Not a mom last I checked but its the rule of 3.
hit 3 months, you go to months
hit 3 years, you go to years
of course near either side of a transition point you can use fractions, ie 3.5 months

As for the Olympics. I caught a women's water polo match while at the gym this morning. USA vs Italy. Didn't get to see the end of the match, but the US was winning by a few points.
