Definitely didn't become part of this forum to fight, that's not my nature. But i guess disagreements do happen. Cheers, and the lets start over, okay. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by lalouve from Thursday, September 25, 2008 3:36:41 AM)
I was not looking down at all, and maybe the word "prudish" is not the correct word to use. I had to look for a translation of the french word for it as I had a "vocabulary blank" and I might have picked the wrong one amongst all those given. I was just trying to say that nudity is a more open matter in europe than it is in the usa, at least in the part I use to live in.
And I don't hate you country at all. I don't envy it either. I don't envy any country.
Your response to my post was also typical of what I heard a bit too often when I was there so it brought some painful memories back. But hey, I also have some good ones of course ! And I still keep in touch with some people, even after over 20 years of beeing back in Switzerland.
It sure looks like this fight was due to a language barrier. So, how about having a virtual drink together and forget all about it ?

I actually agree with some of your post. But i feel YOU where the one looking down your nose at my country, with the the statment you made. hencemy defence. And that question of yours is so typical. Your hate for my country smells more like envy.
.....sigh…. such a reaction for a simple sharing of information about different ways of living in different countries.
I didn’t mean to be offensive at all. So let see if we can sort this out.
If you correctly read my post, you’ll see the sentence with “somewhere in between” in it, which means that neither Europeans nor Americans are either right or wrong. I also mention that what I wrote was only my opinion. Which means anyone can agree or disagree with it. No attack there.
Now, what does war have to do with the nudity issue ?????
Besides, you should take a look at your History papers. You’ll see that not only is Switzerland a neutral country, already was back then, therefore didn’t and still doesn’t fight, but also is the country a lot of leaders, including yours, of this world come to in order to peacefully talk about their sensitive issues.
It would also be a good idea to check a bit more about my country in order to find out that we have 4 national languages, one of them being…German lolllll (which isn’t mine by the way)
To answer your question : Am I proud to be from Switzerland? Not necessarily. Like in every country I’ve seen, there are good things and not so good things. I’m simply a child of the world! And I look at what people have inside of them, not at their passports. Which brings me to the last thing I want to say, or rather ask :
Do you have a problem with “non-american” people? I’m asking this question because it seems that you expect them to eternally bow before you (see the old war thing you wrote) without any right to express themselves, as if they were sub-humans ….isn’t that offensive ?
But as I don't hold a grudge : have a nice day!
PS : my apologies to everyone for the possible spelling and grammatical mistakes….please remember that English is NOT my first language

So, your calling Americans prudish, isn't that offensive? Are you proud to be from Switzerland? Good! I'm glade i live in America! I think you should think before you type. If not for us pruds, you would be speaking German!
I don't know which country posted the pictures you're talking about, but as a european who has lived several years in the usa, I can tell you that europeans are a lot less prudish than americans (which should explain the acceptance matter). And I honestly think that to be "somewhere in Between" would do a lot of good to everyone. But this is only my opinion of course. As for the irritation going on in this thread at the moment, I think it's a lot of wind for nothing... is there anyone here who doesn't know what a body looks like ??? Furthermore, as it's already been said : if we don't like a topic, we simply stay out of it. No-go-no-fuss ...

actualy there is nudity, full frontal in one of the forign language threads. it seems to be accepted in other areas. just not in north american dominated english language threads. perhaps no one complained.
