I wonder how this will affect Priest's setlist? Will they get a replacement band or play longer? Ideas?

JP should either play an extended set or offer partial refunds to those who bought tix because alot of us paid the $$$ to see Whitesnake as much as JP, and with Whitesnake not playing anymore, JP should play longer or give some $$$ back. I didn't pay the big $$$ to see some lame local bands fill in the time slot for Whitesnake, I paid the $$$ to see Whitesnake! Do the right thing JP and either play longer or give money back to those who have already purchased tix!

I was hoping to see Whitesnake (at the final stop on this tour in NH). When I heard Whitesnake cancelled I too was hoping that would mean a longer Priest set however, as suspected, Meadowbrook has added another (local) band to the bill. Here's the schedule:

5:00 PM Boyz Gone Wild (on second stage)
6:30 PM Bottoms Up
7:10 PM Sweet Cheater
8:30 PM Pop Evil
9:30 PM Judas Priest
Coverdale apology (see related videos for other clips from that night):

I think that Priest would probably do a longer set, but in the interest of keeping a awesome as they do, probably not due to the fact of rehearsal time to perfect the song for the show. As they are very busy and making time to do such just isn`t available. If they can, I`m sure they will. Everyone should just be happy and wish David Coverdale a speedy recovery.

I was at the Red Rocks show, and David Coverdale deffinatly said he could not sing. Within 45-minutes Priest was on stage and played Brittish Steel and much more untill 11pm with 3 encors. Priest played much longer than most bands I have seen in the last few years.

Well, I hope the report from the show last night is incorrect. It claims the setlist was completely unchanged in spite of the fact that Whitesnake is not performing. Wow, I was really hoping for a longer Priest set.

I work for a venue in NH - Meadowbrook in Gilford - the final stop on the current tour (tickets are still available). I asked about a replacement but I got the impression they don't care - they'd rather just pocket the cash they would have paid Whitesnake. I think if they get some band to fill in, it'll just be some local band - great opportunity for a local band to open for Priest but I'd much rather see an extended Priest set!

Examiner.com reports that after a four song  set at Red Rocks Amphitheater, Morrison, Colorado last night (Tuesday), Whitesnake frontman David Coverdale, announced that he felt he wasn't quite over his laryngitis he had been suffering from and could sing no longer.
With a heart wrenching appology Coverdale left the stage. "I'm sorry, I tried, I just can't do it.", he stated. At the end of the performance last night, inside sources told us that Coverdale had canceled the rest of the tour with Judas Priest and supporting band Pop Evil, due to his illness.
Judas Priest and Michigan based support band, Pop Evil, will perform extended sets to make up for the absense of Whitesnake.
Previously on August 7th, Whitesnake had canceled the performance in Phoenix, Arizona at the Dodge Theatre
due to his battle with laryngtis.

Wow, that really sucks!! I wish Dave the best. I'm going to the Atlanta show and also wonder if they will replace Whitesnake with another band...Priest can play longer I won't mind!

I had just read this about this on Whitesnake's website.  Hope David has a safe recovery, no matter how long it takes.

Official Announcement   8-12-2009

"Unfortunately, last night at the Red Rocks Amphitheater, Denver, Whitesnake had to cut their performance short due to Mr Coverdale experiencing considerable pain in his vocal chords. He was immediately taken to a specialist for examination. The specialist discovered that David was suffering from severe vocal fold edema and a left vocal fold vascular lesion. He was instructed to cancel all performances for the next two weeks & then undergo a further examination. The doctors told us we were fortunate this was caught at a stage where no apparent permanent damage has been caused. We therefore regretfully have to announce that Whitesnake will not be appearing on the remainder of the US tour with Judas Priest, Whitesnake sincerely regrets any disappointment this may cause."

My understanding is that J.P. helped pick up the slack and put on a longer show?  I wonder if J.P. did that for the Phoenix, AZ show, since David had to cancel out, due to laryngitis?  I learned about this through W.S.' "BBS" section.
