It has come to my attention that this thread has needed attention! I have been very busy as of late so I would like to bequeath the birthday posting duties to the beautiful, intelligent, rocking Vailant 3.0 a/k/a "Vail" I trust she will do well here posting birthdays of past and present Judas Priest fans and band members. She is quite deserving and trusted for such a challenge and the upkeep of it. Please, if your birthday is not on the list, please contact Vailant 3.0, she will add you to it! Vail, good luck, happy posting and rock on metalheads! Edited at: Sunday, August 18, 2013 10:39:07 PM |

I have been pretty quiet here regarding this subject. I love ALL of the guys in this band. I do not know the specifics of what went on and I would hate to speculate on it. I do know that KK Downing is a wonderful person and I wish him nothing but the best. I already miss him terribly. As for Richie Faulkner I will give him a chance, he is giving me the chance to still see this awesome band. No, it will definately not be the same but I will still be happy to hear the other guys and see the other guys. |

Kroman, I agree with you on what you have said except I really liked AOR and loved Nostrodamus. Priest are artists and have always marched to the beat of their own drum. It was different and really quite beautiful. Give it another listen with an open mind and listen from start to finish. A great story really. Priest are more than musicians, they are artists, storytellers. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Kroman from Sunday, January 02, 2011 7:24:16 PM) | | Kroman wrote: | | I didn't like Nostradamus or AOR. There are a couple of songs on each of these albums that I do like but overall they haven't been a cd that I could put in my truck and jam all the through without hitting skip. Despite that, I don't feel any betrayal here. You might but I don't see it. If they truly wanted to screw the fans then they wouldn't even bother with another world tour. These guys have been doing it for fourty years and I've got to believe that would wear on anybody overtime. I think they deserve the benefit of the doubt and I wish them nothing but the best. I've enjoying jamming to Judas Priest for 30 years and I have enjoyed all their albums from Rocka Rolla through Painkiller. I've seen them three times (Once with Ripper) and I get to see them a fourth time. Life is good. | | Budred wrote: | | I don't think too many people are criticizing their desire to call it a day, I think people are pissed because of the way
Priest are betraying their fans. If you support a band and afford them a lavish lifestyle then why is it too much to expect
a new album before they quit. They release Nostradamus and alienate half their fans, then they leave us hanging for
three years with a teaser of a big announcement. Everyone comes online and sees the new site design and announcement
and instantly get excited thinking here it is only to be kicked in the gut with the we'll take your money but we won't give
you anything but a final tour for it. You can be happy for them but don't think because you are everyone else should be too.
If Nostradamus is the best they can do then maybe no new album is a good thing. | | Kroman wrote: | | I don't post much on this site but I do visit from time to time and read comments. Each member, except Scott, are either in their 60's or approaching 60. Has anybody thought about the fact that maybe they all agreed that it was time to focus on other things in life that, at this stage, are probably more important to them? This stuff about KK running the band, or Glenn possibly having cancer is a bunch of crap. You all should feel lucky they have enough mojo to go on another tour, regardless if there is a new album or not, and you have another opportunity to see them.
Life goes on people. Yeah they won't be touring anymore but that's their choice and they deserve to make that choice without the childish, selfish criticism I've read from a "few" posters in this thread. Be happy for them. One benefit I see already is if they shut down the website then you won't have to read anymore bullshit posts from JD Diamond. |

True Guido, but he did co-write one of their best....."Victim of Changes" - a pretty darn good one.
Ron, I think I agree with what you have said. Also, I do feel a lot of anger here. Let's not forget how very fortunate we have been for even being given the chance to see these guys on tour at all and for getting any new material since Painkiller with Rob. I have stated over the years that I feel extremely lucky to have had the chance to see Judas Priest live again so many years later. I can remember seeing them as a teenager in the 80's. We are all very lucky you guys. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Thursday, December 30, 2010 1:37:03 PM) | | guidogodoy wrote: | | Oh hell no! That stooge is too busy trying to milk the Priest name by CO-writing a book about a couple of songs that he CO-"penned." LOL!
www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx
That and all the fine work he is producing with Dave Holland wouldn't allow him to give 1000% and produce an album with real Brian "swagger." HAAAA! | | Head banger wrote: | | ok, not another one. bring back.....atkins. HA! | | guidogodoy wrote: | | Priest with another new singer? Oh HELL NO! THAT to me would be the final insult.
As for the health theory (hope not), it is interesting and one I hadn't thought of before. Way I see it, health being the cause or not, the "break" here is Glenn. I see KK active, most certainly Rob, Scott and, sad as it is, I would even say that they would record and even tour without Ian. If Glenn was on board, that is, and I say that he is not. | | ron h wrote: | | There are several things I'd bet my last dollar on...
When the band played it's last set together, none of them thought it would be there last (not counting the farewell tour).
There's a health issue with one of the members.
KK would love nothing more than to be in the studio recording another Priest album.
Rob releasing a new solo album and going on two different tours now were the final nails in the Priest coffin.
To me, this reeks of the same stench that separated the band in the early 90's. I get that KK is still young enough to keep going, but he's the youngest of the main four and it takes ALL of them to pull Priest off no matter what KK wants. Do we want to see Priest continue with a different singer again? I don't!!
I'm glad they're doing a final tour even though it comes without a new release, this way I can say goodbye if I choose and as many times as I choose. I refuse to let the final years ruin 30+ years for me. I didn't get this chance in '92 or whatever year it was. If new Metalheads can't figure out what happend at the end, oh well, we don't get it either but it's not our choice. Our choice is to give them the respect they've earned or not to.
I don't blame anyone for being pissed off and lashing out under the circumstances. Some of the most interesting posts are the ones that are written off the cuff based purely on emotion. But in my world, when the fog lifts, I love Judas Priest and I'll support them to the end. It's the least I can do for all that they've given me in my lifetime. |

This list is kind of long but I would love it if they played ANY of the following (my favorite tracks including something from almost every album):
ROCKA ROLLA
DIAMOND & RUST
VICTIM OF CHANGES
EPITAPH
SINNER
DISSADENT AGRESSOR
STAINED CLASS
BEYOND THE REALMS OF DEATH
HEROES END
DELIVERING THE GOODS
HELL BENT FOR LEATHER
BURNING UP
BEFORE THE DAWN
RAPID FIRE
HOT ROCKIN'
HEADING OUT TO THE HIGHWAY
RIDING ON THE WIND
FEVER
FREEWHEEL BURNING
THE SENTINAL
EAT ME ALIVE
TURBO LOVER
BLOOD RED SKIES
PAINKILLER
TOUCH OF EVIL
HELLRIDER
DEMONIZER
WORTH FIGHTING FOR
ANGEL
REVELATIONS
PERSECUTION
I woud think METAL GODS would be appropriate to close
All of these songs really rock or they are just plain beautiful. I think I would cry if they played "Here Come the Tears" which is a big favorite.

JP Management: Priest will keep going!!!
It's obviously offically: "This is the end of Judas Priest doing major world tours – but not the end of the band, thank Heaven." Those for Fans redeeming words said a speecher from the JP Management. The Band is just tired to do World Tours. Priest will keep going anyhow...

I am sad that you feel the way you do because obviously you are an early (older) fan as I am. I feel a lot differently though than you do. The guys released "Angel of Retribution" and "Nostradmus", maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but personally I loved these releases. I think Nostradamus is a masterpiece. These two releases remind me of their earlier stuff only better! Unfortunately the US, at least does not appreciate metal the way we used to so the kids aren't buying it up the way we used to. The guys in Priest gave us so many wonderful years of diverse music. We are very lucky to have the chance to still go and see them. It is your choice if you don't want to see them but really I think you may (or may not) regret it.
I got the chance to see them on their last couple of tours and I must say it was a wonderful experience. They still have it and they always put a smile on my face. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Rob Ward from Saturday, December 11, 2010 8:29:36 AM) | | Rob Ward wrote: | | They are obviously retiring because they've become senile because the way it works is, you record an album then you go on tour and support it. I'm sick of bands re-releasing old material in a new package and calling it "new." Then they announce a farewell tour to rob their fans of any final cash they can get.
I'm with those fans that think the last years of Priest have been their worst. I'd go back and say the last good priest album was Painkiller, everything since then is either horribly bad especially the Owens albums or just ok (A.O.R).
It's probably just as well because I had already made up my mind that if they recorded another death metal album that I wasn't going to buy it or go to the concert, BTW I didn’t buy Nostradamus. Priest was my favorite band since 1978 when I first heard Green Manalishi, but towards the end of their career it was obvious that the direction they went in left me behind. I don't think it's Halford because I like his solo stuff, so I think it's probably Glenn and K.K. making the decisions in this band. I'm not going to the farewell tour because I've pretty much lost interest in them years ago, but it's sad for me because I'd always hoped that they would come full circle and write more classic stuff and go out that way. But this just proves that Judas Priest left me behind and in the end they were not my favorite band... |

Well, I am glad Randy is gone too. It seems he pretty much threw that last game against his old team. Only in dreams that match up worked I guess. Now that Brett has had the snot banged out of him let's see how the rest of the year plays out. JD, I am with you that I wanted to see Brett come back this year but to suck this bad? I did not want to see that. His Dad always told him "don't come off that field until you are carried off" It looks like that is what will happen. BTW, Jen Sterger looks a lot like Deanna Favre. |

J.D., Ron, Hellriderrrrrr,
I am a little upset with Brett at the moment. He dug this hole. It was a great game on Monday but now Brett supposedly has two fractured ankles, two! Randy must not be very happy right now. Though he could try to make Tavaris look good because it looks like Tavaris will be starting. I have never said this before but I think Brett may be done. He has NEVER had to face not starting a game before. This might be the emotional downfall. Of course, he may need a distraction from that whole sexting scandal. |

Well J.D., honestly the way this season has started out....I will take any wins . Why not go out "All Guns Blazing"? It is something I think we all wanted to see "Favre to Moss", I just hope to see something spectacular and not a flop. I know it could go either way. I love Brett but I know now is the time to put up or shut up. He has wanted Moss for quite a while, now he has him. They both better show up on Monday. I sure hope I'm wrong here because if they go 3-5 chances are they will end up 9-7 and miss the playoffs, lets see what they will do with Moss. Chalk up a loss already for Monday night because even if Moss plays I don't think they can beat the New York Jets in New York,I just can't see it Jeanine but again,I sure hope I'm wrong because I want the Vikings to win! | | Jeanine wrote: | | Jeanine is happy today.....I am hoping Minnesota's gamble will be a good one. |

Hey Vail, you know I love ya, but that Alien thing in which you speak is Eddie . Being one who loves both bands I will say this, it is my firm belief that Iron Maiden has a cult following much like Deadheads (Grateful Dead) or even the Dave Matthews Band. The day the album was released I walked into a bookstore to look for a map of the city. Then I stumbled upon all the magazines that you mentioned: Metal Hammer, Metal Shock, Rock Hard... all with Iron Maiden and that alien thing on the cover. A little too much, like you said. AND there was an Iron Maiden poster up on one of the display windows. I bought and listened to the album the next day and did not like it at all. Then later that month there were IM posters up all over one corner of a street near my apartment, so seeing that alien thing up everyday while walking to the U-Bahn was irritating. | | metallo wrote: | | Maybe you're right, it's too much, but I can assure you that to hear many people talking about Heavy Metal and talking only about Iron Miden (itìs not a mistake), to go to the newspaper kiosk and see Metal Hammer with Iron Maiden in the cover, then Metal Shock with Iron Maiden in the cover, the Hard & Heavy (or something like this) with Iron MAiden poster, and all in the same period is too much. Yes maybe it's for the new album but it happens also in other occasions. When I saw on TV to present all Iron MAiden CD to be sold on newspaepr kiosks, was the maximum. You're right, I don't want to say that bruce is a bad singer, not at all, I just want to say that I don't like his way of singing also knowing he is a great singer and Iron Maiden is a great Metal group, in general, but is something stronger than me, I never went to see a concert of them, and the last album I bought was killers. I really don't like 'the number of the beast'. Maybe something good in Powerslave. It's only my opinion, but I grew up, here in Italy, where you can see 100 metal kids, and 95 have maidens t-shirt, three have Metallica, and two carcass, then me with Judas Priest. Here in Italy if some one talk about HM, only one group is mentioned: Iron Maiden. People which usually do not listen metal, knows Maidens. If you go to a newspaper kiosk you can buy all Maiden's discography. STOP !!!! Maybe it's not for them, but for the other. All of them made me hate Iron Maiden.

Seems kind of weird that you don't like Maiden after Bruce joined. I just don't see them where their at now with Paul Di'Anno. It's hard to imagine Paul singing songs from Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind, Powerslave, ect. Bruce can sing the Paul Di'Anno era but I can't see Paul singing much from The Bruce Dickinson era.

It's really quite boring this discussion about JP and IM. I'm 100% for priest, I don't like IM, sice Bruce Dickinson joined the band, or better, sice Paul Di Anno 'has' left the band, but at last they sold millions of albums world wide, every concert if full of fans, maybe somthing good came also from them, also if I have great difficulty to find it, but we have to give to everybody the chance to grow up. Starting from the music of Iron Maiden it should be good for reach perfection with Judas Priest!!!! Only few elected people had the chance to start immediately with Judas priest, just because we have already reached perfection, someone esle has to walk and walk and walk, so let them listen IM, it is the first step and evry wlaking start from the first step. |
