Cheers to our US presidents past, living or not

And to our neighbors to the north, hope you're spending some quality time with the family.

Me, I had to go to school today.  Son didn't, but I did.  ah, well.  I don't make the rules, I just follow the ones that will get me where I need to go - lol

Yup, wikipedia rules. I always get lost in it. The links are great. I once got from checking up an African country (was on the news because there was some sort of a coup there) to the series of articles on pizzas.

(Right, Wikipedia is a wonderful thing)

Happy Presidents day!
[kiamat] Monday, February 16, 2009 12:10:47 PM
(Presidents Day?-  Once again I show my ignorance of all customs and traditions American- don't worry, I'll look this one up this time.)

So glad we don't really have country music over here. But we do have Folk, which can be a little dire at times...
(I do like it though- I was brought up on Spinners tapes)

Happy Monday, and happy Priest Feast week to all the British defenders!
[Vaillant 3.0] Monday, February 16, 2009 12:01:57 PM
Happy Presidents Day and Family Day everyone!!

As far a presidents go, I like Ronald Reagan...because he liked Jelly Beans. R.I.P, Sir!!

Ah well, enjoy the day! Oh, this just in;

An article in the journal called Social Forces said the COUNTRY music is most likely to make you want to commit suicide!!! HA!!!!!!! They analyzed data from 49 states in the US that had the highest concentration of Country radio broadcasts and found a significantly higher rate of suicide!! HAAAAAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!!!   I can't make this stuff up!
[spapad] Monday, February 16, 2009 10:38:22 AM
I took the day off as a vacation day just to give myself a little mid winter break. Presidents day means nothing to the majority of us U.S. working stiffs.
I it's a Federal Holiday which means all federal government offices, post offices, and banks. Eveyone else in the U.S. is working, unless they work for a really cool company who are more generous with holidays than most.
But, it is good to be off today and have the house all to myself for a few hours.
[Head banger] Monday, February 16, 2009 10:10:46 AM

[spapad] Sunday, February 15, 2009 10:10:04 AM
Burn in hell?....What?
OH, the weather. This has been the worst winter in about 15 years. No so much there was alot of snow, just annoying little snows, but the cold has been awful, and the wind at times. I feel for  anyone without power this time of year, it's an uncomfortable and humbling experience.
I'm with you Ron, I think winter started this year in November which is was early for this area.
[Head banger] Sunday, February 15, 2009 10:01:40 AM
having spent days without power due to snowstorms, I know that one should never anger Gaea.  if people wishing you would burn in hell had an effect on the weather, this would have been the warmest ever in this neck of the woods.
[Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Bev from Sunday, February 15, 2009 9:41:19 AM)
[Bev] Sunday, February 15, 2009 9:41:19 AM
I know you tried.  I'm sure my very nature had more to do with there being virtually no winter here  than anything else, Canada.
Think there was more energy wishing I would "burn in hell" than there were good wishes for a winter wonderland.

When I remember the folks that ended up without power for days, etc.  Really can't complain about much.  So I'll shut-up now ... Don't wanna ire Gaea

Morning Freeze...winter startde unusually early this year...early November...typically doesn't pick up steam 'til around Christmas...sometimes we don't get snow 'til January...this winter has taken it's toll on everyone...some worse than others!!!...cranking out some Priest usually helps!!!
[Bev] Sunday, February 15, 2009 8:30:45 AM
Morning, Freeze!

Well, gentlemen, and ladies, winter passed us by, this time.  I wished for winter weather and kept hoping someone would send some this way (sighs).  It hit 80(something) this past week.
[Deep Freeze] Sunday, February 15, 2009 8:27:30 AM
Morning. Still getting snow out there, eh Ron? Chilly here in Vegas and cloudy today. We have had a couple storms blow through and it has been rather nasty. I am staying by the fire! Morning to you too, Bev.
[ron h] Sunday, February 15, 2009 8:23:48 AM

not today, we got a dusting yesterday...but go from the 60's earlier in the week to the teens and low 20's now...it should be back up in the 40's by Tuesday...I've just has my fill already...
