I'd hate to be one of you that doesn't like the album. Cranked that shit earlier today and it kicked my ass in many different ways. What a great fucking album. PRIEST!!! (I've seen Priest in concert now ) Chill out, open your mind(hard for some adults) and feel the POWER of Nostradamus-damus-damus-damus,

Musically, I can't complain at all. It was something JP wanted to do for a while and they did it and I really enjoy it from begining to the end and I really liked the fact that there were G.A. tickets in with the record.
My only desire is for their next album to break the speed barrier, as the pace of this album is definitely slower, because it's so long - not that it is bad in any way.
My favorites vary with each listen. Right now my fav is Persecution (it's a song about people who bitch a lot, did you know that?), other times is Conquest, other times ...
Can't force anybody to like it, and my intention when replying isn't to force you to like it, but thanks to this album which took 3 bloody f***king years to come out, JP has been touring and many tickets were as simple and as cheap to get as buying the cd. Of course not for the venue in OKC, but that's ok.

No apology necessary. I respect every one's opinion, and I certainly don't "hate" anyone. I was disagreeing with your comment on what Judas Priest should be about. That's for them to decide. As for the rest of my post...I'll pick Judas Priest over any other band still recording new music that's out there. With the exeption of a non-forseen Pink Floyd CD. Nostradamus is a damned good biography of his life, and perhaps what he was feeling during his life. Even JP members have said it may not be for everyone, and warned us it was a different direction musically. I'm not one of those saying it's their best, in fact I'm not sure where I rank it. My favorite will always be Sad Wings of Destiny, and Turbo 2nd, but that's just my opinion, and for personal reasons.

Its not growing on me, either.  Musicaly it may be well done, but I dont find it likable.  I would go see it done live, if it were close, but I dont think its realy worth it.

No way.I've listened to this album about 12 times all the way through, and trying to give it a chance...but it just keeps getting worse and worse....its much worse than the first time I listened to it. This is not heavy metal as a whole....95% of this album is an opera....sprinkled with a touch of soft rock.  I'm not here to bash the band....but I am not afraid to voice my opinion...no matter how many people hate me for it.....and in my opinion...Nostradamus is not a good album with only 2 maybe 3 tracks out of 23 that are worth remembering.Sorry.

I think, i'll start a thread asking which albums/c.d.'s you loved from song one, to end of the album/c.d.! Because off-hand i can't think of more then a hand full myself. Is this c.d. one of them? No! That's my opinion. Depends on the type of Judas Priest fan you are? Have you listened once or twice and made an opinion, or have you listened a bit deeper and understood just what the message you were to recieve was recieved? I didn't get it at first,i thought, this isn't anything i've ever heard from these guys? But then i listened again and again, each time alittle deeper, and low and be-hold, i got it! Now i'll admit it's not my favorite priest c.d.. but it has a life of it's own,a sound of it's own. I guess what i'm trying to say is... don't use previous material from the band to compare this c.d. to! If you do, chances are you'll not like it. Is it a 10, no way.  A 7.0-7.5, isn't to far off, if you open you ears, and mind... In the end, no this isn't the downfall of Priest.

Thank you, thank you. *I take a bow.* It's not often my brain, and fingers work together in such a synchronized way, but my thoughts were clear in that post.

I couldn't dis-agree with you more. Judas Priest decides what they are about. Should this course they have chosen become their style of "Heavy Metal Opera" music...then I am going along for the ride. I personally didn't want anything that we've heard before. They've already perfected that style of music, and the resiliance of all their previous works speak for themselves. As shall Nostradamus in the years to come. The next project may be even more different than this, or anything else, and I will embrace it with open arms, and mind as well.

Whatever then,I dis-agree in more ways than one. I couldn't dis-agree with you more. I love Judas Priest, but this is really not the direction they should be heading. Why are there 10 ballads on this album............I think they have "over-done-it" with the  "Nostradamus" album.Judas Priest is not about "Opera"......they should be about "Heavy Metal",and thats what they have left behind for this album as a whole......will they ever be back with a vengeance"??????

I grew up with Priest, I am 42 yrs. old, and they're like family to me.  I may not always like them, but I will always love them.
Keep Rock'n!!

That's a load of crap!

I'm kind of thinking that Nostradamus is Priest's finest hour, in many ways.
[J.D. DIAMOND] Tuesday, August 19, 2008 4:59:56 AM
I think its funny how JudasPriest4Ever creates this thread and gets smashed, trashed and thrashed........(wasn't that a Kiss best of album title or somthin'?lol!)
I agree with the title of this thread because I think it makes sense.

I love Judas Priest and I have for nearly 30 years.....they are my all time favorite band and I appreciate the 100% effort they put into the Nostradamus album........but that doesn't mean I have to like it. I think that if they were to follow this format in any way shape or form, then this could very well be "The Downfall Of Judas Priest" .......in my opinion.  If that means I'm not a Priest fan to any of you, then so be it....I'm not a Priest fan then,ok by me. I am not an "opera fan"....I am not a "music" fan....I am a "metal fan". And to me,Nostradamus as a whole is not "metal".
Have fun on the corner of "butthurt and bent".

The one thing I can say about Nostradamus is that the more you listen to Nos.  The more you Appreciate KK,Glenn,Ian and Scott as Great musicians and Rob being a Great singer. They wanted to try something new and out of the box and they did. Mission accomplished.

I had reservations about this recording which I spoke about on here some time ago.  But I have to say after listening to this countless amounts of times now, driving my kids and my sweetie crazy with it,  that this is the BEST recording that this band has ever done.

A lot of us were looking for an album of Painkillerish barn burners.  A lot of us were expecting the natural order, Priest wise, to AOR but what we got people was a piece of perfection that takes Priest into a direction that none of us was expecting.  This music has moods, modes, it flows perfectly.  I am somewhat taken aback to the writing of this music.  I knew tipton and downing to be excellent songwriters but this completely is beyond my expectations.

This recording give us Priest fans everything we could have wanted from them.  I dont know how this can be topped......

Oh and this thread is dumb....
[PRIESTMAN] Tuesday, August 12, 2008 12:43:13 PM
Long time True Priest fans know and accept what Priest has done with Nostradamus  as we did with any of their other releases and New fans after listening to old Priest music will too. The CD debut #11 on the charts that's got to say something. Priest  have in many ways  tried to be the cutting edge and in most cases have. Downfall of Priest? No ! Opening a new genra in Metal? Maybe! Priest has survived for 38 years total from the day KK and Ian decided to put the band together and I really don't see an end in site for Priest. Long live Judas Fucking Priest

Ok ok this is all wrong here, the title of this thread just doesnt make sense, The almighty Priest can never fall

for fuck sakes the mighty Judas Priest are the pillars holding the god damn thing up!!!!
[Justin Kenny] Monday, July 28, 2008 10:43:27 AM
It still eludes me how some fans just haven't absorbed the idea that Priest are a band that are about CHANGE....is it any wonder that no two Priest albums sound alike (the only possible exception being the similarities in style and approach between  "S.F.V"  and  "D.O.T.F")?      Granted...everyone's opinions are going to be just that...opinions...but I still get a twinge of discontent when I see some fans bringing up  "Painkiller"  as the cornerstone of all things Priest  and the absolute standard  by which any/all future Priest-releases will be measured.      Priest are all about taking risks and leaps of faith when it comes to what they create...consequences be damned.    It hasn't hurt them TOO goddamn much...clearly....they're still at it...fans by the thousands are still attending their shows (evidenced by the reviews I've read and the numbers, however approximate--have been stated),  and most importantly...the band STILL looks extremely happy and honored to be in front of their faithful  night after night.     They've never been media darlings...they've never made a tremendous commercial stink about ANYTHING they've done...at this juncture, they know that those who want  to be there most will show up.

Furthermore...at this stage of the game...Priest have nothing to apologize for....nor WILL they.    So...if you're that disgruntled about  "NOSTRADAMUS,"   and you think Priest owe you something for such a shortcoming or  "..downfall"  ...you've  got  one,  long-ass wait.

Being Judas Priest means never having to say you're sorry (speaking strictly in terms of creativity).
