I was wondering the same thing myself. I guess if they are only playing Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, (nothing in between), then Toronto, Montreal, & Quebec City, they might as well be on the US tour. The worst part is, I don't see Minneapolis on the list either, so it's a looooong road trip for a show from any of us in central Canada. Never thought I'd miss a tour.

| Halford played an awesome live show when they were here last November! I would have loved to have heard Till The Day I Die live, since it's the most amazing song I've heard in a very long time. Regarding Rob, can anyone suggest a good first Fight cd? I've only heard a couple of songs, and love Just A Little Crazy, but I'd like to buy a cd and am not sure which one to go with first. Any suggestions? |

Love you guys, thanks for the awesome decades of Priest songs! Can't wait to see you in concert again! I, like many fans, am still hoping that you will put out one last hard rocking cd of classic Priest. Not sure what happened this year, that you are doing a farewell tour and no new cd, but I'll enjoy what I can, and I respect your decision. And by the way, I liked Nostradamus,it's had many plays on my iPod. I would have liked to have heard more of those songs live, since there are many gems on there, but maybe you took to heart the negative comments on here. Keep in mind, many liked it too. In searching Rob and opera, I came across this interesting article. The author sent 5 anonymous songs to a classically trained vocal teacher in New York, to have her analyze the singers. Rob of course is one of them, and it's interesting to see which song they picked and what she thought of it. It's always been my favorite song, so I was interested to hear her take on his vocals. She didn't tell us anything we didn't already know, though. That Rob is an amazing vocalist, and has a shockingly spectacular range & variety in his singing. I never get bored listening to him, whether it be Priest, Halford, 2wo, Fight or Christmas tunes! Thanks for sharing your gift with us Rob! I just saw Rob last weekend with Halford opening for Ozzy. It was AWESOME!!! Rob's pipes sounded great and I would definitely go see them again, if they toured by here. As for the Opera topic, regarding Rob, I had heard three of our best metal vocalists were talking (or joking) about doing something like the Three Tenors, except it was Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson and Geoff Tate, and they were going to call themselves The Three Tremors. I thought that would be great, and I would go see them, of course! Too funny. |

Last night I saw Halford opening for Ozzy! What a great concert!! Rob was in fine form, and played Made of Metal, Fire & Ice and Like There's No Tomorrow from the new cd. He also sang Green Manalishi, Diamonds and Rust and Jawbreaker, which are all awesome! It was so nice to see that band play, especially since Priest are on hiatus. Ozzy was his usual crazy self and sprayed foam on the audience whatever chance he could. All in all, a great show, and I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE PRIEST HERE!!! \m/ \m/ Thanks Rob for a great show! |

| "Till the day I die" is the best song on this cd. LOVE it! I haven't given the rest much of a chance because of it. Made of Metal is a good song musically, but I agree, the lyrics are a little elementary. I hope to hear my fave at the show next month. |

OK then! I have made my statement on the matter. What is acceptable and what is proper are far different things, depending on whom it is to which you are speaking.....HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I totally agree with you, and I was just being silly . It's sickening who gets nominated and who the powers that be tell us we should like, even though they did not create the music themselves, or likely even write their own songs. That's the way of music today it seems. The real musicians, like Priest, seem to get overlooked time and again. I don't care. I love them anyway, and always will. I listen to their songs and am amazed at their talent.  I just think it's incredible you get to create your own music too and share it live. Enjoy it! I just wish I could sing. I'm a tad jealous!

And although I and many others have said the band members are not 40 anymore as they are almost 60,they still play Painkiller live,so why can't they create an album that is as heavy as Painkiller??? They can,and I really think that they will this time around.They are tired of reading and hearing that they are too old ect...they will have something to prove this time,and history shows that they have kicked ass after an experimental record,so its crunch time this year in the studio...they will be delivering a bold faced red blooded british metal album and prove once again why they are the ultimate masters in the art of heavy metal!!!!!

The song Nostradamus blew me away too. What a great song. I am soo looking forward to a solid british metal album. But I agree with you JT, there is no excuse for not taking out a few minutes from at least one of the 5 boys and updating the diehard fans or even saying hi. I just hope that means they are hard at work in the studio now that the holidays are over! But to tide me over, I've discovered "All Fired Up" on Turbo's re-masters as the bonus track. What a great song! I'd like to hear something like that on the new album! ALL FIRED UP!

I did take him to a music store before Christmas and he was kind of mesmerized by all the stuff in there. He did get a kick out of trying out the drum kits, but they were adult size. It's good that you got your son a real kit, because I think people waste their money on those ones from the toy store. They're not nearly sturdy enough for a kid to pound on. The only drumming we've done here is on Guitar Hero World Tour. It gives him a bit of an idea of what it's all about. I'd like the boys to learn real instruments though. Thanks a lot for the advice. I think I'll sign him up for some lessons and rent a kit to see how it goes. HAVE A GREAT DAY METALHEADS!

The car was a total write off and it took me a few years to get the courage up to drive again. Once I got back behind the wheel, I was pretty nervous for a while but in time, it did go. I'm much more careful now and much calmer. Give her time, don't pressure her to talk about it but be there for her when she needs to talk about it.

No walking in with them, carrying their backpacks for them or even carrying the kid into school.. which is pretty much what I did at their old school lol. So this morning, we get to school, they grab their backpacks, barely notice I'm there waiting for my kiss and are clampering into the school all full of wonder and excitement.. Had to steal a kiss on their cheeks as they rushed past me lol.
Omg! I've turned into one of those mothers who cope less with new school changes than the children do lol. |

| Super favorite album, Defenders of the Faith. It was also my first intro to Priest. I was scarred forever. (But also love Sad Wings, Screaming, Nostradamus, and everything else they do!) Least favorite, but will listen to it occasionally, is Turbo. I'm trying to collect the Re-masters cds (I have all the vinyl, which I can't play due to a lack of a working player,) and just got Turbo in the mail. Holy crap. I can't even describe the cheesy lyrics. And I seriously can't listen to all of Parental Guidance. I tried, but it was...just...so....cheeeezy!!! Yes I know it was "the era", but COME ON. I think if hey had written those songs for some other american hair metal band, they might have been somewhat successful, but this didn't fit Priest at all. I like Turbo Lover and some other assorted songs, but there are some un-Priest-like ones on there. But for what's it worth, I discovered a new one on there, which is the bonus track All Fired Up. A-W-E-S-O-M-E!! Priest's 'Ace of Spades'. What a great little gem! I can't stop listening to it! I'd love to hear it live. |

I too agree with DF. I drifted after Painkiller. Though I liked it, I was going in a little different direction at the time and drifted musically. I didn't pick up the Ripper era cds because I liked Rob's voice. Does that make me a bad fan? It's hardly fair to the other 4 who continued on. There was just a little something tasty missing in the musical mix for me, and I guess that was Rob's contribution. Since AOR, I have listened to some of Jugulator and Demolition, and really like Hell is Home, and Cathedral Spires, but to date, still haven't picked up either cd. Which would you recommend? I'm working my way through the Re-masters and am getting a kick out of some of the additional songs! It's like getting something old, but it's new to me. My number one pick for which album to buy, is Defenders of the Faith, and 2nd, Sad Wings of Destiny. Love'em both!

Happy metal new year to you all! It's nice to see people are sounding generally happy. That's cool! As for those complaining about the weather, I would really like to feel bad for you, but here at home in the Great White North, it has warmed up to 3.2'F. Warmed up. That's right. It was frightfully frigid between Christmas and New Year, around the -18'F range, without the windchill. BRRRRRRRRR!!! I feel cold just talking about it, and I'm sitting here in long underwear. And I doubt I would survive without my block heater and interior car warmer. It cuts the chill in the van a bit, and keeps my Priest CDs working.  |

Hey Hellrider, I checked out the Grammy website and it says the Awards are on CBS on January 31st at 8pm (ET/PT). I really really really hope Priest wins. SERIOUSLY!!!!! I think Slayer might give them a run but I doubt the others will. But yeah, if Jethro Tull can win that damn category, who the hell knows which direction this will go. DISSIDENT AGGRESSOR!!! You're right Dale. It's nice to know that Priest or any of the members of the band, haven't stopped evolving and haven't gotten soft with their sound over the years. Can you believe they've been around as long as they have?! Nothing makes me happier than my favorite band/musicians still making new music and still touring. I love'em!!

I work very hard to deliver my end of the bargain, as it were. Each opportunity is another chance for me to create. I have so much music in my head that it actually goes on an on all the time! I hear it everywhere. Kind of like what you said before about finding music in everyday life. It s there for me.
You hit the nail on the head though, man. Tecchnology has really opened some doors for musicians. Its incredible. It really is.

Most of you are aware of the tremendous success I had with a recent collaboration song over on AcidPlanet. The gentleman I worked with over there is a "heavy weight" on that site, apparently. Anyway, the song (Drive Home) was so well received and stayed at number ONE for SEVEN straight days, that I was contacted by TWO other bands to do similar projects!! I just finished writing and recording a song with a band that is in GERMANY!!!! (That's right, Michael!! HA!!) They are called "Wildering Sheep". They do more "Alternative/Progessive" Rock but they do have some heavier material.
Anyway, as is usually the case, I received a song file and was asked to write a melody and lyrics for it, which I did. I finished the recording yesterday and sent it off to the guy that is doing the production. The song is a bit of a departure for me, as it is not really straight forward "Rock". Has more of an Alternative feel to it. The guy that wrote it sent me an e-mail telling me about how he wrote the song after a break-up with a young lady on their way to an exhibit in a town in Germany called "Welten". Naturally, the song is called Welten and I wrote a sort of "break-up" tune for it.
When it is completed, I will let you all know. It is SO very exciting to work with other musicians, especially those from other countries! I am starting today on the second song. This is with another group based here in the States. It will be a much more "Rock and Roll" song with a heavier sound. All very cool and just SO much fun!!! |

Yes I agree Hellrider. I would just like to see them get true recognition for all their years of hard rockin'! It's still pretty amazing after pushing 40 years of metal mayhem, Judas Priest is getting mentioned/nominated for a Grammy! That's quite something. Way to go boys, you've earned it!

| Yay, Priest have been nominated again for a Grammy! I wonder if they'll get recognized this time, for the many decades of music they've put out. It's unfortunate that there is only one real "metal" catogory. It makes it near impossible to truly honor the many bands and types of metal that are out there. When the generic "Rock" category includes Rock, Hard Rock, and Metal, it's hard to compete with the Linkin Park's of the world and the popularity of their type of music. Look at the sheer number of catogories for Pop music! Best vocal, best male vocal, best female vocal, best duet, best album, best song, best haircut, best barely there outfit, etc, etc, ad nauseum. Well to h*ll with them all, I'm cheering for Priest! Dissident Aggressor is an awesome song! |

Oh Holy Night sounded cheesy when I listened to it initially, but the more I listen to it, the more I like it's lilting quality. It's a good sing-a-long! I don't find We Three Kings dreary at all and it's one of my favorite songs. I love Get Into The Spirit, and Emmanuel too. Great songs! In general, the more I listen to the cd, the more I am enjoying it. Especially since it's looking a little more like Christmas around here. I appreciate not being forced to listen to pop or (shudder) country Christmas songs.

Defenders was my first foray into the Priest world, and it is one of my most listened to cds. I kind of compare everything to that, because that to me is classic Priest. I am still ecstatic that once I discovered them, I had this whole crazy catalogue to wade through! I am also grateful that I have had so many new Priest albums to get to know since then. Not too many people can say that about their favorite bands. I can't speak for everyone on the forum, but ultimately, I like the variety in their discography. I do like Nostradamus, but I agree that this would be the time, if ever, for them to put out a serious british metal offering. I would love to see something along the lines of Defenders of the Faith mixed with Angel of Retribution. And I don't think the other 4 members of Priest would appreciate being lumped in with the Winter Songs thing. That was a Halford deal, something Rob wanted to cross off his bucket list. I just think that doing the British Steel revival tour right after releasing a new album, was bad timing. I think a short Nostradamus tour to promote their new material and a summer British Steel tour would have made more sense, but hey, I'm not in the music industry, what do I know. I just hope to hear something awesome before they hang up their axes.

That's funny you should say that. TSO was just here and I just bought the cd with Wizards in Winter on it for my obsessed boys! I've had quite a few listens of Winter Songs now too, and there's one more song on there that reminds me of something else. It has a similar vibe to Billy Idol's "Yellin' at the Christmas Tree" off of Devil's Playground. I also have difficulty with the tinkling from Holy Night. Maybe some more listens and I'll get over it. My faves are still Get Into The Spirit and my all time favorite and kick*ss version of We Three Kings. I wish he sang at my church. Maybe Rob, Bruce Dickinson and Geoff Tate will do their Three Tremors cd/tour idea one day. That would be crazy! Three phenomenal singers together making some beautiful operatic metal.

Yes, it's definitely nice to be able to listen to something online or YouTube, to give you an idea of the direction of the music. That's how I found I liked some of Rob's 2wo stuff. I really like I Am A Pig and I love Deep In The Ground. I still have Fight in my back pocket, for when I feel I need something new or different from my favorite vocalist. Haven't quite gotten into that yet. On the other hand, I didn't need to think twice about Halford - Resurrection. I picked that up the minute I saw it & loved it. Same goes with anything Priest. I do think they like the artistic freedom of trying new things. Despite the fact that some fans don't like it. It's just the way it goes. At the end of the day, they have to enjoy the songs they're playing, otherwise it's a long tour.

If you really think about it HRMG, Priest are rather insidious. By creating a library of music that has a feel for all seasons and occasions, they've essentially created a one-man-show. Why listen to any other band when you can get it all here? How funny is that?! These guys are evil geniuses! I still like listening to other types of music (classical, techno, industrial, etc, but not country, unless it's old style like Marty Robbins), but putting anything Priest in the cd player, and it's like coming home. It fills my soul with peace.

I agree with you on this one. Iron Maiden and Metallica both sold out their concerts here, but Priest didn't. I don't get that. But there you have it.

I am hearing your vibe brother! I agree that Turbo is no Painkiller, but it fit the era at the time, which was California hair metal. Hmm...What was big back then. Motley Crue, Poison, Ratt, Cinderella, etc. That was the mood. I like quite a few songs on Turbo, but I definitely saw it going in a different direction than Defenders of the Faith. (Which is my all time favorite Priest offering. Probably due to it being my first.) As for Halford, he has put out some phenomenal music with his solo band. I have to say I am incredibly disappointed that Judas Priest listened too closely to the complainers of Nostradamus and in the end barely played a single thing off their new album, which they poured months of work and soul into, then kept it in a drawer. ??? I am feeling let down that they couldn't even play the song Nostradamus, (or Alone or Persecution) live. Such awesome powerful songs, and to think I may never hear it live. I apologize, none of this has anything to do with this topic. P.S. I am thrilled to be having a metal Christmas. Thanks Rob!

Everyone has a place in their heart for songs such as 'The Final Countdown' and 'Don't stop me now' by Queen etc why should 'Parental Guidance' be any different. 'Locked In' is one of the most uplifting tracks that Halford and the boys have ever come up with in my opinion and Out in the Cold is damn right awesome. When i hear Locked in it i get a feeling that i don't often get from Priest and it's just a sheer sense of happiness and excitement. Obviously all of their albums induce something within me whether it be aggression or anger etc and they put me in head banging mode but Turbo is different (except for the Private Property intro). It induces a totally different feeling but one that i still like. I think if it had been by a different band (one of the mainstream) then people would have loved it but beacuase it was by the studded metal rockers, people hate it. I think if bands can go outside their box and create something better than another band could have done of their own genre, then hell they deserve a pat on the back. Turbo is one of the best pop rock albums i've ever heard it may have failed at being a metal album but it succeeded on a whole new level. I can't leave without mentioning Reckless as i think it is trully the major stand out song of the album and something that could have easily went on Screaming For Vengeance, the guitar solo, the heavy riff and the vocals are just genius. As for POE well i think it failed as a metal album and didn't really succeed on many other levels although there are some great old British Steel standouts on there!
As for Halford stuff i believe that one day we will get another Halford metal album, after all if what you said is true J.D, Christmas 2010 aint for another year yet and Prest aint gonna be touring for a while. I believe Halford will do something more cause the music he has produced so far in that band has been outstanding and that is what the metal world is crying out for right now, Halford just needs to hear those cries =) |

What do you think of Sun on Crucible? That is the gem on that cd. I don't know what it is about that song, but it's spectacular. And he doesn't scream during any of it, it's pure singing and carrying a note. I just LOVE it. Definitely on my list of Top 10 Favorite Songs EVER. (I even tricked my husband into liking it by playing it, and THEN telling him who it was! Heehee!) I can't say much about the Ripper era, since I drifted a bit musically during that turbulent time. I do however like Hell is Home quite a bit, and Ripper definitely has pipes. But there's just something about Rob. He doesn't imitate anyone and he's got voices within voices. I met him once after the Painkiller concert, and he was a sweet gentleman! While giving him a hug, I took a deep sniff of his leathers! Good times.. Back to Winter Songs, I love their version of We Three Kings, it ROCKS! And Get Into The Spirit KICKS! I am deee-lighted to have METAL for Christmas and during our frigid ridiculous winters. I am disappointed that the 3 released songs were removed from YouTube, because now I have to wait until next week to hear the songs when I buy the first copy of Winter Songs! Old people, stay out of my way! I will knock you over.

| I first heard of them via Guitar Hero III and Our Truth. I just loved playing it, and it's the only one I can play on Hard. It's fairly simple but the vocals and timing are amazing & mesmerizing. They're actually coming here this Friday, but I have to work. Boo....Had it off, but had to switch to go to Anaheim the following week. Anything good to do there? (Besides Disney.) |

I was listening to it on the way to work 2 days ago, and I swear, it was like some great opera, with soft bits, rising to crescendo, going crazy and bringing it back down again. It was truly glorious. I really felt like I could put in those 10 hours after that. Well not entirely. I would have preferred 5 hours and going home early with the Priest blaring.
