[Palmer Griffiths] Monday, February 12, 2018 12:31:07 PM
Hi I just saw the news regarding Glenn's Health. My prayers go out to him and to the rest of the band. He is one of my all time guitar heroes and a big influence on me wanting to play guitar and Priest is my favourite band. I had the privilege of seeing you guys live twice. I'm sad to hear of the news of Glenn's health. I wish him all the best and the band as well. All my admiration and respect.. Sincerely, Palmer Griffiths.

[Palmer Griffiths] Thursday, June 05, 2014 5:13:29 PM

Hi I'm not sure if Rob/Glen/Richie/Ian & Scott will see this as I understand they are very busy people. I saw them live up in Calgary  Alberta when they toured for Angel of Retribution on the Ozzy Monsters of Rock Show than I saw them a second time in Edmonton Alberta for the Epitaph tour both were amazing ! I know the band is scaling back their world tours but I was wondering the touring that they will do for Redeemer of Souls Is it possible the band will play places this time around that they never been to ? Sure would love to see them come to Halifax nova scotia here in Canada. I know they'd sell alot of tickets. Black Sabbath recently came and sold out the place at the Metro Centre in Halifax. As well I don't know if it's really up to them where they go to play as it's probaly more the bookers or promoters who make that call I'm guessing. Anyhow can't wait to get the newalbum.

TOPIC: Guitar tone Advice
[Palmer Griffiths] Tuesday, January 14, 2014 7:28:05 PM
Hi Folks I know a lot of people on this board play guitar. I was wondering if you guys could give me some help? I have a Marshall 100 mg fx. I've been mostly playing a epiphone sg special with a Seymour Duncan invader in the bridge. I use Dean Markley 12's for strings and tune to usually c and b. Right now I have it at d . My effects are a boss hyper metal/danelectro fish & chips 7 band eq/behringer ultra chorus uc-200/danelectro fab echo/boss harmonist ps-6/mxr smart gate. No matter what I do I find that my tone sounds too muddy no matter how much I adjust the eq or distortion.Even trying to adjust the gain, mid and bass doesn't seem to help. Can anyone give me some advice ? Maybe I have a crappy amp or I just have to keep fiddling around with the pedals and amp settings . Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I found out that my Great Grandfather on my Dad's side came from the same place Priest are from which is pretty cool. Apparently he was born in Birmingham,England. Just wondering if any other Priest fans have any advice for family research ? thanks

I don't mean any disrespect to your posting. I'm sad that KK has decided to call it quits but that's how it is. As for him being Cryptic I think him Rob ,Ian,Glen & Scott shouldn't have to divulge every sorted thing that they do. I think these people were more than band members,They were friends as well.Rob,Glen,Ian & KK knew each other for many years and just because they're world renowned and famous I don't think they have to be obligated to anyone to divulge everything they discuss or do behind the scenes. They're people like the rest of us and have a right to their privacy. They don't have to tell us every sorted detail about their lives. KK had his reasons to do what he did and I don't think it makes him any worse of a person for doing so.I think people are upset over his departure because the timing was bad because of the fourthcoming tour.Even if the other guys knew about I think they still have a right to their privacy.Again I'll miss KK and hope he'll come back one day because both he & Glen were such an influence on me to pick up a guitar..Good Luck on all your Future endeavors KK..

I agree there are people that don't know who Priest are but at the same token I think the point Justin was trying to make was that MTV could have got someone who was up on this type of Music and knew some history about the band rather than getting one of there little Gimps to do a plug when it was suppossed to be an interview of Priest not to market off a really tasteless and bad Tv Show.

I agree it wasn't a good interview in regards that the Twit from Jersey shore  was interviewing them. They Could have least got someone with a functioning Brain Cell other than Snookie. I personally thought She was both Rude and Unprofessional whoring off her show when it was supposed to be an interview about Priest. I'm sure if Rob or Glen or KK and Ian or Scott had the chance to interview someone for example Randy Couture or Chuck Lidell I'm sure they'd be professionals about it and ask questions about there Fight career and MMA.I'm sure they wouldn't bring up Priest through the whole interview.I think they'd have more respect for other people than the lack of respect that the Twat from Jersey Shore doled out on them.  [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by kenny from Wednesday, February 10, 2010 4:03:25 PM)

What I heard through the demos of it sounded really good but I guess I'd have to try it for myself. I have a Danelectro fab tone that I quite like. There Pedals aren't that expensive and for what they cost they have a pretty descent sound but I guess that's just all a matter of personal taste and opinion because I know it's like comparing apples to oranges I suppose. Some guys will tell you" This Pedal or this amp is crap !" while others will tell you the oppossite and praise it up and down. Anyhow just wondering if any of you guys tried the Uber Metal.Would like to hear your opinions on this product. Cheers!..

I wouldn't enter it because quite frankly I suck  *LOL* even after a little over 20 yrs of playing. That's cool thoe for the winner to get a Guitar autographed by Glen and KK. Hey thanks for your advice man. The Marshall I have is a solid state. I have a Metal distortion I used for years which is a cheap one called a Rocktek Metal worker.  I tried it through the Marshall but didn't like the sound of it.For some reason it sounds better through a smaller amp. I also have a Danelectro Fab tone that I've been using through the Marshall and that one sounds awesome. Has a good tube sound to it and heavy as shit. I know what you mean about the onboard effects.Alot of people say that. I'm sure Pedals are much better because with the knobs you can pretty well tweak everything to where you want it. I have a Zoom 505 processor as well but I think I'd just prefer to have a row of Boss Pedals taped to the floor.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by guitardude from Saturday, June 26, 2010 4:05:40 PM)

It's funny you mention that Man.Because alot of people I've read reviews on about the amp  say the same thing you're saying about the on board FX and as for the Overdrive a few chaps were saying get an overdrive pedal to give it some guts. When I got the Amp I tried the Dave Mustaine  Dean Signature V through it.I found it uncomfortable.  I was scratching my head a bit because I was trying to run a  distortion pedal through the effects loop at the back and it didn't sound too good to me and the manual for the amp really didn't explain clearly to me that you should only run effects like an Eq,Chorus,Flanger through the back. I went back to the music store and the salesman told me to run the distortion through the input at the front. My face was red I felt like a dummy. Oh well .   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Necroticist from Saturday, June 26, 2010 8:48:09 AM)

This Guy and his Nut Job followers were even protesting at the funerals of Soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. They were carrying signs that said thank God for dead soldiers and thank God for 9 -11. As much as I have mixed views on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars I don't condone that kind of behaviour towards dead soldiers.I think it's sick,Disrespectful and dispicable.

I don't know if I'm going a little off topic here but as I've gotten older I've gotten a little more cynical. I don't really believe alot of what the media feeds us or what Politicians tell us. I think George Carlin was right when he said we have the illusion that we have freedom of choice. The only freedom of choice we're limited to is Glazed or Jelly donuts,Smoking or non Smoking.I think politicians are there as smoke screens and window dressing and big business is calling the shots. A select few are the ones that are making the major decisions ex: the big corporations and the lobbyists who influence policies that are made.Anyhow that's just my opinon.  Check this out

I just read a book called A Perfect Hell by John Nadler. It's about a unit my GrandDad served in during World War II called the First Special Service Force "The Black Devils". He told me a few things when he was in it but the book gave me some more insight into the scope of what he was involved with.Sadly he passed away last year.

Well it would take me along time to list this.Overall I think alot of mainstream music is horrible and overated and boring. I remember a time when good acts were getting a real big push  for example: Iron Maiden ,Judas Priest,Dio etc. etc. These artists gave the fans there moneys worth put out great albums and great shows and nowadays there's alot of overated crap being signed. I know it's all a matter of personal taste but that's my opinion.

The tracks that didn't make it to albums but were released as bonus tracks on the Remasters. Songs like : Prisoner of your Eyes,Fire Burns below,Turn on your Light. I think Heart of A lion would be a great track for them to play live.I know Racer X released it some years back but I really like Priest's version of the track. In my opinion that song is a gem and I think it would sound awesome live.

[Palmer Griffiths] Sunday, August 24, 2008 7:19:02 PM

I Just wanted to add a little more on this subject. What I'm about to say is not aimed at the entire American People.I have nothing against Americans, but those few who are on top of the Ivory Tower Like the Government and Big Business etc. Altough I find what's going on in that region of the World alarming the U.S. is claiming Russia has attacked and Invaded a soveriegn Country ..But what about the United States? They've done that sort of thing countless times in Latin American Countries and other nations around the Globe. They had Fulgencio Batista in power in Cuba who was corrupt as Well the Sha Of Iran who was put  in power and Henry Kissinger was quoted as saying " He's a Bastard,But he's our Bastard." They've installed Governments in Countries as long as it suited there domestic interests. Now they're coming to the aid of the Georgians? I didn't exactly see them do that when there was a Genocide going on in a place like Rwanda.I guess there was no Oil Reserves or other natural resources for Big Business to exploit. Just want to close off with what The Late George Carlin stated in his bit called The Owners Of this Country " You're not Free ! You're Owned. The owners of this Country they own you. They own all  the important Land they control and own the Major Media outlets and they have The Senate,Judges,Congress all in there back pocket. This Country was bought and paid for a long time ago. They got you by the Balls! It's a Big Exclusive Club and Guess what !..You and Me..We're not in it." This can be said for my country to and others as well.

TOPIC: A New Cold War ?
[Palmer Griffiths] Sunday, August 17, 2008 7:03:55 PM
Well Some are saying there's Different reasons why the Russians are there. One of them is that Georgia which is a former Satellite State of the Soviet Union wants NATO membership and The Russian Government is Vehemetly oopossed to it because apparently they see NATO as a threat to them and already a few Former Soviet Bloc countries are now NATO members one of them being Poland and another the  Czech Republic . Apparently  the Ukraine is seeking NATO membership as well.Analysts say that Russia sees that as a growing concern because it's happening right at there Doorstep.Other reasons are there is an oil pipeline running through there to the Caspian Sea which is in Both the interests of the United States and Russia. Despite that there are break away states from Georgia that the Russians are saying that Georgia will not get back these are supposed to be some of the reasons.

I don't know if anyone here is actually into the fantasy genre of literature but I will Recommend any of Michael Moorcock's books about Elric. Elric of Melnibone/The Fortress of The Pearl/Weird of The White Wolf/Sailor on the seas of fate/The Dream Theifs Daughter etc. Actually I heard Universal Pictures have the Rights and are supposed to make a motion picture for it. There's been talk about it for a while now. Blue Oyster Cult along with Lemmy's old Band Hawkwind did songs about Micheal Moorcock's character Elric. Anyhow folks if you can than check the books out it's not typical Swords and sorcerrey at all. They're some of my Favourites anyway.

Glen and KK can do alot of fancy technique with their gutair playing. Some people look down on finger tapping and such. Both Glen and KK  I think are different from most guitar players because they are such great song writers as well Especially with Rob. I mean they can Shred and do all that flashy stuff but at the same time I think they have something that alot don't which is the ability to write memorable songs and melodies. I think that's what stes them apart from alot of other musicians.Opinions anyone?

Actually I have no idea why she did that.Either she was trying to get close to the stage or get involved with the mosh who knows. Most of the people that were doing it were younger people. Most of the older crowd that I could see weren't into it , but there was the odd older person that wanted to test themselves in the mosh.As for me it's just not my cup of tea.It was happening towards the front of the stage but it was a select few people that were doing it. Some were getting annoyed by the fact that they were getting shoved by the moshers including myself. Like I said before I just wanted to sing along, watch the band and enjoy the show.

Hi folks ! I saw Judas Priest for the first time live at McMahon Stadium in Calgary Alberta.I've been a fan since I was kid so it was a real treat to finally see them live for the first time. They were on the Ozzy  Osbourne Monsters of Rock tour and there set blew me away ! only problem I had was with the moshing. I think I'm a little old for that and well I just want to be in the crowd and enjoy the show and sing along with the music without having to pick my spleen up off the floor *LOL* Hey if people want to mosh than cool but hey not everybody wants to do that. I just want to kick back sing along and enjoy the show.As well there was the odd member of " The Idiot Population" who got full up on Liquid courage that was itching to start a fight and wreck the good time of others and as Danny Glover said in Lethal weapon " I'M TOO OLD FOR THIS SHIT !" *LOL* anyhow I may get some criticism for my post , But hey I'm just expressing my opnion. I want to go to a show  where I payed my hard earned money to enjoy  and not have my back thrown out ,my nose broke or teeth knocked out or deal with some idiot who can't hold his liquor wanting to start a fight and wreck my good time and that of others who payed there money to enjoy the show.I'd like to be able to go home afterwards to my baby daughter in one piece. Anyhow Priest did an excellent set and they didn't dissapoint. They were well worth my hard earned money so anyhow to the rest of the fans be safe and When Priest comes around enjoy the show because they won't dissapoint. Respectfully,Palmer Griffiths.

I was blown away by your set and got as close to the stage as I could and sang along to the music. I've been a big fan since I was a little kid.It was a great experience to finally see you live for the first time and was well worth my hard earned money.Regretably when tickets went on Sale I didn't find out till the last minute you were playing Edmonton because I understand you like the other bands at Ozzy's gig were only alotted so much time on stage would love to see you at the Edmonton show do all your stuff but unfortunately I couldn't afford to get tickets after this Show I was at.
