As hard as it will be to not see him there, you are so right. It would be worse to see him there knowing that he did not want to be there. If there is bad vibes within the band, it will flow over to their performance. I believe in his own way, he is thinking of us by walking away.

All I can think of is when we went to see Queensryche play a couple years ago and Eddie Jackson the bass player was standing in the back, bored out of his mind and YAWNING MANY times on stage! His heart was not in that performance and you could clearly see it! It dragged the audience down as you can imagine. It makes you feel like you aren't important to them, only their paycheck is important.

I'm not saying KK would behave that way. Far from it I'm sure, because he is a gentleman. But I think that those of us that know him and how he performs would definitely notice that things were "off". He is bowing out now instead of letting his resentment show on stage. That is the professional thing to do if you know that you can't keep it from showing and your heart is no longer in it. It definitely wasn't easy for KK. As I'm sure it isn't easy for Glenn, Rob, Ian or Scott. I'm not sure how the sequence of events happened. Maybe KK was on board for the tour but then Glenn and Rob wanted to do an album and he just didn't want to and that's when he decided to leave? We may never really know. But I wish KK all the best. I will give Faulkner a chance and I will give the new album a chance as well. Change isn't always a bad thing. I will miss KK dearly though and it will be hard to look at the left side of the stage and not see him there.

Yep, and thing to bare in mind is (like Ripper) The new guy was not hanging around like a shark trying to oust KK out of the band. He just happened to be the guy that the band deemed fit enough to play with them. Faulkner is not the enemy here. There are no enemies. Just crappy circumstances that leaves no winners in this situation.
I for one would find it worse to watch a band where one of the dearest members was looking like an animal trapped in a cage... hang on aren't there some lyrics to that effect somewhere on the circut? (lol) But you know what I'm getting at. Rather let him walk away on his terms than go forward with a heavy heart. This can't be easy for KK to have to do. And I don't think it's something he chose. When you feel you cannot go on... You cannot go on.

I want as many of us as we can get together at one show, standing shoulder to shoulder, banging our heads and screaming until we have no voices left!I want to send them off with a BANG! I want them to know how loved they are and how much they have meant to us. At the end, I have no doubt most of us, if not all of us, will be crying. Too bad Freeze won't be there, he could bring his "man bag" and cram a couple boxes of tissue in it Sorry Freeze, I just HAD to. I do really wish you would change your mind and be there with us. No, it won't be the same, but that shouldn't make you forget all the fantastic memories you have of Priest. I hope you change your mind, we will save you a spot. But then again, maybe you will want to avoid what is most likely going to be a cryfest at the end.

Yes Joe, I completely agree. Last time Priest "divorced", I took Priests side and was completely pissed off at Rob until he came back to his metal roots in Halford and then I could let it go. This time around, I'm not really taking sides, I'm just so sad about how all this happened. I will be there supporting Priest, because they have been my ALL TIME FAVORITE band since '82. Seeing someone in KK's place does not "ruin" the memory of Priest for me like it apparently does for others. Yes, it will be different and it will not be "Priest" for me either. But things change and people move on. I want to be there, hopefully with all my Priest friends in the US and say goodbye. I have my memories of KK that I will cherish forever. Now it's time to make some new memories. Just like in a marriage or relationship, you can't force someone to stay when they are so unhappy. I just wish it wasn't the case, but it is so we have to go on the best way that we can.

If Priest were to take what worked best on British Steel, Defenders of the Faith, and Painkiller; and worked off that we could have a great metal album. At least we know there will be a new album.

Yes,I really think Rob and Glenn can come up with something excellent, but no it will not top 6 of thier LPs. I like the Hell Bent For Leather album for example, there are 4 tracks on the album I've never like after all these years : Take On The World,Burnin' Up,Before The Dawn and Evil Fantasies.

This being said in my opinion the new album could be better than Hell Bent For Leather,it won't be able to top the "song Hell Bent For Leather" but I can see it topping the album over all if the song writting quality is there.  Before K.K. left and if he would of been on this next album then it wouldn't of bothered me for them to put one song like "Worth Fighting For" on the new album if done right, but now K.K. is gone I feel every track must be something heavy, either like All Guns Blazing or Bloodstone,or even Grinder or melodic like Between The Hammer & The Anvil and Hellrider the song.

Something like this so there is a mix of sounds, melody but heavy as hell like the Painkiller album has the heavy theme instead of anything "Nostradamus " related.

And who suffers the most in the 'divorce' or the untimely 'death' Freeze? Why it's us the children (fan for those of you who don't understand my euphamisms lol)
We're the ones who will always hold out hope of mom and dad putting their differences aside and making the family unit whole again. Or we're standing by the cold, grey corpse refusing to let go of the stiff frozen hand and let what's done be done.

Instead of hating and being full of rage, I'm choosing to support the rest of the band who are still here for us, trying to hold us together. It's the least we can do for them. This can't be easy for them, left holding all the broken pieces trying frantically to put things back together again and hope the missing pieces can be hidden by their love for us. And the love for their band and what they have put their lives into for the last 40 odd years.

Man, if Priest can put out an album that is anywhere close to Defenders or Painkiller I would buy 15 copies of it. Like you I am sure they are going for it, and I am sure they will shut up all that lack faith! Keep defending JD! We will get a great heavy metal album.

Very well said Freeze. This is very tricky,I guess the new line up is not "Priest" but a new chapter of the band that will NEVER top the magic of the old,but at this point I just don't care anymore. Since the day of the release of Nostradamus July 2008 pretty much 3 long years ago,I've been letdown with the album and "CRAVING" new metal from this band.

And although the new album will not top 6 of thier albums,it could top 7 other albums they have with K.K. so its all about the new album for me,if it kicks ass it might have it's own "magic" ...the band will be releasing it's 17th studio LP and it could very well rate in at # 7 or #8 ,no it will not top the elite Priest albums but this still may kick ass,it very well could be better than Angel Of Retribution and if that happens thats good enough for me.

There still is a part of me that is glad K.K. is out of the band because he was holding down Rob,Glenn and Ian from making another album,or an album that was not going to be a heavy metal masterpiece, that being said this makes me still crave a new album from this band, but I do see why your opinion is this way,I fully understand but I'm siding in with Hellrider with keeping the faith for this next album,it might shock us all who knows.

For me personally...it was way worse, much worse when "ROB" left the band. Sure this still sucks, but I think this new album will be better than the Ripper albums,Rob Glenn and Ian are still here, thats all that matters to me.Again,if the new album is terrible then that will be the day the music will die for me.

Rob Glenn and Ian I'm sure are aware of this and they may try to muster up one of the best albums of all time which could put this album up next to classics like Painkiller,ect....no not as good but it could be close...

Angel Of Retribution wasn't as good as Painkiller or Defenders,Screaming,British Steel or Sad Wings but it rates in at  #6 for me personally...this new album could rate in at #6 and knock Retribution down a notch to # 7 with the new album at #6....that would be one hell of an acomplishment, this is why I still have faith in this new album.

Its good to see such great discourse regarding the band and all that has occurred. I used a different anaolgy when talking to MM about it earlier. For ME, it's like watching a loved one go through divorce. Of course you support them but it still hurts and it will never be "the same". I will always cherish the memories I have of the band and all the great shows. The thing is, for me, it  will not be PRIEST. It will be the remaining members playing as Priest. They will be awesome.  It will be epic. They never fail to deliver. All of this is true.

The thing is, I want to remember them as they were way back when I first saw them in the 70's. When I first was drawn to their magic. I want to remember them as they were on that summer's day in Detroit just a couple years ago, when I was only feet from them.  Without KK, it will not be the same and, for me, that says it all. I am truly glad that so many of you will go and will say your "good byes", or whatever you wish to call it, in your own ways. That is a good thing. For me, it is over. I will always love the band and I support whatever they do, just as I would any loved one. I still love Judas Priest. That doesn't change.

I'm not saying that they shouldn't do the tour. I'm saying they should have let us know what we're dealing with (or what  THEY are dealing with).

If I go to a restaurant where it says "sirloin steak" on the menu - I won't accept a hot dog as an acceptable substitute and be expected to pay the same as for a steak....

It's all good - K.K wants to quit, the band wants to continue, whatever the heck is going on, that's not the issue. The major problem is how they MARKETED this whole thing. THAT's what's bothering me.

I love Rob, Glenn, Ian, Scott - I'm not saying that they are less worth than K.K. But if I'm paying for a JUDAS PRIEST "farewell tour" - this is NOT it.

You know what Spa....your post influence me big time. I take back what I said,I will see Judas Priest live without K.K. if they come to Seattle. Rob and Glenn are the song writters now, even though Ian doesn't write tracks,he will also be an influence for this new album and I'm sure will have "his say" in the matter. Lets give Rob,Glenn and Ian a chance to come up with a "Hellrider" (the forum member) in your face full on metal monster of an album and tour!!!

Well think about it this way too - they will be contracturally (sp?) obligated to fulfill all these tour dates by the promoters - if they quit and cancelled all the dates, they would get in big trouble and possibly even sued.

I guess I would need someone to set things straight.... cause all you people are talking about "saying goodbye to Priest" and seeing them "for the last time".
The way I see it - we get to do neither.

If I have interpreted the info given so far - this is the situation:

1. K.K left before Christmas
2. The band/management (who am I angry with, I don't even know since they as usual have chosen to be so....british about it!) start selling tickets for the EPITATH TOUR - say goodbye to the band blah blahhh - well knowing the truth, but conveniently "forgetting" to inform anyone about it.
3. Oh - by the way - a month before the tour begins - K.K quit six months ago. We forgot to tell you? Oh darn. But we have a GREAT new replacement! You know that guy from Lauren Harris' band?! No? No biggie, it will be SWELL.
4. No reason given for the departure. Just some blah about differences and more blah.
5. Scott lets us know that it might not be the last tour after all.

The dudes in KISS suddenly seem more straight-forward with all of THEIR bullshit-"farewell"-tours than this huge SCAM.

In other words... I've been buying tickets and flight tickets, hotels, rental cars and what not - for the past few months, because I wanted to see my favorite band in the world. All this time I've been played for a fool, tricked into buying tickets for what I thought would be my last chance to see Priest. But that ship has already sailed!

That chance was ON THEIR LAST TOUR, because K.K didn't even have the decency to say goodbye, he just split.
And the rest of them just kept their mouths shut so that it wouldn't affect ticket-sales.

I am so upset and I feel like I've been treated like an idiot, I've bought tickets under false pretenses and when I go to see Priest now, that's how it will feel. It's not right. This dishonesty is sickening and I really HOPE that I have misunderstood the whole situation and that there is some detail somewhere that I have missed.

Because the way it looks NOW - it's nothing but deception and it's sad if this is the way Judas Priest chooses to "leave the building"....

So - can somebody PLEASE tell me that I'm wrong?!

I have supported Priest always since I became a fan in '82. They are my all time favorite band and nothing will ever change that. Even if the new album sucks (and I know it won't!), it still won't change how I feel about Priest. I will be there, hopefully standing right next to you at a show, saying goodbye to my band. I KNOW I'll be crying at the final show that I go to, I'll have to bring tissues! I just wish that KK could be there when that last curtain falls, he deserves to be there after everything that he has given to Priest. I'm just sad that it had to end this way.

I actually shed a tear today listening to Rock Hard Ride Free. I felt like a little girl, but hey, this is my favorite band. Without Priest I wouldn't be the musician I am now. I owe them my loyalty, hence their music has given my life much joy. I will be forever grateful for the good and the bad, because at least we still have the world's greatest heavy metal band. I now realize that we fans of Priest have always been a selfish lot. We have good reason to be.
Why mess with lightning in a bottle?
But we must go on. KK wants us to support the band and I'm sure they have found someone more than up to the job and works simpatico with Glenn. We all fell away when Ripper replaced Rob, because the lyrics and voice was not what we wanted, (we are a brutal judging bunch), and it was not a good separation back then. Not that it ever is for us fans.

I'll be out there supporting them. They are still  MY band, I will miss KK tremendously, and  might even cry, but I'll be there showing my love of my ALL TIME FAVORITE BAND.
I love my Metal Gods. It's hard enough to see a split so late, but I want to see them one last time. With tears in my eyes when the show is over.

Hey gang! Saw the news about KK. VERY sad. Just will not be Priest without him. I had considered catching one of the shows but, in all honesty, I simply cannot see spending the money and going to the "final" show when it is not really Priest.

I know the guys will deliver a tremendous performance and it will likely still be an incredible event but, for me, it would be like going to one of the shows with Ripper. Just not Priest, for ME.

As I suspected when I heard about the "final" tour, this is the end of an icon. They will always be special to me and I will cherish the wonderful memories that Judas Priest gave me. I think that (again for ME) it is just better that I remember them as they were.  I am SO thankful that I made the trip with Guido to Detroit and then again here in Vegas! THAT is how prefer to remember my final concert with them.

Much like this site, I will leave remembering some truly wonderful moments in my life. Some great times! To all of you, take care of yourselves and remember all the good things! Thank you for the great years!

I probably still would have bought the ticket even if this were announced already in December (as Rob's interview pointed out, KK made his decision around Christmas time). Maybe I wouldn't have bought the ticket immediately after it was possible to do so, but I still would want to see Rob, Glenn, Ian and Scott.

Hi guys

Just read this on KK s steel mill and thought u might like to see it can't believe he;s left!!

K.K. Downing press release

Dear friends,

It is with much regret that I will not be with you this summer. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your concerns about my health. Please rest assured that I am O.K.

There has been an ongoing breakdown in working relationship between myself, elements of the band, and the band's management for some time.

Therefore I have decided to step down rather than to tour with negative sentiments as I feel that this would be a deception to you, our cherished fans.

However I would urge you to please support the Priest as I have no doubt that it will be a show not to be missed.

All my love and respect,
