the issue raised was the band claimed none of the songs on the new disc were ever released live, yet were with tim on official discs

Excuse me while I inject my opinion here. JP never disrespected Ripper. When Rob returned to the band they play the songs that Rob wrote with them, not others he did not. You don't see Rob asking the band to play his solo stuff do you? That's it! It's out of respect for both angles these songs don't get played.
No one in Priest ever disrepected Tim Owens and he has a voice so talented that I am GLAD he moved on to discover himself and HIS abilities!

BTW, why was this thread invented?

Hell I saw a 12 year old girl at Guitar Center about 6 months ago that could hang with Scott.  I sat there with my jaw dropped for about 15 minutes.  This kids feet were so fast it sounded like machine gun fire on the kick drums!!

And seriously, why is this thread in existance............!

More like they owe fans of the Ripper era an apology.

As long as they do a venue in New York City, preferably Carnegie Hall, I'll be real happy. It has been talked about, I hope it becomes a reality.

Come to think of it, Rob hasn't released a live album with JP since 1987!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[Screamin' Demon] Friday, May 29, 2009 1:35:28 AM
I doubt they'd spend too long playing Nostradamus album. I'd bet they will do a select few venues around the world to play it. would be something epic to witness.

We all might have to wait a while for a new studio album. Knowing the Priest they probably have new material but it might be a while before they get to the studio. Their anniversary tour of British Steel is one thing, but the other larger tour is about to come our way in the fall or winter. (from everything I've read) They're hammering down the details to start touring Nostradamus live and in its entirety. That to me would be the fuckin' show of a lifetime, seeing them present a masterpiece LIVE!!!
[JT_Small_Deadly_Space] Thursday, May 28, 2009 5:03:35 PM
Yeah but think about it Numero, they are touring the world embarking on a grand anniversary tour, they don't have time to record a new album yet especially when you saw how long it took to record Nostradamus! They are releasing this to fill in the gap for when they come to recording a new studio album and they don't need to take any time away from touring to do that it's called feeding the fans. At least they aint released a million live albums like Iron Maiden have! That is what i trully believe and i'm pleased too cause some of these live tracks are my favourites recorded, Prophecy, Eat Me Alive, Beyond the Realms of Death. It's a brilliant track listing. It's crappy that they have ignored the Ripper years but most people believe that Halford is Priest, he is where he belongs. What they should have said was never released by the definitive lineup! Man i so hope they release another studio album.

Nobody is leaving!! So stop that crap right now!!
And remember, after only two albums with Tim, they did a live CD/DVD...... Live in London!!!????
Seems no one has mentioned this fact, so as for an apology, no they owe him nothing but his royalties for what he sang on!!
[Bazookajoe_666] Thursday, May 28, 2009 11:00:06 AM
No because that's stupid.

There not ignoring the Ripper era. I think they meant previously unreleased with ROB singing. Ripper is probably just as excited about this live Cd as we are. He IS a Priest fan too ya know.

there are drummers who could do those.  not Dave, but he is busy for a while anyway.  I dont think the reaction would be the same as when rob left.  yeah, having scott with the band on defenders would have been sweet

DF, sorry, dont have the energy to change threads.  and hell I dont care about how many threads there are anyway.

I think a lot of fans would be shocked and disappointed if Scott left. We'd have to say goodbye to future incarnations of Painkiller, Hell Patrol, Judas Rising, Hellrider etc and that wouldn't be pretty. Undoubtedly Scott is here to stay until the band retires. My only thought on him is he should have been in the band since 1984 not 1989.

Umm... I wasnt going to comment in here,, but Ripper Owens is still friends with all the Members of Judas Priest Even Rob Halford............         SO whats the point?????????????????????????????????
[_strat_] Thursday, May 28, 2009 7:20:53 AM
Thats true. I guess its because Rob is the frontman, and he has the most contact with the audience... And vocals are always the hardest to replace.

As for the apology, I guess we should let them sort it out. Maybe there was an error in the press release? And if it isnt... Well, I guess Ripper has a right to be pissed. Personaly, I never cared much for him, and there is really only one song from the Ripper era that I like.

if scott left you dont think that fans would react the same way do you?  I dont get how rob is 1 out of 5 members, yes he is a great singer, but he is 20% of the band.  they changed drummers all the time.  if KK left, no where near as many people would react as when rob left.  if ian left, I bet 1% of fans would care.

Maybe the press release wasn't well written, and what they meant was that these particular live recordings have never been released before, not the songs themselves.
[Becks] Thursday, May 28, 2009 12:24:20 AM
I agree hellrider. Also, I doubt any of us would even know who Ripper Owens is if it wasn't for Priest. I think many people here would say Priest is not Priest without Rob, therefore, although the Ripper years kept KK, Glenn, Ian and Scott playing music, they are almost transition years (for lack of a better term), moving forward to Rob returning and completing the band once more. It would be the same situation if any of the current members left, it just would not be Priest.
On the subject of the live album, I think it's awesome, end of story really. For them to still be going, releasing any albums at their ages is fantastic.
