Hi, gang! Yes, its me. I heard the news and thought I would stop by for a few words. I know that many of you find this news difficult to accept and I suppose there is a part of me that feels the same, however, I find this moment more bittersweet.
We all have such wonderful memories of this great, great band. So many things we will always recall with tremendous fondness as we remember where we were when or what we were doing..... All the fantastic concerts we have enjoyed, the awesome music they have made and the amazing people we have met. And, of course, there is this site.
I cannot say what will become of this place when the guys finally play that last song. I assume there are many tears to be shed and many hugs to share. I will always be grateful to the people that made this site more than just a web page. More than just a fan site. I found friendship here that I will cherish for the rest of my days.
I have not been here much in the last few months and I quite likely will not be back too often. I prefer to remember this site for what it was and who was here. I prefer to remember all the friends I have made and all the great times we had here. All in the name of the GREATEST band ever! They have given us SO much more than music. They are and will always be a part of us. When I hear a Priest song, I will think of you all. I will remember those crazy days of years ago. The laughs we shared and some of the tears. The fun and even the bad moments. I will remember the FAITHFUL DEFENDERS. Our two albums and all that went into them. The days at MM's house. The sights that the Princess and I saw in New York. The WONDERFUL music we made.
Perhaps we will see one another at one of the final shows next year? I know that I will think of you when I see the boys making their final stop near me! I thank all of you for the many years we have spent together. I love you guys. Please remember that. Please remember me. Thank you Rob, Glenn, Ian and Scott. I will remember you.

WHAT THE CRAP???!!! This is just something I didn't expect this morning!! I nearly choked on my breakfast burrito reading this news!! Wow. Guess that does it then. This is a sad day for heavy metal; the final tour of the Metal Gods. Damn, guess I will save as much money as possible for a meet and greet before they are gone forever.

If not, then I'll ask to be packed in a giant box with styrofoam peanuts and a giant roll of bubble wrap to pass the time while in the cargo plane. I'll even pay extra for overnight delivery.

The TSA has been a disaster since it took over (surprise surprise) and can't even keep their own ranks safe having given numerous screening jobs and even pilot lessons to illegals. Even better, they have yet to catch a soul.

Hmmmm..... that is a very interesting question HB. I think that with all the technology we have today, we hear about things almost instantly. I think just as many bad things happened to people years ago, we just didn't hear about it unless we lived nearby.
My personal philosophy is to trust my instincts about people. When we hire someone new, I know within minutes whether they will be good or not and I've never been wrong or surprised. I can tell right away if something is "off" about someone and I keep my guard up. I make sure that I know my kids friends and parents, so yes they can go over to their friends house. But I would never let them go over and play somewhere if I didn't know the family - better to have the friend come to my house until I meet the parents. I trust people unless I have some feeling that I shouldn't and when I get that feeling I trust it. Always better safe than sorry!
I've met 4 people on this board so far and they have all been FANTASTIC people that I am very proud to know. I hope to meet many more before Priest is through too. I know that I have met people from the internet (at some obscure site judaspriest.com). I went to DF's house when I was in vegas and had a great time. the guys I was with kidded me about getting killed by some internet psycho, but also kidded me about dating... I survived. I have also met up with QT from this site, that was in a more public space, which makes good sense and it was great to meet her. Wow! That is horific! Very true though that in this day and age we have to be super careful. If you're meeting someone online, make sure it's in a public place and preferably with someone with you. It is very sad. I by no means wish this post to go against the people I have met here (save one, and we all know who that is) but this is just a cautionary tale, a real one, about what can happen when you meet someone online. Like you said, they can say all the right things and be not what you would expect at all.
I'm very sorry for him. I know his last thoughts must have been full of confusion because he was such a trusting person. It haunts me; what he must have felt.

we are sort of unique. the union came in about 20 years ago, mostly younger workers then. now most of the workforce is over 65, and most of those are semi retired former managers from other industrys. put that with the fact that we are by a long shot the most conservative, least unionized province in canada, and the fact that in the last negotiation the company offered an increase of 17% where the union asked for 10 (couldnt hire then, now that raise is going to cause issues if we ever get to discuss economics). if any of the employees actualy decided to take interest in the effort to decertify I am sure it would be a quick vote. problem is, they have golf to go to and such. A lot of times a worker may have issues that just aren't grieveable regardless of how wronged they feel and because the rep can't do anything about it, they take it out on them.
Spa, yes! Any non-union employer in the statee of Indiana can terminate an employee "at will", and that sucks!! No warning, no just cause!! For this reason alone it pays to be under a union umbrella!!

OMW!! I just got back from a day of offroad motorcycle training. I feel like my back is about to break! Lots of balance stuff on the bike from 9am til 3:30pm and I am stuffed! But learnt a lot of cool stuff like riding with one foot off the peg and then riding whilst kneeling on the sadle.. felt very weird at first but once mastered was pretty cool ha ha ha. Also sitting side saddle while riding. Now I'm not too sure how that is supposed to help me for general off roading but it was still pretty cool to be able to do. In case I haven't made my point clear : MY BACK IS KILLING ME!!! lol. Now I have to go and catch my kids bunnies, out them back in their hatch and then go teach my Sunday School class.. No rest for the wicked... or the peacemakers either ha ha ha~

Yesterday, the yearly "Gumpathon" ended its 63 day run to raise money for the troops. I figure that if a man with no legs can run and others can do 85 / 86 miles in one day I could donate and run my eight. Amazing people.

Becks, I totally get where you're coming from as far as all them paid holidays. The company we support gets 16!! Here are the days we get paid for: New Years, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independance Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Years Eve.

Wow, your employer has the will to fire you for no reason? No matter how long you have been there? Here, only in your first 90 days of employment can you fire someone without a just reason, after that you have to follow protocol and write them up, 2 times and third is suspension without pay, 4 is fired. Of couse that is for stuff like no call no show too many late times etc... If you do something truely out of line you'll get fired on the spot. No wonder you need unions with that kind of hire/fire bottom line.
I know NJ is suffering huge embarassment from the "jersey shore" fools and have had to deal with Bon Jovi, but still they don't take it on the chin as bad as poor WV, one of the poorest states in the Union. I fee rather fortunate they broke off from us during the war. The whole of the United States thinks of them as inbred, uneducated, hillbillies. There is about 5 to maybe 10 % of the population that truly own that moniker! The problem is they are such loud mouth nasties, they always leave an impression on those they meet.

Spa, all a right to work state does is allow a worker to have a choice in whether they want to join the union or not if there is a union at that facility. Even though it keeps the facility from being a closed shop (meaning you must join the union to work there), the worker can choose to pay the union to represent them if the need arises. Indiana is an at will state which means an employer doesn't have to have a reason to terminate your employment. How's everyone this fine and sunny Monday? Well, not sunny here but it must be somewhere in the world lol. I'm good.. Getting ready for one last evening class and then I can relax 'til the end of the year.. As far as night classes go. Still got two more kids concerts to get through then we done for the year. Saturday was hectic as hell but well worth it. Had to literally be in three places at one time. Managed to do the morning rehearsal, then Zoey's first Ballet show at the same time as Zakk's karate grading. Lucky they have two parents lol. So we split up and each grabbed a kid and headed to an event. Then Zoey's second ballet show was in the evening so I had that shift. Craig had to do sound for the CMA fallen bikers memorial and then CMA meeting so I hardly saw him all of yesterday. Well tired and looking forward to the week so that we can see each other and get some rest! lol
