I lost mine a long time ago! HA!! But, where you to have the really old aggies. White ones with color swirls, they are actually collectibles.
OK, enough of marbles.

Now I am feeling nostalgic. I think I still have a pouch of them upstairs.

If not, I've lost my marbles. BWAHAHAHAHAA!!! Sorry, couldn't resist.
[spapad] Saturday, February 27, 2010 10:20:05 AM
Ya know we were probably the last generation to play marbles! lol I bet Vail never played.
[Deep Freeze] Saturday, February 27, 2010 10:17:07 AM
Oh yeah! I remember those! Had no idea at that time that they are nothing more than ball bearings!! HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ah, the good ol' days!!!!

Now THAT is odd!

HA!!!!!!!!!!!!! No no no!! Sorry, my friend. Just don't see myself walking on ice anytime soon. Can you imagine the thunderous tremor caused by my inevitable fall????? Not to mention the girlish scream of agony as my spine disintegrates, leaving me a hulking mass of quivering fat, slowly freezing on the "house". HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAAAA!!! Look it up on Wiki!

Nah, I wouldn't be so cruel. In a nutshell, sweeping can change both the speed and "curl" of the stone. Look at a shot after an opponent "takes out" a rock. A sweeper often will start sweeping the other's rock to get them out of the "house" or target.Speeds it up, iow.

As for strategy, you'll often see what I am watching now: throwing "guards" that will be in front of the target / house. They can try to "curl" around them or hit them head-on to take them out. When I refer to the yelling, it is usually the person / "skip" who threw the rock and is watching the line or trajectory of the shot rock and is shouting at the sweepers to do one thing or another. Sweep with more pressure, less, not at all, etc.

So, when are we going to play?

Yeah, I was actually wondering about that. What is the point with the brooms?? Do they actually have an affect on the stone?? If so, what?
[Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Saturday, February 27, 2010 9:40:00 AM)
[guidogodoy] Saturday, February 27, 2010 9:40:00 AM
See? Becoming a convert! NOTHING like playing it.

10 "ends" (like bowling). The sweepers can get the rock to speed up, slow down or "curl" one direction or another. I prefer watching the women. They scream more! Even better was in the past when they actually used brooms instead of these new swiffers. Wonder if they clean floors too?

Believe it or not, I watched the Sweden/Canada match yesterday. STILL don't get it but it appears to be shuffleboard on ice...

They are heads and shoulders more advanced. I see that the damage has yet to be assessed and that they are still waiting for aftershocks but it is like an 8.8 hitting Japan. Won't be anything close.

Say, watching curling?! LOL!!

Quite likely that they are a little more technically advanced as far as infrastructure is concerned.

Yikes! An 8.8 shaker in Chile? Oddly enough, they will probably have less damage than Haiti.

Great news, DF!! Have fun and good luck! Can't wait to hear even more of your "crappy" music. HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In just a little bit I'm going to put up my Rob poster. He'll look great up on the wall along with several other magazine cutouts I have of him, KK and Glenn. Yup, that's right. I have pics pinned to the wall of people I've never met. Not only that, but I also have pics of Dio and Lemmy up on my wall. Oh my. I think I need to get out more. BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
