Who's harder?

Motorhead fuckin rocks and is way more heavy these days than Maiden.

I have never been a fan of Motorhead. They played on a bill with Iron Maiden and Dio one year, I went to get beer and t-shirt when they came on on. The bill was Motorhead, Dio and Iron Maiden in that order. In my opinion that is exactly as it should be. Iron Maiden rules and I really love Dio too.

Even though Motorhead is not "heavy metal" and Iron Maiden is heavy metal.....the question would be in which era? Nowadays Motorhead is way "harder" than Iron Maiden by far and Motorhead plays greasy biker hard rock thats still raw.....Maiden plays more progressive melodies and such .....so I would have to say the last 20 years ...Motorhead is harder. In The 1980's...Iron Maiden was harder though.

...MOTORHEAD was one of (if not THE first), speed metal band in the world!!!....but, IRON MAIDEN shreds in a more technically diverse spectrum of metal madness.....so I would have to say; "MAIDEN over MOTORHEAD!"

These bands represent two different styles. Motorhead has always been simplistic, loud, fast, and to the point. Think of all the bands that have covered their songs throughout the years. Beginners to experts love to play their songs. The other end of the spectrum is Maiden. They are VERY technical, precise, and every song is like a masterpiece (if this were classical music). They show much depth and deliberately bring music to another level at times. There has never been another band like Maiden. So.... I would have to say Iron Maiden, but I like the rawness of Motorhead.

I Love Iron Maiden
I Love Motorhead

Both bands have amazing songs and all are great musicians, however, Iron Maiden has more 'music' in their music. Motorhead songs are all very much the same. Of course Lemmy is a great bass player and vocalist (bought a Tshirt of him an hour ago) but Maiden is definetly better.

Motorhead are definitely that, Vail! The thing about Maiden that separates them from Motorhead (how thinks you can possibly compare these two bands is ridiculous to me), is they are not only more technical, but the songwriting of Maiden...look at it. Their songs are about themes...some of them actually real (Paschendale, Run To The Hills, Aces High, Fear of the Dark to name a few).

I highly recommend getting both the Essential Iron Maiden to get a good idea of what they're about, and either Live After Death or Rock In Rio to gain a measure of understanding of just how enjoyable they are to listen too.

I've only heard one CD from each band (Powerslave and Overkill), and I love them both (JP is #1, though). BUT... I have to say that between Iron Maiden and Motörhead, Motörhead is "harder". It's down and dirty rock and roll, and Maiden (at least from what I have heard in Powerslave) sounds "classical" if anything. They have their moments though.

Tough call. Maiden does kick ass shows but I'm eerily attracted to the grittiness of Motorhead on stage. No callistenics required, Motorhead will just show up and play. Motorhead seem like they can go play somewhere in inner mongolia.

I must admit that I dont listen to Motorhead, I have only heard "Ace Of Spades" (Which rules of course)

But Iron Maiden is a band that has a hell lot of great songs. I was on the consert in Lerkendal in Norway, and I must say that they delivered as Hell!!

Maiden and Motorhead are both great metal bands that have stood the test of time. I feel Maiden has more intricate songs but Motorhead has that in your face metal feel. But if I had to choose it would be Maiden. Vocals range and power dominate what I listen to. That is why Priest is still and will always be the GODS!!

Motorhead for me. True gutsy hardcore metal band. Saw them liveat mainstreet, Auckland many years ago and it was a memorable gig. But neither come even close to my love forJP. My second fav band would haveto beAC/DC especially Bon Scott stuff. Hail Bon!!

I think both bands kick ass. IMHO, Iron Maiden writes better songs and their musicanship puts Motorhead (and a gazillion other bands) to shame. What's so cool about Motorhead, is they just don't give a fuck about anything else, they're going to write songs that come straight for your face like an Iron Fist.
