TOPIC: Is JP really calling it quits
[Mysterio] Thursday, December 09, 2010 11:32:54 PM
Whats going on with JP. Are they really calling it quits? If so why? Are we misunderstanding what they are doing. Are they just retiring from just touring the world. Or Are they calling it quits like the Scorpions. Without a final CD. I think if they want to call it a day fine. Put out one final album with shorter songs and then tour and then call it quits. I have seen them twice and they put on a fierce show. Even though they are not U2 and the Stones in terms of getting a lot of volume. They blow away most of the competition. I saw Iron Maiden in May of 2010 and I was falling asleep. I guess JP are more in my blood than IM. I have more songs of JP in my I-pod than IM. I hope they can go another 10 yrs. If they want to end when they are 70 fine. I just think at 60 for most the band. Its pretty premature. Mysterio

How Rich do you all think that JP is.  Also, what Album put them over the top in terms of being relevent in the rock/metal world?

I have a lot of love and respect for JP.  It just tickles me that they got nominated for a Grammy, despite the fact that Nostradumas, was a conterverisal concept album for JP.

I think that Metallica will win best Hard rock group.  Priest might be able to win the song catagorie, being that thier veterens of the genre, although its metal disguised as hard rock performance.

TOPIC: Songs that sound like JP
[Mysterio] Thursday, November 20, 2008 8:17:43 PM
What songs out there do you think sound like JP that are not.  I think GnR's Nightrain sounds like a JP song.  It reminds me of Delivering the goods.  Another Gnr song called Locomotive reminds me of Sinner.

TOPIC: Fast Priest vs Slow Priest
[Mysterio] Thursday, November 20, 2008 4:07:43 PM

Do you like JP fast or slow?  I like Fast Priest.  I wish they played YGATC faster.  I think when it comes to Metal.  Slow metal is done better by Sabbath.  Priest should keep everything faster.

What do you all think of faster Priest vs slower Priest.

TOPIC: Priest Riffs vs Maiden's Riffs
[Mysterio] Sunday, November 09, 2008 3:07:00 PM

Who's has the better riffs and what differences are there between them.  With Priest.  I feel like I am on a motorbike and listening to the engin rev up.  Also I think that Priest's riffs are more funky in a mettalic way.

Maiden riffs are good to.  I feel like I am on a Horse and the riffs gallops more than JP.

What do you all think.

TOPIC: JP's signiture song
[Mysterio] Tuesday, October 14, 2008 8:52:38 AM
JP can't go thru a concert without playing YGATC.  Metal Gods, HBFL, PK.  YGATC is catchy and sonic.  I am surprised that it hasn't been covered.

[Mysterio] Tuesday, October 14, 2008 8:32:00 AM

If you wanted to showcase JP's signiture song which one would it be.  For me out of all the songs that they have played.  There is something magical about, You've got another thing comming.  It has everything that JP stands for.

Other songs after that for me are Sinner and Victim of changes.  For me its the cruchy guitars and sonic assualt.  That gives JP that Metal edge.  They are my favorite band after Led Zeppelin.  LZ's signiture songs are When the levee breaks, Acchilies Last Stand, Heartbreaker.

[Mysterio] Monday, October 13, 2008 7:17:06 PM
So what is your expectations for the next JP album.  What do you think is the best thing for them to do.  I think that they should make it lean and mean.  10 songs that are 3-5 minutes.  No more epics.  I want more Delivering the goods,  Hell Bent for Leather,  Breaking the Law, Freewheel Burning, SFV, You got another thing coming, PainKiller.

You got the general idea.  I want lean mean speed.  I want them to look at thier History and make a killer album with hooks crunchy riffs and squeeling guitars.  I want to feel like I am on a Motorbike in a race against the forces of evil.

I have been watching olds shows of JP on stage.  Does anyone want Rob to be jumping around like he used to.  I have the Electri eye dvd, and he's all over the place like Spiderman.  Bruce Dickenson from IM jumps all over the place.

In terms of stage movement.  As long as I see the JP dance that they do.  Thats all I care about.  Does it matter to you all to see more JP stage movement.

TOPIC: JP song they have to play
[Mysterio] Tuesday, October 07, 2008 5:18:54 PM

Every band has songs they have to play.  now just sticking with the Rob Halford era of the bands history.  What do you think they have no choice but to play.

Breaking the Law/Hellbent for Leather/Metal Gods/Hellion/Electric eye/
Green M/You've got another thing coming/PainKiller.

Could any of you imagine a concert without these songs?  I love them.  Also, does anyone think that JP will do a Classic back in time set tour like Maiden is currently doing right now?

TOPIC: Rob's Vocal Voices
[Mysterio] Tuesday, October 07, 2008 5:44:44 AM
A lot of rock/metal vocalists usually have one voice.  AcDc's vocalists Bon/Brian have only one voice.  Def leppard's Joe Elliot has one voice that he an make high and the same with Iron Maidens Bruce Dickenson.

How many voices over the year do you think that Rob has.  Use any the songs to illistrate your point.

YGANT/LAM you have Rob' rocker voice.  Painkiller,SFV/FWB have his Goblin voice.  WFF/D and R/GManilishi have his croner voice.  Plus he can mix it up.  I think that he is a better singer at 57 than he was at 27.  He does not have to sing super high all the.  I love that he can mix it up.

I am a Led Zeppelin fan and I can tell you that Rob along with Aerosmiths Steven Tyler sound better now than they did when they were early 20's.

TOPIC: Tipton Solos vs Downing Solos
[Mysterio] Wednesday, October 01, 2008 4:25:28 PM

I am a new fan to Priest.  How do you all distinguish between Tipton and Downing when it comes to thier solos.

To me Downing has more squeling in his solos.  In other words he sounds like Hendrix/VanHalen.

Tipton to me sounds more blusey.  Its like he leans more towards Jimmy Page and Ritchie Blackmore.

Am I right in that assesment?  I also think that Tipton comes across to me as more of the lead soloist.  Even though Downing can play leads as well.  In my mind its almost like Downing is a Riffer first.  Soloist second.  Tipton is a Soloist first, a Riffer second.  At the show in Winnipeg, Downing seemed more on fire, while Tipton seemed more subdued in a good way, more cool in his guitar aprooch

TOPIC: Selling out on tour
[Mysterio] Sunday, September 28, 2008 12:44:47 PM

Do you all think that JP gets upset if they don't sell out in North America as opposed to Japan/South America?

They were in Winnipeg, and they did not sell out as opposed to Iron Maiden which sold out.  I wonder if that means anything in the greater scheme of things.  I like both bands.  I am a little bit more of  a JP fan than IM, in the sense that I listen to more JP on my MP3 player.

I also think that JP music is better to cover to get a crowd pumped.  I am just waiting For Kanye West or P-Diddy to re work JP's Breaking the Law/YGATC.

TOPIC: Judas Priest vs Iron maiden
[Mysterio] Friday, August 22, 2008 3:32:35 PM

Hi there.  I have really gotten into JP in the past year.  Put it this way.  I have a top 10 favorite bands in my head.  JP is in there.

I have a buddy that is more of a metal head than I.  He Loves Maiden.  So in your view what is the main diference between the two?  What are the strengths and weakneses of the both bands?  You can take this topic in any way you want.

For me.  I think that Iron Maiden are more schooled with thier topics.  JP have the better riffs and to me thier is this suttle funkiness of thier riffs.  Thier solos are assome.  I could go on.  I just want to hear others chime in before I go into a detailed analysis.
