I was wrapping presents in my room and listening to songs coming from the TV, from an XM Channel called Hair Nation (we have DirecTV, so we get those XM Channels). I was wrapping my sister's gift, when I hear the opening riff from Some Heads are Gonna Roll. My first reaction was "Oooooooooohhhhhhhh!!!!!!" in a hushed but excited tone. In a heartbeat I turn up the volume on the TV until I reach the limit.
What sucked? THE LIMIT JUST WASN'T HIGH ENOUGH!!!!!! I HAD TO PUT MY EAR TO THE SPEAKERS TO HEAR IT LOUD!!!!!!!! |

I reckon the Black Album itself is great. It's got some cool songs on it. What sucks is that the success of the album caused James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich to believe that they were the two greatest guys on the planet. When their egos got out of control that's when the band went downhill. What sucks...When you plan a nice lunch for your significant other, and then your parents' call and say the f***ing garage door chain broke and that some a**hat will be out to fix it in the afternoon, and to please watch the house AND pay for the fucking repair! So naturally, I went booze shopping last night, picked up 2 six-packs of Labatt Blue (they were out of Molson Canadian), got drunk and ended up being 45 mins late for work this morning. |

Joe, sorry to hear that. Sometimes guys can be dense about that sort of thing. Ever read "Why Men Love Bitches"? The title is ridiculous I know but it has some great insight on what makes men tick. The only thing that he needed to do was to get out of the house so that all the guests could sneak in. This worked out perfectly because we had to attend a school function for the kids in the morning. So I organized alternative parking; left a key with a friend so she could let everyone in etc. He bitched all morning about having to give up his saturday to attend the kids function at school, bitched the whole time we were there and bitched about it the whole way home. So he gets inside and all goes well.. Everyone is here and he gets a pleasant surprise. Has a fantastic birthday party where the most effort he needed to put in was to smile and enjoy all of us doting on him. He was well fed, well supplied with drinks etc so he had to do NOTHING! He thanks everyone for organizing the party but when they tell him I'm the one who actually organzied everything, I get little more than a sideways glance and a half-hearted 'oh cool, thanks'.
I paid that no attention, thinking maybe he was a bit shell-shocked or whatever. This morning he wakes up in such a filthy mood because people (mostly his own family) are phoning him to wish him happy birthday. He's been stomping around the house in a filthy mood all day and I'm convinced that it is just because it's his birthday and he's a whole year older. WTF happens to men once they get into their 40's? I just don't get it. He seems to be getting worse and worse each year that he ages or christmas comes around. I got him nice gifts that he really wanted; arranged a fantastic party and still tried to dote on him this morning so that he could have a relaxing Sunday. And what do I get for it? A fecking grumpy old fart.
If this is what it's going to be like then next year I'm not even going to bother to acknowledge that he has a birthday. I'll make it a point to call everyone who knows him and tell them to just ignore the fact because he is an ungrateful, grumpy old fart.
We've been together for 11 years and have a 15 year age gap between us. At some point, I began to realize that I was wrong. That I was NOT acting like a MAN. For a real man is a protector. He is a lover and a point of strength. He is a source of happiness and comfort. He is never mean. He is always respectful. A real man sees to it that his wife is safe. That she does not cry. That she never wants. And that she NEVER fears.

Hey joe...I know I've been guilty of trying to fix my own problems when I needed help. The absolute best thing you can do is sit down with your hub and tell him exactly what's bothering you and why. Talk it out with him. If he doesn't get it, tell his parents and siblings. Sometimes, people forget how good they have it. It's very, very difficult to find someone who appreciates and cares about us (regardless of gender or age). You're a really wonderful person joe, and your man needs to get over himself and see that! Let me know if you want to talk about it further. All of what you now know is the culmination of years of learning and behaving in a terribly hateful manner towards my partner. I was mean. I was rude. I was a philanderer. I was NOT a good husband... it's true.

Like the others, sorry to read that, Joe. From the male point-of-view and also someone who has dealt with big age differences in relationships before, I sincerely think you are onto something there. People change over the years whether we like it or not. A big age gap would have one person experiencing physiological (and psychological...often go hand in hand) changes before / after another and that doesn't even take the male-female differences into account.
That said, here is my conclusion: he is lucky to have you! Would that everyone had someone so caring and considerate in their lives. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by joedraper from Sunday, November 16, 2008 5:00:17 AM) | | joedraper wrote: | | Rignt now my ungrateful husband.
I've never ever thought that this would become a problem but his actions over this whole event has made me feel very worried about our future. He's the one letting the age gap become a problem, not me. It has never phased me before but he's changing and I don't like what is happening. I'm extremely hurt by how he's treated me over this. |

Oh Joe Iam sorry to hear that...... Does he get depressed around his birthday? some people do... I do sometimes.
Hopefully He will get past whatever is bothering him.... For some reason Men... ( not all Men ) never talk about what is bothering them. They feel they can fix it themselves... But what they dont realize is that the people that most want to help them and listen to them.. Get pushed away.... I know about age difference too... I have heard ... why should I talk about it.. If I cannot deal or fix it no-one can.... Not realizing that just discussing it.. as we Women tend to do.. alot..lol
Helps just getting out in the open.......
I luv Ya Girl........
Oh ya I will e-mail On scotts Drum stick I almost forgot...LOL

I've never ever thought that this would become a problem but his actions over this whole event has made me feel very worried about our future. He's the one letting the age gap become a problem, not me. It has never phased me before but he's changing and I don't like what is happening. I'm extremely hurt by how he's treated me over this. |

Rignt now my ungrateful husband. I went out of my way to pull together a surprise party for his birthday. I put a shitload of effort into it and postponed my own work so that I could do a good job of turning his birthday into a special day for him.
Its not my job to the hiring or firing.. I just relate the information... They do what they want.... The people that get in trouble usally dont know how they were caught.... But lets not be stupid... When 8,000 worth of inventory has disappeared,,, and there is no money to show or account for it... and you can narrow it down to people and time lines.. Oooopppps.... Thats alot of missing money.... Usally the people get just get fired.. no charges are pressed against them..

However I happen to own the remastered version and following Steeler is a pompous, poncy, crappy song called Red, White and Blue. This song is the most out of place piece of afterbirth ever, it makes me cringe everytime i hear it, especially the cheesy orchestral ending with the cheering crowd. If Priest "unlocked the vaults" to bring us this, my suggestion is that there's a reason there's a vault and next time they decide to unlock it they instead put it on a ship, send it out to sea and throw it overboard. Red, White and Blue sucks and ruins the whole atmosphere of the album. Also the guitar intro sounds like they ripped it off from the Top Gun soundtrack, cheesy gung ho shit. |
