I've enjoyed reading all your reviews..  Especially HMRG's.  My review was more along the line of Budred's and I got a lot of heat for it.

So glad, so many had a great time and took their kids.

Perpetual Period [.]

You are making an ass of yourself on this thread.  Anyone who had read my posts here can see that I mentioned how great the drummers for Thin Lizzy and BLS sounded.  Too bad you can't read past a 3rd grade level.

I never said BLS was better, I just they were louder which I've never seen before, EVER.  I've never seen an opening act have more sound than the headliner.

All 3 drummers are really good drummers, just too bad you couldnt hear Scott worth shit.  The toms sounded really good, the snare, the bass drums, the hi-hats and crash cymbals sounded like ass.  The drums for Thin Lizzy and BLS sounded clear and were booming.  I dont understand how it could have been so bad at the Dallas show.

You are pathetic having to make shit up that I said instead of just sticking to what I wrote.  The only dickhead here on this thread is YOU, you stupid fuck.

This thread is for concert reviews, I'm glad to see others posting good news about the shows they went to.

I called the Dallas show they way I saw it.  I know it makes your pussy hurt, but that's how I saw it.  Deal with it and go fuck yourself.

I stand by everything I said.

Perpetual Period,

Don't get perturbed?  You insulted my home you fuck, what the hell am I supposed to do?  You insult my home (which I take as a personal insult) and you're telling us to fuck off?

I called it like I saw it, I stand by my review.  I said, overall I had a good time because of the company I was with, because I like being around 6,000 rockers and the atmosphere of a rock show.

The Judas Priest portion of the show, well, I've already said what I wanted to say.  If that makes your vagina swell up that's your problem.

I noticed you know a lot about meth, I hope you still have all your teeth.

I live in Dallas, not on the border.  Where are you from?  Arkansas?

Guitardude, olive branch accepted.  If Judas Priest does come back to the Dallas area, I will be there as well.  I've played some big shows, I was in a band that opened a Latin Festival at Starplex once, played Arcadia a few times and other festivals at outdoor Anette Straus stage adjacent to the Meyerson.  Probably like you I've played at most places Dallas musicians have played: Curtain Club, Club DaDa, Firewater etc...

So yes, I understand we're at the mercy of the soundcrew at times.  Couldnt they fix it?  Could both boom mics above the drums have not been working?  The sound of the drums can make a band sound ultra professional or cheap.  It was a pleasure to watch 3 great drummers right in a row.  Not a BLS fan but their drummer was really good.  Zakk has a 3 note range, but an amazing lead guitar player.

Sound aside, it was the energy from the band that bothered me.  Rob wasnt even on stage during the intro to Blood Red Skies which is one of my favorite songs ever.  I always thought that song should have been used in the Terminator movies.

I called it as I saw it, if that makes your vagina swell up, I can't help you.  Maybe I can Fed-Ex you a giant Texas cactus you shove in your ass to douche with.

Judas Priest loves Texas, and Texas loves Judas Priest.  Too bad you dont have the guts to state where you are from.  I'm from Texas Bitch.

Maple Syrup, it pains me to have written this and it is sad to see the band going out like this.  I've seen other people complaining about the sound on Facebook but still being nice.  Judas Priest deserves respect but it seems like everyone just kisses their ass and no one has told them what they need to be told.  IMO this entire tour is a mistake.  They should have taken some time off.  Rob Halford never had any eye contact with anyone in the band and really, Glenn looked bored.  I really believe the guys are ready for it be over.  They look tired.  I went to say good-bye to favorite band and we did, me and some friends.

Nostradamus bombed, so they release another live album, toured on British Steel and are now touring on The Chosen Few.  What the hell??

I thought the setlist was pretty good, just not executed well.  I can take the band looking tired etc but the sound?  A band with traditionally terrific sound and production has NO EXCUSE for poor sound.  Ever seen an opening band be louder than the Headliner?  I NEVER HAVE.

I dont believe the band doesnt have it anymore, I believe they do, I just believe they're tired and sick of each other, sick or touring and there may be some bad blood between some of the members, who knows.  I thought they were pretty good on Idol.

This last tour sounds NOTHING like Touch of Evil Live or Live '98, NOTHING.

I dont like writing these things and I'm stressing out over it as the band has been a part of my life since I was 11 years old, since I heard my uncle playing Hell Bent for Leather in his car and he was going on and on about this 'new band' he had discovered.  I bought Hell Bent for Leather and Van Halen with allowance money and quickly bought their older albums.  I was hooked on their sound and will forever be a Judas Priest fan.  Judas Priest is my favorite band all all time, the band and their music mean a lot to me.   I have many great memories with their music, concerts, have forged friendships, have covered several of their songs in bands I've been in (I play the drums).

I really don't understand how the opening bands could have had such great sound and they didnt.  It's unexcusable.  There were a lot of people in my section that left, they left in the middle of the concert.  Stunning man, stunning.  I stayed until the last note, to wave goodbye.

Budred, Ozzfest 2004 was the 5th, which was an awesome show.  Matter of fact, that was probably the best concert I've ever been to. Black Sabbath/Judas Priest and Slayer.

Judas Priest up until this last tour was the most consistent live band I've seen thru the years.  I've seen Van Halen great, then bad, Motley Crue great then bad as with other bands but not Judas Priest.  Disappointing show, disappointed I had to write what I did.  Other peeps have posted about the sound on their wall on Facebook, most are just being nice.  I had to call it as I saw it.

Something is going on with the band internally.  I think it may have to do with Nostradamus.  Who knows.  IT IS ABOUT VOLUME.  Judas Priest has always had amazing, professional, clear sound.  I notice the dums so much because I play the drums and Thin Lizzy and BLS sounded amazing.

These are the tours I've seen:
Unleashed in the East
Turbo
Ram It Down
Painkiller
Operation Rock and Roll
Live 98
Demolition twice
Ozzfest
Angel of Retribution twice
Metal Masters
Epitaph

Judas Priest Epitaph Tour Concert Review-Dallas TX.

So Judas Priest named their final world tour Epitaph.  They should have named it the "We Don't Give a Fuck Anymore Tour".

That's how they played the other night at the Allen Event Center to about 6,000 people.  First of all the sound sucked.  The drums especially sounded terrible, amazing because of the beautiful, clear drum sounds Thin Lizzy and Black Label Society had.  Judas Priest wasn't loud at all, how could Black Label Society have been louder than the Headlining Judas Priest??  Thin Lizzy sounded so clear and perfect and played their songs to perfection, eventhough their bass player is really irritating to look at, he's always in the front looking out at the crowd to see who is looking at him.  He never once, went over by the drumset to play with the drummer.

Black Label Society did their thing with tremedous sound esp the drums.  Zakk's guitar solo was WAY too long.  I went to the bathroom, got a beer, looked at t-shirts and was still soloing.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This was my 13th TIME TO SEE JUDAS PRIEST.  I'm their biggest fan, I have all their CD's, DVD's, several t-shirts, they are MY band, a part of me, a part of who I am.  I was very anxious about this show and had looked forward to it for months as I always enter a euphoric state at their shows.  From the looks of the band, this is definitely going to be the last tour.  Rob looked like he didnt want to be there and would walk off the stage after every song, Glenn Tipton looked bored out of his ass and fucked up The Sentinel.

I coudnt believe how sorry the drums sounded, I couldnt believe how bad the band sounded overall.  One of the greatest things about Judas Priest concerts is the way their music sounds live.  Their music alone live is a spectacle in itself. Nobody is heavier than Judas Priest live, Nobody.  Not this show.

The high hat cymbals on the left and right were non-existent, the bass drums could barely be heard and the crash cymbals were also non existent.  There was no treble on the drums at all.

Rob sounded terrible during Blood Red Skies and the song in general sounded like dog-ass, which is a shame, because on vinyl, it's an epic heavy metal composition that goes alongside Victim of Changes and Beyond the Realms of Death.

To my count, the band has had 5 major tours in the last 7 years, WAY TOO MANY and the band looks like they're sick of each other and like they're not getting along at all.  The only guys having any fun were the new guitar player and Scott Travis, too bad you couldnt hear them worth shit.

The band opened with Rapid Fire, which should have slayed, it didnt.  It sounded louder on my MP3 player with headphones, it was sloppy and boring.  The band went right into Metal Gods, Heading out to the Highway then Starbreaker.  They took out the intro on the drums on Starbreaker, probably because they sounded like shit.  Victim of Changes was next and Glenn played that stupid ass guitar solo he's played for 25 years which ruins the momentum of the song.

Other songs the band went thru the motions on: Prophecy, Beyond the Realms of Death, Diamonds and Rust, Turbo Lover, The Sentinel, Nightcrawler, Judas Rising, Hell Bent for Leather some song from Rocka Rolla, Painkiller.  They played at least one song from all their great albums.

Rob didnt sing a single word on Breaking the Law and during Electric Eye, which is about a spy satellite, they had a spasmatic real eye from 1976 that was really distracting and ridiculous.  We got to hear Scott Travis talk, and despite how bored he looked, he had some energy in his voice and they played Living After Midnight.

Rob had more costume changes than Cher.

Judas Priest is my favorite band of all time, I can't believe their touring again, hell they probably can't either and by the looks of it, they all look they're ready for it all to be over.  This is the most disappointing concert I've ever been to.  Shame on you boys, you've been a part of my life since 1978 and me and my friends went to say goodbye to an old friend.  I would have been better off at home watching Sportscenter having been left with all the great memories of tours past when the band gave a fuck, when they had energy and passion.  It's all gone now.

If you want to talk about this I'm a friend of yours on Facebook and I posted on the Dallas thread.  I hope you read my review, I'm your friend and you need to be told how pathetic you were here and you all need a kick in your ass.  Someone has to give it to you straight:  You sucked in Dallas.  My email address is [email protected].

Judas Priest just got plugged on Pardon the Interruption (P.T.I.) on ESPN..  They were interviewing the new Head Coach of the Detroit Lions and he said he was a big fan of 80's Heavy Metal including Judas Priest and Iron Maiden.

But Judas Priest was singled out by Michael Wilbon, a host of the show..

I'd like to see the next album be more cutting edge, more raw, more in the vein of  Demolition.  They were breaking new ground on Machine Man etc....  They should tune their guitars back down, break the mold.  I'd like to hear Scott try more beats, they are all so straight ahead or double bass.

I always hated that picture of Dave Holland on the back of British Steel, he looks bored out of his mind and looks like he needs a vagina transplant.  I also always hated that damn picture of him wearing that stupid skinny black tie with his leather coat.  Freaking stupid man.

Dave Holland wasn't a terrible drummer, he had his moments on Priest Live! like Head Are Gonna Roll, Desert Plains, and Ram it Down.  But Scott Travis is much more accomplished.  Holland barely hit his drums, I didn't like looking at him.  I was so relieved when Scott Travis joined.  I mean, c'mon, listen to the drums on Rapid Fire on Live '98...   It got so bad for Priest that they had to use electronic drums on Blood Red Skies and Hard as Iron.  A low point for the band, not to mention Love You to Death, Love Zone and Monster of Rock.  Possibly the three worst Priest songs ever.  Scott Travis is awesome, he freaking blew away Vinny Appice and his pathetic 1984 drumset with about 20 drums.  Travis and 7pc kit kicked his ass.  It was a real treat to see Priest and Queensryche together because Scott Rockenfield is also a great drummer and to see them on the same bill was awesome.  Dave Holland should have been replaced after Screaming for Vengeance.  Travis has a lot of respect for Les Binks drum parts and doesn't change them much, but he tears up Dave Hollands drum parts.

Les Binks was badass, the drums on Exciter were way ahead of their time.  I also love the drums on White Heat Red Hot, Delivering the Goods and the drums on Burnin Up are crazy, esp the beat underneath the guitar solos on that song.

Unfortunately, I missed Testament and Motorhead.  Heaven and Hell were good, but after all these years, Vinny Appice still gets on my nerves and I wish they had a better drummer.  It looked to me that he was getting on Geezers nerves too, he is very distracting.  He is no Scott Travis that is for sure.  Heaven and Hell would be better off with a drummer that has a more linear style that doesn’t overplay like Appice.  Iommi was great, Dio still has his voice.  Sign of the Southern Cross was long and boring then there was a drum solo.

With all the great songs Dio and Black Sabbath have, why a drum solo?  I’d rather have heard another song.

Priest was tight, had terrific sound, they were having fun on stage.  You can tell they love Texas.  I love when they all go up and down together and are in a synch of sonic fury.  Judas Priest heavy metal sounds so heavy at these volumes.  When I’m a Priest concert, I always think to myself that there is no band heavier than they are, esp live.  There is nobody heavier than Priest in concert.  Their music makes me enter a state of euphoria, better than any drug.  I start jumping up and down and people don’t like to stand near me.   I love the way (good) hard rock and heavy metal sound live.  Even a song like Angel sounds so heavy, man I love that song.  Don’t understand why it was never a single.  A very, very professional heavy metal sound, it was LOUD, but clear.  Weather was good, esp for an August night in Texas.  The band opened with Prophecy then slammed thru Metal Gods and Eat me Alive.  Great drum sound, Rob was on top his game.  The band played at my favorite outdoor amphitheater here called Starplex (Superpages.com now) a terrific place for hard rock/metal shows.  Guessing, I would say there were between 10,000 to 11,000 people there.  Last yr they brought back I’m a Rocker and Hot Rockin’ which I have always liked, this year they brought back Dissident Aggressor, Eat me Alive, Hammer and Anvil, Hell Patrol and Rock Hard.

I’m proud to say it was my 13th time to see Judas Priest, and this was one of their best.

Dallas setlist, not necessarily in this order:

Prophecy

Metal Gods

Eat me Alive

Breaking the Law

Between a Hammer and the Anvil

Dissident Aggressor

Rock Hard Ride Free

Hell Patrol

Electric Eye

Angel

Hell Bent for Leather

Green Manallishi

You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’

They may have played The Ripper and Livin After Midnight.  I was pretty drunk.  Two thumbs up for our leather clad heroes last Friday night.

Maybe he  is a dickhead, they were still better than Van Halen.  VH pussed out.  The bar band I saw after VH was louder than they were and you couldn't hear the drums at all.  I left the VH concert so pissed.  Not saying MC is better than VH, but for this year, 2008, Motley kicked VH's ass.  After the Crue was done, I felt like I had a true rock experience and saw 4 good bands.  Not that god-damned reggae crap 17,000 didn't give a shit about that opened.  VH was great in '04 on the Best of Both Worlds tour, but their sound man on this latest tour can go jump off a bridge or should be a grocery store clerke.  The sound at VH was inexcusable.  I don't like saying this, I have been a huge ambassador for VH since 1978 when I bought both Van Halen and Hell Bent for Leather with my allowance.  Those 2 records changed my life...  I have every VH record, every JP record.

I really like Prophecy, Revelations, Conquest and Nostradamus.  I didn't know what to think when I heard this record at first.  I knew it was a concept album, but still, I'm used to songs about futuristic, Mad Max guys riding their fucking motorcycles....... I mean, I'm sure Nostradamus would have ridden a bike if he had born later.  I keep listening to it, but, I'm still confused.  I would hope that for the next album, they would be more edgy like Demolition.  I would love an album more in the vein of Machine Man, Subterfuge, and Metal Messiah.  Heavy Metal and Hard Rock are back, this is the perfect time for Prest to capitalize.  Anyhow, I love Judas Priest, I have all their albums, some are framed and are hanging on my living room walls.  I will see them in Dallas and again in Houston because they have always been so good in concert.  Nothing is better than Judas Priest at 50,000 WATTS!!

FACE DOWN IN THE DIRT- MOTLEY CRUE
TOPIC: MOTLEY CRUE: SIXX AM, HEROIN DIARIES, THE DIRT

Dime, I saw them here in Dallas, I was very disappointed, the sound was terrible which is no excuse for a supergroup like Van Halen.  Couldn't even hear the drums man, I was pissed.  There was no beat, the band I saw later that night at the bar I went to was louder than Van Halen.  I took my VH decal off my 4Runner I was so pissed.  I saw Sammy about 2 weeks before VH and Sammy kicked their ass.  I also didn't like seeing the kid over there where Michael Anthony should have been.  I spent over $200 that night w/parking/beer/t-shirt.  I've not even worn that t-shirt because I was so disappointed in their BS production.

Motley Crue has 8 Semis man, I bet 4 were for their PA system alone.  2008 belongs to Motley Crue.  It could have also belonged to Judas Priest but they put out the wrong album at the wrong time.  Hard Rock and Heavy Metal are back, Priest could have spear-headed this, but instead it's Motley Crue.  They were amazing, they have morphed into something else now.  Really, you should have heard their PA system, sounded like Priest on the Turbo or Ram It Down tour or like Sabbath in '05 when Priest opened..

Just saw Motley Crue July 24th here in Dallas.  I knew they were going to be good, but this was a whole new level.  They are now part of Rock Royalty and for now, in 2008 are the undisputed Kings of American Hard Rock.  For now at this time they are on top of Van Halen, GNR, Velvet Revolver, Tesla, Aerosmith, Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Bon Jovi, the Cult and KISS.  I couldn't believe how good they were, and how LOUD they were, but GOOD LOUD..  It was one of the best sounding concerts I've ever seen.  Concerts in the 80's just seem to have been louder.  The best sounding concert I've been to since Sabbath, Judas Priest and Slayer in '05..  I also just finished Heroin Diaries, love Sixx A.M. and am reading The Dirt.  Their new album is the best hard rock record to come out since Appetite For Destruction, they are doing it, I was very proud of them on the 24th.  Gotta give credit where it's due and they are helping spearhead a HUGE ROCK COMEBACK..!!!!

Over-rated??  Oh man, Aerosmith hasn't made a great record since Done With Mirrors..!  U2, The Who, The Doors, Bruce Springsteen, The Black Crowes, Boston and Bad Company!  I don't get any of these bands... Never understood why other people thought they were so great.  OVERRATED! "I feel like makin' love' That song SUCKS!

Concerts that aren't loud PISS ME OFF!!  When I saw Van Halen, they weren't loud at all, PISSED ME OFF.  Couldn't hear the drums at all, no beat.  They should be ashamed of themselves, esp since I spent over $200 that night on ticket, beer, parking, t-shirt...  Dont get me wrong, I've been to some shows, esp in clubs that are just too freaking loud...  Judas Priest always had great sound, esp in the 80's..  Black Sabbath has AMAZING sound in '05 when Priest opened for them.  Motley Crue also had amazing sound last night here in Dallas!
