I'm listening to Never Forget right now. I think this song is about how they feel when they are on stage, playing for their fans. It is their "Thank you for everything" , a heartfelt message to all of us telling us that they love and appreciate their fans being there for them all these years. I think it's a beautiful way to tell us that it's not over yet and that they love and appreciate their fans. I really don't know many bands that would write such a touching song to their fans.
But I know that at some point it will be farewell, and just like you, thinking about that is just too painful. I don't take this song as a farewell, but rather a Thank You.
This album is everything I LOVE about Priest all rolled up into one release!! I have always been hardpressed to give someone just one Priest album and say THIS is Priest. Every album is different, with the band stretching and growing. I think THIS album is the one that I could give someone and say THIS is Judas Priest!! And let me say, it's awesome to hear Ian laying down some AWESOME bass lines! MAYBE, just MAYBE we will see him take that surprising step forward. COME ON IAN, you can DO IT!!
Two of the songs I really didn't care for, "Tears of Blood" and "Bring It On". Not terrible songs just not quite me. Both discs are finished up with ballads. "Beginning Of The End" (disc 1) I like the vocal style and the guitar sounds really good. I think it makes a nice contrast to the rest of the CD. "Never Forget" (disc 2) I don't like the vocal style as much and reading the lyrics it's too damn sad. I'm probably taking it the wrong way(1 listen) but it sounds like a farewell to the fans and for someone who has listened to them for almost 35 years and saw them countless times it's quite crushing to think (even if I suggested it myself previously) that they may soon hang it up. Lastly (for now), for a total of 17 tracks and for not liking only two of them I would have to say that this CD is pretty badass. Once again THANK YOU!!! JUDAS PRIEST!!! for such an awesome CD. I can be proud again.
