crue and twisted, I just couldnt get my head arround them somehow
think I am doing sabath, but Dio era sabbath. was thinking of trashed, teach the older kids there about drinking and driving. who knows. still in the works
they lip sync and air guitar it all, so no actual singing required

Thinking of it, Sabbath might be easier on the ol' voice box. War Pigs strikes me as a bit easier than Ace of Spades! LOL!
Hey, maybe not. Get the singer to smoke a couple of packs of cigs a day as you practice. Might be able to sound like a little Lemmy.

I havent even seen all those. first metalica was the black album. pyromania passed me by, although I did have a concert shirt from it. still havent seen all on your list.
I did see rush a few years back. now I have no use for them. that just wore them out for me. same with dreamtheater.
if priest goes, they go. I would like more stuff in the vein of AOR, but they have given us lots over the years.

J.D.. I agree with both of your posts this morning. I get ripped when I say what you said about Priest but I think they wasted every opportunity to "work" since Rob's return. That is the number 1 reason I wish Ripper would have stayed. He didn't change their music they did. He did what they ask of him and they were working. Your comments about Saxon are the very reasons I listen to MRH so much. Except for where they come from and their musical styles these two bands are very similar. They both have a similar amount of likes on facebook. (meaningless, just showing they have similar fanbases). MRH comes out with a new disc by years end or early 14'. I'm going to see them in February for the 20th time. Can't wait. Edited at: Friday, November 29, 2013 11:58:36 PM |

Brian_Evans,
Where is Biff? He is nowhere to be found on this list. This list and competition is made up of top 40 trendy idiots like Eddie Trunk from "That Retarded Metal Show",and other idiots like "YOU".
Where is Biff? He is busy not making the money Judas Priest or Iron miaden makes,he is sleeping on cheap bus seats, eating stale food, playing small clubs that Priest or Maiden are too good and popular for, and is busy cranking out underground quality british heavy metal one album after the next....something Judas Priest and Iron Maiden haven't been able to do for over 30 years now. |

I bought tickets to see Gemini Syndrome in early December. I messaged them on facebook and ask them if they would place the wife and I on their guestlist and they said yes just to remind them closer to the show. I'm starting to love their disc and I really appreciate how these guys stick to their word. A good band and it seems like they're good guys also. Some here may like some of their disc, it has hints of Nu Metal but for the most part it's not. They have clean vocals most of the time but his singing style may not appeal to all. If I had to label them I would call them Nu Progressive. Yeah I made that up lets just hope it doesn't stick. To me it's all metal. I never really try to break it down anymore.

You beat me to it. I agree 100%. It would have been easily 25+ years ago when that would have been possible ($1 USD to cross the tunnel $1.25 Can) and nobody would take bills. COINS, sure. Quarters especially. At Harpos a beer was a buck USD but even if it were $1.10 USD, you'd only get change back. NEVER saw bills being passed. Loonies? Hardly. As HB said, it would have taken a lot of drinking (and quarters) to even come close to making $. Nope. Bit of a stretch there even back in the day.
They WERE (and ARE) right about the old layout and all the bands that must past through Harpos as a "right-of-passage" to repeat the term. I could add a hundred big names to that list. Dance floor with lights and monitors? Yes. Always metal vids. Way kewl. Still is, IMO. Just don't wear any gang colors! LOL!!
[Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Head banger from Wednesday, November 06, 2013 8:12:48 PM) | | Head banger wrote: | | That woud have been quite a while ago, but our dollar at one point was worth 60 cents US. so, you would need a shitload of change to turn a profit if someone took it at par. smaller places that used to happen and was a big draw. now our dollar is almost worth the same as yours so the benefit of crossing the boarder is only seeing more bands I guess. oh and weaker beer.
| | Budred wrote: | | Overall the experience was pretty cool. I met a couple of Canadians who said they came over from Ontario across the bridge to Canada. They were telling me that they have been going to Harpos for at least 25 years. They said everyone has played there and named quite a few that they went to. Tesla, Run DMC, Kid Rock, Lamb Of God, Wasp, and others. They mentioned things about the club, like it used to have a lit dance floor and giant monitors. I forget other things they told me. They told me they used to come over to America to drink all the time. I don't know if they were telling me the truth or not but they said something about coming over with Canadian money, buying drinks and getting change with American money, and exchanging that when they got back to Canadian currency again and making money out of it. They laughed about coming here to drink and getting money back. Can anyone explain this or let me know it's not possible. I'm skeptical but I don't know. I probably wouldn't go back. Any big shows with no parking would freak me out up there. I've been in the City at night, Miami, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and a few others but this had a different vibe to it. Then I read today about Detroit getting a white mayor for the first time in decades and one of his first issues is dealing with how dangerous and violent Detroit is. I got in, I got out, I'm good! (lol)

That woud have been quite a while ago, but our dollar at one point was worth 60 cents US. so, you would need a shitload of change to turn a profit if someone took it at par. smaller places that used to happen and was a big draw. now our dollar is almost worth the same as yours so the benefit of crossing the boarder is only seeing more bands I guess. oh and weaker beer.

HAAAAA!!!! You KNOW Harpos! I know the exact market you did your "Detroit turn" on and glad you found the parking lot. Look at my 'vacation pics' and you'll see that I spun around in the same lot.
As I said before, I park on the street but RUN! Never had a problem (knock on wood).
Mecca of metal, mon ami. Glad you survived! Of course, I'd be glad to see any photos you want to share.

I got a little nervous when about a mile from the exit I started to notice graffitti all over the on ramps. Nothing new but then about 1/2 mile to go and now I'm seeing the poles covered and graffitti on the highway signs and I was like "great", freakin' gangs, or at least "the hood". Took the exit and when I got on the street leading to Harpos all I saw were "brothers". I am not a racist but I do care about my well being so I wasn't liking that. Then driving by Harpos I didn't notice parking and drove to a supermarket a couple of buildings away. Looked at the clientel and thought my car will be gone by time I get back out here. I drove back towards the club and turned in next to it and saw parking in the rear. So glad the crowd was small so I didn't have an issue parking. I may have just left if I would have had to park anywhere else. I was amazed at how big the inside is once you get inside. That floor though (in my mind) sucks. Raise your hands all the way above your head and your wrists hit the stage. I got a spot at the rail above the floor to the right side. Perfect view and I got some great videos. I may post one for you just because of where it is from. I have a cool pic from outside I'll post when I get it to my computer. That was my 19th MRH show and sixth this year. I may get one more chance this year, depends on the weather. Their Xmas show is next month. I may skip it though. 6 times in one year is good I guess.(lol) Take care.

a couple of corrections. I said on ramp and meant overpasses and I said to the right of the stage and it was to the left.

Well, I sure have been busy! Fall is here and is the busy time for the chimney sweep. Hell, I've had three of my "climbing boys" stuck in as many flues this month alone!
Hell of a time getting them out of there. If only those six-year-olds would pay closer attention to their training.

I've seen these gallons in flower beds. I've never seen so many placed at the edge of the lawn. Just HAD to take a pic.
Does it work? Eh, not really. Those gallons were there since earlier this week and I can still smell some cat poop from their direction.
