The people who get backstage either "luck out" or has established connections to make that happen. I for one, bought a V.I.P. ticket so I could meet them for a few minutes. The rest is all about being in the right place at the right time or knowing someone who can help you out, like it has always been with most everything. I am happy for those who do get backstage, they are very fortunate and good for them!
