the style and such was different, but without hiring a singer, the band would have died. Priest could not have been dead for 10+ years and mounted any kind of comeback. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Deep Freeze from Saturday, January 30, 2010 11:03:04 AM)

While I do understand that the Band wanted to continue, play, compose, make a living, etc.....I do not agree that the music was "true" or "classic" Priest. Now, I don't blame Owens for that. I mean, as you said, he was just an employee. A singer-for-hire, if you will (as far as WE know). My problem lies with the musical direction. As I have said before, I do not think it was anything like the classic, melodic Priest which we all so know and love.
Yes, the sound was "heavy". In fact, it was far TOO heavy for me. Much more like a contemporary Metal sound than an "old school" sound. As for seeing them live, my wife (at the time) worked security for a show here at the Hard Rock in Vegas and she said that it was like "watching a Priest Cover Band." It did not have the same look, feel or sound of Priest.
I do not like Jugulator or Demolition. I have a few of the songs (through the Metalogy set) and I do not care for them at all. I have heard all the others and I feel the same way. Are they well done? Sure. Are they "heavy"? Absolutely. Are they true Priest? I do not think so. They lack the classic melody that I look for in a Priest song. I have nothing against Owens. He is a great vocalist and has done well for himself since. I do not "criticize" him, as he was just singing. I was not there when he was hired, nor was I involved with the Band on an intimate level so I have NO idea what they said to him or made him do. I believe all of that is conjecture.
When I compare AoR to Demolition or Jugulator, there is no comparison..for me. None. There is no comparison to ANY Priest album and those two. They were a completely different band, as far as I am concerned and AoR proves my point. All it took was bringing Rob back to find what was missing. How that was done is not important to me. Only that it happened.

Then (THEY) discovered Ripper. Rob wasn't coming back and for us and them they had to do something.
Some seem to think Ripper tried too hard to copy Rob but Priest actually dictated that. They chose his wardrobe,
his singing style and so on. Ripper was an employee of Priest. As far as the musical direction Priest has
always evolved their sound so as not to sound the same each time out. In my mind the only problem with Jugulator
was the production more so than the music. I think they corrected that with Demolition. To me there are some
very heavy songs on that record. Lastly if anyone saw Priest on the Demolition tour(I did 4 times) they were as tight and great
sounding as ever. Ripper kept the Priest going. Praise him don't criticize him. Just my opinion, only matters to me.

Didn't follow 'em. Don't know. All I remember is the first post-Rob album was on a sample station at the local record store (anyone remember those?). I was horrified. Boycotted 'em for 8 years out of respect for the dead.

its all in the perception , rerecently the price of recycling aluminium went up about .5 cents a can , this had beer companys scrambling to introduce new price measures to keep there beers at 11.99a six pack because if you cant and you reach 12.00 and your competition managed to keep theirs to 11.99 you will lose big time sales because it is perceived to be way cheaper
[Vaillant 3.0] Friday, January 29, 2010 10:45:00 PM
Why is it that the prices of most store items end with .99 cents? For example, I went to the store earlier today to buy some milk. It cost $1.99. Same thing with the box of pancake flour that I bought earlier this week. It cost $2.99. Why not round the price to two or three dollars? You might as well, right? It's not like the extra tax is one cent...

What's wrong with my good neighbors in O"H I"O??? I read this and and HAD to share with you!!!
Man pays $72 for a taco, says 'Merry Christmas' Fri Dec 18, 9:11 pm ET
SANDUSKY, Ohio – So much for the value menu. A Taco Bell manager in Ohio says a man who appeared drunk walked into the restaurant earlier this week and handed him $72 for just one taco. The manager tells police near the northern Ohio town of Sandusky that the customer who seemed to be in his early 20s refused to take back the money and told workers "Merry Christmas."
Manager Aaron Ohm says he thought for sure the man would return for his money, but he so far he hasn't shown up.
Police are holding on to the money as evidence and say if it's not claimed in 60 days, the store manager will get a late Christmas gift.

I Dont Care Anymore( Phil Collins)...
This song says it all ...goodbye..
You can tell everyone I'm a down disgrace,
Drag my name all over the place,
I don't care anymore,
You can tell everybody 'bout the state I'm in,
But you won't catch me crying cos I can't win
I don't care anymore, I don't care anymore.
I don't care what you say,
I don't play the same games you play.
Cos I've been talking to the people that you call your friends,
And it seems to me there's a means to an end,
They don't care anymore,
And as for me I can sit here and bide my time,
I got nothing to lose if I speak my mind,
I don't care anymore, no I don't care anymore.
I don't care what you say,
We never played by the same rules anyway,
I won't be there anymore,
Get out of my way, let me by,
I got better things to do with my time.
I don't care anymore,
I don't care anymore,
I don't care anymore,
I don't care anymore.
Well I don't care now what you say,
Cos everyday,
I'm feeling fine with myself,
And I don't care now what you say, hey,
Hey I'll do alright by myself, cos I know.
Cos I remember all the times I tried so hard,
But you laughed in my face holding all the cards,
I don't care anymore,
Well I really ain't bothered what you think of me,
Cos all I want of you is just let me be, I don't care anymore,
Do you hear I don't care no more.
I don't care what you say,
I never did believe you much anyway,
I won't be there anymore,
So get out of my way, let me by,
I got better things to do with my time.
I don't care anymore,
Do you hear I don't care anymore,
I don't care no more,

They probably delayed the released date so that those who want to listen to the album can get it during the actual holiday season. With November coming up, there's bound to be department stores already bringing out the cheesy Christmas songs.
