A happy Saturday morning to all...3 or 4 of you that don't post 100+ spam posts a day.
'Tis a beautiful morning here. Cloudy skies, no wind, temps in the 60s...

Steel Panther came up first, of course. That was a riot. I almost busted my gut laughing at the antics of the band members. Lyrics, especially. Feels as though this is how it would sound like if glam metal bands were honest about love (and about…uhhh…love-making). There were a lot of Steel Panther fans in the pit, believe it or not. There was one fan that was dressed as the guitarist. Another fan next to me drew portraits of the band members, and is also a fan of JP. It would be his first time seeing the latter. Glad I found him, too, ‘cause it got crazy in my part of the pit during JP’s set. Drunk bastards were leaning all over us trying to get to the front. BUT! We didn't let 'em. Heh.
ANYWAY!
Judas Priest. Judas fuckin’ Priest. What can I say. They brought the house down. ROB brought the house down. When other fans say that his voice is better now than before, that he’s reaching new heights with his voice, you better believe it….’cause holy cow, the way he sang Devil’s Child was KILLER!!! The whole set was freakin’ great. I was in awe the whole time. I was practically in the second row, right in front of Glenn. Even in all the screaming, you could hear him say, "Show your teeth."
...and that was my review. To all the first-timers and fence-sitters: don't miss out on this tour!!!!!

So as not to let the ignore blather take over the site, pick up a copy of "Metal Gods" (got mine in Wallyworld) mag today. While they put Priest #4 (after Maiden...harumph), There is a GREAT interview with Rob of some four pages right at the beginning. Now THAT is due respect to the Metal God himself.

Here I had a good bunch of kids show up in the early evening. Then it started to sprinkle for a few minutes. After that it was dead silent. But yeah, weather is definitely a big factor as far as turnout goes...also depending on what day Halloween falls. You'll most likely get little to no trick-or-treaters if it falls on a Tuesday, for example, with school being in session here and all.
Small turnout overall, so there's enough candy left in the bowl to satisfy my sweet tooth for the rest of the year. Heh.

@Head Banger.... no, I have to be "wrong". There is NO WAY that the new album could of possibly sold nearly 7 million copies....I must of mis read what I was reading....I had to of...
...however it is the highest chart position ever at #6 in the U.S. and also the highest ever at #5 in Canada. THAT I know I didnt misread.
But yes,we are all different and some like Screaming for vengeance and dont like Defenders of the faith.....hellrider 90210 didnt like the Vengeance album but loved the Defenders album.
I love the Retribution album, some do not....actually some were saying THAT album sounded a little Halford soloish too...but I disagree with that too....we just "hear" things differently sometimes...unless your budred lol j/k

7 million is a lot more than I though. Chart position is one thing, but thats more gross sales than I thought it would see.
this far in how many would screaming have had?

Yes...in the United States ROS up to #6 on charts.....best album by Judas Priest to achieve this....especially in this day and age of the "tunnel hat".lol but its sold nearly 7 million copies so far.......Touche headbanger Touche lol |

I can see a little Halford sound in this album. which is what brings the album down for me. AOR still tops this one. In terms of sales, you mean in chart position right? surely not gross sales. |

@Budred, facebook is for pussies and nobody wants to "hook up" on facebook don't be retarded.
Oh, and HA...I don't read anyone complaining that the Redeemer Of Souls track sounds even remotely close to "Halfords Made Of Metal" solo material like you were all-so-raving about.....
Also the new album is the most sucessful selling JP album since 1982's Screaming For Vengeance
I find it sad and puzzling that you couldnt get enough of it,then now cant even put it on?
THAT shows you belong on "facebook".
Peace out? Lol

Yes, Steel Panther cracked me up. I thought they were funny and entertaining, but, well, once is enough. As Russ was standing in front of me, I kept thinking, PLEASE play "For All Eternity" or "Into the Pit" or "War of Words" or "Life in Black" or "Nailed To the Gun" or "Immortal Sin"....... you get where I'm going with this Instead we get Glory Hole... not even close to being on the same level.

Home safe and sound! WHAT A NIGHT INDEED!! Absolutely AWESOME show. I'm still shocked at how low the stage was and the fact that I could have hopped right up there if I were so inclined. Rob's head of security was behind the curtain on our side watching the entire night. I'm sure they expected SOMEONE to do it, but we were quite the respectful crowd in DETROIT!! At least I got a first bump from Rob even if he didn't come out to sign. It was very very cool of everyone else to come out and sign for us!! REAL fans brave the cold for 2 hours waiting by the buses. While Richie was signing my ROS bandana, he asked me to "Stretch it tight." I replied, "Oooooohhhh, IIIIII'llll stretch it tight!" He looked up at me with a PRICELESS expression on his face and I just busted out laughing. Richie is funny as hell and he really does fit in perfectly with Priest. Everyone was spot on, having a great time and giving it everything they had. Absolutely worth every single penny we paid through StubHub for those front row tickets!!
As always, it was an absolute pleasure to hang out with you and your bro and to see your mom again!!

FANATASTIC VIDEO!! I cannot understand that some fb fans have something against the new album too....every album is a Masterwork in another way!!
Now it is different, the fans on here like the new album and some of the fb fans don´t like it...strange, but I think most of all fans like the new album very much, everyone has a another taste
anyway...the Priest has never disappointed us....keep the faith anyway if you like some albums more or less,
but the fb fans accept the different opinions, we are united in the name of Priest nothing and no one will ever change this! |

Tried one last time to post pics so no one would have to sit through the slide show. Still can't figure it out. I was wanting some of you to see them.
Some of them are some of my best concert shots.
Alright, I'm really out this time. I wish I would have just chilled when I first started but I was too new to the internet and posted so many things I wouldn't post now. Unfortunately some of it was embarrassing and some of it was regretful and I never let myself live it down. I'm also sure I overdid it with an abundance of posts trying for interaction. Stuff more suited for facebook and such. I spent too much time explaining and apologizing so I'm sure that was a turnoff also. Anyway I'm kind of tired of all that and I caught myself trying to purposely annoy some members here because I'm annoyed by them and that's not cool either so that pretty much sums up my exit. My name is David Johnson and I live in Brilliant,Ohio if anyone wants to hook up on facebook. I keep my friends there to a minimum but I'll accept requests from people here. I feel like facebook is more of the real me. I know too many people on there to post some of what I have here. I wish I would have treated this like that but I think I tried to embellish myself a little here and that was probably annoying also. Too many missteps to reverse course.
Take care all!

I've spent too much time here not to do this. I'll still stay away after these posts. From what I've read it was probably a good thing to bail on LTL. I went to the Pittsburgh show Saturday night and I will say that I was pleasantly surprised. No matter what anyone says about the Epitaph tour in my mind this show blew that away. I think Richie fit in great this time around and his guitar style didn't bother me at all. I think they were very tight with few mistakes and Rob sounded just fine. He's not the Rob of old but no one should expect him to be at this point. I loved the light show and monitors but I wish the images would have been a little clearer on the monitors. Not sure what attendance is like at the other shows but Pittsburgh was well attended. A fairly big venue and it was more than half to almost 3/4 full. I only took one video. All night I was making eye contact with event staff and didn't want to get caught like last time. @HRMG and anyone else that attended LTL that may be considering ROTR. Do it! I know how awesome ROTR is and I belong to a LTL and a ROTR group on facebook and I guarantee from everything I've read that ROTR is so much better. Anyway if I can do this right I'll post a video of Living After Midnight/Defenders Of The Faith and I have some great pictures that I'll post that I'm positive some of you will enjoy. |

I would have done like the one girl and dropped drawers in the corner with the guys! Now THAT was a sight!! Actually, I would have gone BEHIND the portapotty so my ass was only visible IF someone drove by behind them It was quite hilarious to see the guys peeing in the corner while Steel Panther was being interviewed on the other side of the curtained fence!! Perhaps they were giving their review of their set!

Granted no big lines for the bar but the EXTRA long lines for the VIP portapottys made you not want to drink!! Hell, I was moderating my intake before Priest.
Back in the day they would have given 1/2 hour for those lesser bands. KORN WOULD NOT STOP!!!! I remember Pine Knob when they had Metal Church on the main stage. Only a few of us there but, hell, I moved from the hill into the front seats with the 50 others who really liked them. What about the good ol' days?!?
BTW, gluten-free hotdog on a stick for me, please. Uploading the few photos I have as I type.

Why should Priest get the same amount of time as Limp Bizkit? FUCK THAT!! Seriously, I can't believe how many people were into that set. Definitely NOT my thing! Stone Temple Pilots was GREAT and the only band that I truly enjoyed seeing other than Priest. Korn kept playing and playing and I thought, If you go over and Priest has to play an even shorter set, I will HUNT YOU DOWN!!! It was really great to see so many people there to see PRIEST!! A lot of people in their 20's. I really think ROS has brought in a younger crowd which is awesome to see. The people around me knew ALL the songs too, not just the radio songs.
Yes, we definitely needed MORE PORTAPOTTYS!!! But with VIP, the food lines weren't as bad as the regular crowd had to endure and our line for the bar was almost non-existent AND we had somewhere to sit down to eat/drink/chat away from the wind. But the "gourmet" food? WHERE THE FUCK WAS THAT???!!! Like Spa, I would rather have had fried food on a stick than that overpriced crap they called "gourmet"! WHO THE FUCK puts an EGG on a GYRO??!!! BLEH!
The best part for me besides seeing Priest was hanging out with everyone - Ron, Bev, Vail, Randy, Spa and others that are not here on the board!! I truly love each and every one of you!

Rob seemed unhappy about being rushed through the set. He really wanted to talk to the crowd but was unable to due to time - they only allowed Priest to play for 65 minutes. At one point, Rob looked over to the side stage and asked if he was allowed to talk saying, "Do I have time to talk?" Rob seemed dead set on proving just WHY he is THE ONE AND ONLY METAL GOD! He went for the highs with everything he had. Did he hit them all? No and I don't expect him to, but he hit most of them and when he did, the crowd ROARED with appreciation!! Rob was constantly moving - the back surgery obviously has done him wonders and he is able to move pain free again which is wonderful to see! He did not stand in front of the teleprompter, rather glanced at the words if he needed to and then looked up at the crowd to sing the words. I have always been impressed with Rob's humility and the fact that he is always a gentleman. He never puts others down in order to build himself up because he is strong and confident in himself and he lets his performance speak for itself. So for me this performance was a direct answer to both Paul Di'Anno and Bruce Dickinson's negative comments about him. All I have to say to Paul and Bruce is: JEALOUS MUCH??!!
It was a FANTASTIC weekend! We had an absolute BLAST! It was an honor to be a part of such a great group of people. We truly are a metal family here on the Board.
We made it home safely, stopping at a Waffle House for breakfast and Bilbo's in Portage for dinner. Damn I miss my Hobbit Stix and dill dip being so close in East Lansing!! Glad to see you made it home safe and sound!

No Jawbreaker, BTROD, Defenders of the Faith, March of the Damned and a few more that they did in New York. I am sure the rest of the posse can fill in some more. I'd have to look at the setlist myself to be sure but I am tired.
To the 11 or so of us who made it there, I hope you all made it home safely! Whatta blast!!! Great show, all in all. Can't wait until Detroit to "hopefully" see the full NY set.

HRMG I have to agree, ROS definately has caught the imagination of the younger generation....people up here young and old seem to LOVE the album too...ROS is a masterpiece.
There are far far more people who love it vs. people who dislike it......THAT is obvious.
I dont see how one COULDNT like it if they claim to be a fan of quality Judas Priest.
