Thanks!
I only have 2 dogs in the house now. The momma dog Priscilla, and the crazy "uncle" dog Iggy Pop.
And now you guys know what I look like...LOL [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by spapad from Wednesday, March 31, 2010 5:51:05 PM) | | spapad wrote: | | Jerzgirl! So lovely to see you!!! Love the pups! | | jerZgirl wrote: | |
This is me with one of the pups when he was about 5 months old. He came back for a sleepover - his name is Ozzy. LOL

This is the last 3 of them before they went home. :(

And from the beginning...they were sooo freaking precious.

The day they were born...my dog was the BEST momma...broke my heart to see them go - she would count them when they were up and running. She loved her babies. | | guidogodoy wrote: | | Wonderful. Post pics.

Hey HB! How about putting the kids into "bands" of five and have them come up with a band name of their own? They can draw their first album cover, and come up with titles for their first 8-10 songs. Then there can be a vote between each band's album covers/songs. The first three bands with the most votes will win a prize. From then on each band will have that album cover as a representation of all the band members.
Or how about a costume contest? Give them guidelines on how to look metal and give some examples (like Rob Halford wearing denim and leather ) before they begin. The band with the best HM costumes will win a prize, and each band can get a group photo while wearing their outfits.
For the hike, you can scatter envelopes, each containing the name of a specific famous Heavy Metal band, all over the trail before the actual hike. When a band finds an envelope, you can tell the whole troupe its history and the role it played in the development of the genre. Play them a song from that band on a portable stereo when the hike continues until the next envelope is found. For a sport, make it a "battle of the bands". Any sport will suffice. The two bands with the most wins will face-off in a "metal festival" of sorts, where the losing teams can pick their favorite band and cheer them on, thus becoming fans of the best HM bands around (heheh). The winning band will earn the title of "Heavy Metal Legends" or something like that. I need a way to turn a hike into a rockstar activity. a game outside would be good too, I could turn capture the flag into capture the rock award or recording contract, but need help on those two. any ideas? |

GD. the canadian program is significantly different from the american. consequently I have no idea what you mean. and I cant find many links online to ours. there was actualy an American boy scouts group opened in calgary. this way people who get posted here from texas (usualy) can still manage their eagle scout, whatever that is.

What about camping on a ball field with a small stage riser borrowed from the school, and bring some speakers, and have a Guitar Hero Match off. Kids know all aoubt it and are good at it. I suck at it, and loose in the practice stage, but that would be a place to start. Sure you thought of it before.
Or, you could go to Melee combat in the woods with paintball or fake Medieval weapons, and blast Some cool Heavy Metal Music while they play?? Sounds like fun to me, and the music would drown out the sounds of footsteps sneaking up on them, they would have to be Really alert. A wonderful weekend to one and all!! Hope you are all well. Beautiful here in Vegas! Warm, sunny yet a bit windy. The pollen and dust really cause problems here in the spring. Ah but we sally forth!
The Princess and I are laying low for the wekeend. STILL fighting that bug and it has affected her far, far worse. She ended up in the first stages of pneumonia and I have been rather busy tending to her. She has an awful cough! (*Smokers!! Take heed!!) Anyway, I still have a bit of a cough myself and this darn "frog in my throat". What a pain in the butt! All of this seems to take whatever energy I have so it is sort of a good thing that we are not going to leave the house for a couple days.
BIG fight in the UFC tonight!!!!!! GSP goes up against the "Mouth" from across the pond!! HA!!!!!!!!!!!! For those of you that do not follow UFC, GSP is George St. Pierre, a GREAT Canadian fighter. The aforementioned "Mouth" is a wisenheimer from England named Hardy. He is a strange fellow but has been beating up folks rather convincingly. However, I do believe tonight he will fall. This canNuck is just too skilled! And so I leave you to your weekend! I will, of course, try to "pop in" here and there just to see what lunacy is afoot. |

Wow Becks! That is just horrible! Poor little guy and with added stress of Dad being away and Mom having to move house with all that going on. My sympathies to the family. The thing is with kids that the minor falls are mostly the worst ones. It's sort of the same in cycling. If you fall at high speeds most of the time you come away with far less injuries than when you fall while going slowly. Most of the bone breakages come from the slower tumbles.
I can't imagine having to be in a full body cast at my age so I really feel for him being so young and having to go through this. I was helping out so she could pack to move house this saturday. Her oldest boy took a VERY minor fall on the floor, and started screaming. He never usually screams so we rushed him to the doctor and he had an xray, which showed that he had broken his right femur. So off to the hospital, he was put in traction (which was pretty awful to watch) in the kids ward and will end up with a full body cast. Poor wee thing, he's the most active kid so 4 weeks of not being able to move is not going to be nice for him. |

Hi guys! I'm super stoked cos today, during a day trip down to the capital city (helping a friend out) I ambled in to a record store I randomly found and got myself a copies of Screaming For Vengeance and Unleashed In The East on vinyl!!!! I was so excited that I found them - my first vinyl albums LOL! They also had Priest Live and Rocka Rolla but I could only buy two damnit. They also had some cool looking vinyl single. An awesome awesome shop, and I am pleased with my finds lol. SFV is in good condition, the cover is a bit worn but nothing horrible. UITE is in very good condition. |

And I have some exciting news for you all! Most of you will know how I have been struggling for over year to get a job with any significant hours, in the area of laboratory work. Well, I got a phone message the other day from a guy at my work saying my details had been given to him and I was highly spoken of etc and that he wanted to talk to me about a possible job working on a project in the microbiology department. So I rang him back and we arranged to meet this afternoon. So I went in and all went well! He is passing my details to the contractor who is doing the work, I will meet with the boss there and then they will draw up a contract for me! It's only 20 hours a week (job sharing with someone who the contractor doesn't want to let go of) BUT he is going to try and sort out that I get paid $25 an hour!!!! I'm absolutely stoked, even though it's not full time, because I will still be doing my other few hours of work with the cheese people, it'll amount to about 3 full time days a week, working in the mornings every day. Plus it's doing microbiology lab work, and being in a lab is what I've wanted all this time. I am so excited and hopefully all goes well when I meet the contractor. Finally my patience has paid off! |

AWESOME news Becks!! I just knew something would happen soon and I'm so happy for you!! Even though it is part time, that doesn't matter. All you need is the opportunity to show them what you can do and gain the experience necessary to land that full time job. This is your foot in the door that you have been waiting for and it's AWESOME. If you impress the micro manager (which I know you will), you will get the next job opening they have. I know it's hard being patient and waiting for it to happen, but it finally did and I couldn't be happier for you. Now go kick some ass and show them who Becks is and what she can do! So pleased for you Becks. I left school in a quandary, I remember. Found it difficult to settle to anything. I decided I needed a career and not a job. I eventually went to university as a 'mature' student, managed 'on the bread line', still have the occasional nightmare about that. My career has totally occupied me, so stressful, but found I do well on 'the
adrenalin rush'. Good luck always. |

Oh no! You've still got it? That sucks big time!
I did a 110km cycle race on Sunday with a stomach bug and it was hell! The only thing I could keep down was coke. I have never drank that much coke in my life before! I stopped at every hydration station and loaded up on a cup lol. The wind was gale force again this year but that bout of gastro was hell! I'll take sun exposure over that anyday! I hope you get better soon Freeze xx
Oh and I still have emotional suffering from the state of the porta potties.. not cool, so not cool lol.

Looks like you had a good time with your family, Ron. Your Grandson is adorable, hope you spoil him rotten!
And 81F? Thats, about 28.. ish... (I have to think about it- everyone uses celcius over here). Don't think I'll be feeling those kind of temperatures til I head off to Greece in June, but I can't knock the weather over here, after an incredibly long cold winter we are finally seeing some warm sunshine, in fact its all gone a little crazy as all the spring flowers that would normally flower one after the other (snowdrops, crocus, daffs) have suddenly come out all at once. Every park and garden I pass looks amazing, if a little strange.
Thanks Becks, Spa. It was totally crazy, I'm still pretty tired, had about six hours sleep in three days. Totally worth it, mind. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by ron h from Tuesday, March 16, 2010 7:13:08 AM) | | ron h wrote: | | Good morning / day fellow Metal Heads

I post that I'm going to ROTR 2010 and immediately I read about how bad everyone sucks on the bill. I was responding to that.
The same two people have posted quite a few times that this sucks or that sucks and I'm just wondering what makes them the experts.
I'm not lashing out I'm just responding in kind.

I think it's funny that everytime someone doesn't like someone else's music they post that it sucks.
Everyone is such an expert as to what's good and what isn't. Please, spare me. It's all opinion and the great
thing about that is an opinion only matters to the person giving it. I'm going to enjoy Rob Zombie, Godsmack,
Limp Bizkit, Three days Grace, Mastodon, Slash, and others. Admittedly some of the line up may be a little weak
but there are 38 bands over two days. You don't have to watch them all. Some of the people on here who complain
about troublemakers are the ones throwing the most shit. You guys are way to freakin' negative towards everything
different than you. Lighten up and realize the world does not revolve around you.

Anyone heard swedish band called "Hellsongs" before? The band has interesting cover versions from many metal massive hits like Breaking the law, Thunderstruck, Paranoid and so on...how do you feel those versions? A joke or something refreshing new...? Of course if you a true believer I suppose there´s only one right answer...
