It does nothing but add to the fuel of people's beliefs that all people from certain states are stupid, inbred, or mafia/gang organized if you go north. It's pathetic the way the media goes out of their way to paint a people with the broad brush of separation and racism. The media is a vulture. Most of what we hear I wonder if you could trust it at all. I certainly would not take an interview with people from what the U.S., as a whole, considers ingnorant states Because it is NOT a representation of the people who live there by and large. I'm sure Jersey Girls with their unique accent are just as down to earth as southern girls with the twang. It's all the same, just how the media portrays all of us.
Now what is really sad, is when they interview a West Virginian, (state nextdoor to me) the media always go out of their way to find some ignorant fool with no teeth who is sporting a ball cap that says "God, Gun, Guts, and Glory" . How sad they feel the need to portray certain states in negative ways. It's all media bullshit.
After this winter, I wouldn't blame you for wanting to head West! It really sucked this year! BTW, before you leave send me those puppies! OH!! How cute they are!!! | | jerZgirl wrote: | | Aww, shucks. Thanks
Oh yeah I still am enjoying not pumping gas!!! And I am hoping that shows like "Jersey Shore" and "Jerseylicious" turn people so off to my state they stop visiting! LOL Too crowded here. Though my accent IS total NJ stereotype.
I visited Pheonix and Sand Diego and am quickly falling in love with the West Coast...if I can find a job out there I will relocate. Warm weather year round!

Hey HB! How about putting the kids into "bands" of five and have them come up with a band name of their own? They can draw their first album cover, and come up with titles for their first 8-10 songs. Then there can be a vote between each band's album covers/songs. The first three bands with the most votes will win a prize. From then on each band will have that album cover as a representation of all the band members.
Or how about a costume contest? Give them guidelines on how to look metal and give some examples (like Rob Halford wearing denim and leather ) before they begin. The band with the best HM costumes will win a prize, and each band can get a group photo while wearing their outfits.
For the hike, you can scatter envelopes, each containing the name of a specific famous Heavy Metal band, all over the trail before the actual hike. When a band finds an envelope, you can tell the whole troupe its history and the role it played in the development of the genre. Play them a song from that band on a portable stereo when the hike continues until the next envelope is found. For a sport, make it a "battle of the bands". Any sport will suffice. The two bands with the most wins will face-off in a "metal festival" of sorts, where the losing teams can pick their favorite band and cheer them on, thus becoming fans of the best HM bands around (heheh). The winning band will earn the title of "Heavy Metal Legends" or something like that. I need a way to turn a hike into a rockstar activity. a game outside would be good too, I could turn capture the flag into capture the rock award or recording contract, but need help on those two. any ideas? |

GD. the canadian program is significantly different from the american. consequently I have no idea what you mean. and I cant find many links online to ours. there was actualy an American boy scouts group opened in calgary. this way people who get posted here from texas (usualy) can still manage their eagle scout, whatever that is.
What is flour wars?\

I am a Webelo leader and I blasted the portable stereo during "Capture the Flag" and the "Flour Wars" at our last outing. The boys said it made them feel powerful.

What about camping on a ball field with a small stage riser borrowed from the school, and bring some speakers, and have a Guitar Hero Match off. Kids know all aoubt it and are good at it. I suck at it, and loose in the practice stage, but that would be a place to start. Sure you thought of it before.
Or, you could go to Melee combat in the woods with paintball or fake Medieval weapons, and blast Some cool Heavy Metal Music while they play?? Sounds like fun to me, and the music would drown out the sounds of footsteps sneaking up on them, they would have to be Really alert.
