn't have to pay Gull Records a single buck even if their setlist consisted entirely of RR and SWoD material. The rights to the songs themselves still reside with the Priest members (and ex-members) involved in the original compositions. However, the rights to the LPs (and any reproductions of them) reside with Gull Records, along with any demo recordings made during that era. It's a somewhat complicated legal matter and I don't know how to explain it better.
I wish Gull Records would some day be actually useful and release other demos as well besides the early version of Diamonds and Rust you can find on pretty much every reissue of Rocka Rolla.
Now I don't know what they did to get RR and SWoD included on the Complete Albums Collection; did Sony Music just license them (like they did for a couple of songs on Metalogy) or are the rights permenently transferred to Judas Priest?

Or
it is the Saab 2000 with 50 seats - more likely based on its size in the picture.
I too would be very interested in their names, but ALSO their ROLES....
Out of curiosity, who can name anyone (besides the band) in the picture they just posted of them in front of their plane? (of course, click the photo to enlarge it).

So, as I posted earlier, I finally got my Single Cuts limited edition boxset. And. after some listening and generally going through the contents, I felt that a short review would be in order.
There's a lot of good sides in this boxset. Most importantly, many of the B-sides featured have never been released on a CD, or were only released on the out-of print release Priest, Live and Rare, which is not endorsed by the band. Also, the audio quality seems to be somewhat better than on the 2001 remasters. And I also like the idea to have the singles in sleeves that mimick the original single artworks, although it means that there is a whopping 20 CDs with only 2-4 tracks each. But it wasn't too much trouble for me to copy the CDs on my computer (both in WAV and mp3, mind you) and burn three CDs of my own that contain all of the tracks, except the duplicate versions of Evening Star, Starbreaker (live), United and Better by You Better Than Me.
However, there's also quite a few errors that decrease the overall score I'm going to give for this:
Liner notes/track listing:
Sin After Sin is named as the band's fourth album in the notes for the Better By You Better Than Me and Evening Star 7" singles, and BBYBTM and Invader are claimed to come from SAS as well.
Starbreaker, the B-side for Evening Star 7", is erroneusly claimed to be the studio version in the liner notes (the track list has it down correctly), however it's actually the same live version that also appears on the Take on the World 12".
The liner notes for the Take on the World 12" have Starbreaker and White Heat, Red Hot in the wrong order, and they also claim that the live version of White Heat is over seven minutes long (which is correct for Starbreaker, instead). The actual track listing has the correct order, though.
"Burnin' Up" is erroneusly listed as being part of the "Judas Priest Audio File".
Locked In 12" is listed as being released in May 1986 in both the liner notes and track listing, however this is impossible because the live tracks come from the May 23rd St. Louis concert (Desert Plains, ie. it's the same version as on the Point of Entry remaster) and June 20th (Freewheel Burning, recorded at The Omni, Atlanta and released on Priest...Live). Either the date is wrong or then they have wrong live tracks.
Artwork:
Take on the World and Living After Midnight are missing their distinctive artworks. Evening Star 12" could've used the picture LP artwork.
All of the 12" singles with artwork actually use the 7" artworks (Hot Rockin', Freewheel Burning, Some Heads Are Gonna Roll, Locked In, Painkiller, A Touch of Evil, Night Crawler).
Single contents:
The Freewheel Burning 12" is an oddity. Instead of having a version of Freewheel Burning with an extended intro and live versions of Breaking the Law and You've Got Another Thing Comin' (both from US Festival 1983) as it should have, it has the ordinary 7"/album version of Freewheel Burning, the live version of BTL from US Fest, and the studio album version of YGATC.
Live songs (not so much of an error by the producer, just some nit-picking):
The live tracks on the Hot Rockin' 12" (Breaking the Law and Living After Midnight) were recorded at Jaap Edenhal, Amsterdam, Holland on 14th February 1981 .
Exciter's live version, the B-side for YGATC, comes from Unleashed In the East.
As stated before, the Locked In 12" live tracks come from Kiel Auditorium, St. Louis, MO, 23rd May 1986 (Desert Plains, also featured on the Point of Entry remaster) and The Omni, Atlanta, GA, 20th June 1986 (Freewheel Burning, also featured on Priest...Live!).
The live version of You've Got Another Thing Comin' featured on the A Touch of Evil 12" comes from Priest...Live! and was recorded on 20th June 1986 at the Omni, Atlanta, GA.
The live versions of Breaking the Law and Living After Midnight featured on the Night Crawler 12" come from Priest...Live! and were recorded on 20th June 1986 at the Omni, Atlanta, GA.
All in all, despite of being much use to any Priest collector who doesn't want to collect all singles on vinyl, the rather amateurish errors reduce the overall score. I'm going to give it 3 out of 5. Edited at: Saturday, March 17, 2012 4:30:47 PM

Cannot say enough about the show last night in Jersey. Priest played flawlessly and my personal faves were: Blood Red Skies, Nightcrawler and Beyond the Realms. They are a well oiled machine 21 songs in all and what can you say except they brought it to the house last nite. Loved too when they did the Black Sabbath jam for about 2min. Also showed the old school Priest in them, in so many ways. Halford delivering on many highs and his mid range screams brought the roof down OMG. Richie is really blending in nicely with the band, and his solos were spot on. Tipton is still the master ripping and shredding the whole night. Ian was as steady as ever, the backbone of the rythym section with Scott. Great Pyro and Light Show too certainly brought this long-time Priest fan back to the old days and the set list kicked ass too. Full House &The sound was terrific with the double bass of scott travis pulsating all night. If you are on the fence I suggest you go and not miss this one. Thank you JP for a great show! MPleSyrp
Folks just because John is the sole member of the LLC that may have nothing to do with the "rights" of Halford's material.
It could just be a legal Company that was established for legal protection, but Halford most likely kept rights to many of his other Companies listes in the suit.
An LLC is set up for legal protection and some tax benefits - that can be very different that ownership of material.
At this point we don't know.
The fact the John is trying to "pierce the corporate veil" shows he is trying to prove that Halford and his other legal vehiles have becomed blurred in their separation.
On one of the final crowd shots we see the Ferris Wheel in the background from Victoria Park which is where the "High Voltage" festival was filmed this summer.
I remember that most bands were sellig live concert discs which could be picked up after the show that night. But Priest was not selling theirs. Hopefully we have the DVD coming as Glenn Mentioned in an interview!!!

Legendary midland metallers fail to follow in the footsteps of fellow Birmingham metal-god, Ozzy.
A two and a half hour headline set would be a lot for any band, but for Judas Priest – it’s just not worth it. The density and passion of those at the front made for a pretty great gig, but the telltale signs of apathy were to be seen around the edges where scores of tired and hungry rockers were ignoring the music in favour of bratwurst and a sit-down.
Acting every bit the metal gods they are in music history, covered in as many spiked studs as can fit on an entire suit made of leather and sporting some natty head tattoos, frontman Rob Halford spiralled about the stage swishing his fringed arms at the crowd during newer song ‘I am Nostradamus’. The on stage flames and laser displays weren’t enough to make this the epic headline performance it should have been, despite the talent and sheer classic metal high regard in which they are held.
Halford screamed into the night “Are you ready for Judas Priest style heavy metal?” to which one sleeping metal-head lifted his hat to say ‘Nein’. Fans perked up for ‘Breaking The Law’ and arrival of the huge black motorbike on stage. Ending the show wearing German flag, Halford sang them out in style.
Some of the questions were contradictive in nature i.e.
"Would you prefer":
A) Previously unreleased material
B) Material from the past that has not be released
(I am parapharasing of course)
You had to decide which was the better of the two.
Personally I DO NOT WANT MORE BTL-LAM-YGATC in live versions
I only want concert tours/songs that are LIVE but rarely have (if ever) been recorded at a show and released.
Glenn had mentioned in an interview that there really is not much studio stuff that has not been released.
I believe him.
I will tell you why.
If some of the "bonus" materail that was released on the remasters was the "best" of the unreleased, then we are not missing much.

My first JP concert was in 1979 when they supported for AC/DC in Amsterdam. At that time I was 20 years of age. Yesterday I saw JP for the 10th time in Tilburg/Netherlands accompanied by my 16-year old daughter who is a huge fan and she received Glenn's plectrum after the show. Also, I think we both agree that new "blood" will be good for the band (Not they we want KK gone) and supporting the band this last round to see what comes of it might be quite rewarding.
Scott was a nice infusion of fresh air.
Let's see.
I will be going to see them several times and am proud to support them for this next album and year.
Roberto Savegnago "Redeemer" from Italy.... Best cover of Victim Of Changes you will ever hear, god damn this is so good its unreal! This totally spanks Ripper Owens big time!!!
Well, they continued on without Rob in the '90s and I personally think that Rob is the most popular member of the band. This is a group of 5 people. They will not always agree on everything. It's like a marriage or any other type of relationship - you must compromise. So I'm not buying this idea that everyone agreed on Nostradamus. Let's not forget, Ian Hill is also a founding member of Judas Priest. If Ian wants to continue without KK, then that is his right to do so, along with the other remaining members of the band. Obviously KK was the only one ready to retire which is his decision to make. The rest of the band is carrying on whether some people like it or not. I want a KICK ASS HEAVY METAL album!!! If they can't make one without KK, then I welcome new blood that will help deliver that to all the fans that still believe in Judas Priest. I'm sorry you feel the way that you do. I don't think it's Priest either without KK, just as it wasn't Priest without Rob. But they survived then and they will survive now.

For what it's worth, I don't think carrying on without KK is a good idea, he's a founder member of the band and also probably the most popular.
I'd managed to talk quite a few people into seeing Priest one last time, and these are friends who had seen the band numerous times throughout the late 70s and early 80s.
However, when the news about KK broke, not one of them still wanted to go. We'd held back from buying our tickets until the end of this month and looks like we've saved some money.
I don't know where this idea that KK was to blame for Nostrodamus comes from, but whether or not the album was any good, rests on the shoulders of all 5 band members. If any one of them didn't like it, they could have spoken up. Also, it doesn't quite fit with the image of KK (and the content of his own website) to insist that they make an album that isn't "metal" or "Priest".
There's something not quite right about selling the tickets for the farewell tour in these circumstances and if I'd bought tickets, I'd be asking for my money back. JP have a long standing, poor record of dealing with their UK fans especially and the handling of this latest problem doesn't exactly cover anyone in glory.
The band need to be dignified and call an end to this now and walk away.
Thank you for the comments HRMG & AuntieB!!!

Wolverhampton is basically their back yard....if things settle down a bit by then, maybe KK will be honored with a guest appearance onstage that night.
Let's see if that happens.
Feed back requested:
I am in Section: Right Balcony Row B
It is listed as "potential partial obstruction". The women at Civic Hall claims "if" the staging is not too elaborate they can be some of the best seats in the hall. Otherwise I am screwed and will have to walk to some other place.
So I took a chance.
I like being on Glenn's side and this tour specifically I don't want to be Left stage! (Sorry Richie! I do wish you the best though!)
Anyone have experience at this location and Right hand side Balcony Row B?
Yes I agree Bev, I enjoyed reading this as well because it sums up exactly how I feel as well. Well done Tasnam! It seems some of us have gone through the grieving process quicker than others and gotten over our anger quickly while others may be stuck there for quite some time. I hope most fans can get to the acceptance phase before Priest comes to their town. But don't worry, they will come to the US, I'm just not sure if it will be this year or next year.

With the exception of having tickets, my sentiments exactly!
I hope the fans who believe the band might have been obligated to inform ticket holders sooner so they could alter their plans or return for refund/re-sell their tickets, give it some time. It is my opinion, telling the truth about this situation is about as difficult as finding Atlantis - lol I don't really want to know. I'll leave that nonsense to speculative reporters / journalists. If the band did not show up for a gig I would expect a refund. A new guitarist might mean a quality 'Priest gig after all! But hey. I might not get that even. Other than Mexico, there haven't been dates posted for North America. But I'm spiralling. So I'll leave my remarks at that, for now.
Cheers! It was nice reading your thoughts.

My thought process went like this:
Phase one:
Denial and disbelief - I can't beleive this is true! No it is just a spat...the will get over it.
Phase two:
Reisistance - This will rip the band apart, it can't work, this tour will flop and I can't stand to watch it!
Phase three:
Acceptance - OK well this has happened to them and other bands before, and many have survived (and many have not), but they still are going to tour. I do agree a guitarist is less noticable than a lead singer in a band.
You know Scott Travis came and somehow Painkiller become one of their best releases will new found energy. Why couldn't the sme be true with this new guy?
Phase four:
Commitmment - I will go see them!!! I am going to support my favorite band like I support my favorite team even though they also have team line up changes!!!!!!
Just bought my tickets to Wolverhampton on Friday!!!! I believe a new guitarist will add to the fresh sound to future albums.
I am committed to seeing them this last tour. Who knows after this Glenn and/or Rob could retire and the band could continue. (I do not know if I would support the band then/but maybe I would - don't know)
But one thing I do know, I would feel miserable if I did not go see them this last time, then the end for good!!!
I am committed - tickets in hand. Let's go new guy, make us ALL RE-committed!
KK Thank you for everything!

Priest will be coming to Wolverhampton (UK) In July and i WILL be going!! I do want to see Glen,Rob,Ian and Scott one more time and not even KK leaving will change this.
What i would be interested in knowing is if KK has contributed to the new songs for the new album ?
He is an important part of the songwriting team and to lose him would surely be a blow to the band.

I don't want it to be gay, I just think it is. Priest have loads of gay songs, why not this one?

It has always been my experience that people determined to find something wrong with the lyrics in a song, always do because they read WAAAAAAY TOO MUCH into things, or take it completely out of context! People were hell bent on making Priest a "satanic" band way back when and the shit they told me the lyrics meant was absolutely hysterical! You WANT the song to be gay because Rob is gay and that's why you see it that way.

I think the Starbreaker is a gay guy who is opening up the gay lifestyle to guys who are confused about their sexuality. He does this by exposing them to a world that is vastly different to the one they are used to and one which will ultimately bring them happiness, should they decide to go his way. All the references to cruising, hand holding, stealing hearts and getting high aside that's basically what it's about. Whether or not you agree I'm glad that comment sparked some debate.
As for the album cover I'm surprised that the dark figure hasn't fallen over leaning on that angle and I love how the female figure at the front appears to be naked apart from her high heels.
I've been digging through some really old cassettes and found some of my old Rob Halford-interviews.
One of them is from Swedish national radio 1984, a rock-show called Rockdepartementet, where Rob begins with "I'm 32 years old...". Talk about stepping into a time-machine...!
The next interview is an "as-is" interview from the Painkiller tour back in 1991. It's about 45 minutes and not even I have heard the whole thing since it was done!
I used to record everything so that I wouldn't forget what had been said when it was time to write my article. This particular interview was also aired on a small Swedish radio station, Radio MCB once - but only about 50% of the whole interview.
It's as exclusive as it gets for those who are collecting Halford-stuff. I can guarantee that you've never ever heard this one.
I posted "Part 1" today. There will be part 2 and 3 as I dig out more...
You'll find the blog and the audio-files in an embedded player HERE.
PLEASE PEOPLE we have most of these same songs on DVD from:
Brisitsh Steel 30th
Electric Eye
Two Ripper albums
Priest Live
Vengeance Live 82.
(and they are all great)
Let's request Songs that we do not have on DVD.
You know they will video tape the shows do we really need another Turbo, YGATC, or Living After Midnight played live?!?!?!?!?
Please request songs never played like:
Reckless, Hard as Iron, Demonizer, Persecution, Pain & Pleasure, White Heat Red Hot ect.....
Let's get these on DVD - remember this is the start of their final days as JP on tour!!!
Most people post the set lists, and as I read through them I got lost because of the sheer volume of variety of opinions.
So as I said I will take a different tactic.
I love all of Judas Priest songs – even some of the more controversial ones!!!
So my recommendation would be to avoid the “more traditional” great classics.
(i.e. Metal Gods, Breaking the Law, Living After Midnight, The Ripper, You’ve Got Another Thing Coming, Victim of Changes, Turbo Lover, Dessert Plains, The Green Manalishi, Prophecy, Touch of evil, Beyond the Realms of Death, Hell Bent for Leather, I’m a Rocker, Diamonds and Rust, and a few others)
NOTE: ALL of the above songs are AWESOME.
But if you want to make this tour SPECIAL, change the set list to make it MEMORABLE!!
My reason for stating this, is because, we have the DVD’s and Videos of these great classics to watch over and over again already.
This is not to say these aren’t GREAT, but let’s get some new classics played this tour and when they video-tape this tour in Blu-Ray 1080p HD quality we can all watch new tracks.
We need the following on DVD & Audio* :
Cheater
Tyrant*
StarBreaker* (Yes with Extended Drum intro by Scott)
White Heat, Red Hot
Delivering the Goods* or Before the Dawn (Both!!)
NOTE: Since all of BS is on DVD and Audio as of last year, why not skip in place for another track
Don’t’ Go (would be a great "groovy sounding" track like The Rage was Live)
Pain and Pleasure (Freakin great under-rated track!!!!)
Heavy Duty/DOTF* (Great ending track for crowd to chant)
Reckless (It is obvious to almost everyone THIS ONE MUST BE PLAYED. IF you don’t play this it would seem you are not listening to us…with all due respect to the gods of metal themselves)
MUST PLAY RECKLESS GUYS!!!
I would pay $100USD just to see that one song live!!! Seriously I would!
Hard as Iron or Blood Red Skies (read above comments about this one too)
One shot at Glory (Again same applies to this track)
I assume you will skip Jugulator (Burn in Hell)
I assume you will skip Demolition (Close to you)
Demonizer
Persecution or Alone
* Yes, I am aware that these songs are Live on Unleashed in the East and in the Metalogy box set, but not video taped in 1080p for a DVD release.
Good gravy, Gloria. Why on earth do you feel the need to clog the site with the same LONG tiresome message? If you feel the need to type out countless paragraphs of drivel that most skip right over, please, I beg you, limit it to one post. Thank you for your prompt attention in this matter.

ABOUT JUDAS PRIEST SHOW IN ROMANIA AGAIN
First, since the morning of 5 February, when I opened my email, and I read in a email from our Romanian Metalhead rock site that the Judas Priest will come in Romania, at Bucharest on 3 July, and when i saw that news at our romanian Tv Chanel, and finally when I checked the Judas Priest site and I saw that the news are officialy, I passed over lots feelings. First, I was shocked to see how a miracle can happen again, then knowing that exist another one posibility for me to see you live again, I became very happy, but finally knowing how stare my financial situation at this moment, and thinking that I will cannot attend at your show, I became sad, and now in this moment and probbably untill to the show, I will be very stressed into try to change my situation to do all is in my power to not miss your show, cause is your last tour, so my last chance to see you live.
Second, from now,6 February I must to start to work at my plans, and its seem the history is repeated like 2 years ago, when I needed to do the sam plans for them show, but its seems now
i need to work more at my plans than last time. Last time I was again in a search of a job, which I found finally but I must to throught that out when cames the show time, now am I again without a job, so I must to start to look for one and fast, but with this crisis from world, and special in my poor country, my small town, the most many people still are through out from their jobs, so I don’t know what chances I have to get one, but I will try, and even if I will arrive to get one, should be a better to be a good paid one , otherwise, I don’t know if I will be able to save all these money when I need to take care of my family too, to help my parents too, which they need me, my father who lost his job too, and my mother who need their monthly medications, and also to hadle with all our rents in bank, and also with all daily utilities, but I hope, the sum which I calculated that I will need for all these are about 200- 250 euros, maybe few, maybe more, I don’t know exactly, will depend on many, then last time I got the lucky to receive a free ticket from my cousin from Bucharest, which worked at Radio 21 station there , a radio which was media partner for the band show, but now my cousin now work there anymore, so I will need to buy the ticket, then last time I was with the car of my best friend here from the company where he work, now I will go with the same friend, due to the fact that I cannot pay for a car untill there, and I can’ t go with the airplane, even if is too much easy and fast, is too much expensive, and I can’t go with the train also, cause is not such comfortably to travel such many hours to the third class, and to travel at first class, is too much expensive, even if I love the trains, and finally last time when I arrived in Bucharest, I got the luck to stay at my cousin appartment, but now he not live in Bucharest anymore, and now probably I wil need to rent a room hotel there, cause I don’t have anyobody in Bucharest anymore, just some net friends, which I met on internet, never in face, mans which are able to bring me in their homes, but which want other things from me….you know, and God knows that I can’t do that,I just can’t spend a night with a man just for a room, when tomorrow I will need to go to see you the love of my life which you came to sing for us ,romanians ,so now way, better alone in a hotel room. The conclusion is not that I want to complain of some here, cause I know out there exist more many people in more many bad situations than mines, which wish to arrive at the show, and they just can’t, but I write here just because I hope that someone will read these, and will give me a job, or if not, because I hope at least that some of my net friends, which I helped them once, to see that, and if they really understand my love for that band, to return me the help, into trying to help me to arrive at the show, and finally because I hope that in the case in which I will cannot also attend at their show, my net friends which will can do that, will think at me too and will send me some souvenirs from the show, or a poster, or a copy from a ticket, or a autograph if they will get one ,specialy from you Rob Halford.
Third, in the 3 July, if I will also arrive at your show, even if I will do not know how you will come, to go to meet you at the airport, etc, even if I will not know where you will sit,to go to meet you at a hotel ,etc, even if I will cannot enter to the press conference to see you close, and even if I will cannot do a photo with you Rob, or even if I will cannot get an autograph from you Rob, even if I will never see your eyes so close Rob ,and I will never hear his voice Rob, I will,at least I know you will know that i will be there somewhere like last time, and when you will say “I love You Romania”,I know what you will think that I will say in my mind, so I will be glad to see you on stage at least and I hope you will sing my first three favorite songs from all your discoghraphy, Blood Red Sky, Fire Burns Below and Living Bad Dreams, which I would like to hear you Rob to say that is dedicate to me, but also I would like you to sing some of these songs too, which I wrote in the order of the discography, such as from
:
-Rocka Rolla: the ballads Run of the Mill or Dying to Meet You, and the heaviest Rocka Rolla ,or One for the Road, or Cheater, then from
-Sad Wings of Destiny, the balads Dreamer Deceiver or Victim of Changes, and the haviest Island of Domination or Tyrant, then from
-Sin After Sin, the ballads Here Comes The Tears or Last Rose of Summer, and the heaviest Race with the Devil or Starbreaker, then from
-Stained Class, the heaviest White Heat Red Hot, or Invader , then from
-Hell Bent for Leather the ballads Before the Down and the heaviest Fight for Your Life, or Running Wild, or Rock Forever, then from
-British Steel ,Breaking the Law( was the first song which I loved from they when I discovered them music), Steeler, or The Rage, then from
-Point of Entry, the heaviest Don’t Go , or Hot Rockin, or Thunder Road, or Turning Circles, or Troubleshooter, then from
-Screaming for Vengeance, the ballads Prisoners of your Eyes and the heaviest, Take This Chance ,or Devils Child ,or Riding on the Wind, then from
-Defenders of the Faith, the ballads When the Night Comes Down, or Turn on Your Light, and the heaviest Rock Hard Ride Free, or Love Bites, or Eat me Alive, or The Sentinel, then from
-Turbo, the heaviest Reckless, or Turbo, or Locked In, or Out in the Cold , then from
-Ram it Down the ballads Monster of Rock and the heaviest Ram it Down ,or Heavy Metal, or Love Zone, or Hard as Iron, or Come and get It , then from
-Painkiller the One Shot at Glory, or Painkiller, or Night Crawler, or Between the Hammer and the Anvil, then from
-Angel of Retribution the ballads Angel, or Lockness, and the heaviest Wheels of Fire, or Worth Fighting For, or Deal with the Devil, or Hellrider, and finally from
-Nostradamus the ballads Future of Mankind, or Alone, or Exiled, or Lost Love, and the heaviest Pestilence and Plague, or Visions, or Revelation, or Nostradamus.
And necessarly the song Diamond and Rust(the acoustic version).
Finally, I am still shocked that the same miracle is happen again in my life, and even if since now and probably untill then I will be stressed, also if all will be ok, then finally I will be happy, so from now I will fight for this and I will pray for this so I will wait you like always, my soulmate and don’t forget that…
I LOVE YOU AND I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU!

I agree. Actually Head Banger the Girl School cover they did "Race With The Devil" thats found on the bonus Sin After Sin album is pretty cool, but all the others yeah I don't like them either. This is sad,is this what we've been reduced too here? Pleading for Priest to make 3 new songs? Its pathetic (not you guys, the fact that we have to plead with the band) that we are left with Nostradamus as the last Judas Priest album.
There definately isn't any plans on working on new material,if there was they would of mentioned it with the "big news" in December. Pssssft...."big news" my ass....what a lame shinanigan they pulled on us here man,we all were jacked up for this "big news in December" crap that Rob was mentioning but we never thought we were all supposed to jump up and fucking down because Jayne Andrews released information that the band is touring one last time without a new studio album wha-hooo right? Bullshit!
THIS TOUR IS ALL ABOUT GETTING MORE "$" CASH! Money money money is what they are after on this last tour or they wouldn't bother,it sure as hell would sell more than a new album that the trendy fucks out there wouldn't listen to because it doesn't have Living After Midnight on it,or You've Got Another Thing Comin......only the "hard core" long - time fans would be buying the record, which isn't enough to pay for K.K.'s golf corse "BLAH"!!!!
Like I said we've been shafted by the band here and the band didn't have the god damn common courtesy to give us a reach around!! A big round of "boooooooo's".
Oh I almost forgot.....a big "fuck yourself" to the geek "tasnam1"( just because I said so ) you chicken shit little bastard!

Incredible. I think that you are spot-on with this post as I feel almost exactly the same way. Right down to the "diamonds in the sky" line. That phrase just sticks out like a sore thumb, doesn't it? Caught my attention right away.
While I also like the album as a whole, I do flip-flop about the lyrics as well. Some, along with the guitars and drums for that matter, are simply too predictable. While I like the guitars / solos in Made of Metal, I find myself counting how many times "Supersonic silver flying machine" is repeated. I'll have a count when I get some free time.
Don't get me wrong, I love the album as a whole (I can really get into most songs, even "I Know We Stand a Chance" has a catchy little riff) but can't help but wonder if the absence of Patrick Lachman had an effect here. Roy Z is certainly no match on guitar and, when I compare earlier Halford shows both by memory and DVD/CD, it is even more noticeable. For those who saw the Resurrection tour, I am sure that you'll agree: Lachman was just a metal monster on stage. (Quoting Message by tasnam1 from Thursday, October 07, 2010 8:37:20 PM)

After listening to the album for another two days some fine tuning thoughts:
I think the album musically is GREAT. But, lyrically, it is just off; i can't explain it. I love Rob, he is the best on this planet. It just seems his song writing lost creativity a little.
Take Made of Metal. GREAT music in the background. Fair lyrics.
Matador, GREAT music and style. Lyrics are "just okay".
Made of Metal, GREAT musically. Lyrics I go back and forth on. (I feel like I am watch Disney's CARS!!!!)
Ect, ect, ect.
I really like Speed of Sound and the track after it Like there's no tomorrow (although "like diamonds in the sky" is a little cheesy), Hell Razor is just plain COOL.
Of course Mower.
I seem to ALWAYS Skip over Fire & Ice and Thunder and Lightning - I believe these were filler tracks for him.
Undisputed is good musically, but the fact it is about a boxer, just seems to rub me the wrong way. Almost like he was trying to hard to fit a song around an industry.
Undisputed
Made of Metal
Matador
These songs just "seem" like he was trying to hard to fit the "events" around these lyrics.
If they become great anthems. I will be the first to admit it worked.

First of all I will preface my comments with the fact that I am a Halford/Fight and of course Priest fan through and through - so my comments are not negative, just analytical in nature.
The Mower song itself is worth the whole album - exceptional in everyway.
I like Speed of sound.
Hell Razor sounds like Stained Class/Sad wind era, which is cool - nice work.
Heartless is like a 2010 remake of 1986 Heart of a Lion, but much better - (now I can stop listening to HOAL (which was tough) and replace it with Heartless)
Made on Metal and Matador - I my opinion - are just ok tracks musically. My belief, challenge me if you want, is that Rob is trying to create an anthem style song to be play at Nascar and Bullfighting arenas. He is a reasonalby smart marketing guy from a 60 yeear old metal bands point of view. Think Gary Glitter (pedophile), and other rock anthems at sports events. The become timeless and of course push the popularity of the creator of the songs, long after the band is even alive.
As far as the lyrics, overall yes they seem a little superficial/simple in nature, I agree. For what ever reason that would be my most critical comment.
Overall I like the album so far and will listen to it even more now. I will like this album more over time. Now I give it a B+ maybe even soon an A- .
But again Mower is worth the album. I would pay $15.00 for that one song. And I mean that. I feel it is that good; even a challenger for Painkiller!
Thoughts?

Agreed. I would rather they have an additional release in Blu-Ray.
Also I don't mind the blood/razor change, but wish they just put that new style on the inside as a bonus change, and kept the outside cover as traditional.
It appears that the Making of BS is the same as the show that is on VH1 -Correct?
So unlikely for any "new" bonus material. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Heera 30090 from Tuesday, March 09, 2010 12:50:50 PM)

I have a 100 inch HD TV, so would way rather have a Hi-Def Blu-Ray than a dvd.......
On HDNet... they will be playing the concert in HD...so I know it was filmed in Hi-Def.
I am special - just like everyone else thinks they are special.
On this space my opinion means the same as yours.
As far as putting out a disco album - I can't answer that one. They haven't yet. When they do I'll give you my opinion.
Yup, #1 JP fan in the world along with all the other self proclaimed JP fans.
"have no game" - please define, since that is your speculation.

Not sure if your post was in response to my question or the question regarding Crazy Bob.
But if it was mine, I actually do not remember the article, but his comment stuck with me.
I believe it makes sense.
That was right around the time Rob quit chemicals (per se). I LOVE DOTF. But I does have "kind" of a depressing theme.
I personally could get real mellow listening to Night comes down, Heads, HD/DOTF even sentinel. Not that the music doesn't have power - it does. It is just emotional. (Especially AFTER a few scotches ;-> )
I've never heard that anywhere, sure would like to see your source. Just to be clear. Not that I don't believe you, but I do like to see it in print from a reliable source. Thanks!

Regarding which album/tour did Ian Hill say, "Thank God we are done with that album......it was so depressing." ?
Ian Hill said this right after finishing the "Defender's of the Faith" tour regarding the album.
BTW - This Outlook/view from Ian and IF shared by the rest of the band, (and what ever chemicals they may have been involved in), could have been an influence as to why Turbo was so "UPPY" in content.
Just my thoughts.

A history of British Heavy Metal, probably nothing thast everyone here doesn't already know but of course includes interviews with our favourite metal gods, and the presenter clearly knows and loves his stuff, its great to see mainstream British radio celebrating the best of British music!
As I said in my post. "It is about the money". which is the reasons why these bands change.
I never said I agreed or supported it.
It is simple about the money so most (if not even all) bands adapt and change to meet the demands of the business.
Example: (Note I am not in the business so these are my assumptions)
#1 Band makes first album sells 10,000 copies - no food to eat, hand to mouth
#2 Fronted $50,000 to make second album. Sell 100,000 copies - get money for booze, drugs, girls & food.
#3 Fronted $125,000 to make third album. Sell 500,000 copies - get first sports car, real apartment and more excesses.
#4 Fronted $250,000 to make forth album. Sell 1,000,000 copies. Buy house, Fararri and lots of girls.
#5 Fronted $500,000 to make fifth album. Sales Suck. sell only 450,000 copies. Indebted to record company even more.
HAVE to sell more albums to keep up with lifestyle and pay back fronte money.
Need money for excesses that they have become accustomed to.
#6 Company puts even MORE pressure on them to top the past sales and the band concedes.
They HAVe to; in order to keep up the pattern of growth.
#7 You know the rest of this story.....
This is the way of the REAL Music world.
You and I know that many bands start with the intent of putting music first but they get caught in the corporate trap.
In fact almost no way around it.
IT IS A BUSINESS!
BTW - I have had a few scotches tonight so sorry for typos........Cheers!
They look like they're going to head down to starbucks and get a double shot trim soy milk latte or some shit, LOL!

p.2006 and 'Baptism of Fire' reissue p. 2006. Delivered within 2 days. To my liking, money well spent, thanks.
I saw the show last night at Merriweather Post, here are some notes:
-The weather was bad as thunder storms were forecast; it did rain on and off and it was quite humid in the pavilion area. The Post holds about 17,000 and I would estimate the crowd to have been about 7-8,000; the pavilion was ¾ full and the lawn area about ¼ full. I know the weather had a negative influence on the attendance but the numbers were still strong.
-Popevil opened – I missed them
-Kix - opening again for JP as they did 30 years ago in Baltimore. The lead singer was very excited to be playing at Merriweather in front of a large and home crowd. The band drew a nice number of fans and they gave the band a good “pop”.The lead singer was very outgoing but a little juvenile; he repeatedly grabbed his crotch and made sexual remarks, which was a little weird coming from a guy who has to be pushing 60. I will give the guy credit for keeping in shape as he had zero body fat and looked like Iggy Pop.The band had some technical issues but it didn’t keep them rockin’ out. They played well and gave 100%, and the lead singer hasn’t lost any vocal range at all, has he even aged?
-JP – of course, the crowd was here to see JP and they let the boys know it as soon as they set foot on stage with loud cheers. Rob forgot the structure to the 1st song (Rapid Fire) and KK was looking around trying to get the band back in synch. Rob also appeared to be having some sort of problem as he had to leave the stage after every song. He would only re-appear when the lyrics started and after the song he would exit again. The band even took a short break right in the middle of their British Steel set; I wonder if Rob had some back problems which required rest or treatment throughout the show. Besides this, Rob sounded great and hit all the high notes with piercing clarity.KK took an ended solo during Victim of Changes and Glenn even teased the crowd during Victim as if he was going to do his solo. What can I say, the band was awesome, the crowd was wild and JP are the true masters! You can never go wrong seeing JP in concert!
Regarding the merch - shirt sales were strong, the most popular was the one with the British Steel logo on front w/ tour dates on back, all of the XXL and XL sizes were gone when I bought mine during Kix's set.

After listening to this song I seems like it would make sense that he wrote this for his dad - a very emotional and touching song.
Then at the Priest show this past week, when talking with some folks, someone mentioned that Glenn lost his wife in death (rumor perhaps?) and the song was written as a memory to her.
(Then someone else mentioned that he divorced her three years ago)
The NEW DVD will be a little bit of a let down because of .....NOT JP they showed up and did pretty well.....the crowd in FLL SUCKED!!!!!!!!!
That's right - sorry FL I know i am making some enemies, but you guys were the worst...soo.boring!!!!
This is my 4th JP show THIS TOUR!
FYI - July 9th Toronto, Aug 5th SDSU, Aug 6th Costa Mesa, Aug 17th FLL.
The other crowds were loud, crazy, sang out loud, and for GOD's SAKE stood up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I was in section 201 right off of Glenn an out of the 1/2 full section (which is another problem) I was one of the few standing. everyone sat the whole time.
I think Glenn even got frustrated at a few points when his camera panned over to the 1/2 empty section.
Some other issues.....(Not fault of JP or FLL)
People did not know that JP was playing alone.
the arena was virtually 50% full at 15 minutes to show time.
If they Had not delyed the opening no one would be in the crowd scene. This was a result of Whitesnake and popeevil BOTH not playing tonight.
the guy next to me, like others assumed JP would go on at 9:00PM.
Guess what the show started at 8:12PM and i think that caught unsuspecting people by surprise. (which lead to a lack luster audience)
Same set list.
Eddie Truck and his two guys said a few words to open the show.
the guiters seemed to get more feedback when they started each song, more then the other shows.
Rob's voice was on par with SDSU show (IMO Toronto #1, Costa Mesa #2)
Glenn a little off like the SDSU show
NOTE Scott was INTO this SHOW!!! he was going nuts compared to the comments I've read from others about his blank stare.
I do wish they would have extended the setlist for the DVD.
Rob did a lot of sing a longs where he hel the mic for the audience to sing the words for him.....not my preference.
we will see how much studio magic they pull off to make this a winner.
I saw 5 cameras (1 boom by KK, one way back, and three in the front. there could have been more, but i couldn't find them.
The security was asses. they would not lt anyone really move around - that is not fun.
Why is it we cannot get ONE person to just post some of the set list?
Do the people reading this board who went to the show have no interest in sharing as well have all done about shows? [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Secesh1864 from Friday, August 14, 2009 7:54:41 PM)

I know this is a very dumb question but I will ask it anyways.....
Do you think BOTH KK & Glenn can read music notes?
I am NOT a musician, but I have read many famous musicians can only play based on sound and not by reading notes.
After watching this video I just wondered why after demonstrating the cords of the songs Glenn did not say "so to play BTL press note A, B, C G-flat and repeat"? (or something like that)

BTW Soy, thanx for clearing the situation up for me. I'm such a die hard partier and assumed I was invited. hahahahaha. Yup, this isn't the first time I've misunderstood.
But hey, I look forward to the day with all the Priest fans from here and more buddies that are showing up at the gig. It's gonna be a blast.
WW and Tasnam, (the out of towners) hahaha = we can certainly accomodate entertaining you in Toronto. Maybe we could all meet at a cool restaurant downtown, like maybe the Hard Rock Cafe on Yonge Street. It's an excellent place to throw back a few brews and most definitely cheeper than consuming said beers at Ontario Place where it's guarantteed to cost twice as much. And besides, we can all make faces at Kim Mitchell who works at Q107 and the radio station broadcasts from the front of the Hard Rock. Kim Mitchell, I am certain, will even promo Priest on the radio if we ask him nicely. He's such a cool dude.
Hi to all, from Whiskey Woman & 'the criminal' -- lol!
For those who don't know, our trip from BC to Milwaukee was thwarted by the Customs Border Patrol -- who had no problem letting my bad-ass husband into the States last year when we trekked down to Vegas & met up with the ladies of Sinful. This time was a bit different.
After much separate interrogation and searching of the RV, they finger-printed & photographed the afore-mentioned criminal b/c of something(s) he might have done 20 years ago. While they had him in there for the 2nd time, I finally saw the RV -- but it was pointing in the wrong direction! North? Hmmm... Yep, we got kicked out of the States.
So, we've been trying to make the best of missing those ladies of Sinful & Priest in Milwaukee -- which hasn't been too hard (cough, cough) b/c besides being rather HUGE ... Ontario and it's lakes are beautiful. Lots of weird bugs we haven't seen before, and don't care if we ever see again...but nice. Did I say the lakes are HUGE???!!! Damn.
To put it all in perspective, it takes 12 hours to drive over the Rockies from Vancouver to Calgary -- and we drove around Lake Superior for over two days. Crazy man!
Anyway, we're sitting in Hamilton trying to find a hotel that will fit our RV and take Peekaboo (the cat). Best we can do is a Fairmont suite -- for all the right kinds of money! (Darn, eh? LOL...wait 'til 'the criminal' wakes up from his nap to hear that!)
We're definitely "in" for lunch at the CN tower if someone wants to get back to us -- and you don't mind hanging out with some shady characters! We got 2nd row, centre tickets ... again, for all the right money, off eBay -- so we hope it all works out. Totally looking forward to meeting more Canadian JP fans and breakin' the law before the show. Apparently, that's what we do... lol.
yeah, Hellrider and Marktheshark, are you dudes gonna join us for a Priest Day? We're thinking CN Tower???? for brunch or lundin ???? Anyone else planning to join Soy, Alloy and Tim? If so, let us know?
I'm in for anything going on. I should be in Toronto at approx 4pm as well. Has anyone made any solid plans yet? Like what bar we will meet up at? Or is that all still up in the air? I'll keep checkin in for updates.
Tasnam1, sure you can join us for a pre-show party! The more the merrier!
I think the plan as of now is to meet at the bar in Ontario Place before the show. Party on the patio, weather permitting. I'm planning on getting there around 4:00pm. What time is everyone else going to be there?
OK not trying to stamp out the Scott is great run, but that was not the intent of my original question.
I think Scott is the BEST drummer in the world and I do not want him to leave the band either, so no need to continue down this path.
The intent was, why was Dave Holland or Les Binks not at the trial. I do NOT have much legal experience but would guess that both of them were contractors and not vested members.
Someone posted that Les may not have had money, trust me that is not the reason. They sued the band as a unit and not personally. I bet my monet Dave and Les were NOT legal members.
As far as Scott is concerned, my hope is that he is a vested member with voting rights, but perhaps he is not.
As would also guess that Tim Owens was not a Vested member.

I know this is a 'Who Cares' question, but I'll throw it out;
The Trial in Denver seemed to be missing Dave Holland. Why? He was a member of the band.
Obviously he was NOT a member when the album was recorded, so I would assume perhaps that is why he did not have to be present.
But if that was the case shouldn't Les Binks have been called? He was a member at the time of recording.
Which brings me to my next point, if Les Binks wqas not called perhaps it was because he was a 'contractor' or NON-Vested member of the band.
Maybe Dave Holland was a contractor as well and NON-Vested member all along.
Question #2 - Do you think Scott Travis is a contractor or is he a Vested member?
Thoughts on all of the above?

I know, I know who cares about this past crap.......
Very interesting, young man. It would seem to me that you fancy yourself some kind of authority on music, not to mention intelligence, based on some kind of logistical criteria. Unfortunately, your specious arguments serve only to expose you as yet ANOTHER trouble making "know-it-all" with VERY little substance and less education.
Please explain how it is that someone who is going on and on about an album begins by not even having the brains to spell "BRITISH" correctly?? Also, I am not sure what kind of school system is available in YOUR area but one cannot "take it personal" when the word is an adverb and one would be taking it personally. MORE brilliance, MENSA. Further, you continue to refer to "we" as if you and those in your particular area are somehow better or more well-informed with regard to music and its viability. What is it that can possibly be "learned" from you? Poor spelling? Elitism? Unless one is royalty, referring to oneself as "we" is nonsense and makes one look foolish. Well done!
It is interesting that you are so very proud of those in YOUR area yet you (conveniently) do not say where that is... Clearly, it is a "hot bed" of musical superiority! Not much for educated conversation and polite dialogue but you surely know your way around an album, huh? Before you come to this site and begin a feeble campaign to insult it's members, perhaps you should take a few summer school classes in English? You certainly must have time as you cannot possibly hold down a job with such poor communication skills.
Keyd wrote:
Don't hold your breath headbanger. It's not so much that people will learn (as those in question who are defending Brittish Steel are probably not capable of learning much) but if it makes them better people subconsciously that would be an improvement. Plus those who have supported the band and seen these silly Brittish Steel songs for years will benefit if Priests steps up their current live set. Those issues seem more important than having those simple people "learn" about music. Both Rob & Glenn have said that the almost 3 hour Nostradamus set will not have an opening band. I'm sure you missed that but you can start making plans for a family night of Hannah Montana. We definitely don't want you at the venue talking over the masterpieces on Nostradamus or spilling your light beers all over the place while we are trying to enjoy one of the best shows ever.
Ron please don't take it too personal I am sure you are knowledgeable in other areas but some of the others who just "found" Brittish Steel should not waste commenting until they are more knowledgeable and can do more than quote mainstream reviews of this Brittish Steel that they read in Wall-Mart or in Rolling Stone comparing it to "other Metal Classics" like Deep Purple's Machine Head. And why would I want to jam out to a car? Yes Ron, it was unanimous-Everyone in my area who was a Judas Priest fan before Brittish Steel was disappointed with that release. As I mentioned before it may have been different in the deep suburbs of Oklahoma. By the time we heard the solo for Headin out the Highway for the first time, we burst into laughter and began playing it left handed. I like it better now by the way but it is quite simple and dumbing-just get a good tone and play it cool.
Spandex? Brittish Steel is what many people think of when they hear the word spandex. Perhaps you are the pot calling the kettle black? Are you going to wear them to the show? Also, maybe those red pants will be back on stage for this Brittish Steel tour. It would be only fitting.
I realize this isn't everyone's favorite cover, but look at the boys go!! Did someone replace the band's Guinness with Folgers Crystals?! Rob is all over the place, Dave smiles for the first and only time in Priest history and whatever KK is doing to that guitar is probably illegal in South Carolina

With downloading, people have short attention spans and aren't in to the 2 hour concept records like those in the '70's. I think if JP would have trimmed the songs and made some quality videos to support them, ie Nostradamus, Alone, etc.(note JP has not made a quality video since Painkiller) then we would have a much better JP masterpiece and sales would be better, but we know all about 20/20 vision.
The fact that JP has been this good and well recieved and chart topping for this long is amazing in and of itself. Many other bands like them are reduced to milking their 2-3 semi hit songs in dive bars around the world while JP still play is huge areas some 35+ years later!
I would be pleasantly surprised if JP made another studio cd but in the mean time; all of us should stop "arm chair quarterbacking" the JP Nostradamus cd or the 29-30 yr aniversery of British Steel and just go out there and rock out with them as much as we can before the FINAL CURTAIN CALL.
~J
Nostradamus has 10x the depth of Turbo! (both Turbo and Ram it Down were throw-away LPs for me. they had some ok songs but the musical effort was missing.
The thing that irks me is Priest talked about how proud they were of the Nostradamus cd(and they should be) however you would never know it by the lack of music video support for their top 2-3 songs including what should have been the title track(Nos.) they spent a ton of time pre-pumping Nostradamus on the net but no video!??, then release "Visions" as the lead single (not Nostradamus??) and no video! Then they put out some half-ass cartoon video of "War' which wasn't even released as single- and non of these nor the other kick-ass songs where ever played on tour.(exception Proffecy).
JP has had a quality outside producer or music video since Painkiller ,some 18 years ago and the results are obvious. If you look at AC/DC, Metalica, Motley Crue etc... they all had good outside producers and quality videos to support their best songs and the results are ......again.....obvious!
I would add though, that the Dirt book is unique because I do not think you would have to be a fan of Crue to get into the book.
The Defender book, I believe after reading it that if you were not a fan most (80%?) of the book would bore the heck out of you. It is more about the band that we already know and is the "public story".
Find me a Preist book that is TRULY behind the scenes.
The Dirt is like an XXX rated "behind the music".

Reason: Alot of the info in the book is recycled stories that all of us have heard from various sources.
Yes there is some new material and pics.
And some accurate info to fill in blanks.
But also some ( a handful or two) of errors.
I would recommend borrowing from someone instead of buying.
Now here's the deal folks.
I am a True Priest fan 100% through and through.
BUT I must say the BEST - Hands Down - BEST book that I just finished reading is Motley Crue's 'The DIRT'.
I am not trying to take attention from my all time favorite band on this site, but there is NOT even a comparison in the two books.
If I would give Defenders a 6/10 MC Dirt is 15/10 it is that good. It is 450 pages + PICs and I was so involved I read it on a East coast/west coast flight in the U.S.
It gives the 'truth' according to each members perspective. The same story may be completely different depending on which band members eyes is speaking.
It touches on A LOT of X rated stuff - so be warned. (Yes X rated stories with many Hollywood names)
I do not believe too many bands (of course there were some) acted they way these guys acted over their careers.

Ok here is one that may be kind of tough (partly because one question is so new - like - TODAY!)
It is two questions + 2 Bonus parts for a total of 30 possible points:

Has anyone noticed that when the Turbo album was released I believe Locked in was the first video followed by Turbo lover.
However if you watch the two videos doesn't it seem that they should be reversed?
Meaning the "continuity" is out of order.
The story seems backwards.
Rob is already captured and doesn't he split off at the end of one of the video's?
I'll have to rewatch both of them and see.
Maybe they intended one way but the Record company insisted o a different order of single release. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Thursday, February 12, 2009 7:53:32 PM)

Ahhh...follow-up to the Turbo Lover question posed here the other day. As noted, the Electric Eye DVD does NOT have the same versions as those on the VHS (originals) Fuel for Life. I had just never noticed.
I mentioned that I also had a DVD. It is, in fact, from Brazil and has the exact copies from the same analog source as the Fuel for Life VHS. Even better, has 5.1 surround sound. Mystery solved!
Again Icecreamman, I have to agree with most of your picks.
I would change:
Stained class - BTROD
POE - Actually I have been listening to DOn't GO Lately - and it is not that bad of a song
DOF- Heavy Duty is pretty cool
Turbo - I go back and forth between Turbo and Reckless
Painkiller - PK!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jug - BIH - hands down the best
Nos - Persecution/Alone - Tie [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by icecreamman from Thursday, February 05, 2009 5:56:10 PM)

I know you guys are going to hate me for this, but Painkiller has never really sounded that great live. I think it should be replaced by Metal Meltdown (Including the incredible intro) which I think would be an acceptable substitute. Hell Bent for Leather is a way better show closer than You've Got Another Thing Comin'. Also You Don't Have To Be Old To Be Wise hasn't been played since the British Steel Tour
(I think) and is one of my favorite songs off that album. Also Angel is a great song and I hated cutting it from the setlist, but I did that to make room for Nostradomus. Please do not kill me for this.......
I've been to: England, Germany, Russia, Hungary..... (Stepped foot into); North korea, Latvia, Switzerland, France. I want to go back to Germany and England..................... Yeah! Canada and Czech Republic would be sweet too, and i've always had a soft spot for South America. ....
I am not sure about the first part of your question, but I would be interested in the answer of others.
I know "reports" are that they have sold somewhere between 30-35-40 million albums worldwide.
Then add merchandise from tours, tour tickets, and online merchandise (probably not much online for them).
So if anyone has knowledge of the music industry they could comment on the items above.
As far as your second question, I think there are two answers:
#1 Die hard metal heads that had their thumbs on the metal scene, probably discovered them around British Steel era 1980.
But that most likely did not put them on the mainstream map per say- just among head bangers at that time - most likely.
#2 Screaming for Vengeance in 82 really shot them into the spotlight for financial and music success.
#2a (or #3) If you wanted to say the next level (although controversial) would be Turbo in 1986. Again sold out tours and higher record sales (compared to other albums than SFV), but notably Women & Jocks!!!!!
How Rich do you all think that JP is. Also, what Album put them over the top in terms of being relevent in the rock/metal world?
I have a lot of love and respect for JP. It just tickles me that they got nominated for a Grammy, despite the fact that Nostradumas, was a conterverisal concept album for JP.
I just finished watching Scorpions “A Night to Remember – Live at Wacken 2006”.
First of all, am I a Scorpions fan? Well yes and no. I like them as a group – lots of good rockers, but not a raving fan like Judas; I certainly do not follow them as closely as Judas. But again, they are a solid group in my opinion.
First of all let’s discuss the technical observations.
Video & Audio:
I watched the show on my 50” Pioneer 1080p HDTV flat screen, through my Philips DVD 1080i Upscale DVD player, Yamaha RX-V863 7.1 and with triple subs –(one sub being a Martin Logan Depth i), PSB speakers, Klipsch center channel and dual Bose surrond – so I consider my system solid for the task.
The video production was top notch – excellent! Compared to Rising in the East - not even close. For some reason in RITE the colors “bleed”. I do not know if the Scorpions used HD cameras or not, but the video production quality was not even close to RITE. Also is it in 16:9 so the people do not “stretch” when they go to the sides of the screen as they seem to do during RITE. I HATE watching movies when the actors stretch on the left and right sides of the screens.
I hope Judas can improve the video quality during the next video release; I realize it must be quite expensive to do so - but do it!
I prefer the Scorpions Video quality highly over RITE.
Video shots on Scorpions seemed way to “jumpy”. I do not think anyone got more than 3 seconds of screen time before they changed shots. This gets tiresome quite quickly in the show.
I prefer the RITE Video shots over Scorpions.
Sound production was crystal clear. 5.1 Stereo and sharp. Interestingly though RITE seemed more powerful, and “bass boomy” as well as tight at the same time. I prefer RITE sound over the Scorpions, but I cannot discount the clarity of the Scorpions show.
Set list:
Scorpions had a VERY extensive set list recorded over two nights for 26 songs. Also they had guitar solos and drum solos which I wish Judas would put on video. The Judas Solo’s I only remember seeing are opening to Hell Bent for Leather(Glenn), and bootlegs of Heavy Metal and Bootleg of Scott Travis, but nothing official.
I like the fact that the Scorpions have all hits for the most part, and some rare ones. This is ok to me and is not monotonous. I think that a Priest set list is more exciting to me. And I think a Priest set list pumps me up more than the Scorpions list – But that is not to say their set list is not powerful. I just never got into the Scorpions music program emotionally as much as the RITE show.
I do hope that the Priest folks make another extensive list like the Scorpions.
To sum up: Judas set list is heavier and more Metal which I prefer – the Scorpions list is a rockfest and is just ok in my opinion.
Vocal Quality:
I think that the Scorpions sounded quite poorly out and of sync on many songs and seemed not in tune. It is possible the Judas is/was the same way, but just “dubs” it out in the recording studio – I really do not know but RITE sounds better.
Live Performance:
The Scorpions look old. I know that Judas is old as well but one difference. For the first time, I realized something quite profound -that the Priest “outfits” or uniforms make them look unified and younger. Scorpions were a hog-pog(spelled wrong?)of clothing to look younger, but it does not work for them. They look like they are trying too hard to be young. So, I prefer Judas’ "show" look better.
I compare Matthias Jabs to Glenn Tipton & Rudolph Schenker to KK Downing. Why?
Rudolph & KK have a facial expression all the time of “struggling” or “exhausted doing their job”. Almost like a porn star who has just done the money shot(all the time)– but all the time - an effort.
Matthias & Glenn seem in control and not struggling to do their respective jobs. I prefer their look of control and mastery.
The set of the Scorpions includes a "Metallic Scorpion" crawls out during the last set. I equate this to the Robot in Fuel for Life. I am indifferent/ambivalent. I do not like it or hate it, it is kind of cool and kind of cheesy at the same time.
I love the video quality and clarity of the Scorpions show, but prefer to watch the RITE video for the emotional song connection.
Priest -please go High Def with your next video production.

Hi everybody. I went to Judas Priest show past Thursday and no doubt it was the best day of my life. The show was AMAZING, the performing band was superlative, above all Rob Halford, he even looked like a tenn, his movements reminds me Rob from the 80's, his voice sounded very well as well as the soundof the band in general . There were kinda 8.000 people, the crowd it was very exciting due to the excelent Set-List ( the same we know so far), the songs more singed were Hell Patrol, the Green Manalishi, Sinner and Rock Hard Ride Free, beside Breaking the Low, Metal Gods and Painkiller of course. One of the highlights during the show was when they performing "Death", Halford was sit in a sort of Throne as far as sing with a lot of feeling, he was very histrionic. I will looking forward next year when they peforming Nostradamus in it's interity. Acording the show, so I have no more to say that it was incredible, I hope you'll enjoy it as much I did.
Judas Priest, thanks.

Point understood from the begining about privacy issues.
Not trying to bring up personal stuff or dirt.
Just didn't know if any of the members here know them/interact with them and also post on the site.
In my opinion there is a difference between a #1 close friend (goes to their house regularly throughout the year), #2 when they come to the concert in your city they remember you and your name, and #3 being in the vicinity of their lives/towns and see them (as non friends) on a regular basis.
SOMEONE must be personal friends with the band.
Meaning they see them on a regualr basis. (relatively speaking)
Perhaps live in the same town and have coffee, beer, or dinner with the members of Priest.
Maybe pump gas, mow lawn, fix plumbing, deliver items ect....
Now I know most personal friends would never post on this site their personal relationships with the band because that would invalidate the very relationship; But SOMEONE must know the members on a personal level?
#1 Release NOS
#2 Release NOS = Title Track (Great Song for avid fans, "pretty" good song for attracking NON Priest fans)
#3 Release WAR video = WTF is this reasoning?, Marginal song compaired to the rest of the album, The video ?,.....Right I don't need to say more.......Certainly NOT gaining many fans this way.......
#4 Don't play entire album on tour (OK TOTALLY understand both pros + cons here , audience may not relate, that's realistic.
#5 Don't play NOS Title track on tour = ???
#6 Record your own Alone Vid, BBBBBBUUUUTTTTT what happened, anything since?
#6A Release Alone Radio Edit - Is really great in current condition (But understand record company's requirements)
#6B Play Prophecy live without needed Radio edit (Cut out Rob's'lip sync talking in middle & end during live performance)
#7 Cheesy Rob cell phone vids. Do get me wrong I love ANY Priest Fan back ground info.
#8 What no other Videos?
#9 I have more issue with their marketing, but I will save them until the 2009 tour.

Well first impressions by lots of people I talked to was that Nostradamus was self-indulgent & pompous. Even a terrible review here in the paper, though it was a combination review with Motley Crue's new Saints in Los Angeles. How the two even compare...Well they don't. I used to like Crue more in my teens, but I feel I've long outgrown their drugs, party & pussy themes. Priest is on a whole other level, where I don't think Crue's really evolved that much, and certainly not lyrically. They are who they are. Bless'em. That first impression by the guy writing the article didn't do Priest any favours whatsoever, at the same time RAVING about Crue's SILA. After more in depth listens, the true Nostradamus is shining through as nothing short of a masterpiece. It has a few Vegas-y moments, but this is one of my top 3 works of theirs. It's amazing and I can't get enough of it! I am actually quite happy that they released it in a double CD format and didn't cut it down to one CD, so that you can get MORE. It goes to 11. I also agree that their promotional people SUCK and I can say confidently that I never hear any Nostradamus on the radio and very RARELY ever hear JP at all. Occasionally it'll be You've Got Another Thing Coming. How sad. I will definitely see Nostradamus if they play here or near here, but I agree that it will likely not be as big a draw as their Priest Feast tour. JP are very underrated.
I read in a bio about them that they keep "playing to the same 10,000 people" (or whatever the number was) and they don't know how to change that, well...Maybe better promotion and video choices. I don't know. I'll just keep raving about them to friends & family & playing the music subliminally in the background when my boys are in the van enroute to soccer practice or a mall trip! (My 4 year old is a Halford fan already & both ask for Love Bites. Reminds them of the music in Bowser's Castle in SuperMario World!)

I think the biggest reason is if you go from DOF to Turbo is is quite different but in a "lighter" less British style dark Heavy metal sense.
Reckless and Out in the Cold are worth th $15.00 alone!!!
Listen right now to Rock You All Around The World from PRIEST...Live!!! (not the studio Turbo album version)...it is fantastic!!!
Also in my opinion Priest never played Reckless in concert is because it brings back PAinfull memories.........they had a chance to put it on Top Gun and Managment (there they go AGAIN!!!!!!!!!) decidd it was not in their best interests to pull it from Turbo. So we have Danger Zone Kenny Loggins instead (which actually is not that bad of a song really).
So i think Priest can't play it because it eats at them inside and brings back bad memories.
I feel Turbo was very under-rated --all those great songs were on there
Locked In--Out In The Cold just to name a few
I think the critics felt it wasn't as heavy as the previous albums but that's what I like about Priest --they change their sound & keep ya guessing what's going to next that it maes ya want to come back for more so to speak.
I enjoy listening to that cd--on a daily basis

Look. The majority of us agree that Nostradamus great cd by Priest and should have a huge amount more attention if it weren't Priest shooting themselves in the foot when it comes to marketing. Example: One of the best tools for marketing is a quality video of your strongest songs followed by playing those songs on tour to support the video thus creating more demand from the fans. JP has not made a quality video since 1990's Painkiller and Touch of Evil,, some 18 years ago. AOR's Revolution(not JP's strongest song on the cd)had a half-ass video of the song "dubbed" over existing concert footage. The best AOR songs = no video + the single "Worth fighting For" = no video.
JP release Nostradamus via the net(good move)but no video! JP release "Visions" as first single-no video, JP make a ok-at-best animated vdeo for "War" (not jp's best song on the cd). Non of these songs or other good songs like "Alone", "Persecution" were played on their tour.. WTF!? For an album that they are soooo proud of you would never know it by how they marketed it. It's almost like a child with so much potential if it weren't neglected.
The "downfall of priest" is not Nostradamus; it's the lack of commonsense marketing of their good material & choice of tour support that have eroaded cd and ticket sells over the last 18 years and brought Priest to a sad place of no more Gold and Platinum albums and sold out shows in the US. let's be honest-Motorhead, Testament, Queensryche(2005) are not up to Priest standards. there are many other, better, young fresh bands who would be better concert draws...
Sorry for the long winded writing but I'm passionate about Priest and their music and equally frustrated by the lack of much deserved success!

Interesting watching these short clips.
#1 Seems like Rob Halford is using his phone for all clips
#2 Must say I am surprised to see them flying on Southwest Airlines (Low cost carrier in U.S.)
2a. But it is a short haul from California
#3 They are not even flying in the front rows!!! They are behind the wings.
3a Southwest does NOT have 1st class section
#4 They money the saved on Flying SW, seems to have gone to the high rollers suit at the Palms in Vegas which is pretty nice.
4a Probably a "comp." room don't you think?
Great to see video "behind the scenes" which is a rare treat. But they are doing more and more over the recent years.
I hate to break the news to you, but from my understanding (someone correct me please) Judas had never played the Hellion live. They have always used a recording.
Sorry for the news...This is business and like the Olympics they must feel it is to important to get it right and not worth messing up.
Honestly that should NOT change your view of them. That in itself is not a hugh thing.
So I went to see JP last nite in Phx, so-so opener Testament, then Motorhead came on & rocked hard. Heaven & Hell put on a good show. But I came to see JP. The show started strong, when they finally hit the older stuff, it was smokin. They I hear the Hellion, which is one of my top 3 JP songs - nobody on the stage? I see KK in one wing & Glenn in the other, neither playing?! WTH! I came to see JP, not Milli Vanilli! I thought I was watching SNL and started looking for Ashlee Simpson, but no, just JP onstage now. As disappointed as I was, it was tough to get through the crowd to get out of there before their recording of that song was over with all the people too drunk or high to notice. If I want to hear recordings, I can do that at home.
Is this too hard for them technically to play live? I can play it, move over, get a third guitarist if you can't handle it.
Anyway, somewhat less of a JP fan now....flame on, I won't be back here to see the responses...
Thanks JayDee - I could tell from the moment we posted you are a true armchair producer/coach!!!
I am not even concerned with the lack of Nostradamus content regarding the current setlist.
I agree with the other poster that made the comment about KK stating "not to play too much new content" because fans eyes will glaze over.
That is accurate and holds a lot of merit.
I like it a lot, and it has some "strong winners" (In my opinion), some "solid songs" (In my opinion) and one or two that are "fair fillers" (In my opinion).
Nothing I strongly dislike.
I can understand if someone is a NOT DIE HARD FAN this would be a divisive album.
(Not me though, after all I am the die hard fan. Any Priest/Fight/Halford is worth it)
This album stands on it's own merits apart from other albums in SOME WAYS because of it's THEME.
However I don't totally buy into the fact that you cannot compair it to other albums entirely.
In other ways you can compair it to other Priest albums, because it is a Priest album in itself.
That is like saying you cannot compair sports teams season after season, of course you can.
True each season is different, but you sometimes discuss lineups and how each lineup compairs to the "current lineup" - and you are not even being critical when you do so.
But again I can understand why this album could make two sides.
Who ever started this thread about "downfall crap" perhaps is not a die hard fan; and I encourage people to stop posting on it so it will have it's own downfall.
I think we sould have a new thread that is more "global" away from this one album called:
I'd like to thank Masi73 for the post.
I've never thought of myself as an 'armchair producer', - but I like the backhanded compliment.
Masi73 I see you are from Miami and currently in Iraq.
(My brother-in-law just returned - he is a sergeant from the 133rd Engineering Division)
I am a diehard Priest fan.
90% of my audio listening time is spent with Priest (incl Halford & Fight) the rest misc Heavy Metal. Yet I do not feel Priest is infallible. ('absence of error' or to the 'inability to err')
Nor do I feel any Company, Government, Sports team is infallible. They can all make mistakes and have lapses in judgment. OR make decisions that could have been avoided. But it does not change my support. Yes I am opinionated. So isn't everyone on this board including you. There is nothing wrong with that at all. If you think about it, I we were not opinionated Otherwise we would not have message boards.Being from the U.S. you will understand this analogy:
I live in the New England Area. We have three sports teams that have done very well recently.
The New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics.
When a bunch people FANS get together to watch a game do they ever shout out at the TV?
Do they ever yell at the TV screen in disbelief that a quarterback or coach made a call that 'clearly was not going to work’?
Of course. It would seem ridiculous that FANS would get together then watch a game in pure silence without voicing their armchair coaching thoughts to the TV.
We all have done it during a sporting event.
Does that change our loyalty? NOT AT ALL!
In fact it shows that we are rooting them on. Cheering them for their success.
The Patriots had a near perfect record (Like your Dolphins did years ago). Do you think during the season fans didn't yell at players on TV when they made bad decisions?
It is actually a show of support.
The same as when people make opinionated comments about Judas Priest and their directions.
It is a verbal show that we want the band to gain fans base and gain more recognition. - But doesn't change our support.
You and I don't know if was skimping on money.
It could have just been a "personal fulfillment goal" to produce their own album.
Regardless, when you have a critically accaimed project like PAINKILLER (that seems to get MORE respect as time goes on), wouldn't you repeat the same formula?
Perhaps they couldn't get along with Chris?
I remember an inteview on Behind the music with Def Leppard and they said they dreaded working with Mutt Lang - but they did it anyway and look at the sales result and quality result in the end.
Either way (regardless of producer - which is not my biggest beef here) what they "push" to the public is always "against the grain". They become their own worst enemy from a marketiing stand point.
I am a DIE HARD FAN. I will listen to everything and admire them and their work - they don't have to win ME over on each album.
I am rooting for them to be bigger, and to attract those that are on the fence or not even fans at all.
Sometimes THEY close that door themselves with their marketing ideas.
(These could be outside decisions - perhaps out of their control - I don't know)
Edited at: Saturday, July 26, 2008 4:19:03 PM Edited at: Saturday, July 26, 2008 4:21:00 PM
You are correct on much of your post. I am a die hard fan would love to see them bigger and more popular then they are/have been.
Some things they do make me scratch my head.
I don't know if it is their marketing company (like Jayne Andrews)? or them personally.
From my understanding they have been with her/marketing manager for years.
There sometimes(not always) is some benefit in swtiching "vendors" from time to time to get a fresh perspective on your business. (Painkiller producer speaks for itself)
And remember this is a business.
I know most people don't want to think that way since it takes some fun emotion out of it, but if you have seen interviews from any rock band or performer, they will always tell you in interviews at some point you have to 'grow up'{paraphrased} and treat it like a business.
Again, though some things they do make me scratch my head.
The singles they have always picked seem to be off the mark compared to other GREAT options on the albums - and this is an on going issue for them
(Revolution vs. Deal w/Devil or Demonizer)
(Not pushing RecklessOut in the Cold from Turbo)
(Pushing WAR to the MTV world (which the song is just ok "a 5/10" - the video sucks) vs. Alone or Persecution)
(Not releasing a second Video off Ram it Down - like Heavy Metal) (BTW - I like Johnny B. Goode, but it was not enough from the album)
(Don't go video vs. Desert Plains)
Most people do not think the same way business promotors and business people think. Judas Priest, managemnt and promotors are business people.
The reason they are playing so few US dates is because of the current value of the US Dollar. They can make significantly more money by playing in other countries.
Notice the limited US dates. Versus those in the EU.
If you listen to the remasters version of SFV on Priest...Live I swear they used the Memphis cut of SFV and NOT a recordng from the Fuel for Life Tour.
You are 100% accurate. I have thought this from the first day i heard the CD.
Also a few other comments i have been thinking about:
#1 Pestilence and Plague is a great song....but I think it is either it is in the wrong place. Wht i mean is it is too "positive" sounding. Don't get me wrong I love the song, but it sounds so "uppy" considering the subject matter. I think P&P should have another "darker" sound like Death and War. Again I like the sound but each time I listen i forget we are talking about the 3(of 4) horsemen of apocolypse - I guess I feel too good listing to P&P subject matter.
#2 STOP the WAR VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't do this to yourselves Priest. Fire the company the produced it. Make it against the law to ever view that video again.
#3 Alone truly a great song - VERY Emotional.
More to come Edited at: Thursday, July 17, 2008 5:18:06 PM
This is my second post ever. (First being on June 22nd in this thread).
As i stated in my first post they have done this for a bigger purpose then most of us are seeing. Re-read my first post and Rob's comments will now make sense.
This was posted in the "Around the Horn" thread today:
"Encouraged to imagine himself gazing into a crystal ball on the cover of the latest issue of Decibel Magazine (seen below), Halford said, "I do predict that Nostradamus' is going to be embraced. I can see it being performed by Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas. I think I can also se a Grammy in there."
In my original post I should have stated Las Vegas instead of Broadway show.
This is my first ever post. I have been lurking this site for years (since its beginning) and signed up two years ago but never posted to a topic yet.
I believe (for right or wrong/good or bad) JP has set up this release perfectly for a future Broadway production. (Again I am not posting my personal opinion if they should or not).
It just makes sense.
Act 1 and Act 2
A complete story of an individual
A very good basis for a story
It has both Rock and widely accepted NON-rock elements (orchestra & symphony) that the masses would accept
It could be a final production for them (who knows?)
IT has been done before:
Mama Mia / Abba (which was very good BTW - and that's coming from a Heavy Metal fan) Moving out / Billy Joel (I did not see)
This could be done years from now, perhaps after they retire or even pass away.
Maybe they would do it in their retirement
Think about it.
BTW Mamma Mia! is now upto $2Billion world wide in gross revenue. That's right $2Billion from a foundation based on a music group.
