You do not have enough Respect Points to post in this topic.

[guidogodoy] Friday, May 24, 2013 10:24:04 PM
I am with HB in that those minor "sand in the banana hammocks" that are bombing the board today don't hold a candle to those of the past. They would REALLY have to step up their game to get to the reason as to why the "respect points" policy was put in place at all. Alas, what of the often intelligent debates of the "politics" thread of yesteryear? While I chose not to post there, the conversations were certainly at a different level. People could state their views in a literate manner and actually defend them. The Guitar thread. Always a helpful one. Even Kmac1 (before we had to move it to Kmac2 thanks to shitdisturbers) was fun and inviting. The DF/MM/MP thread? Produced TWO albums because of friendships that started here amongst the fans.

Now you almost have to time it as to when Vienna is asleep. I would have LOVED for some of these conversations to have (tried, at least) taken place on Rob's real site => the Q. Attila, et. al. would have pimp-slapped all this nonsense back into the stone-age. Así es la vida.

ps. for those that argue that this is Rob's site? Just look at Wiki. No, it is the BAND'S site! Paragraph 2 for those with short attention-spans.  en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halford_%28band%29

I'll make this my last post on Rock On The Range and don't worry I won't include videos.
There was a lesser known band there called Gemini Syndrome. I had heard of them a couple of months prior
because they were opening for a band that I like. I couldn't attend but I was checking them out on youtube and
thought "they" may be the kind of band I like.
At R.O.T.R. my wife and i managed to get about four rows of people from the stage. I was watching them and thinking they weren't
too bad. During the second song I looked at my wife and she was holding her head and had tears in her eyes. I was like "WTF happened"
and she showed me her hand with blood all over it. I took her to first aid and on the way she said the drummer hit her in the head with a stick.
We got her cleaned up and sanitized and we missed the rest of the band's set. Luckily the cut was minor but she got a nice little knot to go with it.
When I got home I left a message on Gemini Syndrome's facebook page telling them what I just told you guys. Yesterday when I went
on facebook I had a message from them. They sent "our sincerest apologies" and said they were going to send me a package. They ask for my
address and my wife and my shirt sizes. They also told me that if I attend another show to message them and they will put us on their guest list.
They are a lesser known band without much of a following but I thought that was pretty cool of them to offer anything at all.
They made a fan of me just by their actions!

I liked that one. Thanks for posting it.
Even the vid wasn't all that bad (until the old-time woman slapped that cool pipe out of the guy's mouth towards the end..lol).

Thought I'd share some NZ metal. Well I think it's metal anyways haha. This is a band from NZ called Devilskin, I really like this song. Yeah the music video is shit but ignore that lol.

[Budred] Thursday, May 23, 2013 3:45:41 AM
Someone here (probably Jimmy J) posted this band here awhile back.
I thought they were cool, not sure if anyone else does or not but they seem to be the  type of band some here would like.
I wanna say "stoner rock"but I never cared for that term. Kind of "grungy" metal, they remind me of bands like "Red Fang".
They put on a good set, really tight and sound quality was good. I wish I would have gotten them doing "Hush" by ZZ Top.
Anyway, check this out. I'm pretty sure some of you may like this.

Wow, don't know if this was planned or not but "Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" ('73 Hammersmith Odeon) is on right now. Featuring who? Right next to Bowie, Trevor Bolder.

THIS is where I first knew him. He was great.

HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, Evening Star shouldn't even be in that list. Should've used Rock Forever instead, if they really wanted to reveal a "great lost track" from HBFL. Or Take on the World.

While always tough to make a list, who put "Evening Star" in there?! Ranked above "Victim" as well? No "BTROD?"
My own list seems to change daily but "Evening Star" sticks out like a sore thumb against a number of better Priest tunes.

There are two songs on this video. The second one has the crazier crowd.
If you don't want to watch the whole thing go to about the 3:15 mark. Probably top 3 craziest crowds of the weekend.

Went to "Rock On The Range" this weekend. Around here there is nothing like this festival.
The amount of people over the weekend and the energy level is like nothing I've ever experienced.
I'll post a couple of videos that I like and I'll post a few to highlight the crowd. Even if some of you don't
care for this type of music check out a couple of the videos I post just to see the crazy ass crowd.

@Accolyte...i have a video of "All That Remains" that I made sure to get just for you. I made a mistake though.
We were on the field and the crowd was so crazy I figured I would go up top to get a good crowd shot. That worked
out but I compromised the sound quality. Definitely a top 5 performance of the weekend. I'm going to be paying
more attention to these guys.

@ JD...I wanted to get a "Ghost video for you but I was too close to a group of security. I didnt realize til later they didn't seem to care.
My wife took one of mostly monitor shots with a digital camera. Not great quality but when I get it to youtube i'll post it for you. I have to
say that I've never seen a band like that before. Not bad at times but more symphonic than I really care for. I watched them because of you
and I don't regret it but they are different. One of those so called "devil" bands that come off as "really" being "one of those devil bands'.

This video was one of my highlights. Stone Sour doing "Children Of The Grave". They rocked it. I have a few stories. I'll try to share a few later.
Enjoy!

Very interesting, I believed on a new hard album, but for me are the changes in their music styles very good! I wrote, if every album like the other albums, it would be boring, but they experimented much, this is what I love on Judas Priest. But, I still love the album Nostradamus and I believe on the implementing on stage one day,  the style of this album isn´t death, the album after the hard new album, will be in another style again! The band composes what the fans want to hear, they give feedback, there are also many Nostradamus fans! I love everything about Priest, so I can buy it, without to hear it, the new album will be a surprise for everyone who loves Priest!

Anyway, I think after the production of the new album, all the Judas Priest fans will be satisfied and happy again!

Sounds like their trying to get that "Painkiller Swagger" back.... it's about time. Richie Faulkner bringing some fresh young writing blood and guitar playing to the table. Everything is set up for a killer album. Just what I was talking about over a year ago.

Hey Hellrider, looks like we're getting what we wanted.

ROB HALFORD: Next JUDAS PRIEST Album Will Be 'A Real Hard And Heavy And Tough Record' - May 16, 2013
Justin Tedaldi of Examiner.com recently conducted an interview with JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford and guitarist Richie Faulkner. An excerpt from the chat follows below.

Examiner.com: For the next project, I know you're all working on a new studio album. How's that coming along?

Halford: Fantastic. Really, really good. We've been saying that it's very important for PRIEST to kind of reinforce again a lot of the elements of what we do and what we're about to follow up from [the band's previous album] "Nostradamus". As much as that was a great moment for the band in the concept world, we want to get back to the roots of what we've been about for so many decades and just make one more great heavy metal album, meaning one of many. What we're trying to say is the next one is going to be a real hard and heavy and tough record.

Examiner.com: Are there any completed songs at this point?

Halford: Yeah. We have four tracks that we've got in the can. We're kind of looking at them again to see what else we can do, and the main reason we're saying that is because now we have Richie on board. And Richie's brought this great life, you know, this extra dimension of energy that has really been kind of infectious. We've all grown to love Richie as a player and as a songwriter, so he's added something new, and that's just kind of reenergized some areas that we're about. We've been writing a ton of material; we've got so much stuff in the can. We're tracking at the moment; we're just taking our time. It'll be ready when it's ready as we've been telling everybody, but it's a good message and a good signal to tell all the PRIEST fans that there's a new PRIEST record on the way.

Examiner.com: Will Richie be part of the writing process for the new PRIEST album?

Faulkner: Yeah. I take a recording rig out wherever I go; you never know where inspiration's going to hit you. When we were out on tour I took a little recording rig… sometimes when you're onstage playing, you get a little flash of inspiration when you [need] to scream into your phone or whatever. And the guys would be walking past, they'd hear it, and say, "Aww, that's a great riff, you've got to record that." So when we all got together — we got together for a couple of months last year in 2012, me, Glenn [Tipton] and Rob, and we threw all the ideas that we had in the hat, and we went from there, really. They've been great — you know, they could have just said, "This is the record we want you to play on," but they [said], "You're in the band and we want you to contribute," and they welcomed most of the ideas. It's just been a great creative team from the get-go, really. I've been a part of it and couldn't ask for anything more.

Read the entire interview from Examiner.com.

Yeah, I've been reading everything I can about it. Like the epiphany he had while snorting coke while driving down the road and decided to switch to alcohol.
He certainly had some sort of pre-existing liver condition but I am still looking at something that gives concrete info about the spider bite.

The neurotoxin in the venom of some of them can be quite nasty. Letting one go for a matter of hours (much less days) can do major damage. Here, as I said, the Brown Recluse and Black Widow are the most common (with the BR EATING the BW). I've known people who have gone blind in an eye just because of shit luck. One crawling on the ceiling and dropped onto his face in the middle of the night. Yeah, REAL shit luck there.

Sure, Jeff had a pre-existing condition and letting a venomous spider bite go untreated for even hours just screwed him. Very sad no matter how you slice it.

WOW! <==a proper interjection, DF. That is just too sad. Creepy at the same time. Died from a spider bite?! My house is full of brown recluse and I am well-aware of what damage they can do having both read and seen it in person. Not feeling the bite is typical as is necrosis of the surrounding tissue. DEATH, however, is not.

Very sad. RIP Jeff.
