100% correct.  We embraced our bands, and no other came close.  It was fun back then watching all the new bands coming out, trying to be the best.  But you know what?  Our band has stood the test of time and are still cranking it out!!!  Who would have thought?  Being the oldest of 5 kids in the family, I guess I always looked as Priest as my big brother!!!

I got it! Back then we weren't knee deep in shit metal. Back then we weren't overflowing with metal music that just wasn't good! Nowadays there's so much out there, breaking metal into different groups.  Thrash, hardcore punk, British, groove metal, death metal, speed metal, black metal.
Back then, and i'm guessin' Ron ment late 70's early 80's we only had a handful or more of  so called metal bands that where good. Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, Scorpions, etc.(sorry if i left anyone  out)  So yea, they where the shit. They where the shit when the road was still dirt. They not only paved the way, they took all the negative heat in the begining of this movement... And i loved being part of it...

Hell yeah they are!!

I apologize for that not being conveyed in my post.  After re-reading it I can see where you might get the impression that I don't think they're STILL THE SHIT!!  That (of course) is NOT true.

THEY WERE, ARE, AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE SHIT!!!
I still ask though, can a person be a fan of one and not the other?

What do you mean they were the sh**t BACK THEN?
They still bloody are! Love both Priest and Maiden and it would be a tough call to say who i prefer
[ron h] Saturday, August 30, 2008 9:28:20 AM
Can you really be a fan of one and not the other?!  I'm a fan of Maiden, But I LOVE Priest!!!

I will admit that 'back in the day' I think fans of different groups were loyal to their band.  My drummer is better than yours, my singer is better than yours, my band is harder than yours.  (It was like that when I was a kid.)

Priest and Maiden were the s**t back then.

KEEP ROCKN'

[Phantom A6] Friday, July 25, 2008 12:14:14 PM
Yes, I'm here. But Priest is my Number one. Maiden is my Number two.
[DirtyHarley] Wednesday, July 23, 2008 3:51:33 PM
GREAT BAND, ONE OF THE BEST...   or the best?    uhhhh
[EriktheRed9] Wednesday, July 23, 2008 1:34:48 PM
Maiden calls me the Moonchild. I don't like those lyrics and i'm living the song out word for word,i wish it wasn't so.
[Return_of_Darth_Painkiller_0870] Tuesday, July 22, 2008 3:58:53 AM
Having the original Sabbath lineup on that bill would give it a major boost.  IMO, I personally do not see Ozzy getting back with Sabbath unless it's the final show any of them play (goddamn you Sharon Osbourne ).

[scaryman] Wednesday, July 16, 2008 7:47:01 PM
If we're going down that path, then let's go the whole hog (as rob suggested in metal hammer some months back) and have Black Sabbath there too!!! ( with Ozzy)

We can dream!

Album: Edward The Great
Song: Run To The Hills

First album ( even cassette) and first song.
Maiden is the band that introduced me the true music.
After watching the Gods in Istanbul on 13th of July, Maiden would be the only band who can make me feel the same again.

Priest and Maiden.. Keeping the heavy metal faith..
[Return_of_Darth_Painkiller_0870] Tuesday, July 15, 2008 3:11:55 AM

That would definitely be the concert tour of the century!  However, both bands need to put out killer new material (no, I am not knocking Nostradamus or AMOLAD or AOR).  I just think they'll need some fresh, new material that hits it big for that type of a tour to even be considered as a reality.

I reckon priest + maiden could do a gig and blow every metal based band off the face of the earth with what would be the gig of the century..... could you imagine the energy these two bands would create belting out their classics from two minutes to midnight to victim of changes and an amazing stage show to go with it ......... imagine mixing a powerslave set with a british steel/point of entry set..... come on jayne andrews use you're imagination...
[metalmaz] Monday, July 14, 2008 9:25:39 AM
I'm not a huge Blaze fan, although they did release a few cracking songs during hsi stint in Maiden.

However had Bruce not left, there is no way they would be where they are now. He needed the break,as they were getting stale.

Since the reunion (along with Adrian, who is also a pivotal point in Maiden), their standard of music is amazing.

If you listen to Maiden's Rock In Rio CD (or watch the DVD of it), stuff like The Clansman and The Sign Of The Cross?  It literally seems tailor-made for Bruce's voice.  And I definitely agree that Maiden NEVER should've hired Blaze Bailey in the first place.  Better to have taken a sabbatical instead or hire someone else.

I didn't really like Iron Maiden til I  heard "Flight Of Icarus "-& have been a semi fan ever since .
[guitardude] Sunday, July 13, 2008 7:50:57 PM
Iron Maiden is such an iconic band! They constantly put out good material and are so incredible live, they`re hard to touch. Now the stuff with Blaze Bailey, well the music is good, but his vocals were so far from competent for what they were doing.,I just can`t imagine what Steve Harris was thinking when he hired him?? He`s not bad, just not Bruce!

Saw Maiden open for Priest in 82 in Detroit.
I wish Maiden's newer stuff was still fast though=(
[scaryman] Tuesday, July 08, 2008 4:55:31 PM

It was indeed excellent!!! Better than Donnington '92
The stage set up was pretty much the same as that from the world slavery tour which i missed,
so that's that demon put to bed.

The Trooper, Rime Of The Ancient Mariner, Iron Maiden, and Powerslave were all awesome!!!

Maiden are due to do Twickenham stadium in the UK next Saturday..its good to hear they're on such good form...damn it.. they are such a 'kick ass' band
[Jeanine] Wednesday, June 25, 2008 12:41:15 AM
Saw Maiden on the 11th. They were fantastic!!  Chicago was a bit brutal but we made it off the floor alive.  The guys were perfect and are just so professional.  My son absolutely loved it too.  They are so full of energy. Fear of the Dark is such a great song, it always makes me laugh.
[Return_of_Darth_Painkiller_0870] Tuesday, June 24, 2008 4:03:20 AM

Dude's right, T.S..  Don't be such a bloody wanker.  Bruce wouldn't diss Rob (given the fact the two are friends).  He probably made a joke and it was taken out of context.  And Maiden totally kicks fucking ass!

I love Maiden, I am the same as a lot of Australian fans here, I can't believe we had Maiden and are now getting Priest in the same year! What a great year!
[Great White] Friday, June 20, 2008 2:35:37 PM
Saw Iron Maiden two weeks ago and I'm still riding on a high!  Geez! these guys still put out like they did in the early eighties!!!  It was well worth the money for the tickets and the band still cares enough about the fans to really go all out to put on an absolutely fantastic show.  Well done!!!!
[Return_of_Darth_Painkiller_0870] Thursday, June 19, 2008 3:15:35 AM
Saw Maiden Tuesday night, and they were as phenomenal as phenomenal can possibly.  Bruce's vocals were spot on, and he did a shitload of fan interaction.  Up the Irons!
