I was a bit disappointed I must say to find that despite all the fans requests, not just on the last poll but for a long time in the past, Judas Priest have still not given this monster its dignity by playing live. Even more so, during the last round of touring they introduced the show with Battle Hymn, yet instead of doing the sensible thing to follow though with the song, they launched into Rapid Fire. If I'd been a fan not following setlists regularly and heard this I'd have been really excited thinking I'd hear this song live for the first time, only to get pissed off by instead hearing it launch into Rapid Fire. Does anybody else feel really strongly about this song that it must be played live at last? It'd be the perfect concert opener. On a side note Death should be back in the set as it's a sort of must play.

We've had a lot of DVD's from various tours but this still seems like one key tour in Priest history that has not yet been represented in form of DVD. While the Operation Rock N' Roll Tour shows were short on the setlist, the tremendously powerful live sound they had on this last stretch of the Painkiller tour was just bone crushing. One of the shows that clearly stands out on this leg was the Middletown 08.16 show which still surprises me that it hasn't come out on DVD, despite many fans' praises and claims of it being the best Painkiller Tour show. If Priest are reading this we could really go with one of these, with an all-teeth-bared style Priest.

Can anybody direct me to some great Southern Rock? I dunno whatever happened to the thread on it that was available a while ago. I know so far Raging Slab, Blackfoot & ZZ Top. Any other suggestions?

My favourite would be:
Battle Hymn / One Shot At Glory
Metal Gods
All Guns Blazing
Demonizer
Devil's Child
Breaking The Law
Metal Meltdown
Death
Saints In Hell
Angel
The Hellion / Electric Eye
Eat Me Alive
Freewheel Burning
Sinner
Painkiller
Hell Bent For Leather
Wheels Of Fire
You've Got Another Thing Comin'
[Screamin' Demon] Friday, June 10, 2011 1:49:24 AM
Are other people also disappointed that Priest not only didn't take our request to play One Shot At Glory even though the overwhelming majority here voted to hear it, they even rubbed it in our faces by playing the Battle Hymn intro and then opening with Rapid Fire. Normally I ain't one to bitch about such things but I consider that a slap in the face to us fans.
[Screamin' Demon] Friday, June 10, 2011 1:43:43 AM
I'm not usually the one to bitch but...wouldn't it make sense if you guys opened the shows with One Shot At Glory? I mean the song -was- voted by majority of people on this board as a must hear, and yet not only do you guys not play it, you even give that Battle Hymn intro to give the illusion that it will be played and then play Rapid Fire. Please Priest change it to One Shot At Glory you know we all want to hear that number.
[Screamin' Demon] Wednesday, June 08, 2011 2:00:18 PM
I gotta come out n' say honestly that I believe Priest's selection of songs from the Painkiller and post-reunion albums is really weak. Painkiller, Night Crawler, Judas Rising and Prophecy is what we have on this tour. I was hoping for something more like Painkiller, One Shot At Glory, Demonizer and Death. How can it be that they Include Turbo Lover while not these. As someone said a coupl'a posts ago, I can see that maybe the setlist was getting boring to KK to play. If it had been up to me I wou. I really hope that they change up their setlist soon and listen to the fans in regards to these songs. So far the Priest Feast setlist seemed to be the most stable setlist that they ever played.
[Screamin' Demon] Tuesday, June 07, 2011 8:56:08 PM
I just saw the first video of the song Rapid Fire with the Battle Hymn intro. I gotta say that is REALLY mean towards the hardcore fans thinkin' they're about to hear One Shot At Glory n' then they hear Rapid Fire. The setlist is quite crazy and fun tho, otherwise.

Basically I opened up two windows for paint, to a good extent drew a white thick line bordering on edge of my body both sides, and slowly erased the background, then pasted the picture of me without any background against the flag and whited out parts on my shirt which got the flag's colour on them as a result of having no colour. Had I sat for hours perfecting it I could have done a greater job but that will come another time. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Deep Freeze from Wednesday, May 18, 2011 1:49:42 PM)

Battle Hymn (Intro)
One Shot At Glory
Metal Gods
Eat Me Alive
Demonizer (Or Leather Rebel)
Devil's Child
Breaking The Law
New Song
Death
New Song
The Hellion / Electric Eye
Freewheel Burning
New Song
Painkiller
Hell Bent For Leather
Wheels Of Fire
You've Got Another Thing Comin'

For an opener, I really hope they do One Shot At Glory. That Battle Hymn is perfect for a Judas Priest concert intro. And the song's flow is perfect for an opener. Anyone agree?

So, what do you think the guys of Priest will do after they've played the final concert of the Epitaph tour? Unless they go to the studio to record one final album, here's what I think will happen:
Halford: This is easy to think of, he'll continue with his solo project for a few years more until he thinks he's too old.
Tipton: Might make a solo album or two and then retire, or he might retire immediately after the tour is finished (after all, he's the oldest member of the band, turning 65 in 2012).
Downing: A hard one to think of. He hasn't released any solo albums, and so far hasn't declared any interest on making one. He could collaborate with Tipton and make an album with him, but most likely he'll just retire.
Hill: Another tricky one. Again, might collaborate with other Priest members, but might as well retire.
Travis: Another easy one, concentrates on Racer X again, the band probably gets more active when Travis is no longer occupied with Priest duties.

Not in any particular order:
Sinner
Dissident Aggressor
Better By You, Better Than Me
Stained Class
Devil's Child
Rapid Fire
Eat Me Alive
All Guns Blazing
Leather Rebel
Metal Meltdown
One Shot At Glory
Wheels Of Fire

I'd nominate the Middletown '91 show for DVD if they released one. I think but am unsure, that the reason they don't release a DVD from that tour is that this was a very dark time for Rob. He felt very distant from the band and unappreciated. It seemed like a time he didn't want to be in it. Ironically, the very last show of the tour and he gets knocked off his bike by a riser. Anyways, I would love a DVD from that tour but I can understand why they may not release one. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by jimmyjames from Thursday, February 11, 2010 11:41:13 AM)

Sounds like a bit of a rip off designed to extort more money from their fans without actually offering anything new. A dvd of Priest on their 1980 BS tour would be more like it. Maybe an audio cd of their SFV tour and a dvd of the Painkiller tour. Why are they flooding the market with junk now when they are well past their peak. Judas Priest celebrate the 30th anniversary of one of metal’s most well-loved albums in style.
Judas Priest have revealed that their will be a three-disc reissue of their classic ‘British Steel’ album released on May 10th.
As well as a remastered version of the album itself, there will also be a DVD and live album of the band playing ‘British Steel’ in its entirety (as well as a few other Priest classics) at The Seminole Hard Rock Arena in Florida on 17th August, 2009.

Right, You Could Be Mine was a bad example. I'm talkin' about their songs like Perfect Crime, Right Next Door To Hell, Garden Of Eden, Double Talkin' Jive, Shotgun Blues. So yes, Guns N' Roses had an extreme side to rock, even though it wasn't all they were about. And to conclude, if someone your own age did this same thing, gut instinct tells me you'd be handling it differently. I don't get butthurt, I just don't sit there and take people's shit. I wouldn't say that I'm anything of a greatest vocalist in the world or anything as such. I don't consider the Painkiller album such a bitch to sing besides maybe Leather Rebel and All Guns Blazing. At the moment, I am not taking everything full on because all my money is going towards something else that I have been working on so for now I haven't got the funds to be putting up ads, buying recording equipment and programs for it and such. My long time goal IS to precisely do what you said, to put up newspaper ads and make demo tapes, but that will take place around October at earliest when I have money to do so. So rather than doing nothing for now, I thought that this was somewhat of a wiser decision. And since not having any way to record myself etc etc, I simply described myself from what people who have heard me have typically mentioned. It's not any kind of self-rating, but the best possible description based on others' feedback. Of course, there's ads in newspaper to look at as you may have suggested but I don't want to join another existing band. Instead, I want to start fresh, to find players one by one, each time making sure that I've found someone who shares the same musical direction as me. I'll do this in a rather unusual way. I'm trying to form a really extreme hard rock band. I am a vocalist, with vocal influences from Rob Halford, Axl Rose & Billy Idol, primarily. I sing with a really strong rasp, and screechy or heavily raspy as well if I am screamind, I can sing most of Judas Priest Painkiller without a problem. My genre of music is hard rock but the extreme side of it. Song examples include Gn'R songs such as Double Talkin' Jive, Perfect Crime, You Could Be Mine & Don't Damn Me, Skid Row songs like Slave To The Grind, Get The Fuck Out, The Threat and Livin' On A Chaingang, as well as Motorhead songs like Ace Of Spades, Burner and Rock Out. I currently have a guitarist but willing to replace him as he hardly puts in any time to jam, and all others like a second guitarist, bassist & drummer are also needed. I have a great band name already in mind as well as several sets of already-written song lyrics as testament to my style of music. If there are any instrument players in Sydney who are interested in such an act, please reply to this. I'm after a lead guitarists with a bluesy but aggressive style (no dark metal stuff), a rhythm guitarist with a huge chop behind his rhythm to add ballsiness to the tune, a bassist that plays a guitar along the lines of fender bass, and a drummer that is explosive and can occasionally throw in a double bass as a flare, rather than general rhythm. Thats why there is no Sinner, or Exciter, or Demonizer (never played live) or anything like that, because its all been released before.
So far the only bonus tracks I know of Angel (Russian) and Worth Fighting For (Japan).

I'm just listening to the album ATOE Live. There are two things that really get to me about it. One is that virtually over half the album is a partial repackage of the RITE DVD, in audio form. The other, a greater bother is the amount of tracks. The fact that songs like Hell Patrol and Sinner, which were played live duging their last tour and kicked ass, are not on the album really leaves you wondering "WTF". I certainly was abominated with no Hell Patrol on this album. Freewheel Burning is also too good. Would anybody else support the idea of the album's rerelease with bonus tracks? I would say a list like this would be great if they ever do....
Judas Rising
Hellrider
Between The Hammer And The Anvil
Riding On The Wind
Hell Patrol
Death
Beyond The Realms Of Death
Dissident Aggressor
A Touch Of Evil
Eat Me Alive
Prophecy
Freewheel Burning
Sinner

They should make a variety, but with a heavy undertone to it. I say a few songs like Judas Rising, One Shot At Glory, Hell Patrol and Hellrider, a few more straight-forward rockers like Jawbreaker, The Sentinel, Deal With The Devil, maybe another evil song like Death, A Touch Of Evil (But IMO Death is just perfect in its right, in a live setting), a ballad perhaps and PLEASE another badass-rollin-on-the-highway song like Wheels Of Fire. I hope the sound will be very heavy and have plenty of double bass drumming in the bruiser songs and hopefully plenty or screams from Rob too.

I'm into singing and use a heavy rasp like Axl Rose & Billy Idol back in 1991, as well as raspy high pitch screams like Rob Halford on Painkiller song (If someone can send me an instrumental of Painkiller I will prove it) and I found my singing style, as well as intrigue in the devil as a Rock N' Roll icon suitable to call myself Screamin' Demon. The original idea for the name came from this monster truck.....

That reminds me of Axl Rose who STILL thinks his band is Guns N' Roses. Just about EVERYBODY knows it's not Guns N' Roses and he still insists on claiming its Gn'R *facepalm*
The most pathetic thing about it all is he promotes his solo band through visuals and audio of Guns N' Roses which they have NOTHING to do wtih. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Bazooka Joe from Thursday, November 19, 2009 9:58:17 AM)

I'm not against any particular song off British Steel being played. I just don't fancy the entire thing being played. There are so many great unplayed Priest songs...especially the much heavier bruisers by this lineup. Would you rather hear all of British Steel again or hear some heavier tracks like All Guns Blazing, Leather Rebel, Metal Meltdown, One Shot At Glory, Judas Rising, Demonizer, Hellrider, Death...

Would anybody like to see a bonus tracks rerelease of A Touch Of Evil Live with some tracks taken off the upcoming DVD? At least all the evil ones like Rapid Fire, Hell Patrol & Freewheel Burning. That would make the CD more like...
Judas Rising
Hellrider
Between The Hammer And The Anvil
Riding On The Wind
Hell Patrol (Bonus Track)
Death
Rapid Fire (Bonus Track)
Beyond The Realms Of Death
Dissident Aggressor
A Touch Of Evil
Eat Me Alive
Prophecy
Freewheel Burning (Bonus Track)
Painkiller
I'd buy it for sure. There is a lack of musical transition between ROTW and Death as well as Death and BTROD. FB would also be cool to put in between Prophecy and Painkiller to raise the tempo.

Shoot, even side 2 is perhaps the best side 2 of JP's catalogue - SFV, You've Got Another Thing Comin', Fever and Devil's Child - this album is strong all the way through.
Now, British Steel (BS) and Painkiller are very close and strong as well; I would go with BS as having the best side 2 of the JP albums - You Don't Have to Be Old To Be Wise, Living After Midnight, The Rage and Steeler (the best closing song out of all of JP's albums).
Painkiller is great too and was tough to put 3rd; Painkiller and All Guns Blazing are so strong that these 2 songs alone put this album as one of the top 3 best side 1s, but with BS opening with Rapid Fire and Metal Gods, then going into the big hit Breaking the Law, with the awsome Grinder and anthemic United closing out the side, you have to go with BS at #2, and really close to being #1.
This my opinion. What is yours?

Maybe their next album can be a bit more brutal? Has anybody heard those deep devil growls Rob does on Painkiller on A Touch Of Evil Live? I think all these nu-metallers need something real to slap them in the face. Having an album full of double bass drumming, searing guitar solos, rhythm guitaring with a sound sharp enough to slice you in pieces and a range of vocals by rob to send a chill down your spine including his strong rasp, his trademark scream and some more of this brutal devil voice he has capacity of doing.

Scott joined Judas Priest in around summer-autumn '89 so that could be September. The guy is an amazing drummer and it would be really nice if Priest throw him a party or announce it to fans or something. It's been 20 long years since Scott joined and I think he definitely deserves some kind of special occasion. Without him Priest would never be as amazing as they are today, studio or live. He leased a whole new life into the band which will never die. Well anyways from me...Happy 20th anniversary Scott, whenever it comes! You are the god of drums! Miami New Times: When you decided to [play "British Steel" in its entirety on
the current tour], did you worry that playing one album in order would eliminate
some element of surprise for the audience?
Halford: It's impossible to have a complete surprise now, isn't it?
Unfortunately, that's the way of the world. Everybody's Twittering while they
eat their lunch and while they're sitting in the movie theater, so it's a shame
really. But I also wouldn't deny the excitement that this kind of instant
connection can create. Because you know, no matter how you explain to a fan that
you've seen the pre-show, or seen clips from YouTube or whatever, you can't
really fully understand or experience the true moment until you're there in
person. It's like watching a movie of the Grand Canyon. It's great, but you
cannot understand what it means until you are standing at the rim staring at the
vastness. I think that's true of this particular show. But I agree with you, you
know. When the Internet was going mainstream, we discussed that. Because coming
from that time of our life, there was the excitement of, "Oh, there's a new LP
coming from PRIEST!" You'd put the
vinyl on your turntable, and that was the only way you could experience it. You
couldn't snag it off the Internet or get an illegal download or a video clip. So
there was a mystery of how [a band] would do it onstage. And to a certain
extent, that's gone now. But it's today's world, you have to accept it. It's all
about living in the moment, and the only way you can live in the moment for a
PRIEST show is to come and see us.
Miami New Times: Why did you choose to film your live DVD at the date here in
South Florida? Was it just a scheduling thing?
Halford: It's a combination of a lot of things. We've been coming back and forth
to Florida since the early '80s. We made two or three records in Miami at
Bayshore Sound, which is no longer there. So we spent many years in the Miami
area, especially in Coconut Grove and Key Biscayne, so we have many memories
from South Florida. The fans are crazy down there -- the metal heads go insane.
Miami New Times: Really? You find that South Florida metal audiences in
particular are really that crazy?
Halford: There's just a very special feeling from the Florida metal heads that
we want to capture. So here's a chance for all the Florida metal heads to become
famous, because the cameras will be pointing on them throughout the night, as
well as on the band. We're very excited that we're going to be making this film,
this full show in Hollywood.

I hate to sound like an ungrateful fan, but it seems that it'd be real bitchen to play a mini suite off of Nostradamus like Sands of Time/Persecution instead of Death or Prophecy like they're playing now. The build up from Sands to Persecution would be a real killer way to start a show, as opposed to Death, which just seems anti-climatic in a way (to my ears)... Prophecy being played live now-eh...not my favorite, and practically everyone I've talked to thought the chorus was pretty hilarious at first listen. I'm "biased" here, as Persecution is probably one of my favorite Priest songs ever, even if I can't sing along to half of it, LOL! It's just so freaking strong. This live album is growing on me though, most likely the "high" I got off of seeing Priest recently.

I ain't much of an Iron Maiden fan but no nobody cared when Paul left Iron Maiden, Bruce only came in and made it better. When Bruce did leave, Maiden fans cried for his comeback and Paul was never part of the equation[Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Saturday, July 25, 2009 3:29:38 PM)

Paul..... WTF HAPPENED to you??? To think I used to actually LIKE you.... makes me sick to think about it. He's just pissed off that Rob made it and look where this guy is now, HA! He's not even fit to lick the METAL GODS boots, who does he think he is singing one of his songs? The other thing about this that really pissed me off is when the guitarist on the left started moving his guitar up and down like Glenn and KK do and Paul looked over at him and started laughing. Assholes..... song by a "friend" of mine? In my book, you don't treat your friends with disrespect and mock them. But you got yours Paul.... look at where you are playing and the crowd you are playing to, HA!
He's just pissed that Rob Halford IS and ALWAYS will be THE METAL GOD!!! Everyone knows who Rob Halford is and what an incredible voice he has, whether they are fans or not. Paul Di'anno WHO??? I don't remember anyone crying for HIM to come back like we all did when Rob left Priest.

Thanks JD Diamond & Valiant 3.0 for your support I just wanted this asshole exposed is all. And to Dave Genocide...that was unfortunate you didn't hear Hell Patrol considering soon enough into the US tour they did change RHRF for Hell Patrol.

I think Priest have done really well since their reunion. They've released 2 albums, done a short reunion tour, full blown AOR tour, a mammoth Priest Feast Tour including a leg of British Steel 30th Anniversary & playing at festivals in Japan in October...totalling to 297 played gigs by the time they finish that. They released a live DVD & a live CD. They are still planning to do a Nostradamus tour (hopefully short) and Rob did state that the next Priest release will be a real strong heavy metal record (as his gut instinct tells him). What more could we expect of the mighty Priest? Yes they are definitely as good as Iron Maiden I would say, so rock on Judas Priest Edited at: Monday, July 20, 2009 7:22:01 AM

Because my favourite singing voice is my high pitch raspy one, which fits perfectly on songs like Painkiller etc. Other than that I'm a bit of a demon. Name comes from a monster truck named "Screamin' Demon"

Great that they put Hell Patrol back in the set. Now if they can just remove The Ripper & Victim Of Changes and replace them with Sinner & Death that would be awesome. The Ripper & Victim Of Changes slow the set down too much. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Maple Syrup from Thursday, July 16, 2009 2:34:43 PM)

This is how you write a review of the show (newbies)! from Metal Setlists.com:
Now it was time for Judas Priest. They are to play the 1980 album “British Steel” in its entirety. A front drop with a silhouette of the Birmingham, England steel factory was put up during the set change. The lights were killed and a laser show of a mill worker pounding steel was shown. Curtain down, we have “Rapid Fire”. It was intense. The Metal God Rob Halford appeared, dressed in denim and leather and sporting a blonde goatee.
Priest ripped through the album flawlessly, yet found a way to make a heavy album even heavier and more metal than it was in 1980.
But of course, there was more. After Priest got through the nine-song British Steel set, they went right into “The Ripper”. They followed with “Prophecy” from the “Nostradamus” album before closing with an incredible showing of “Victim of Changes”. Halford hit the final high notes dead on. It was amazing.
The band left the stage for a few minutes and then we heard the revving of the Harley (which has only eight stage miles on it). He comes out in all leather and performs “Freewheel Burning” on the bike.
The night ended with “You've Got Another Thing Coming” as security allowed the crowd to get closer to the stage.
As usual, guitarists Glen Tipton and K.K. Downing were tight. Scott Travis makes playing some of the hard and fast song very easy and Ian Hill hung back while laying down the bass.
The stage was simple. Two Union Jacks flanked the drum riser. Travis’ double bass had the British Steel album cover on it along with the backdrop. Part of the rig lighting was shaped like the Priest cross logo which was very cool.
I came into this show with high expectations from both bands and left beyond amazed. I will have to put this up there as one of my all-time favorite shows. Job well done by all.

Sometimes they change players, but it's still your team and you stick with them. They're still rooting for us. They still love us to death. Yeah till the end

Well...it looks like us fans' wishes have been granted. Rob said it himself in an interview that "it'll be a real strong heavy metal record." That sounds promising enough. They said that with Angel Of Retribution and it turned out awesome. They didn't lie about Nostradamus being different either. So I'll take their word when they say this about the next album.

What I find extremely abominal is they didn't put Hell Patrol on this CD. I don't get why. They KNOW how much Judas Priest fans love that song, they know it's one of the fans' most favourite songs from this tour and they didn't put it on. I REALLY hope that somewhere down the track they expand this CD to maybe two to four more songs (Hell Patrol, Devil's Child, Exciter, Sinner). I gave it a few listens again and gave it a bit better rating..maybe like 7.5 out of 10. I think it's a decent live album...it is after all what it's entitled...A Touch Of Evil Live. It certainly does have more of an evil overall sound to it. It's certainly very heavy. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Vaillant 3.0 from Tuesday, July 14, 2009 11:59:55 PM)

I just listened to the new live album "A Touch of Evil Live". Say what you will about the RITE tracks, but I'm actually kinda happy that I now have a mini-RITE to put into my CD player and listen to it during my breaks at work. Still sad that they didn't include "I'm A Rocker", though.
Dissident Aggressor was a big highlight for this CD (at least for me). Very heavy and intense from start to finish, and Rob's powerful scream at the end puts the icing on the cake. Beyond the Realms of Death is very beautiful by itself, and A Touch of Evil (the song) is also great to hear without the visuals of the DVD.
Prophecy + Between the Hammer and the Anvil + Eat Me Alive=COOL!! Almost feels as though I'm back at Devore when I hear the songs from 2008!!
The sound in general is crystal clear and the crowds in the songs were awesome!! Oh, yeah, and the pics in the album jacket are a huge plus.
Overall, I give it a 9/10.

I just bought and listened to A Touch Of Evil Live. After taking a full listen, my response to it is going to be bittersweet. The quality of the recordings is superb and nothing less than Priest's standards. Though, there is a huge difference in sound in songs from 2005 & 2008. The ultimate disappointment is the fact that 6 of the 11 songs are just touched-up versions from Rising In The East on which Rob sounded tired, strained and unable to grasp that mid-range growl. Listening to the new songs really shows how refreshed the band is since they hit the road in June last year. Between The Hammer And The Anvil, Death, Dissident Aggressor, Eat Me Alive and Prophecy all show a revitalised and a hungry Judas Priest. Death in particular raises my hairs. Rob has truly come back a hero on this Priest Feast tour and is now an unstoppable leather clad brute. The tracklisting however is too short and too many mindblowing tracks like Hell Patrol and Sinner feel sorely missed. The album is worth a buy, but overall nothing special. I find myself preferring to listen to fan filmed footage on youtube than to listen to the album. My rating 6.5/10 Edited at: Sunday, July 12, 2009 1:51:50 AM
