HEY ! HOW ABOUT "LIVE EVIL" NOT A STUDIO ALBUM BUT AWESEOME. HE PUTS A GOOD SPIN ON OZZY'S SONGS. SPEAKING ABOUT THE DIFFERENT SINGERS FOR SABBATH, I ALSO LIKE IAN GILLIAN ON "BORN AGAIN" SONGS LIKE TRASHED,ZERO THE HERO, DIGITAL BITCH. IT'S HARD TO FIND BUT VERY GOOD. |

Yea, kinda like play and collect a check? Usless drum and guitar solos. And had they shortened-up the song heaven and hell (normal- 6:58/ live-15 min.) We would have got to hear at least neon knights? I like them, and their music but they just seemed to be going through the motions. If they can't fit a 3:53min. song into that setlist? I just saw H&H with Priest at PNC, NJ on the Metal Masters tour. Here's a question for all the H&H fans:
If you have a 45-50 min. slot as the warmup, why the Hell do we have Vinnie Appice doing a drum solo and Iommi also doing a guitar solo. Should'nt H&H be packing as many songs into the set? I think they did 9 songs.. Without the solos it could have been an extra 3 songs. Am I missing something? Also, they did not play Neon Nights... WTF?
To me, they seemed a little too comfortable / and were not showing enough to get it exciting. Sort of Ho Hum lets get it over with. Sorry I was not impressed with them, although I heard their full-set tour was very good. Rating 5 out of 10.
Maybe pull out some Dio or Rainbow tunes to liven it up or play the faster Sabbath songs. Something was missing from H&H the other night, thats for sure... |

personaly, even if they are headlining a long solo by anyone is a waste. saw zach do a 10 min solo with ozzy, could take a nap. even the best solo ever neil pert on drums with rush, while amazing is still not as good as another song tossed into the mix. slows the whole thing down for the fans.
I loved them on the full set tour, could be tired? [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Maple Syrup from Monday, August 11, 2008 1:42:51 PM) | | Maple Syrup wrote: | | I just saw H&H with Priest at PNC, NJ on the Metal Masters tour. Here's a question for all the H&H fans:

I saw Heaven and Hell at Nissan Pavillion last Thursday abd Dio just has ZERO stage presence! Iommi was a guitar GOD, as always. Dio has a great voice, and I enjoy listening to him, although his lyrics don't make any sense most of the time; I don't enjoy seeing him.
Just my opinion.
(ps. Priest kicked ass. Halford was not quite as energetic as in years past but we are all getting older, right? His voice was great.) |

Ive Seen Heaven and Hell twice now, (soon to be 3 times)
Although Tony Iommi is a mythical guitar creature, The best concert ever for me so far is still DIO/Anthrax
Im waiting for Ronnie to get tired of H&H and tour as DIO again |

I saw the Heaven and Hell tour at the Capital Centre, near DC, and Dio just could NOT hold up his part...Ozzy might screw up the lyrics now and again but his ENERGY just cannot be topped by anyone (except maybe Halford, but it's a different. kind of energy..). For those of you who have seen them both (Ozzy and Halford) you should know what I mean... |

I agree but at the same time, man Heaven and hell, though corny in some spots, is one of greatest albums of all time. Just so kick ass, thats one thing i have to say Ozzy is the fucking man, no one will ever take away how kick ass he is, but Dio is well... just way way better of a singer. The only singer that hasnt stressed his voice over the years and is actually better then he used to be. Black sabbath can never deny Ozzy though, and if a new album came out, id like to see ozzy do it. Although it would be pretty kick ass, if they both did it! |

Iommi's guitar is most awesome. Dio has a nice voice but he's sort of twerpy-looking and his lyrics SUCK! He just seems to put together whatever rhymes at the time. Sabbath will always be OZZY! Ozzy is a short fellow but his energy just makes the audience come alive! |

Dio era definitely!! Heaven & Hell, Mob Rule, Neon Knight. But Ozzy's Paranoid still best |

Sabbath with Dio is simply put: awesome! I think Ronnie himself said before in an interview that he can write how he wants to in Sabbath. I'd have to agree with him too. Nothing against Dio's solo work or any of the stuff with Rainbow (never heard any of Elf so I can't comment on that), but the stuff he wrote in Black Sabbath easily puts everything he did as a solo artist to shame - save for maybe 5 or 6 songs.
Also, regarding the "Dio Years" box set, I really like the slow, plodding, power metal style they employed. Great headbanging material. Edited at: Thursday, July 17, 2008 5:44:14 AM |
