"...they had waiting so long in the hope that KK would COME BACK. They finally realised the clock had ticked too long."
Oh please.
It doesn't strike you as more likely that they were waiting because it would have affected ticket sales if they dropped the bomb earlier?
They "realised" that MAYBE they should say something - a month before the tour? Yeah.
Well then, I guess we're looking at this from different angles, no doubt.

I don't know who's to blame for this mess, and I wish I did. If I hadn't been a fan, I wouldn't have cared. Unfortunately - I DO care. And they can't go hiding behind a shitty management and their bad decisions, like a three-year-old hides behind mommy's skirt when shit hits the fan.

How can I go to a Priest-show now, feeling that they are genuine? I'm sorry, I just can't. At least not unless they tell us what really happened, cause I'm not buying the lame excuses given so far.

I agree, it's a band. I'm still going to as many shows as I can make it to. However, it is a shitty thing to do to sell tickets to people without telling them that KK has retired. They really shouldn't have booked dates without KK announcing his retirement first. I do think people have a right to be upset about that part of it. As far as KK leaving, it is his right to do so and Judas Priest has every right to continue on as a band. They have my full support - I will buy the new album and I will see them on tour as well. I have no doubt that Rob and Glenn have the ability to write an incredible album together!

Guys remember it is all done now! There is nothing you can do about it! It is times like these when we really see who loves Priest! I would spend hundreds of dollars to see Priest with or without my favorite guitarist! It was KK's playing that got me into guitar, and I am fully supportive of Judas Priest! Rob, Glenn, Ian, and Scott all need our support! So quit complaning, and get ready for an awesome show! Listen to Glenns solo albums, listen to Robs; I am sure they can pull off a album and tour together. Judas Priest is not a single person, it is an entity on its own. The Rolling Stones continued without Bill Wyman, why can't Priest countinue without KK Downing?

Point is:
Quit Bitchin'

Daniela P, I haven't had a lobotomy, but thank you for your concern..... to be quite honest with you, it was up to KK to announce this, not the rest of Priest. The rest of the band was giving him time to change his mind and until he announced it, they weren't going to. If you want to be pissed off at someone, then be pissed off at KK for not telling everyone back in December, if in fact, that is when he made up his mind. For all we know, he wanted to retire and was onboard with the farewell tour and THEN changed his mind. Rob said they knew before Christmas, but does that mean on December 7th when the tour was announced or later in December???? WE DON'T KNOW and most likely will not know unless someone eventually spills the beans. Judas Priest was waiting for KK to announce his leaving the band and they couldn't wait for him any longer. Notice how KK didn't even have anything to say until THE DAY AFTER Priest had no choice but to make the announcement? Having said all that, I would be seriously pissed off if I were you, spending hundreds if not thousands of dollars on plane tickets, hotels and tickets to the shows only to find out much later that KK is not going to be there. Most of the people that you are yelling at are in the States and haven't bought any tickets yet. Those that have for all the shows already announced, I really can't say that I blame you for being pissed.

if they thought he would come back then fine.

I can see how fans could be angry, I'm more disappointed than anything else. Cos if Priest make it to this part of the world, the one time I get to see them it'll be without KK but in saying that, I will still give 100% of my support to the other 4/5's of Judas Priest

Hence the reason they should have waited until they knew what was going on before announcing anything, but if they did that they would have missed out on the cash that a summer tour in Europe would bring in. I would be mighty pissed off if I was a European fan. Fans in the U.S, at least, have the opportunity to decide if they want to attend or not after hearing the news.

I know what unethical means, but I think there's more to it and I'm not going to make any judgement on the ethics or lack thereof of it all. There also probably would have been an enormous hassle involved in re-juggling everything surrounding the shows by saying 'hang on, KK may be there or may not, we don't know yet!' - to me that would have been even insaner than what has happened. Fair enough waiting for a solid decision, from the sounds of it they waited for a long time for the final word from KK. It was all poorly handled, but I would rather it be settled than to have everything up in the air and find out when they walk out on stage, woops guess what KK is not here.
Yeah, Gaddafi would probably be very disappointed to not see KK shredding on 'Sinner', lol.

It does not matter. JP is still going to sound good, and still going to put on an excellent show. I could care less if certain people don't want to see it. They are just missing out on a good show.

The damage is done. The rest of Priest is still very VIABLE. This tour will be worth seeing.

[jimmyjames] Sunday, April 24, 2011 5:06:42 PM
Unethical means that something is not right morally in the way it is conducted. If you think selling tickets under false pretences is ethical then fair play but I don't. Doing gigs for Gaddafi is fine as long as when they agree to do the gig Gadaffi is aware that he's not gonna get to see KK shredding.

[Becks] Sunday, April 24, 2011 4:58:14 PM
I think it's pretty extreme to say the fact they carried on with the decision the band made as a whole unethical. Not wise considering, to be sure, but unethical? An unethical decision would be something like if Priest accepted shit loads of money from Gaddafi for a private gig in Libya, where many people suffer every day. That is a true lack of ethics and morals. An unwise decision regarding something that, as I said, the band AS A WHOLE decided, that is not unethical by definition I don't think.

You don't need to know the reasons for what has happened? They don't matter. The fact is they've announced a farewell tour and then six months later announced that the guy who started the band will not be taking part. Apparently they had known he wasn't happy and were hoping he'd change his mind, he didn't. They should never have announced a tour and started selling tickets until they knew what was happening, it's unethical.

I agree with Becks.
No sense in shitting all over this news.
Get real, this band is all approaching 60 and one already beyond. They tried to wait. Wanted to wait.
Management of Priest has been shit for years. We all know that about Curbishly management! Why they don't quit them is a mystery.
If I saw Jayne tomorrow I would punch her dead in the face!
But you wont deture me from MY FAVORITE BAND! NO MATTER HOW DEEP YOU MAKE THE BULL SHIT.

Yeah it does stink, but I am not going to attack the band over it (management, maybe, lol). I recognise that the end of Judas Priest is nigh - I mean, they're pretty old dudes, not that much younger than my dad, and my dad wouldn't be able to rock out every night on stage anymore (if that was his profession) LOL! So I am going to embrace the band as I always have, enjoy the last bit of the ride, and be thankful for all the many years they have given us of their talent, time, and music.

She's right though Becks. What they have done is sold tickets under false pretences. Whether it's the band or their management doing it, who cares? It stinks. As I said in my first post on this subject, what would everybody be saying if AC/DC sold a shitload of tickets and then announced Angus would not be there? There would be an outcry.

Just because we're not crucifying the band the way you are doesn't mean we're not taking it seriously you twit. As for being lied to, if you have read Rob Halfords statement, they had waiting so long in the hope that KK would COME BACK. They finally realised the clock had ticked too long. It has been poorly handled by Priest MANAGEMENT, but I for one refuse to shit all over the band and treat them like crap because of this.

It's funny... either people are totally lobotomized or they haven't been following this at all. It's amazing how lightly people are taking the situation- all I see is comments about how "it will be good and I will support the band".

How can it be "good" when you've been lied to for 6 months you suckers.... Unbelievable.

And to think that some no-name dude is going to make the show better...? The best he can do is stay the hell out of the spotlight as much as he can and let Ian step out for a change. But it still won't change much. If I was in Priest, I wouldn't have been able to even walk out on a stage and look the fans in the eyes. I would have been too ashamed of what's being done in the name of Judas Priest.

I don't want to pour salt into wounds, but what would a show be like with a guitar player almost 30 years their junior on stage? I hate to say it, but I think he is going to step the pace up! This might be the most energetic we have seen Priest in years. Don't get me wrong, you know how much I love KK and if you don't just read my profile quote. But the prospect of new blood does pose the opportunity of more action, and a hard driven show?
Just putting the idea out there.  A new way to look at things. Instead of demise, what about rebirth? Could happen.

KK, you know I will always love you! Would beg you on my knees to come back! But if no, I must look forward to something positive coming from this.

Had we lawn seats, I would have KICKED him down the hill at PINE KNOB!
Speaking of which, remember when they didn't have the bar dividing the lawn from pavillion? Back then, when you went down on the hill, you went DOWN!

It will always be PINE KNOB damn it!!! I only wish you could have seen all the drunk people sliding down the muddy hill!  I really hope you know that I was just teasing you - I just couldn't resist it. I never actually saw you with it, just heard the stories. I will miss you being there with us. We had a great time together in Detroit and I will never ever forget it! But, as you said, you will be there in spirit and we will have a toast in your honor as well as a toast to the greatest metal band of all time!

As hard as it will be to not see him there, you are so right. It would be worse to see him there knowing that he did not want to be there. If there is bad vibes within the band, it will flow over to their performance. I believe in his own way, he is thinking of us by walking away.

[HOT ROCKIN' METAL GODDESS] Saturday, April 23, 2011 12:54:59 PM
All I can think of is when we went to see Queensryche play a couple years ago and Eddie Jackson the bass player was standing in the back, bored out of his mind and YAWNING MANY times on stage! His heart was not in that performance and you could clearly see it! It dragged the audience down as you can imagine. It makes you feel like you aren't important to them, only their paycheck is important.

I'm not saying KK would behave that way. Far from it I'm sure, because he is a gentleman. But I think that those of us that know him and how he performs would definitely notice that things were "off". He is bowing out now instead of letting his resentment show on stage. That is the professional thing to do if you know that you can't keep it from showing and your heart is no longer in it. It definitely wasn't easy for KK. As I'm sure it isn't easy for Glenn, Rob, Ian or Scott. I'm not sure how the sequence of events happened. Maybe KK was on board for the tour but then Glenn and Rob wanted to do an album and he just didn't want to and that's when he decided to leave? We may never really know. But I wish KK all the best. I will give Faulkner a chance and I will give the new album a chance as well. Change isn't always a bad thing. I will miss KK dearly though and it will be hard to look at the left side of the stage and not see him there.

[joedraper] Saturday, April 23, 2011 12:03:03 PM

Yep, and thing to bare in mind is (like Ripper) The new guy was not hanging around like a shark trying to oust KK out of the band. He just happened to be the guy that the band deemed fit enough to play with them. Faulkner is not the enemy here. There are no enemies. Just crappy circumstances that leaves no winners in this situation.
I for one would find it worse to watch a band where one of the dearest members was looking like an animal trapped in a cage... hang on aren't there some lyrics to that effect somewhere on the circut? (lol) But you know what I'm getting at. Rather let him walk away on his terms than go forward with a heavy heart. This can't be easy for KK to have to do. And I don't think it's something he chose. When you feel you cannot go on... You cannot go on.
