Cycling is something I keep thinking I need to get back into, everybody at Sheffield Uni seems to have a bike and I would take mine, but I'm hopeless at riding on busy roads. I had epilepsy as a child so I wasn't really allowed out on the roads on my own, plus I first learned to ride in the Channel Islands, all those hills and dirt tracks mean that I've developed a sort of death grip on the handle bars which makes it impossible to signal without falling off...

Not that I can ride anywhere until my arm is sorted (a non-cycling related injury!)

My son was useless at riding a pushbike, skateboards too. Even with stabilisers he'd fall off - kinda makes me wonder how he's now 21 and a biker like dad...hehe.

Awwwwe...It's a beautiful thing isn't it??  And you've got it on tape to enjoy it over again, good for you!!  I share in your happiness.  Pretty soon the whole family will be pedaling on two wheels!!  Trust me, there will be many more tears of joy before long!!!

Hi Ron xx

This may sound lame but I was so happy for him. He loves his bike and is a little introvert. As soon as he took off he was whooping with joy. I had the camcorder going and you can hear him saying to his dad 'you can let go now'.  Everytime he fell off (mostly when he wanted to come to a stop) he'd just get up and get right back on again. He rode past me and said 'mama I'm a big boy now'. I started crying because of a mixture of realizing how fast he's growing up and being very happy at the same time.

Oh crap.. I've turned into such a mom lol.

Good morning Metalians!!

Ok, NO DYING TODAY!!!!

Hellrider, it is a little unnerving  the news the last couple of weeks.  Kind'a makes you wonder!!

Joe, these are the day's why we have kids!!  I remember teaching Kevin and Brianna to ride their bikes, those are the memories we hold dearest to us!!  Congrat's!!!
[joedraper] Monday, June 29, 2009 3:48:49 AM

Monday, Monday
So good to me.. NOT!!
lol

Ok so I'm starting to take these 'mishaps' a wee bit personally now. On a good note, it's not thursday so maybe the 'thursday curse' has passed but last night our washing machine decided to stop working. So with a load full of wet washing we needed to manually drain the machine, hand rinse and do the last bit of washing by hand. Zakk had to go to school with no socks on today because the boy seems to enjoy changing socks multiple times during the day. He goes through a minimum of two pairs and he's a toddler? At least he has good foot hygiene lol.

On a very proud note.. my little angel was finally confident enough to lose the side wheels on his bicycle yesterday. He was so excited that he could ride without falling. He just needs to perfect stopping and starting now lol. Once he's going though he's unstoppable. Now his little sister wants her wheels off but seeing as she's only three I think she'll have to wait a few months first. Amazing how they always want to do what the older one is doing?

Yup. That is why I am WISHING it was still Detroit (as per my tagline)! From what I understand after speaking with mom, it seems that they have been getting rain up there. Nary a freakin' drop here in quite some time.

That is why I am heading up to Quebec then Detroit very soon. You can seriously only work outside in the very early morning or late evening / night here lately.

Nope. Not here. NW TN.

Here it is currently 92 outside (7:30pm). Easily 100F with humidity.

Oh,...yeah thats what I meant,I suppose you would have multiple chords the way it sounds. It must be around 83 degrees there I just read but with the humidity it probably seems like 90.

That and the bugs. Plenty of mosquitos and "see me nots" here (had to figure out what THOSE suckers were when I moved here...damn things are, well, hard to see! HAAA!). Of course, the tree has to fall in a thicket of poison ivy too. That goes without saying...

Blegh, humidity is the killer (so to speak lol) I reckon. Dry heat is easy enough to deal with, not sticky yucky heat.

Ha...well, a "cord" (can't cut it into a chord! LOL!) is a unit of measure. I suppose to answer the question...yes. I'll have multiple cords. However, for a bonfire as I have some 8 more in storage for the fireplaces. Most of the trees on my property are blasted "gumball" trees..."sweetgum," iow. Burns with a ton of smoke and throws off very little heat. Here I have to burn every couple of weeks out of need. I'd be swamped with wood otherwise.

Yeah, Becks, it is freakin' HOT!!! 7pm and still nasty hot and humid.

Funny that falling trees should be the topic of the minute. I am just coming in from chainsawing up a massive tree that just fell over! No storm or anything. Just a monster whose number came up. Almost took me with it as my damn chainsaw konked out at the end and I had the stupidity to try to finish it up by hand. Nope, not in this 100 degree weather.

As you have all noted, too many people dropping dead lately...
