Folks. It's been quite a while. I have sad news to report. Our dear old friend, Deep Freeze/Mike Berentsen has passed away from complications due to COVID. He passed away yesterday, 5/23/25. If you knew him via Facebook, Mychal Freeze is his name there, then please go and pay your respects to, arguably, this forums patriarch. ❤️

Hey Peeps... Any word on whether there is going to be a 2nd leg thru the US?? I missed them this last time around and would love to see them 1 last time. Would love to see them at Wacken with Queensryche and Epica and all the others but who can afford that!!

No, I am not the vocalist. The guy singing Green Manalishi is a man named Jason Russo from Buffalo, NY. The man singing the rest of them is Mark Alan Dooley from Monroe, LA. Jason and Mark both have FB pages as well as myself......
WWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOWWWW!! Do ya sing too? I am very impressed from you, you seem to be a real true Priest fanatic too!!
Nice to have ya here on this page !! I hope you will post again....normally all the crazy, wild and enthusiastic Priest fans are on fb which really want all about them.....except one
Guitar-work, outstanding as usual. Damn, your vocalist can reallly hit the high notes! Never been my fav P. Green / Fleetwood Mac song but you did it proper! Cudos.
Hey all. I havent been on in a while but I wanted to pop in and share this with you. Its a ( JUST FOR FUN AND NOT FOR SALE, JAYNE ) version of "The Green Manalishi" I did with a good friend in Buffalo, NY named Jason Russo on vocals. Check it out and let me know what you think......

Tonight, I had a revelation. Most who know me also know that I often listen to entire albums when doing two different things: while riding the Big Green mowing my lawn or while running. Today was the former.
It hits me. The BS that has been flooding this site of late pales in comparison with what was accomplished here - TRUE fans that got together and made two outstanding tribute albums. I was a reader when “Raw Steel” was conceived and came to be. Listened to it again today.Phenomenal accomplishment thanks to this website. People met, some travelled and made a wonderful recording. Next? “Forged Steel.”Again, unprecedented here when true fans got together and recorded another masterpiece that was even linked to KK's Mill.
These recordings mark the pinnacle of the site, IMO. Fans that got together to record the two wonderful albums and then gave them away freely to any other fan that simply wrote asking for them.
I actually got the first recording from Shotz (as he called himself then). Didn’t know him but he sent it to me freely and without hesitation. Those that don’t have either recording don’t know what they missed. THIS is the thread to back-read – the one that details the accomplishment of Judas Priest fans that I will forever hold in high esteem.
Long live the Faithful Defenders. For my part, I thank you for what you have done.

Budred, I was at the same show that you were. You said that people were "laughing at Rob when he tried to hit those notes". Well, where I was, people were practically falling to their knees at how incredible he still is. The looks on everyones faces around me when he hit them said it all. Rob knew that he was on - I loved that look he gave the crowd after some of his screams as if to say to everyone "Yeah - what did you think of that?!" He is moving around the stage so much more than in the past and giving it everything that he has, for almost 2 1/2 hours each night! If I were fighting with you, you would KNOW it. I just don't agree with your review of the exact same show that I was at. You want Priest to hang it up and you said that they should have done so after the British Steel tour. Well, I don't agree with that either - I am so incredibly thankful that I was able to see them 3 more times and hear Rob sing some of my favorite Priest tracks that I had never heard done live before. Richie does make them sound different, there is no getting around that. I can totally see where fans would be upset by that, it's a hard pill to swallow.

what planet I'm from and another just seemed to be joining the frenzy so how can I not take
that as angry. There was "these pseudo fans" and "Never Satisfied" comments. I said that 14 out of 17
times they were amazing. That's never satisfied? I've seen them every time they hit this area since 1981
and bought every album they've released but because I thought this show lacked a little I'm a
pseudo fan.
I didn't agree that they were that awesome but I didn't leave a single post referring
to any person who did. If you guys think it's just me I even had a private message telling me
they thought that it was funny that people get angry with me because my opinioned differed
from the others. I learned (thank you Jimmy) to not let myself get out of hand and almost
everything I do on here is tempered or thought out (usually) so as not to do what I did my first
year here. So I'm not going to do anything stupid. As negative as my post may be all I was saying
was that it wasn't what Priest has gotten me accustomed to over the years. I didn't say they sucked.
I didn't suggest anyone not go.

Message me your address and I'll mail you a CD.... This is original material. Not Priest... The CD was actually done on Cubase software but mastered at a studio nearby so it sounds better than both of the Priest recordings....
Personally, I don't think this thread should die as it is one of the greatest tributes to Priest that I have ever seen. All JP.com driven. Newbies should get these two albums, IMO.
I've always said that I thought the original to be a masterful mix. I still think so. Love to hear the new stuff. Hook a non Facebook metal maniac up!

I think they should dedicate those 13 or 14 minutes to something we havent heard in forever or something they havent done...ever. I just really hope that their management makes this a celebration and looks at what other bands are doing out on the road. Look at OzzTV, that's a fantastic idea! Queensryche does a raffle for the fan club and you can win meet and greets, which is a party with all the guys milling around - not a 2 minute red carpet photo op, or you can also win the opportunity to be at their soundcheck. How COOL would that be? I've also heard of bands recording every show and you can buy that shows audio recording. There are SO MANY very cool things that they could do.

I think that this shows you that Rob got himself an incredible management team! THIS is what they should be doing with Priest, but instead we have Jayne.... don't get me started. I don't think that the Halford band got in the way at all. I don't think Rob wants to sit around and do nothing, he just isn't that kind of guy. He gets bored. The other guys obviously want their downtime, which is perfectly fine. Looking at how Halfords touring went this year, he only committed to the summer. I think he was waiting to see what Priest was going to do. When it was clear they wouldn't be doing anything, he then booked with Ozzy and during this tour is also doing headline shows. If Halford was his main focus, I think he would have booked dates next year as well. I could be totally off base though, who really knows? I just think that Rob has a lot more music to share with the world before he is done and it looks like the rest of Priest doesn't feel the same way. Sad they are going out this way...... Priest will always be the masters of heavy metal and the Godfathers of heavy metal but they are anything but defenders of the faith, not even close. Since Motorhead isn't really heavy metal and how Iron Maiden sucks as bad as they do(yes Brian, they fucking SUCK!) Saxon have been the band that upholds "consistancy" because thier last 7 studio LPs are great and consistant, they actually blow away Judas Priest and Iron Maiden put together and it shouldn't be like this even though I like Saxon,it should of been Judas Priest who should of had the last 7 studio albums top notch, but they did this to themselves. Forgot about that shit!! I dont study maiden! BUT they did not lighten the load, change the formula, record their "Turbo". Dont get me wrong, I am not ragging Priest. There is great things in everthing they have done even turbo had some moments. It boils down to consistancy. I do wish they would have taken SFV and Defenders and increased the intensity of those till now. Painkiller should have followed Defenders and it should have been gut wrenching metal on each following. It should be Judas Priest and Tipton or Downing on every young aspiring guitar players lips instead of that no talent Kirk Hamett from Metallica who couldnt hold a candle to either.
I think in the mid 80's with the inception of, dare I say, Jayne Andrews is where it all changed. They changed their look with adding big hair and flashier stage wear and they took a mainstream approach to their tunes trying to capitalize on the popularity of the hair bands here in the US instead of staying with the formula. Turbo, even with its moments, would be more believeable as a Ratt album. THey finally figured it out with replacing Holland with Travis and put out what Priest should have been putting out all along but then they shot themselves in the foot with the ripper era albums by making themselves sound every guitar chuggin drop d nu-metal band out there and we all know that Priest is NOT a nu-metal band.......
Priest is my band and I love 'em but I say these things because thats the way I now see it. They could have been the biggest band in the world and were well on track of being just that by taking what Sabbath started and doing it right........ Ever heard of Blaze Bayley? He replaced Bruce Dickenson who left Maiden from 1993 to 1999. They recorded 2 cd'c with Baily. They also lost guitarist Adrien Smith at the same time. I like that fact that there is diversity in Priest recordings and its taught me to be diverse in my own music but if they want to sell out shows then they should have been emulated what was done on Painkiller with every recording since. Seriously would you expect a band that peaked in the mid 80s that hasn't had mainstream success to be selling out arenas more than 25 years later. It's the amount of respect they have alone that's allowing them to continue to tour.

They are obviously retiring because they've become senile because the way it works is, you record an album then you go on tour and support it. I'm sick of bands re-releasing old material in a new package and calling it "new." Then they announce a farewell tour to rob their fans of any final cash they can get.
I'm with those fans that think the last years of Priest have been their worst. I'd go back and say the last good priest album was Painkiller, everything since then is either horribly bad especially the Owens albums or just ok (A.O.R).
It's probably just as well because I had already made up my mind that if they recorded another death metal album that I wasn't going to buy it or go to the concert, BTW I didn’t buy Nostradamus. Priest was my favorite band since 1978 when I first heard Green Manalishi, but towards the end of their career it was obvious that the direction they went in left me behind. I don't think it's Halford because I like his solo stuff, so I think it's probably Glenn and K.K. making the decisions in this band. I'm not going to the farewell tour because I've pretty much lost interest in them years ago, but it's sad for me because I'd always hoped that they would come full circle and write more classic stuff and go out that way. But this just proves that Judas Priest left me behind and in the end they were not my favorite band...

IMO. I think your on crack! Priest could have lead the way into thrash in the early 80's if they had travis then or still had binks. Holland limited them in terms of anything fast. Scott is a phenominal drummer with stellar history of band affiliation, and album credits.
I think that the priest could make a intense Metal Album with new blood on the drum kit. A drummer that would die for a shot at the preist classics, and a driving force for a new creative priest.
IMO Scott sounds like a drum machine dadadadada. kinda bored with the same old
THanks for asking.
I think that the drumming was killer on old priest albums, that music will rock forever. An interseting beat that breathed with the music.

It is a retirement well deserved. Priest has SO many accomplishments and I know they can all look back on their careers with heads held high. After watching video of Rob and Scott's "Interview" at the grammys I am disgusted.
Here is the greatest heavy metal band in the world on the red carpet and who do they get interviewed by?: one of the skanks from jersey shore. She didn't even know who they were. Instead of even trying to ask ANY relevant question to the band it was: "Who are you?" and "Have you seen my show?".
I know I am biased because PRIEST is my favorite band, but MTV clearly showed no respect to the true pioneers of metal music. They just sent their "representative" to get 15 minutes of more publicity for their show. I have nothing against self promotion, but do it properly and not by treating music legends as an afterthought because they think Judas Priest is a band no one still cares about.

The law here in NY State is the same. No cells while driving. Its funny that a lot of the time I see a cop in his car moving he is on a cell phone. There were deaths around here in the last few months involving teens, high rates of speed and texting. So many times, I see mindless people staring down into their lap area and you can see the hand working a phone sending a text. I have had to break countless times to avoid colission and then I see this was the reason. Makes me sick!
I never use my blackberry (have to name drop my crackberry lol) when driving. If the call is so important right then and there, well I have a message box on my BB. It is not worth endangering my life or any other road user.

It's true without truckers there would be a bunch of stuff laying around rotting, rusting, not getting built, or loosing potentcy and not helping anyone. I apprciate a trucker, and the major role they play in our economy.

CHEERS MM!!!! I trucked for 13 years, now I load and un-load them...what would happen without 'em??!!

Whats pissing me off.....BON JOVI. Every fucking time I turn around there Bon Jovi is. Not a day will go by when I dont hear something or see something about them. Fucking retire already....
And another...The Who. I was a big fan back in the day but another one that needs to go and for good this time. I'd almost rather see a rehash of Britney Spears at the Super Bowl half time show that the friggin Who. Fucking retire already....
And another.... The Grammys, the Emmys and the Oscars. Congrats to Priest but was this one a televised one of one of the behind the scenes ones? Didnt watch the show other than the Pink performance, ( nice ) It disgust me that with all thats going on in this world that the rich and famous get together and collectively blow each other and televise the big balls for all the world to see. Who fucking cares. Retire them already!!!!!!

JD...We do have a definate theme to this recording and I am a bit concerned about the faster ones being a fit with what we have. We'll just have to see. I will let you know when they are done and post them.... [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by J.D. DIAMOND from Wednesday, January 27, 2010 3:31:45 AM)

Hey thats cool Meltdown, those songs I've heard are good and everything and would fit in perfectly throughout an album so I was just wondering about other tracks and the tempo of them...nothing has to be "thrash" unless it fits in of course but I just was wondering about any fast tempo style of tracks, good job Meltdown.

We do have one coming out that has somewhat of a thrash feel to it and we have another thats needs a rework on the drums due to a bad overall sound. Those 2 are soon to come.

Thats cool Meltdown, good to hear you guys cranking out music man!! Sounds like this is very well put together and interesting formula. This isn't a comment of critisism at all as your songs are very worthy, but I've been DYING to hear something from somebody that is "fast" or relatively kinda fast like Electric Eye or Freewheel Burning,or fast the speed of the song "Hell Bent For Leather"....are you guys planning on creating a few faster style of songs for the album? Again, not a comment of critisism because I'm saying that your material has some good formula by all means,I'm just one of those heavy metal fans that craves a couple of speedy songs,I'm a Motorhead(speed freak)!!!! lol! Good job again Meltdown!

I think the Saints will be in the "bowl" this year!! I am SOOO glad they kicked the shit out of NE last night. That was an awesome game. Its time for NE's bubble to be burst.
On another note...I went to my 1st NFL game this past sunday. The Bills and the Dolphins. The Bills are fired up after that ass kicking and my hats off to Ryan Fitzpatrick. He did an excellent job in the QB slot and socred a nice 31 yard run in for a TD! The Bills are showing some promise now. The play NE in a few weeks and after damn near beating them back at the beginning of the season and the effort they have been putting forth since Dicks booting, I have a feeling they will pull it off this time. That would be, for around here anyway, a sweet sweet victory..... [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by J.D. DIAMOND from Sunday, November 29, 2009 8:22:21 PM)

Oh definately,I do like how the Saints are undefeated as Drew Brees is totally on fire and even though the Saints have never been to the Super Bowl yet, you have to pull for Minnesota, they have NEVER won a Super Bowl, between 1970 and 1977 the Vikings went to 4 Super Bowls and lost them all.The first one was Joe Capp as QB and the next 3 Fran Tarkenton was QB but yet thanks to the Buffalo Bills thats all people remember is how the Bills lost 4 in a row!!! LOL!!! Hopefully Favre can take the Vikings to the Super Bowl and WIN! If The Patriots or Colts or Steelers are there then that would make for a classic!!!!

LOL Now that he's not playing for the Packers, I can enjoy watching him play as I hate the Packers...No offense Jeanine!! Yeah, he still kicked our asses twice this year, but I have all the respect in the world for him and what he's STILL able to do on the field. These younger QB's (and a few of the vet's) could learn a lot from the way he conducts himself on the field. I think I'm gonna have to root for him come playoff time!!
J.D. DIAMOND wrote:
LOL!!!!! HAHAHA I had fun posting it ron!! lol! Yeah isn't Favre amazing or what? Even if they get beat in the playoffs it doesn't matter,40 years old and still commanding the field like a general, his accuracy has gotten better!!!!!!

Well guys, I am not suprised by the outcome. Even I am in awe of what Favre is still capable of doing. The Bears have been seeing him twice a year for 17 out of his 19 years, and he is now 23-10 against us!!! Did he look awesome today or what?!
