But a school in Canada is using a bizarre 3D optical illusion of a young girl crossing the road to try and make drivers slow down.

The image of a girl rears up out of the road to alert drivers to their speed
Critics say that the child’s image could surprise drivers so much that they will slam on the brakes or even swerve off the road if they do not realise the girl is just an illusion.
At a distance it just looks like a marking on the road but when the car is 30 metres away it appears to suddenly rise up from the road.
When the driver is closer than 30 metres the image appears to sink back into the road.

Been a massive earthquake in a city on the South Island called Christchurch, I used to live there, and ironically don't remember ever experiencing an earthquake in the 3 years I was there, but heaps of small ones in the nearly two years I've been back on the North Island! Parts of the central city are in ruins, but there have been no deaths thank God, two men have been seriously injured and there have been other minor injuries. Water mains have burst and seweage lines have burst too, hopefully that is all under control by now, or soon. |

Just one of the many wonderful places here, not to trumpet my own country LOL but I love NZ, there's such variation in the landscapes, it's just an awesome place that I am fortunate enough to call home.

BEAUTIFUL glacier. It would be great to be able to hike around there. Not so sure about skydiving in the mountains off and onto a giant moving body of ice.

Far out today should just be declared over for NZ, there's been a plane crash at a place called Fox Glacier (on the south island also) with reports of 9 being killed. Holy hell....

News really sucks. While I can hear all about Paris Hilton's latest drug arrest 24/7, one has to search for actual news. Just reading up on the mining disaster in Chile, for example. Not a WORD of it on the 100+ channels of crap I have on TV. Imagine being trapped in a hole for 4+ months. Sure makes Paris seem petty.
