My bro in law ran the NY for the first time this year, beat all the celebs in this article. 3:26 I think. I like that one of the chilean miners did it. traped underground for months must fuck up the training something fierce. I really find it sad that the world is more interested in the celebs than the actual winner. Maybe if the three Africans that took men's 1, 2, and 3 were on "Dancing With the Stars..." | | spapad wrote: | | OH come on Guid, can't blame the guy for trying. I hope Al did good, he tries hard to stay a decent size and it is not easy for him even with the operation. I would hate to have to work that hard to stay a sound weight. |

I'm from a right to work state. Unions exist but are not very influencial anymore.
I rememer when I was a child watching the news on months long miner strikes. The media always went and found the miner who lived in a cabin with an outhouse, who was the most uneducated person to find in the area.
For that reason alone I'm glad that VA, and finally WV, are right to work states. Got tired of people thinking just because of the state I was from when we vacationed north that we all lived on hilltops past Richmond and all have nothing but farms. I really hated that dated opinion of our state. Unfortunately, that opinion is still out there. Not so much for VA but WV is the laughing stock of the U.S. Glad my plates read VA. The ratification vote was about 92% in favor of, which, to me, is vindication of the comittees hard work. In this day and age when unions are getting weaker, every contract gets harder and harder to make gains on. Fortunately, we made no concessions anywhere and made gains all across the board.
Now that this is over with, I can now come out and play a little more and Bev can quit rolling her eyes at me lol!! |

Nice job! I'd love to have 11 paid holidays a year! I'd also love it much if our employer picked up more on our health insurance than they do, but our premiums would go down dramtically if we could get everyone there to participate in the insurance, but it's hard to get employees who work at lower wages to even consider health insurance. As for the vacation, I should be coming up on 3 weeks this spring myself! Now, if they could just give us sick days that weren't such a joke. lol [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by ron h from Sunday, November 07, 2010 7:42:17 AM) | | ron h wrote: | | Bev is well versed in procedure and all things HR, so it was helpful bouncing ideas off her. Some of the gains we made on the economic side are we now have 11 paid Holidays a year, 3 weeks paid vacation, employer paid health insurance and a $.75 raise!!

Well, I must apologize for being so on and off this year. It's been a tough one for me with incredibly high highs and lower than low lows. There's been times when I've asked why, been really angry and broken down and then times where I've been lifted up, comforted and enveloped in the deepest love from members of this board, My God and the wonderful people in my life.
Life has been at a beyond hectic pace this year and not just mine, I get from a sense that all of our lives are just speeding up big time. Scares me to think we're a few weeks away from Christmas again. I haven't even had time to think of what Priestly items I want to ask Santa for ha ha ha! |

Thanks Guid! Although that question was not as "need to know" as the bus question, I'm still glad to have for insane trivia to store in my head. If I ever get enough science in there, I'll be ready for Jeopardy!...................well,...................except the stage fright thing where I would stand there looking straight at the camera with a big dumb look on my face, just like I did when I was in "romper room" as a child. Hair rug and false teeth, Frazier,..........yeh, I can see you "running with siscors!" but not the fussy aspect, Carla, no for obvious reasons although I could be her, so that leaves Norm. HAAAAAAAA!!! I'd settle for the Ted Danson dude...HHAAAAAHAHAHAHAHHAAA!!! Oh well! And Spa, *and we are "real" people here too* I do know that! What I was referring to is the habit many people on FaceBook and MySpace have of "befriending" company pages, famous bands and whatnot for the sole purpose of "bulking up" the number of "friends" they have. It happens a lot on MySpace, mostly by bands looking to appear as though they have a ton of "fans". I try to avoid that nonsense. |
