Yes, moronic describes this thread perfectly.

Yes, so I have noticed. Look, you are a regular member here and , as such, you deserve respect regardless of my personal feelings of you. I would love to "PM" you but we are not "friends" here and I cannot do so since your Inbox is blocked.

There are a few of us here that use this place to promote our music. That's fine. It is a wonderful source of exposure for those of us that actually do play. I encourage you to look for ANY way you can to get yourself out in the music world. It is almost always free to have someone that really matters listen to you. It has also been my experience that vocalists are rare and usually get snapped up right away, provided they are able to really sing. In fact, there are many that are NOT very good and THEY get picked up, too! I tell you no lie when I say that I put an ad on Craig'sList here and had FIVE responses in less than 30 minutes. Over the course of a week, I had many more AND several auditions. Each time I went to an audition, they had mics, PAs and recording equipment waiting there when I arrived. I did not need to "buy" anything... not even my own microphone! I chose a band in one week and I am not really all that great!!

There are many, easy ways to get going. I promise you.

That sounds just about right. Well in posting something on this board, of course I wouldn't -expect- any results from it. It is just something I thought I'd do while doing other things in the mean time. I'll take a look at the things you suggested as well as maybe check out a couple of music stores here that I know who do the same kinda stuff with ads. Anyways, if you have any additional useful info with the whole contacts thing, that would be great. I won't lie to ya....this is about the first step I've taken on this but hey, once I get going on things I don't stop.

And in all honesty, I get that. The problem is, Craig'sList is FREE. There is nothing to lose. It puts you in contact with people that DO have the resources you described and THAT is what you want, isn't it?? To find musicians that are looking to make music and are thinking as you do?

How many of your countrymen are actually on this Board, man? Seriously? A half dozen?? Maybe?? You know that. Posting an entire Thread HERE, claiming to be interested in forming a band IN Australia is a joke. There is no one here to respond! You certainly are smart enough to know THAT. The point is, you do not appear to be serious. You appear to be someone that would like to TALK about what you claim you can do rather than do it. (Notice I said appear).

If you are truly capable of doing all the things you say, do it. It will cost you nothing but time. There are sites (I am happy to provide links) that are also FREE wherein you can "put yourself out there" and start making REAL contacts. Having a few friends and family tell you you can sing is useless. Watch ONE episode of "American Idol" to verify that. If you are serious, there are ways to make it happen that will actually  yield results. This Board will not accomplish that.

I wouldn't say that I'm anything of a greatest vocalist in the world or anything as such.  I don't consider the Painkiller album such a bitch to sing besides maybe Leather Rebel and All Guns Blazing. At the moment, I am not taking everything full on because all my money is going towards something else that I have been working  on so for now I haven't got the funds to be putting up ads,  buying recording equipment and programs for it and such. My long time goal IS to precisely do what you said, to put up newspaper ads and make demo tapes, but that will take place around October at earliest when I have money to do so. So rather than doing nothing for now, I thought that this was somewhat of a wiser decision. And since not having any way to record myself etc etc, I simply described myself from what people who have heard me have typically mentioned. It's not any kind of self-rating, but the best possible description based on others' feedback. Of course, there's ads in newspaper to look at as you may have suggested but  I don't want to join another existing band. Instead, I want to start fresh, to find players one by one, each time making sure  that I've found someone who shares the same musical direction as me.

As much as I absolutely detest responding to you in yet another of your moronic Threads, perhaps I can help you in this case?  You see, it is one thing to suggest you are the next greatest vocalist the world has ever heard and quite another to actually be it. In all my years in music, I have yet to meet anyone that is capable of singing Painkiller with "no problem", but I digress.

First, if you are so incredibly talented it would follow that you would make a demo of some kind rather than drone on about your abilities. In this way , you can offer your "sound" to the right people and let them decide who it is you sound like and what, if anything, you can offer a band.

Next, I am not familiar with Australia but here in the States, we have something called "CraigsList". While I readily admit that we here in America are great innovators, I hardly believe we are the only country to have such a service. Surely there has to be something similar where you live? All you need to do is place an ad as a "singer" and you should get responses from others. If you place the ad properly, you can narrow your responses to those that are of a like musical influence. Of course, this brings us back to the demo. I have never heard of ANY (serious) band that is willing to hire or join someone based on what they say they can do or the clothes they wear. You will need to prove it. A demo is the easiest way to accomplish this.

Coming to this Board and advertising yourself as Rob-reincarnated might make for a bit of fun but it is likely not going to do you a lot of good IF you are a serious musician and not some kid that thinks entirely too much of himself. I do, however, wish you the very best of luck as I would love to hear what you really can do. I mean that in all sincerity.

I'll do this in a rather unusual way. I'm trying to form a really extreme hard rock band. I am a vocalist, with vocal influences from Rob Halford, Axl Rose & Billy Idol, primarily. I sing with a really strong rasp, and screechy or heavily raspy as well if I am screamind, I can sing most of Judas Priest Painkiller without a problem. My genre of music is hard rock but the extreme side of it. Song examples include Gn'R songs such as Double Talkin' Jive, Perfect Crime, You Could Be Mine & Don't Damn Me, Skid Row songs like Slave To The Grind, Get The Fuck Out, The Threat and Livin' On A Chaingang, as well as Motorhead songs like Ace Of Spades, Burner and Rock Out. I currently have a guitarist but willing to replace him as he hardly puts in any time to jam, and all others like a second guitarist, bassist & drummer are also needed. I have a great band name already in mind as well as several sets of already-written song lyrics as testament to my style of music. If there are any instrument players in Sydney who are interested in such an act, please reply to this. I'm after a lead guitarists with a bluesy but aggressive style (no dark metal stuff), a rhythm guitarist with a huge chop behind his rhythm to add ballsiness to the tune, a bassist that plays a guitar along the lines of fender bass, and a drummer that is explosive and can occasionally throw in a double bass as a flare, rather than general rhythm.
