Morning everyone! Thanks for your well wishes yesterday, I really appreciate it!
The start of Christmas week here, can't believe it's Christmas day on friday, LOL! We're heading away for a few days on wednesday, should be good.
I've seen on the news some parts of the US have been getting massive snow storms - I hope that if any of you are near that, you are staying safe!

I think its because the buttercream contains an emulsion, which separates when frozen.

While it may be a tad bit late now, I also raise my glass (of apple juice...heheh...) to Beckies' first wedding anniversary. Cheers!

The frosting isn't freezer burnt because it still tastes GREAT! But something happens to buttercream frosting when it is frozen and it loses its consistency. Becks is right, it falls off the cake and it just kind of puddles. But heck, it still tastes good as long is you wrap that baby up really good

It sort of semi melted and went weird LOL! Not to mention it was blue, that added to how strange it looks. Ah well, can't complain, was still good haha.

Happy Anniversary to you and Craig!! Do you have special plans? Did you save the top of your wedding cake to eat on your first anniversary? I remember trying to unwrap ours - I had it wrapped up like Fort Knox! LOL! It  tasted just as good as it did the day we got married, but the frosting would not stay on the cake, it just kept sliding off after being frozen for a year. I hope you have a WONDERFUL day!   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Becks from Saturday, December 19, 2009 3:31:49 PM)

Yeah I understand that but a person can have their own personal ideology. And if someone wants to use the things that they think heavy metal promotes as a basis for their ideology then why not? JD is definately one of those people, he lives and breathes metal and has his own ideas about what metal should be and lives by those ideas as far as I can tell.

No, it isn't! LOL dude! An ideology is so much more than that. An ideology tells us how we should organize a society, an economy or a military. It tells us how we should deal with ethical questions such as abortion, euthanasia, same-sex marriage,... An ideology tells us how we should deal with every little aspect of society. Heavy metal doesn't deal with all that. This can not be said of liberalism or fascism.

Yes it is, an ideology is a way of thinking. It's a belief that guides you.

Off course, but a way of life or an attitude is not the same thing as an ideology. There is huge difference between to the two. J.D. doesn't seem to get that.

Metal can be a way of life. The look, the clothes, the attitude, the music. I think thats what JD was getting at.

I agree with everything you just said, but that still doesn't mean that heavy metal is an ideology.

For quite a few people gardening or soccer is an escape as well. For some gardening or soccer is a way to bond with other people and to feel happy. But it would be absolutely rediculous to say that soccer or gardening is an ideology. It might be a hobby or a way of life. Maybe there are even a few simple ideas behind it, but it is definitely not an ideology.

You're avoiding my questions, because you know you can't answer them. You know very well that your point makes no sense at all and now you're trying to cover it up with name-calling and verbal diarrhea. It's rediculous.

[Becks] Friday, December 18, 2009 5:28:44 PM
I can't speak for everyone here, but for me at least, heavy metal is more than just a music genre. It's an escape, a release, a way to express myself, to connect with others, and find a sense of belonging. It makes me feel happy, inspired, energised and empowered. It is a part of me in a way that I find it hard to explain, but other metal heads should be able to relate to.

Now you're only giving me a definition of an ideology in general, but can you give me a definition of your so-called heavy metal ideology?

Is this heavy metal ideology right-wing, left-wing, centrist...? How should we organize our society and economy according to this heavy metal ideology? Can you answer that?

You're the one who has no clue. There is no heavy metal ideology. Get over it. Heavy metal is music, it's a creative expression, it's a form of art. It's not an ideology. Fascism, communism, national-socialism, maoism, feminism... those are all examples of ideologies. But there is no heavy metal ideology. Period!

For crying out loud...
